Moving resources from one area to another is illegal (unless the same corporation controls both areas' resources). These corporate interests have enslaved mankind by controlling the currency. Scout Ellison and his group want to start a new society without currency. This new society is completely illegal. Even if it was not, it would require changing the whole world's financial system. So Scout decides to leave Earth and colonize Mars. But the military-industrial complex won't let this new society get off the ground (at least not without a fight).

at its core there is some really cool concepts that need more flushing out
There was a lot of rough edges that need some serious refining. That said, at its core there is some really cool concepts that need more flushing out. Matthew Ellis as a writer has learned from his first book and took what he learned and applied it to his second book in the series: Mars: Baroquw Revolution.
    poor read.
this book just ended. seems to be missing last two pages. dialog was very poor. I kept reading to see how the story would end. someone needs an editor.

    A Future Imagined
The time is a hundred years from now. Climate change and wars have turned the world upside down. The haves and have-nots are at each other's throats. Humanity needs a strong leader who can impose order and do the hard things that need to be done. Warren tells a great story, interweaving facts about the effects of global warming with plausible world events, all within the context of ordinary human relationships. In the end reason prevails, fusion power is finally achieved, and those who have survived have a future. Things may turn out just the way Warren has imagined--we can only hope so.
For people like me who like to think about such things, this is a great read.

I love each book more than the last.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I have recommended to almost everyone I have talked to recently. I have all of my children reading the series 13, 20 and 26. I think even my 7-year-old granddaughter would love these books.
What did you like best about this story?
As in each book the reader gets a more in depth understanding of each character. While each book does stand alone Julie adds a little to each character with each additional book. While this book is focused on Nadia, I am left really wondering about Dustin. Loving Danielle more. And giggling and scared for what Jillian is going to get herself into next.
The part I really liked in this book is the end and Jillian's mother's letter to Dr. S. I will let you read/listen to it yourself but it really describes a mother's love.
What does Kristin Condon bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I love audiobooks because I can go about my day and still listen, but I love Kristin in particular because she takes narration above what I have been used to in other books. I have previously said this in other reviews but I always feel as if every character is reading their own part, it does not sound like the same person is reading.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
On a scale of 1-10 I would says this one was a 7 or 8. Couldn't wait to get back to the story each evening but did not keep me up all night because I just couldn't put it down.

Length: 3 hrs and 18 mins

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Dr. Demetrios Demopoulus and his gang of time traveling misfits are back, and this time they're trying really hard to keep the universe from going kaput. Or are they? Helping them stay alive is Erob, a robot who suffers from a split personality disorder. Service with a smile is not his strength, but if you need to threaten an unsuspecting humanoid or two, he's your man, er, robot.
Their mission, should they wish to accept it, is to travel back to 1950s Iran and flush out alien meddlers. Why Iran? Iran so far way? Let's just say it's a mystery involving the jingoistic machinations of oil producing nations, a certain foreign intelligence service, and a few inter-dimensional Sasquatch. Sound familiar? It should, it's based on a true story. Well, most of it, anyway.
Note: This novella is an extension of the Dr. Dimension series originally written by Charles DeChancie and David Bischoff. You don't need to listen to the first two novels before listening to this one, but the authors would sure appreciate it. It also proves you're a true mensch.

Beautiful editon of a classic Robert E. Howard Conan story
This is one of Robert E. Howard's best Conan stories and this edition is beautiful. Nice illustrations by Hank Jankus in color and black and white. Also, includes the original uncompleted "Drums of Tombalku" in the way Howard left it, untouched by any editor's hands.

New twist. Glad I found it.
New twist on the end of "civilation". I kept looking for a story line that was dropped, but I bought the other two books, so maybe G.R. will pick that line up. There were some editing problems, nothing bad, I read FB so I'm not as picky as I once was. Really good story. I kept thinking this could happen
Loved it! Did not want it to end
Loved it! Did not want it to end. At least I had ordered the first 3 and can head on to #2!
End Of The World Novel - Good Stuff & Even Educational
I bought the trilogy & just finished this first novel. What a neat idea. This story is so full of meat & potatoes that it is hard to list them all.
This novel goes beyond the average EMP or zombie survival novels that is quite prevalent today, I read a good bit of each and I can say I like this author's writing & ideas better. Number one is the lack of profanity, if you read my reviews that is one thing I complain about more than anything else, this author PROVES you do not need it to make a good story (same thing with stand up comics, it takes more talent to be clean).
This book will take you to an event that forever changes the lives of everyone and how they cope with it. Mr Carter even adds a lot of helpful & informative ways to survive when you are taken back to nothing.
I do not want to tell you the novel in detail, I just want to let you know this is worth buying & reading. I read of lot of books dealing in TEOTWAWKI and WTSHTF, I can easily say this is worth the price of admission and I will recommend it to anyone else. One sad thing to note is that something similar to this could happen anytime, but reading this could mentally prepare you and get you thinking.
Dystopian anarchy with an agrarian twist
Interesting Dystopian story with an agrarian twist. I grew up on a farm and the idea of fortifying them actually makes sense. Certainly the Nanny State resonates with current American society. The author weaves a tale of America's implosion from the viewpoints of vastly different survivors with each group trying to rebuild in their own image.
