    Publisher's Summary:
Christopher Quincy was an American boy whose father admired everything British. As a result of this trait, Chris found himself trapped at St. Baskets, an ancient London school founded - and built - in the time of Henry VIII and, Chris thought, it looked it. The corridors were dim and drafty, and the rooms of the boarding pupils, of whom Chris was one of four, were gloomy and unpretentious. Still, Chris had good company in his two roommates, Leslie Plainfield, who was English, and David Choudhry, a Pakistani. The three were close friends, which made it all the more horrifying when Chris and Leslie saw Mr. Jaggers, the games master, deliberately, so it seemed, break Davids leg with a hockey stick. Unaccountably, Mr. and Miss Grime, the school heads, refused to have a doctor for David. In the midst of apparent security and traditional British calm, a truly macabre and dangerous situation was building up. How Chris schemed desperately to get help from outside is told in the exciting and often hilarious story of a modern American boys courage and ingenuity.

    Beautiful, heartfelt book
I've read a few of this author's books, and each one is unique and different - nice to see that. In this one, a girl must comes to grips with her difficult, long-estranged father - while trying to find herself as a 16 year old. As part of the process, she undertakes a 70-mile bike ride, as her father does each year, and reflects on what she's learned. Good stuff. Probably good for ages 10+.
    Nothing to do with mirrors
Sixteen-year-old Olivia leaves her Berkley home for rural New Hampshire to give her father, a man she has never known, a chance to make amends. One year later she returns to the home she inherited from her father upon his untimely death to make a symbolic journey on bicycle, following the path her father had annually taken. In this act she proves that she is worthy of inheriting his legacy, and of being his daughter. This realistic fictional account about the relationship between a father and a daughter takes place in the modern day. Apporoved for ages 12+ and appropriate for a study on relationships. Not much action and rather slow-moving.

In this striking departure from the historical novels he is so well known for, James Lincoln Collier has written a powerful - even shocking - novel that challenges and defies the rhetoric of contemporary America.
    Critic Reviews:
The compassion found in Colliers award-winning historical fiction carries this story through the betrayals and terrible truths of Harrys life. Readers will be angered by Harrys treatment at the hands of others, as well as enlightened by his intelligence, which comes shining through. (Publishers Weekly)

    E + P 4-ever!
Finally, after wading through lots of simple, boring teen books, this little gem arrives. Without my Entertainment Weekly Bible, I wouldn't have discovered this fantastic teen love story, coming to a movie screen soon near you.
Eleanor is back with her Mom, step-Dad and four siblings in a miserable household attending a new school in 1986, finding an unlikely friend in Park. Both points of view shine light on the loneliness, isolation, bullying, and the dare to hope and connect in the world of teenage angst. When Eleanor thinks she's fat, Park describes her as beautiful. Couldn't wait to hear what the other had to say about the same situation.
This book is well-written, almost like Rowell popped the top on the teen brain with all the first, raw emotions spilling out into a funny, lugubrious, intense singular story line with the perfect ending. Just bought his newer book, "Fangirl" and am excited to see Rebecca Lowman is narrating as well. She and Sunil Malhotra were fantastic in "Eleanor and Park". This was an excellent read.
    Narrators were perfect
I've never been much of a romantic - more like an emotional porcupine - but I can appreciate a good love story. This didn't strike me as a good one. I never got it. I never understood how it went from sharing comic books and music to this obsessive NEED for each other. The friendship I got. The romance? Not so much. I did like how the author showed the wide difference between how Eleanor saw herself and how Park saw her. I also liked how the story of Eleanor's past was revealed in bits and pieces. It lent to its impact, because the author makes you really like Eleanor and want all the best for her, and then you find out the injustices of her past and it's just that much more maddening. Then there was Park. He is a sweet guy but struggles with his own pettiness. That's part of why I didn't understand the romance part- he's a regular kid worried about what others think. He's definitely a great role model for young people, with his willingness to stick up for the bullied, and in a mean school environment, that's no small achievement of character. But beyond those few plusses, I didn't find the story to be compelling or even particularly interesting. Narrators for both Eleanor and Park were perfect.
    slow
the story was drawn out and slow. it's semi clamatic, however more or a moral sob story. teens should read.
Hanging on every lyric, and every word.
    I loved this book.

