    Publisher's Summary:
Set in two iconic locales - Hollywood's legendary Chateau Marmont and Fresno's amazing Forestiere's Underground Garden - Waiting for Lipchitz at Chateau Marmont is a bold and colorful critique of the California Dream through the perspective of a screenwriter who has gone from riches to rags.
A kind of Hollywood version of Waiting for Godot, Janigian's Lipchitz is a stunningly original take on the absent protagonist and what is illuminated in the void.

    Kind of sleepy
Never got too excited about what I was reading. Let it got about 1/3 of the way in.
A brilliant, extremely funny, and acerbic novel by one of our great young novelists
Waiting for Lipschitz at the Chateau Marmont is a brilliant, extremely funny, and acerbic novel by one of the great young novelists in our country today. In this, his fourth novel, Aris Janigian has produced an intense and compelling work that I could not put down. The narrator is a once popular screenwriter down on his luck who, while waiting at this classic Hollywood hotel famed for its seductions and deal for a producer who he hopes will turn around his career, spends his time reminiscing about his glory days and raging against not just the depraved money culture of Hollywood, but that of Los Angeles, all of Southern California, and indeed, modern American urban life. There are hints here of Dostoyevskyâs underground man, but I read this work as close in feeling to the powerful rants of the late, great Austrian novelist Thomas Bernhard, save for the fact that unlike Bernhard, Janigian is not afraid of displaying a tender and romantic side, a love for the land and the joys of a natural world that stands in opposition to much of contemporary life. The authorâs descriptions of the amazing variety, shapes, and colors of the fruits of vegetables of San Joaquin Valley will make you want to rush off to Fresno to sample their delights. Iâm packing my bags right now!
If the Marquis de Sade wrote a book about L.A. It would be Waiting for Lipchitz.
If the Marquis de Sade wrote a book about L.A. It would be Waiting for Lipchitz.
Janigian turns the key, releases the handbrake and your mind plummets into the cold descent into hell; Southern California, the so called bastion of creativity. Janigianâs words drill a hole in your skull, your third eye opens and everything suddenly becomes clear.
Never mind about 5.1 surround sound, 4k TV and virtual reality glasses, Waiting for Lipchitz tears a new hole in the fabric of reality.
The real hero of the story is John Hirschmann, best friend of the narrator. A novelist who leaves L.A. for the rich soil and fresh produce of Fresno California, the real promised land. In the central valley Hirschmann finds the peace and an inner calm he was looking for that was missing in L.A.
The narrator follows Hirschmannâs path only to be sucked back into the air-conditioned hell hole of L.A. when Lipchitz sends him a text about meeting him at the Chateau Marmont.
Torn between L.A. and Fresno, the narrator takes the reader on a ride of biblical proportions.
Reading about Fresno brought a feeling of calmness, reading about L.A. tore my psyche apart.
Waiting for Lipchitz is an incredible travel guide, documenting heaven (Fresno) and hell.

This story is a gem representing the delightful stories from the Indian subcontinent which capture the simple essence of everyday life in rural/urban India. The simple pleasures of life indicate a time gone by, before the advent of cellphones and Facebook, a time which almost stood still, a time where children could revel in the rain, make paper boats and race them down a drain, play marbles, and generally pass time.
The once idyllic life almost seems too slow and bear, and hence is fascinating to watch unfurl as we hear the story.

