    Publisher's Summary:
The human instinct for survival is strong, especially when the circumstances are dire. When five women and two men return to Earth as part of a disjointed and meager population, with the intent of completing a barely conceivable mission of reestablishing themselves on the surface and repopulating the planet, dire is an understatement. Short on food, tools, medicine, and options the last members of the human race face stiff odds and certain danger. As the last capsule full of humans depart their orbiting lifeboat for a return to earth's surface, nothing is as it should. Safety margins are slim, virtually every aspect of reentry and survival are in question, yet Randy Tagget, Keisha Miller and their five fellow travelers have little choice. It's time to go home and do their best. The question remains however, is their best good enough, or will they go the way of the billions who came before them and lost a celestial roll of the dice? This fifth installment brings about the conclusion of the story where life and death walk hand in hand, and perhaps the worst fate of all is waiting for the inevitable, while recognizing they are powerless to affect the outcome one way or another - or are they?

    Best one yet!
So the series ends with this great book! Definitely room to find out a bit more should you want to go there Jamie. I wont spoil it, but this was the best of the series. It had some "laugh out loud" moments (the guys will know which bit I mean), and some sad moments which make you realize the luxury we have in this day and age. Great read and it's good to know the human race is in good hands!
A great wrap-up to the Series
Jamie Beckett wraps up The Lifeboat Augusta Series with this edition. While we know where some of the characters are going, it is gratifying to find out what happens to them when they get there. Well worth your time to read. If you haven't started the series, give it a shot.
i didn't want it to end!
I didn't want it to end! Excellent ending to the well written Lifeboat series. I had become so vested in the struggle to adapt to earth again that the book ended way before I was ready for it to end. I will continue to read Jamie Beckett! Mlittle
As with all good books it left me wanting more
As with all good books it left me wanting more! Sorry the story had to end. Great concept and well written. The author paints a vivid picture with his words. Heartily recommend!
    Great read!
The whole series made for a nice adventure, but (without spoiling anything) this last piece leaves off in a great place.

Great Story, but performance could be better
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. The story is original, and although the narration starts out rough it gets much better.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Caeser. He was absolutely hilarious.
What three words best describe Justine Vannuccis voice?
Bright, expressive, at some moments grating
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed throughout most of the book, but there was a part that made me bawl like a little girl.
    Any additional comments?
I don't have anything to compare this to because it's that unique. There's a bit of obscure mythology mixed in with a solid story base. It's not high brow, but not everything has to be. It's fun. I wouldn't recommend this for children, though.
    Very entertaining dark comedy
Would you listen to Children of the Pomme again? Why?
Yes, very entertaining characters and original storyline.
What did you like best about this story?
What started out as a what seemed to be slightly formulaic turned into a very well told story that made me laugh, but still had enough emotion and heart to win me over.
What does Justine Vannucci bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The character Emily is voiced very well.
    Any additional comments?
The narrator seems to stumble through the beginning but finds her place and does a good job of telling the story. The story might be rather offensive to some, but I enjoyed it for its dark humor while managing to tell an original and engaging story with some very human and touching elements and well written action scenes.
    Good Funny Story
What did you love best about Children of the Pomme?
Ceaser, anything to do with that guy was funny.
What other book might you compare Children of the Pomme to and why?
Honestly I don't have any other books to compare this one to
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narrator just sucked plain and simple. She did nothing to help the story along.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Oh so I'm terrible at these I don't have a single clue what a good tag line would be. Audible your question selection sucks.
    Any additional comments?
Good funny story worth the read, or well you know what I mean. Narrator well she just plain and simply sucked at this no emotion or feeling. There is always something new coming up that makes you want to keep listening.