    More suspenseful than scary.
A different sort of cheese but something a little more robust, I think. Hohâs characters are a bit more fleshed out, have better personalities, arenât crappy people to each other. So already things are looking up.
What I will say against the Nightmare Hall books as a whole is that sometimes it canât decide if it wants to be in high school or college. Talk of being in home room (not a thing in college) and just the general feel of the setting a lot of the time felt more high school when directly related to the classes themselves. It really wasnât too sure of itself in that regard. And then it would talk about roommates and the campus and off-campus housing and it felt a little more college there but then SCHOOL would come back up and it would flip flop again. It made for a kind of jerky read from a setting standpoint.
As for the story Hoh does a good job of setting up suspense. All signs definitely point to Quinn doing these things while sheâs sleepwalking but the only thing we donât have is why and youâre left to claw through everything to figure that out while more people get attacked. Once other clues start getting dropped that work against Quinn, the suspense around her sleepwalking starts to crack and before long that theory is disproved. Even then that opens a whole new can of worms because who could it be then and still, WHY?
I wouldnât say NIGHT WALKER was so much scary as it was suspenseful. People got hurt but no one actually died, there was never any kind of supernatural element to the plot, and all you had was, essentially, a murder mystery without the murder. Which is fine. I didnât mind that at all. But itâs not horror. It was creepier when the potential was on Quinn possibly doing these things in her sleep and not knowing about it, or why she was doing it. Once that dissolved the suspense kind of went with it. It tapered off after that for me and once all the clues clicked into place to reveal who it really was it was just kind of meh. Standard fair, really.
THE NIGHT WALKER is still better than the later Fear Street books just because all of the characters are better and more realistic but I definitely wasnât scared reading it. Suspenseful, sure. But not scary.
    3.5
    A case of whodunnit.
It'll keep you guessing until the tragic end. At night, someone has been committing awful crimes at Salem U. People are getting hurt and there are many suspects.

You do not wanna miss this one, guys! Sure got my heart beating faster!
I love books like The Maze Runner, Half Bad, Legend, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, SYLO and the like, and as you might have noticed, books like Divergent and The Hunger Games gets a lot of attention these days; teens love the dystopian stuff. Though I'm not sure if this title comes under that chatagory, I know that it is set sometime in the future shortly after recovering from a great war. There's worldbuilding and a system different from the one we are familiar with. I have had my Kindle since May last year, and this was one of the first books I got, and I just finished it recently. Not because it was bad! It wasn't! It's just that I stumbled upon other titles I was more interested in and kinda forgot about The Disappeared. Thank you God that I remembered it and finished it! Great read! I am 19 years old, is an author, have read over 1000 books, my bed is literally a pile of literature, and The Disappeared is now one of my favourite books of all time. Personally I'm a little tired of all the female pont-of-view books that are so popular, and it was refreshing with an action packed, original and well-thought out book told from a male's point-of-view. The characters are great and easy to remember, and there is never a boring moment, as long as you read past chapter 6, but what I love the most is the whole plot, the idea, the story behind it all. I would recomend this to all of you looking for action, a laugh now and then, and a good story to keep you entertained. This title needs more credit and attention! Don't miss this great read, dear fellow brothers and sisters og the Earth!
An Interesting Focus on the Institutions
    Short Blurb:
In this futuristic society, children are segregated into institutions, ranging from the "Learning Communities" (which are the well off school with plenty of resources and a focus on intelligence) and the "Local Academies" (which might be a worse system than the lowest of prisons where the children are treated like animals and education is sparse).
Seventeen-year-old Jackson has grown up in a top Learning Community as one of the smartest pupils. But one day, all that changes when he's sent to deliver a package and his identity is wiped from the system. He's sent to the Academy where he has to learn how to survive in a system that values ginger hair and fighting skills over intelligence.
