    Language: English

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
The stunning new thriller from The New York Times-best-selling author.
When a Crow Indian acquaintance of Tomlinsons asks him to help recover a relic stolen from his tribe, Doc Ford is happy to tag along - but neither Doc nor Tomlinson realize what theyve let themselves in for. Their search takes them to the part of Central Florida known as Bone Valley, famous primarily for two things: A ruthless subculture of black-marketers who trade in illegal artifacts and fossils, and a multibillion-dollar phosphate industry whose strip mines compromise the very ground they walk on.
Neither enterprise tolerates nosy outsiders. For each, public exposure equals big financial losses - and in a region built on a million-year accumulation of bones, there is no shortage of spots in which to hide a corpse. Or two.

    Bone deep was just average
    Any additional comments?
I was happy to see Mr. Guidall remember how Tomlinson sounds again, but this book was pretty unremarkable. There was nothing riveting and it moved in a predictable path. The lunatic guy in the book was very unbelievable as a character, I found his character one-dimensional.
The last several books I have read by RWW, I've rallied against Doc dating Hannah Smith. But now that they sort of broke it off, I miss her. Doc is still my favorite character, but Ms. Smith is pretty remarkable too.
Tomlinson has become a third tier character now, I miss having his more cavalier moments in the books. While his demeanor remained the same, and several passages where classic Tomlinson, he became a bit of the side show in this one. I would love to see him and Doc go on a "vacation" together, or would love to see Doc get more involved with one of his kids and get the heck out of Florida for a change.
Have no real interst in archeology
and to me the books was boring. Also the reader was better in the 2nd half, but in the first half I reset my iPod thinking I had hit the wrong speed for playback because he read so fast. So many of your readers have a range of voices I get spoiled. The names were unusual and without a distinction in the voice, I had trouble keeping the characters straight for a long time. A real bone digger might find the book great. It was not for me.
with RWW & Doc since Sanabel Flats this was BAD
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
    no
bad compared to all other RWW and Doc books
What do you think your next listen will be?
    Stone Cold
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
    narrator was OK
Do you think Bone Deep needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
    no
needs to get back to the old Doc
    Down Right Painful
What disappointed you about Bone Deep?
    Everything but George Guidall
What was most disappointing about Randy Wayne Whites story?
Main character has no depth, boring story. Have not finished this book, and doubt I will. Kept plugging along but not worth wasting my time on.
What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
George is always good. Only listened as long as I did because of George Guidall.
    Guidall is great
I love anything George Guidall narrates and this was a very good story as well.

The Munchkin just gets better and better
From the outset (No Human Involved) Barbara Seranella has delivered consistently splendid books, populated by completely believable, affectingly human characters. Munch Mancini is a wonderfully unique creation, a haunted yet determined young woman who refuses, ever, to play victim to the ghosts of her past. What is particularly gratifying in this series is that we get to see Munch grow very believably through time. With her street-smart philosphy and innate survival skills, her heart and her humor, she is unlike any other heroine in any other series. Unfinished Business is heartfelt, good-humored, and intelligent. Writing with insight and authority, with seamless research, and such genuine caring for her characters that the reader, too, must care for them, Seranella deserves a place on the national best-seller lists.
My one small quibble is the anachronistic reference to carpal tunnel syndrome which, in the early 80s, was almost unheard-of--certainly it wasn't common at a time when computers were not occupying desk space in almost every home. That said, I can only applaud the author and wait eagerly for the next book.
    Munch Business
Another Manch Mancini novel to purchase and read! I enjoyed this book as much as the other 3 that I've read. Am taking a break from them now, but plan on finishing the series sometime soon!
    Pulling for the Underdog
I have tried to read all of the Munch Mancini stories as I find them interesting. Trouble just seems seek out Munch as she deals with it in her own way and with the help of her good friends.
    Read these while you can
She died way too young, but she left this gritty series as her legacy. The books will be harder to find as time goes on, so start from the beginning and enjoy all eight
    Great Read!
Love this series. It's hard not to keep moving through the series of books. I love how she has overcome so much in her life and is still fighting day-to-day.

