When I began this novel, I didn't realize it was a former Amish romance. I've read MANY Amish romances, but this was a first where two former Amish reconnect after many years. I really liked this audio book. I want to read more from this author!!

Love, forgiveness, and second chances

How long will Katie run from the Amish life, family expectations, and love? Then Karl leaves the Amish life too and becomes a real estate lawyer. Katie is a realtor. Does the shock of meeting up again after all these years mean anything? . After 12 years can Karl forgive her and give her a second chance? This book was an awesome quick read. I loved the story theme of love, forgiveness, and growing in God. I was given a copy for an honest review.

Very Nice Contempory Romance With A Twist!

When Katie was barely 17 years old she found out that she was betrothed to Karl, her wonderful friend and confidant. However, the Amish lifestyle in which they were raised weighed Katie down immensely. She didn't want to get married when she was 18, she didn't even want to live in the Amish community that she had been brought up in. So, on the day of her wedding, she slipped out through a window and made her escape.

12 years later she is a successful real estate agent, living in the big city as "English" (the term the Amish use for those who choose to live outside of their communities) from her clothes, to her makeup and every other way you can imagine.

Just per chance, Karl the young man she was supposed to marry uses her real estate office for some real estate transaction. When they literally bump into each other

She reluctantly agrees to having a meal with him. She finds he is a successful attorney. After that meal, they are both confused about the feelings that they're feeling.

When Katie is called home because her father has had a heart attack and refuses to go to the hospital, Karl takes Katie. The familiarity of where they grew up brings up emotion and confusion.

This is a lovely book that is a bit unrealistic, in the nonchalant acceptance of "outsiders" coming home for big events and/or to make weekend visits without any reprimand. Other than that, it is a great journey as we get to listen to Karl and Katie reminiscing, living in the moment and each ones plans for the future.

The narration was great! Julie Lancelot delivers a performance that is believable and without flaw. Although she does give each character his or her own voice, I felt more like she was telling a story and allowing me to imagine it as I wanted. Excellent performance.

good story. Poor narration

it was a good story, but felt like someone was reading me a book badly.

Held our attention the whole time.

I had already read this book. It was no surprise that it was a great book but it was like a whole new story hearing it out loud. What a great narration. Hope there are more soon.

Engaging Christian mystery /drama /love story

The reader is very easy to understand and even does voices!

The recording has some pauses that don't seem necessary, but otherwise excellent.

The story is emotive and interesting. I never found myself bored of hearing all the details. I didn't guess the ending (and I usually can).

Uplifting and realistic Christian fiction located in a small mountain town setting with a trip to the LA area. The writer is knowledgeable of area details.

Time Doesn't Heal Everything, only Numbs

Chris loses his wife of only thirty-five to a brain tumor. After four years, he still can't get over her and move on with his life, but he decides to leave New York for the New England area to get away from the noises and routines of city life and enjoy the quiet and peace in the country. He meets Gina in a small general store and can't help but notice her, but he battles his feelings and feels guilty because of his wife. The story is a slow, relaxing read that takes you through the countryside of New England. The author mentions a book by Thoreau titled The Maine Woods. I'm a Henry David Thoreau lover of Walden, so I ordered it. He also mentioned a book about a man traveling with his poodle by Steinback titled "Traveling with Charley," and I had to get that one, too. I've traveled a lot with my cocker spaniel, and I'm a dog lover so I had to have it. This book sort of reminded me of the author's latest book as far as the theme about not being able to get over a dead wife, the theme about the heartache and pain involved and how the saying that time heals all wounds really isn't true. As his book says, time numbs, but some things never really heal. I enjoyed the read. This one is shorter than the other one and a quick, easy read if you like short books for a busy schedule. I have read this author before and will read him again.

A Touching Read...

I'm not normally a voracious reader of romance and I'm not sure I've ever read one written from the male's perspective. So why did I read "Within a Man's Heart"? Good question. I'd been hearing good things about not only the book but the author and thought...why not give it a read. I'm so glad that I did. Mr.

