    Publisher's Summary:
During the summer of her GCSEs Kite's world falls apart when her best friend, Dawn, commits suicide. Kite senses Dawn's spirit around her and it's not until she meets local boy, Garth, that Kite begins to open up - talking to a stranger is easier somehow.
Kite would do anything to speak to Dawn just once more, to understand why Otherwise how can she ever say goodbye?
    Members Reviews:
    Ghostly look at death
It wouldnât be spoiling the story to say it is about teen suicide seeing that is the main aspect of its promo.
There arenât many stories about teen suicide, and judging from this one, there arenât many good ones.
âKite Spiritâ tells of Kiteâs grieving process following the suicide of her best friend, Dawn, an accomplished oboe player, âAâ student and perfectionist. Kiteâs grief is palpable in the first few pages, until we are subjected to recurring words and phrases, chapter after chapter. We see not so much a grieving teenager but a self-centred whining teenager who has her best friendâs death to deal with.
The scenario changes when Kiteâs loving Dad, Seth, takes her to his geographical origins in the Lakes District of England; but the wallowing, self-pitying, repetitive tone doesnât let up. The house they rent, the waterfall, stream and paths didnât make much visual sense to me. And everyone she meets seems negative in Kiteâs jaundiced eye. There is a love interest with Garth that isnât well-developed â insta-love some would call it.
Garth is building a sculpture of sorts in a temporarily-dried-up riverbed that was flooded by a dam for Manchester cityâs electricity supply, where Sethâs forebears lived. Some chapters later, we are conversely told that another valley in which Agnes Landseer, Garthâs grandmother and Kiteâs temporary landlady, lives, could be the place where Sethâs great grandparents lived. Contradictory.
The ghostly scenes and the owl references just made me want to roll my eyes. The author could have told either a ghost story or kept it real, but by using a mish-mash, she did neither well.
There are endless descriptions of the scenes. Really! This is just filler in an otherwise fairly plot-less narrative. The elements and scenes feel cobbled together to make a novel, but it could have easily fitted into a short story, as IMHO there is no plot or revelation, and no character development that I could discern.
    Gentle, easy read
A gentle read about the devastation of losing, finding and understanding.
We follow Kite as she tries to come to terms with the suicide of her best friend Dawn. Going through the stages of grieving, there is plenty of `what if' and `why' for Kite to think about.
I was first introduce to Sita Brahmachari with `Artichoke Hearts', however I didn't actually finish the book because I wasn't fond of her way of writing as it was quite childish and I couldn't engage well with the story. Having said that in this book Brahmachari guides the reader through the delicate process of losing someone, using delicate wording to convey different meanings effectively. I really enjoyed the meaning of the owls, along with many hidden meanings that are there to help keep Dawn alive in spirit and for Kite to cling on to some kind of reality.
A gentle, delicate and easy read. Covering such a sad subject is hard to understand but Brahmachari has tackled it well.

I never knew that this book was by a ghostwriter.
I never knew that this book was by a ghostwriter.I loved it even though it was alittle crazy with the whole blair and nate and I wanna be bonnie and clyde thing. if you like teen books you realize that it follows the formula that katherine applegate so famously put down, they just have to be creative and I think they did just that. its supposed to be fun not a nobel prize winner. and for people who say its a waste of money.... how old are you anyway??? so many teens are not reading now and days I rather spend money on a trashy novel in hopes that they read it, intstead of an 11.00 movie ticket ( not to mention the cost of popcorn)

My new university is a renovated medieval monastery in Slovakia called Dux Ducis' (leader of leaders in Latin). The university is run by professors from all over the world. Monks abandoned it many years ago, not exactly the place an eighteen-year-old girl wants to be, except I don't have a choice.
I am Sweden's Crown Princess Paola Katarina. The monastery houses male and female royalty.
My best friends are Crown Princess Sofia Eleonora from Finland and Crown Prince Oskar Niklas from Norway.
Monks' former cells were rebuilt into large dormitories that accommodate two students of the same gender. The boys' dorms are on the left side, the girls' on the right. A central garden divides us.
The dining room is by the main entrance, the kitchen and laundry rooms are on the right side. The classrooms are in the back of the monastery. Because students have different religions, the last room on the left, which was double the size of the others, was used by the students who wanted to pray or meditate. Half of the room had perfectly carved wooden benches, the other half was empty, and three beautiful chandeliers illuminated medieval castles paintings.
My father, King Rikard, and Sofia's father, King Alpertti, arranged for us to have the same dorm. Oskar is also attending our university, and that's perfect. We are the same age and have known each other since we were little.
I have been engaged to Crown Prince Dominick Sander from Denmark since I was six years old. He will be one more royal in the monastery.