Just say No to this one and move on
I probably read this book at the worst possible time like it at all. The last few amateur detective books had female sleuths who all become involved with the hot local sheriff or detective on the case. It's become a boring and predictable part of female sleuths.
I thought Maddie might be different, seeing as she's just left her husband less than a month before and seemed to need to get herself together before looking for a man. But nope, one look at Detective Hurley and flirting begins over the dead body of her husband's mistress.
Before purchasing, I read numerous glowing reviews of a strong, female and that the story was so believable. Really? When Maddie is called to the first crime scene, she dresses hurriedly. Upon arriving, she discovers that a pair of panties have lodged down one leg of her pants. Instead of discretely taking care of the problem, she decides to shake the panties on the floor and kicks them into the crime scene where Hurley finds it and bags it as evidence. Then she plots to destroy the evidence and possibly let a co-worker, who is geeky so it's okay take the blame. At that point, I knew this series wasn't for me.
A Combo of NCIS, Bones and Physical Comedy!
The author has taken her experiences as a nurse and turned them into an excellent mystery series. The characters are believable and likeable, mostly because they are far from perfect. There were parts of this book that made me laugh out loud. Even though it is a tale of a cheating husband and the subsequent break up of a marriage, I did not find the story depressing. This book starts as Mattie is recovering from the paralyzing pain of infidelity and reinventing herself through a new career.
As my headline implies, this medically-based murder series includes crime scene investigatons - ala NCIS and CSI. There are graphic descriptions of autopsies, ala Bones. The lead character is a 6' tall nurse with a clever mind, a love of food (especially ice cream) and two left feet. I did not realize that physical comedy could be so well described! I cringed as I "saw" Mattie's clumsiness in action. What fun! Finally, if you can handle a little bit of blood and gore, I think you will find this series quite enjoyable.
The narrator was not consistent with her character voices, which was sometimes irritating.

I really like the storyline and the reader.
Would recommend to everyone who likes rumbled cops.
However not suitable for young teens or grandmothers or maybe great aunts.
    Poor narration
Having listened to most of the audible Frost books narrated by Stephen Thorne I was most disappointed by this narrator. His performance changed my perception of all of the characters to the point that I am now searching for another Thorne Frost performance to restore my Faith
    Terrible narration
Is there anything you would change about this book?
    The narrator.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator's voice for Frost is terrible, he sounds like a whining child. I listened to half the book then had to stop.
    Any additional comments?
A huge disappointment, I'd been waiting for unabridged audiobooks of the Frost books for ages, but this one is unlistenable.
    Brilliant
As usual a great listen. Frost stumbles from one case to another and when everybody thinks he's list the plot it all comes together. well worth listening to.
    another great book
Yet again a fantastic book wasn't so keen on the narrator he was competent but not as good as the last book.

    Critic Reviews:
"Battling scrapbook divas, secrets, jealousy, murder, and lots of glitter all make Designed to Death a charming and heartfelt mystery." (Ellen Byerrum, Author of the Crime of Fashion Mysteries)
"Read this fun book and you will never think of Washi tape in in quite the same way again, I promise. Christina Freeburn's second installment in her scrapbooking mystery series is full of small-town intrigue, twists and turns, and plenty of heart." (Mollie Cox Bryan, Agatha Award Finalist, Scrapbook of Secrets)
"This is a fun series with very likable characters you will want to visit with again and again with every new book. Even if you are not a fan of scrapping (and I'm not - it's about the only craft I never got into) you will enjoy the series as it is not heavy with information about the hobby - as some hobby series can be. And if you are into the hobby, there are hints at the back of the book." (Kate Shannon, Rantin' Ravin' and Reading)

