Transform your quiet time. Today's world is all about now - a fast-moving, high-speed, on-demand lifestyle, but has this pace changed the way we study the Bible? Our relationship with God is a journey, a walk where we grow closer to him each day. So it makes sense that reading and understanding Scripture is a continual experience, not just a moment. This innovative devotional is designed to change how you interact with Gods Word.
The Message//REMIX: Solo revolves around lectio divina, or divine reading, an ancient approach to exploring Scripture updated for todays students. Each devotion delivers a unique, contemplative study that will encourage you to read, think, pray, and live. Uncover biblical wisdom and revelations as you learn to read without the typical limitations that often cut Bible reading short. Immerse yourself in the passage as you place yourself in the story or meditate on words and phrases. Connect with him through listening prayer and praise as you encounter new ways to communicate with God. Rest, reflect, or act as you discover how to take the Word with you throughout the day. Features include an introduction to the lectio divina style of study, numbered devotions so you can start on any day of the year, and a time of rest every seventh day.

Not a study bible, but a great "reading" bible!
I bought this looking for more contemporary language to read in the bible seminars I lead. As a member of the clergy I can use about any version with equal ease, but sometimes the language in other versions is tougher on lay members of the group, This version certainly fits what I needed.
I now frequently use this in my sermons just because it truly is easy to understand. It's certainly not just a hip remix of the KJV, it really is a translation. I have both the hard copy and Kindle version, both get a lot of use.
Navigation is fine but....
Some reviewers said that you cannot navigate by chapter numbers. You can actually go to the chapters but not by the usual route you might expect. In the table of contents at the start, you can only click the book name. When you do, it will take you straight to the introduction of that book. Turn the page down (arrow right, or swipe depending on your Kindle model) as if you're reading this intro and the next set of text will be the chapter numbers. So yeah, you can navigate by chapters but in a rather roundabout manner. This is fine with me, no big deal.
I did have to ask for a refund though because of one thing. Typos. For instance, in deuteronomy, a killer who has unintentionally slain a person is given sanctuary, right? He's not a murderer. A slayer or killer, but not murderer. But in this translation, he is at first called a killer then later on a murderer- and this on the part refering to the same unintentional killing. After several of these inconsistencies, I got the awful feeling the text was haphazardly written.
I like the idea of a paraphrase. I love the modern day idioms used in this translation. I'm with the author when he wrote that the purpose of the book is to get people to begin reading the bible. Just begin reading it. Study will come later. So perhaps a thorough review and revision of the text will make this better.