    Publisher's Summary:
Combine one troubled boy with his concerned prep school teacher. Stir in a pinch of quantum physics, add Italian Renaissance political intrigue, and serve piping hot with Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Machiavelli, the Medicis, and a Borgia Pope on the side. That is the perfect recipe for a time travel adventure crackling with historical detail.
A windswept, snowy day has shut down all movement on or off Block Island. It is the final day of classes before the winter break at the prestigious Block Island Academy High School. Prester Charles John is lecturing his class on the Italian Renaissance, and is displaying a set of twin daggers once belonging to Lorenzo de Medici. During the lecture, an angry young student, Kirk Renzo, grabs one of the daggers and runs away. The boy's footprints lead through pristine snow to a 500-year-old tree. Prester gives chase, but at the tree the footprints end. The boy and the dagger have vanished.
Suspicion over the boy's unexplained disappearance falls hard upon Prester John. Ostracized by his friends and colleagues, Prester's life is turned upside down. But then Prester meets a physicist who theorizes that the boy has slipped into a parallel universe and been transported to 15th-century Italy. Indeed, Kirk Renzo has finally found his niche, his knowledge of the modern world serving to propel him to the level of prince in Renaissance Florence. But there are unseen dangers around every turn with political rivalries boiling over. Thus begins an adventure sending Prester John back in time where he will encounter numerous Renaissance notables as he searches for his lost student.

    A Wonderful Surprise
This novel was a real pleasure - extremely well-written and packed with humour and accurate historical details.
I consider myself a picky reader, when it comes to historical fiction. Part of my problem is I've been studying the Italian Renaissance for almost 50 years. When I find an error, it's like hitting a speed bump - I have trouble getting back into the rhythm of the book, once I've been jolted.
But with Lorenzo's Daggers, I zipped right along, thoroughly delighted. And I suspect you'll be equally pleased!
    Keeps you guessing
Time travel is always intriguing, but add history and art interwoven so well you'll need to sneeze the marble dust from your nose and you've got the makings of a great read. The protagonist history teacher, Prester John, brings his subject to life so well that he finds himself bewilderedly taking a leap of faith into the very life he is so vividly describing to his students. Add a bright but obstreperous student caught up in teenage angst and delusions of grandeur, and you need all the wit and wisdom of Einstein, Renaissance masters, politicians, and the Pope himself to help unravel the excellent twists and turns of Ron McGaw's book. The juxtaposition of timelines kept me fascinated with excellent comparisons. The lively interaction and conversations between modern and Medieval characters made me feel I had slipped through time and was seeing history in the making. I enjoyed the curiosities of the past so vividly described and anxiously wondered, as did Schoolmaster and student, if the jig would be up or if one clever clue would lead to another. The character development and network of story lines made this a page turner for me in the traditions of the best kind of fiction.

That there was ever a planet called Earth, only Earl Dumarest believed. He had been seeking it a long time, though nobody else at the crowded galactic center believed in it. He had acquired some bits of information during his search outwards: a terrestrial zodiac, an authentic painting of Luna, a general series of hints that he was getting closer. Then he learned of a man who knew where Earth was, who had the special coordinates that would take a starship directly to it!
The man had lived on Elysius, and his widow knew where his data was. She demanded a price from Dumarest - a chore that involved a mining expedition, which would bring her back a fortune and him the information.
But Elysius was not the Elysium its name projected - and the terra data did not so rapidly come by!

    Publisher's Summary:
In the year 2234, scientists have successfully achieved forward time travel. The Research Institute at Turtle Lake, North Dakota, has spent over 30 years working on the project. Lane Mason would be the first human to enter the capsule. And Lane knew when he volunteered for the project that he would never be able to return.
When he exits the capsule in 3853 to find a brutal world where the human race has been enslaved by huge corporations, Lane regrets leaving the capsule. Corporate slaves make up 96 percent of the human race, spend their lives working in slave prisons, and are used to provide human organs to the privileged elite.
Lane barely survives for a year in the prison farm. He considers starting a rebellion, but he soon realizes that any attempt to start a rebellion would be futile. The corporations have gradually and completely wiped out the real history of the human race. Prisoners have no idea that humans were once free. But even amid the brutality of an enslaved planet, love still finds a way. Humans are human, after all.
Lane's only hope is to escape the prison and return to the capsule. Although he can't return home to his time, if he is able to escape, he can travel forward in time in the hope that the distant future will be better. But what would a world in the distant future, far beyond the prisons of the 39th century be like? Would the prisons still exist? Would the human race still exist? Would Earth itself still exist? Lane decides that he is better off dying as a free man in an unknown future than living as a slave.
This story has two distinct parts: Part one takes place on Earth in the 39th century. Part two takes place in the distant future, far beyond the brutality of the 39th century. It is a story about the strength of love that endures in spite of an endless series of hardships.