    Her books are getting better
This book is better than the first. Our heroine, Faith, is a funny gal that works for her two grandmothers at their local scrapbook store, Scrap This. They treat her like a child and are always trying to set her up. In this episode she is taken advantage of by someone she does not even like, Darlene, who is both a drama queen and also the prime suspect in a murder.
Faith is growing in this book and is coming closer to facing her past and revealing it.
The customers and employees seemed true to life and the description of Faiths scrapbooking room in her home is spot on with every womans craft room. The pIot is not plausible as written but is fun and I did not know who done it until the end lots of twists. Personally I have never met anyone who scrapbooks that is competitive but I scrapbook and dont look at any of the magazines and I have never heard of someone like this giving classes in local scrapbook stores. Classes usually take place at large Expos. I did run into one of these diva types in a class I took at the last Expo I attended. However, I liked the competition in the book. I do recommend it and look forward to the next.
    Funny
I enjoyed this mystery. The "country" humour makes me laugh. A good mystery, although I thought I knew who did it, was surprised in the end. moving on to the next story!

    Members Reviews:
The Perfect Book to listen to on a Roadtrip
If you could sum up Dying for a Date in three words, what would they be?
This book is funny, smart, and entertaining. My experience with crime fiction is limited, so to find a book of this genre that is also funny was a surprise. While the coincidences of the criminal events are quite imaginative, they are grounded in real-world events that make them quite believable.
What did you like best about this story?
The best part of the story is Laurel. Another reviewer used the perfect word: zany. Her Lucille Ball style antics kept me laughing out loud while her initial naiveté about the events around her were endearing.
    Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene is at the beginning where she runs onto the field to defend her son from the bully on the other team. So clueless! That could have been me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I raced through this book and would have loved to have the time to finishing it all at once.
    Any additional comments?
I don't usually listen to books on tape on car trips, because the voices start to sound the same and lull me into a dangerous sleepy mode. The narrator for this book, however, had a great lively voice, that kept things interesting, without overplaying it. Perfect for the title. I hope to hear more from her.
Suspense + Laughs: Fun & Fast Paced
What made the experience of listening to Dying for a Date the most enjoyable?
Author Cindy Sample makes the most of her knowledge of real estate shenanigans, cyber dating, the challenges of a single mom, and her delightful sense of humor, blending the ingredients into a believable plot with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The mayhem begins when Sample's heroine, a hard-working, divorced mom, tries a singles dating service. While some of the characters are zany, we've met all of them (and some may be relatives). The mystery is satisfying, and the humor a hoot. Definitely five stars.
What does Pilar Uribe bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The narrator's take on the heroine is pitch-perfect and adds to the enjoyment.
    OK
I think the narrator may have ruined it for me. Each sentence was read individually with a big pause between. She has a great voice, but just didn't let the story flow. The Story was a nice little mystery.

    Fun and Spooky
Where does Home for the Haunting rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It ranks at the top. Juliet Blackwell is one of my very favorite authors. Her Haunting books will be my 2014 pick of the year for Best Series. Love them all
What did you like best about this story?
I liked that it moves along at a fast pace and there is always something unexpected happening.
Have you listened to any of Xe Sandss other performances before? How does this one compare?
Excellent. Xe Sands is a Rock Star in the Narrator world. Love every book she reads.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reactions, but it was a little creepy but always ending well.
    Any additional comments?
Fun and fast paced. Lots of interesting characters and tons of funny quips. I love that Mel can see and hear ghosts.
    Another good book
This is another good addition to a very good series. If you would like to spend your day with a cozy mystery this is a good one.
    A Hauntingly Good Read
What does Xe Sands bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Xe Sands is an outstanding narrator!
    Any additional comments?
Juliet Blackwell's series about Mel, a lady construction contractor who seems to be able to see and sometimes talk to ghosts, are fun reads. They are light and do not delve into the gruesome black areas that many ghost stories do. Its a great entertaining light read. Even my husband has enjoyed the series!
A pleasant cozy mystery and light read..
    Any additional comments?
I am growing accustomed to quirky Mel Turner, building contractor of fringe and spangled dresses, and the quirky people in her life. The book moves along nicely. The Audible narrator could differentiate a bit more on some of the voices, but she still does good work. I'll continue to read the series.
    A good series!
If you've read any of my other reviews, you already know I like a fun listen. And these Blackwell books are that. They are fun. Xe Sands is very playful with the characters, but I'm fussy about readers and hear more vocal fry in every single character than I'd really like to hear from just one or two. It can sometimes be difficult to tell who is speaking.
The heroine seems to be pretty down to earth, if you don't count the wacky way she dresses.