Great Read

I really enjoyed reading the book

Pulls heart strings in two different directions, in a good way.

Theme of the sacrificial gift. As the baby Jesus became to us all.

Ruth Reidâs story really touched my holiday heart. It may have been the three outstanding well-developed charactersânot easily done in novella format.

----Accepting spinsterhood, Abigail nears her goal of filling a Mason jar with coin enough to buy her own horse, Cactus, a sign of independence. Her self-declared âgift of gabâ is NOT so Plain for Amish fraas. âOnly Abigail would consider prattle a gift.â âa book quote.

----Her cousin and fence-jumper, Afghanistan Vet with PTSD is back and causing that family a shunning risk. Abigailâs soft heart puts her in need of a new job toward her Cactus buying plan.

----A seldom used Amish trade is highlighted, I liked that. A glassmaker, Micah, can fill that job need if he can stand all the âGabby Abby-ness.â The journey of these three is a delight to read with a Christmas hearth-warming ending.

A truly wonderful story about loving and faith

This was a surprisingly wonderful story about a girl and a guy and a wounded veteran and a homeless man. It reminds you of what is truly important. This is a wonderful Christian story that takes place before and up to Christmas Day. It will make you smile and remind you about what is really important.

Amy Clipston is an excellent author of the Amish lifestyle.

A Plain tale of âGelassenheitâ âThy will be done.

Tongues wunderbaarly wagged. Frannieâs Englisch âRockyâ former beau was in Bee County South Texas, the reason Frannie was sent to her Aentiâs. Frannie must not wed outside the Amish church faith. Jah, the Bishopâs son is for Frannie, nee a boy with a broken truck.

Such a delight to get a Christmas Story set back in Bee County on the farms of the daed and son beekeeperâs honey business. Check out the Bee County series for more sticky romance stories. âA Christmas Visitorâ is has a deliciously sweet Christmas ending, and as the book quote says: âtasted of kaffi, maple syrup, dreams, and hopes.â

Nice and short enough for anyone's holiday reading time allowance. It sets the Turkey and Christmas holiday spirit.

Sweet story

I struggled with writing this review.

First, I really liked the characters and the sweet story. Betsy is a great author, and I enjoyed the story.

However, it was a little sad to me that this novella, published by a Christian publisher, had no mention of God, grace, redemption even though the story was perfect for small references to redemption and forgiveness. I don't want a sermon or to be beat over the head with some Bible lesson when I read fiction, but I expect some spiritual aspect.

Since I've read the author's other books and have found spiritual themes in them, I'm assuming this change is from the publisher. And I'm including it in my review for their benefit.

The story is great. The writing is great. If you're a fan of sweet love stories, this is a great read!

I liked this one

I liked this one, it was not too preachy and was focused on the relationship and character development not the ludicrous notion that is too aggressively pushed in Christian romance that God picks out a person and when you find that magic person the relationship will be perfect. People are real and have real flaws. I liked this story too because the heroine is like a real person I can relate to and would be friends with whom is not perfect and has made mistakes but she has come back from them and she is down to Earth.

Great read

So much fun! It's part of a series but can be read in any order. Great one at book read.

Learning patience

Thinking he has found the one to marry, she breaks his heart when she wants someone else. He is ready to get married but finding a match with a broken heart doesn't work. Even his mother's matchmaking falls flat. He learns to keep faith and become less desperate to marry. It has a good ending. I enjoyed the read.

I loved all the books in An Amish Christmas Love. I started reading and just could not put the book down. I couldn't wait to

get one finished so I could go on to the next one. Suspense and surprise was in each book. I loved every minute of it.

A Great Author.

If you love Christmas and happy endings, this is the book for you.

The old adage of try and try again rings true in this book. Or maybe its the power of positive thinking.....but I chose to think that the Lord knows best and it worked together for good and finally there is a Christmas love for Gregory.