    Title: Dakota Divided
    Author: Josh Clark
    Narrator: John Glouchevitch
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 19 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-24-14
    Publisher: White Feather Press
    Genres: Teens, Fiction & Literature
    Publisher's Summary:
Fifteen-year-old Dakota Lester has never been accused of being popular, having friends or even being remotely attractive. Convinced that by becoming a sarcastic, obnoxious cut-up he can win friends and maybe even climb out of Infinity High School's social septic tank, Dakota adopts the persona of Lester the Jester to mask the hurt of being unaccepted both at school and by a father who walked out on him when he was younger.
Skinny as a rail and as athletic as a lima bean, Dakota wants nothing more than to break into student government, if only to sniff the hair of senior super-beauty, Addie Wilkins. But when Infinity High School's own in-house bully, Blake Blanton, tags Dakota as his personal chew toy, Dakota quickly finds himself immersed in a dangerous world of vandalism and moral ambiguity.
Warring with a lack of identity and burdened by feelings of abandonment by his father, Dakota begins to cozy up to the life of a con-in-training while also trying to discern his feelings for his best friend, a misunderstood emo artist named Erin. With Blake Blanton thumbing Dakota's pressure points, Dakota must face his own personal demons and determine whether he can accept himself for who he is and not for what others want him to be.
Dakota Divided is a tale of feeling comfortable in your own shoes and being able to love and forgive even in the toughest of circumstances. Witty, heartwarming and real, Dakota is able to make you laugh and cry-sometimes at the same time.
    Members Reviews:
Great example of teen peer pressure and bullying
I received a copy of this book from the author. It is the first book in the Dakota Lester series and it has readers wondering what they would do... stand up to a bully and risk you and your friends getting beat up, or go along with the bully's plans and do things that are against your morals? In Dakota Divided, Clark's character, Dakota Lester, continually faces this decision. He is caught between a rock and a hard place and for him it seems there isn't a right way out of his situation.
Dakota feels like an outcast in school and he also struggles with his feelings toward his father who walked out on him and his mom when he was younger. He hides the pain of being unaccepted by using wit and sarcasm to become "Lester the Jester". In order to get noticed by his crush, he decides to run for freshman class president, but his social status is hurt when the school bully Blake Blanton starts picking on him. In order to protect himself and his friends, Dakota starts to go along with and execute Blanton's "assignments". How long can he deal with Blanton until his actions catch up to him?
Just like you might hit pause while watching a movie during a suspenseful scene, at times I had to put the book down and walk away. Clark puts Dakota in multiple situations where he must choose to stand up for himself and what he believes in or to continue being bullied. These moments will have readers screaming at Dakota to say "no" to Blanton and his friends or at least for Dakota to tell someone about what is going on in his life.
Clark's style of writing is so natural and easy to read. He mixes humor throughout the book which helps to lighten the mood when dealing with the serious undertones of the story. Dakota is completely relatable. Either you are like him or you know someone who is like him. He masks his feelings.

Read on, and see how Kevin fares against this turmoil with help from his friend, Connor Billingsley. There might be hope for him after all.

Not all is as it seems
Overall the story was really well done and fun to listen to too, I felt that the narrator was sometimes going to fast paced but did a great job non the less. The story is short but very good and funny and leaves you wanting more from this author. A book for children but anyone can read it and enjoy.
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review
    A Great Little Story!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend it to anyone with kids wanting a good book to read or anyone dealing with bullies & needing a little extra courage.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Terwilliger's Tombstone Terror?
I liked the little jokes Kevin would tell, such as ... the butcher said he would get Kevin some meat for his black eye just as soon as he rang a lady out. Kevin said she doesn't look wet! (LOL)
Which character as performed by Ben Kass was your favorite?
I like Kevin & Conner. The 2 boys together always had each others backs and were funny. Just how friends should be.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes I did listen to this book in 1 setting!
    Any additional comments?
I liked the story as written by Edward Petty. IT had fun and adventure in it. Spoke of bullies and reprimands by teachers. This is how school was back in the 50s & 60s. I think there is still a lot this book can teach kids. I like how the narrator read the book too! It was read flawlessly & with lots of excitement.
An excellent story and wonderful performance.
Would you consider the audio edition of Terwilliger's Tombstone Terror to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Terwilliger's Tombstone Terror?
The message that someone isn't exactly what they seem to be on the surface.
Have you listened to any of Ben Kasss other performances before? How does this one compare?
    No.
    Any additional comments?
A novella reminiscent of such stories that build on the relationship of friends as The Sandlot or The Body, here is a piece that is full of both nostalgia and humor. Kevin Terwiliger is new to town and immediately makes friends with another boy named Connor Billingsley. The two are forced to face the school bully, who is introduced to the reader when he demands Kevins daily lunch money.
Kevins parents get him a job at the local cemetery and talks Connor into helping him out. The two of them convince the school bully to meet them there and this is where all three boys learn that their original opinions of one another may not be all theyre cracked up to be.
If I had a complaint about this one it would merely be that it ended in such a way that made me want to know more.
Note: I received a copy of the audio version of this story in exchange for a review.

    Publisher's Summary:
Dont miss The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, now a major motion picture. Discover this first installment of the internationally best-selling Mortal Instruments series and prepare to be hooked (Entertainment Weekly).
When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.
    Members Reviews:
    Could be better
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I couldn't finish this book. The writing is good for the young adult genre but the narrator is mediocre at best. I could have gotten past the horrible British accents but I couldn't stand her reading style in general. It's very...forced and immature. Emma Gavin and Marisa Calin are much better narrators. But perhaps it's the director's fault. Regardless, I would skip the audio and read the paperback.
Adults who loves fantasy, skip this book.
If you are new to the fantasy genre, this is a cute, fun world. The narrator needs to work on her accents/dialects but is otherwise fine. But if you are an Adult who loves fantasy, skip this book. You will find no new ideas or surprises here.
Six of one, half-dozen of the other
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, if you haven't listened to the original version of City of Bones, narrated by Ari Graynor. If you're like me and have the Ari Graynor version, don't bother. When I say "six of one, half-dozen of the other", I mean both versions are mediocre, as far as narration goes. The story is worth it though, so if you haven't read or listened to City of Bones, go for it! It's worth the credit. If you're just looking for a different version with better narration, don't waste your credit.
What did you like best about this story?
City of Bones opens a captivating young adult series, The Mortal Instruments. Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter world is cleverly-built and the stories exciting. Keeping up with Clary as she learns about her heritage and discovers the world around her kept me hooked through all six books.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Mae Whitman?
Maybe? She wasn't terrible as a narrator, but her accents were.