    Good audiobook
    Narration well done, enjoyable,
Loved the story base of San Francisco, and we'll done prose that allowed you to see the Golden Gate Bridge and its glory.
    Great twist at the end!
Fall From Grace is a good detective novel with a great twist at the end. Unfortunately Angela Dawe's voice is as irritating as the sound of scratching on a blackboard. I seldom downrate a novel due to poor narration, but an exception is appropriate here.
    Where do I begin ....?
Ok, I've never submitted a review until now, but I thought I should, in hopes that the author and narrator will learn from it for future books.
First, the narrator began horribly, and only improved somewhat over the course of the book. I almost stopped as soon as I started. She had an annoying sing song quality to her voice
And a habit of accentuating the end syllable of each word and also drawing it out. Agonizing.
But wait, it gets worse. The start started out ok, I personally love a good murder mystery now and then. But the characters actions and dialogue were so unrealistic and the plot, although it had potential, was very flawed. I won't go into detail, but the main character wasn't even believable as a police detective. I could go in but in summary i feel The editor did not do his or her job- it should have had a total re-write. The setting in San Francisco saved me from stopping mid book, but I did return it, which I rarely do.
    Forced myself to finish
The storyline was very predictable and Jane most be one of the worst cops ever. The narrator was awful and I found myself shaking my head so often at her inflections that I'm amazed I don't have whiplash.
    reasonably good story, terrible audio
The audio for this sounded like it was read by a synthetic voice or voice piped through auto tune. pretty sure the performer was human, and the performance itself was ok, but really awkward pauses and strange inflection made this a challenge to listen to. less noticeable at higher speed play back but still rather distracting.

    Publisher's Summary:
She's trained to kill. He's beaten the best. This time all bets are off. Former Secret Service agents turned private investigators, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell return in their most surprising, personal and dangerous case to date.
Michelle had chased many things in her life. As a track star and later Olympic rower, she had constantly pitted herself against others in races. As a cop in Tennessee she had run down her share of felons fleeing the scenes of their crimes. As a Secret Service agent she had been fleet of foot next to limos carrying important leaders. Tonight, though, she was competing against a long-legged teenager with the boundless energy and fresh knees of youth who had a substantial head start and was running like the devil was on his heels....
King and Maxwell encounter teenager Tyler Wingo when he has just received the tragic news that his soldier father has been killed in Afghanistan. But then Tyler receives an email from his father... after his supposed death. Sean and Michelle are hired to solve the mystery, and their investigation leads to deeper, even more troubling questions. Could Tyler's father really still be alive? Was his mission all that it seemed? Has Tyler's life been a lie, and could he be the next target?
It's clear that King and Maxwell have stumbled upon something even more sinister when those in power seem intent on removing them at any cost. Determined to help and protect Tyler, their search for the truth takes them on a perilous journey which not only puts their lives at risk but arrives at a frightening conclusion.

    Contender for Baldacci's worst book...
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
absolutely the worst book Baldacci has written with its trite characters and unbelievable plot. The story would be looked down upon the most derring do fifth formers. Can't think who would enjoy it. I must admit on name alone I listened until part 2 but in the 200 odd books I have chosen from audio books this is the first I have not finished.
What was most disappointing about David Baldaccis story?
Just the absolute triteness of the oh too macho characters ,including Maxwell, and the heavy so-called humour of her slovenishness.
What three words best describe Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy s voice?
    Soap operaish
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Pity that such a good talent would put his name to this rubbish
    Any additional comments?
No will not waste any more words

Thoroughly enjoyed the book and narration.
An excellent book and the narrators were the best I've listened to. Thoroughly recommended - excellent
    Riveting listen
As always David Baldacci keeps you enthralled from beginning to end. This is the second time I have listened and the enjoyment wasn't lessened.
