Probably will. It is a short story but I would love to hear more detail of what happened leading up to the 'Guild' being in charge.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Guild?

Spoiler: I wont go into detail, but how the end result of the meeting with the Guild.

Very intriguing read

As a newcomer to the Dekker's Dozen universe, I was very intrigued by this. It has definitely made me want to read more of Schmitz's work to learn more about these characters and their destinies. Overall, the book is very well written and an "easy" and enjoyable read in my opinion. I enjoyed the connection to religious lore without it being overwhelming religious (which is something I don't enjoy in general). My favorite part of reading (in general) is learning about and connecting with interesting characters: their back-stories, etc. This was a very short read which just scratches the surface of many interesting characters. So it serves its purpose as a "hook" to give the reader just enough to make them want to know more and read the longer novels - which I have not yet done at the time of writing this review, but do intend on doing now that my curiosity has been aroused.

World-building prologue to the Last Watchman

I read this as the prologue to the The Last Watchmen. A Waxing Arbolean Moon is a very short read, but it spans a long timeframe: starting from prehistory and Dione; 2354 BCE and Sargon; 2416 and Austicon; to PISW and the Krenzin. Similar to The Last Watchmen, the writing to this book was professional and smooth.

I enjoyed the connection with biblical literature, theology, and with ancient Mesopotamian history. Sargon, Akkad, Solomon, Ezekiel, and Davidâs mighty men. The prehistory flows into history which flows further into the future and then to an alien race.

As the author states, this short book is meant to be read in conjunction with The Last Watchmen. Together, they form a refreshing mixture of history, theology, and science fiction I think you will enjoy.

A science fiction version of some Biblical events

Schmitz offers an intriguing romp through history, past and future, often with Biblical allusions and allegory. This short work serves as a prequel to his Dekker's Dozen book and is an excellent introduction to his universe.

Great story with characters you care about

The characters are well written and diverse. The story is more about the politics and the hard work and effort put in by people rather than the magic pill of science solving all the problems.

Book 1 was much better and had a better story than book 2. I was really hoping this series would be worth following, but I don't think I'll read past this book. The story didn't have the interesting levels the first book.

Needed some cleaning up, but interesting ideas.

The opening scene of the book really grabbed me ... maybe more than the author intended, since it wasn't about the main character in the story, who was pretty weak and hard to care about in comparison.

I was a bit surprised when I heard this book went through an editor. There were still quite a few errors throughout.

The underlying ideas of a sort of spirit energy, and that we could create a portal to the afterlife were interesting, although the repetitive descriptions of the technology became tiresome. I felt like the POV changes to the other characters could have been cut out entirely and the story would have been both shorter and stronger.

It wasn't a bad book, it was just in need of a lot of tightening up and cleaning.

I honestly wasn't expecting to like Evan Ellis very much

Spirit Hackers is part thriller, part sci-fi. Immediately after his introduction, I honestly wasn't expecting to like Evan Ellis very much, but he was a surprisingly likable character. The supporting cast is strong and the antagonist possesses believable, even heartwrenching, motives. The science, I found to be more fantastic than realistic, but I don't feel the story lacked anything for that. Overall, the suspense and action of this novel propelled me through an enjoyable read. Should Crocco continue to write in this universe, I would certainly pick up future additions.

Fast paced, originial Sci-fi thriller

It's been said that there's no such thing as an original story, but Aaron Crocco proves that old saw wrong with this book. I have never read anything that approaches this plot : Scientists working to trace the energy of a person beyond death. Of course, that's the hook, the starting point, and there are more than a few twists and turns along the way. The central character, Evan Ellis, is a man struggling with a most unusual affliction, but it's one that happens to be exactly what these people need for their research to reach fruition. Unfortunately for Evan, not all the scientists are working together, and some place a higher value on what he can provide them, than on his continued well-being.

There are some issues with the book - Aaron's use of language is sometimes a little idiosyncratic, for example, but this is a fast paced book that promises action from the outset and delivers it.

Tough read:

Good storyline. Very poorly edited! Full of words and punctuation used wrong and misspelled. It would be a good read otherwise.

amazing book

I constantly exploit to be in love with interpretation freedom knowledge fiction and this volume is similar to a pleasure for room sci-fi lovers. legend of slogan who is combating to obtain his craft overturn will remain you deficient for extra till the last sheet of this book. Enjoyed this book.

What a waste...

This review may seem harsh, but it comes from a place of deep sadness at the loss of what could've been a great story.

âYou might not, but it's not so bad. You don't have to work and they bring you food. I'm not leaving. I'm on my last leg. I'm just glad I got to talk to you. I've never really sat down and spoken to one of my kids after they left. It's kind of cool.â

That was the point in this book where I could almost hear the author stop giving a crap.

Just, from that point on,

"To hell with this. I'm done writing this piece of crap book, I'm done!"

Which is a shame, because before that fateful sentence, this wasn't just TOO bad.

I actually stopped at one point and googled the author's name, because I was having a little trouble believing this was his first outing.

The ideas in this book are good, and a couple of characters in it are even relatable. For the FIRST half of the book.

From that point on it's a poorly written train-wreck of stilted dialog, rushed plot points and left-field revelations.

Conclusion to a Three Book Series

Length: Print 161 pages, Audible, not available as an audiobook.

This book is targeted to Science Fiction fans, especially those who love Star Trek.

What was the Amazon Rank on the date this review was published? 20,557.

Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first? Not really. You need to read the first two books in the series:

Towards Infinity: First Contact, and

Towards Infinity: The Creators.

Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures? More than many Kindle books, but most of them are not so troublesome. One example is pwn when the writer meant own; a second example, the author wrote hin but had intended him. The shame is, most any spell-checker

Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read? Leisure reading,

What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made? English. Adult. Foul language, including several occasions in which he uses the f-bomb.

My biggest pleasure or disappointment was? Poor editing for typos and phrases used affected me more like a toothache than the two previous novels, but there is little about the writing style, even, that I find pleasing. Of the three books in the series, this is the least pleasurable. Yet, the author hints at a possible fourth book coming In the future.

What I do find that I like is the plot. Throughout the three books, the author does have a good plot. I even think he could sufficient correct the books to make it a good story.