For millions of years the members of the Space/Time Research Council of the planet Vevetta II have chronicled the histories of the planets of the known universe. Their two main rules: Never alter the flow of history, and never travel into the future. But all this has changed.
A researcher named Warliam Nathback broke the rule about going into the future and found out that the ruling organization of the planet Earth, The Monopolis, was destined to conquer Vevetta II.
Upon returning to Vevetta II, Warliam warned his people, but the only action they took was to debate the issue. Finally, in frustration, Warliam forcibly took the council hostage. The situation ended badly when Warliam's oldest friend, Flink Plexaha, interceded and tried to stop him. It ended with Warliam shooting and injuring Flink Plexaha and killing Flink's assistant and lover, Tya Yivata.
Afterward, Warliam was sent to prison, and Flink went into the wilderness to deal with his loss. Now Warliam has escaped prison and is on his way to Earth to change history and save Vevetta II from the threat of The Monopolis. And the S.T.R. Council has sent for the one person they believe can stop Warliam: Flink Plexaha...also known as The Traveler.
The Traveler: A Conflict of Interest is the first novel in the Traveler Chronicles series by author William Pattison, aka Eric Morse. It is a stirring sci-fi story in the tradition of Star Trek, Doctor Who, and The Terminator.

Intriguing time-travel tale with the promise of more
Author William Pattison takes the post-modern girl-fic romance out of Dr Who and returns readers to the tradition of a present-day earth, deeply threatened in space and time, while nobody knows whatâs going on. The protagonist of his Traveler series isnât "the Doctor," of course, and his character is all his ownâblending a modern TV incarnationâs romance with the scholarly detachment of the originals, and adding a touch of Scooby-Doo perhaps. Thereâs a nicely Master-like antagonist, former friend now intent on changing earthâs history, which gives rise to intriguing questions of how far one could go to save civilization, and how possible change might be. Plus thereâs an intriguing back-story/mystery in the love-interestânot a cliff-hanger ending, but an enjoyable sense of completeness and more to come.
Fun fiction for fans of Dr. Who and Scooby, with the promise of more. Enjoy.
Disclosure: I found it on a deal and I offer my honest review.
    A rare miss for Pattison
Since Amazon doesn't have zero stars, I am forced to give it one. I confess I couldn't finish the book, I tried because I really wanted to give a fair and full review, but it's flaws are just too many. If you are a William Pattison fan, and who isn't, you will still be disappointed, it's not up to his usual standard. Best bet and hope that with his upcoming Robert Diablo he will be back in his normal form, which honestly is mediocre at best, but will be sure to better please his fans
    Bad.
If you want to pay for bad Dr. Who fan fiction this book is for you. Me? I'd rather spend the money on a ball peen hammer and repeatedly whack myself in the temple with it, it's much more enjoyable and slightly less painful.
    Huge pile of crap
    Worthless Fan Fiction.

The island of St. Martin is the glittering jewel of the French Caribbean. When fire threatens its narrow streets and skyscraper-studded waterfronts, the daring airborne firemen of Marin-Pyronef answer the call. Their remotely piloted drones can suffocate flames before conventional fire engines could even roll out of the station, while their jumpcraft can drop rescuers onto the roofs of buildings that no ladder could reach. This is the vision that the company's founder, veteran smoke jumper Florian Archambeault, has spent the last 20 years building into a model of firefighting excellence.
Now, in a single afternoon, 70 years of domination by St. Martin's corrupt Colonial Administration comes crashing down. In haste to evacuate after a stunning military defeat, four people are trapped atop the administration headquarters by a raging fire. Locked in a safe room with their air supply running low, only one fire company has a chance to save them. This is the rescue that would make Marin-Pyronef's reputation on the world stage, and finally vindicate what Florian has spent a lifetime trying to prove.
    But there's a problem.
Among those trapped is despised colonial commissioner Pascal Beaulieu, the man who ruined and exiled Florian two decades ago. Will Florian's sense of duty trump his thirst for revenge? Can he afford to save the most hated man on the island?

    Great short story
With short stories, it is often difficult to pull off an emotional connection to the story or characters in the book, as you only have a small snapshot of time with them. Michael somehow overcomes this limitation with ease in this action packed story. It left me both content with the ending, and wanting more of this universe and their characters.
My one, and only complaint, is that the narration would have benefitted from more distinct voice acting per character.