    Any additional comments?
This audiobook touch such a serious topics, drugs and death. My heart ache for the characters and in one way or another will touch our personal lives
    Heartbreaking.
Callie Novak is a track star and lives a good life, until one night when her world comes tumbling down! Her father and twin brother are killed in a car accident and when the truth comes out about the fact that her brother was driving while under the influence of drugs, it hits her hard. Digging into her brothers life, she finds that he was a drug addict, she realises that she knew the signs but with her busy life, she just didn't want to believe it. Now it's too late!
But Callie's life is about to spiral into the realm that her brother took and she can't seem to stop it. Things hit rock bottom for her and her life disintegrates, how can she find the strength to do what her brother couldn't? Will she face her greatest fear and admit she has a problem?
This was such a heartbreaking read. It deals with the harsh reality of drugs and the level addicts will go to to get their next fix. It's raw, it's gritty but it's also happening every day to someone. It's a hard book to read if you know someone dealing with any kind of addiction, but it's also a much needed one too. It gives a little glimmer of hope in the midst of darkness and shows that not all is necessarily lost.
As always, Ashley Fontainne knows how to tell a great story filled with emotion and one that will grip you till the very end. She has an amazing ability of making you immersed into all her books and this is no different. This book is a compelling, heartbreaking read and one that will stay with me for a long time!
I haven't listened to a book narrated by Andrea Emmes in a while and it reminded me what I was missing!! She has such an easy to listen to voice and can bring any book to life. You can tell that this book moved her too by her emotions while reading it. Definitely worth a listen!!
*I received a free copy of this but voluntarily reviewed it. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.*
nitty-gritty dirty underbelly of the drug world
Callie had it all; loving parents and a twin brother (all with their own demons) and an athletic prowess that gave her a chance at a free ride to the college of her choice. Disaster strikes and Callie hits rock bottom, not once and not even twice but multiple times before her guardian angel helps her to cope. Driven to pills and heavier drugs to deal with her emotional issues, Callie finds herself walking the dark side and faced with decisions that no one should have to make especially one fresh out of high school.
Ashley Fontainne writes a captivating book that takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster from page one through to the end. Fontainne is an excellent author who uses vivid prose to connect the audience to each character and situation.

Well written book about a very uncommon friendship
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is so well written you will feel completely immersed into it! I listened to the audiobook version and would highly recommend.
"The Boy & the Dolphin" is a unique story about Toby and a bottlenose dolphin named Phinney. These uncommon friends endure many trials and tribulations during the 1950's, including the Vietnam war.
This book can be enjoyed by a wide variety of ages and even my husband who normally never reads or finishes a book!
    Fun listen
What did you love best about The Boy and the Dolphin?
This was a great book to listen to. The narrator was great and kept the author's scientific information interesting. Not only was I pleased with the production (the narrator's voice and delivery) but the descriptions of the source material were extremely informative while still holding my attention. The plot might have been a bit simplistic, but the flow of the book lent itself to being a valid, lifelike story. It felt realistic.
Definitely would suggest as a read for animal lovers, and those who want a good conservation story.
What other book might you compare The Boy and the Dolphin to and why?
I haven't read other conservation books like this one.
What does Joe Carey bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He does well on being both a fictional and scientific narrator.
If you could rename The Boy and the Dolphin, what would you call it?
    Pals
A wonderful story of lifelong friendship
What did you love best about The Boy and the Dolphin?
I loved the theme of this book. It spans time. The friendship between Toby and Phinney. It grows from a time of need through the most harrowing times in life.
Have you listened to any of Joe Careys other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, but I would be happy to listen to him again.
    Any additional comments?
This book is a well written and well read book for young adults and adults alike. It will make the reader take stock of their friendships. It is a coming of age and more, and an exploration of Island culture in the 50s.I would recommend this book, and not just because I LOVE dolphins. It may sound strange, but I love the "wonder" in this book. Sent to live with his grandparents due to unfortunate circumstances, Toby and Phinney's friendship started out of need, but ended up as a true story of the tenacity of love and friendship.

    A complicated Disney story
First off, this is not a mystery, thriller, suspense type of book in anyway whatsoever even though the summary led me to believed these would be underlying themes. There was an excess of whimsy (ex. talking dogs, little girl having conversations with foxes etc) and confusion to the point where I thought the story was morphing into a supernatural realm. I was often confused and kept waiting for the story line to reveal itself but it instead got more involved, and more characters and conflicts kept being introduced. It was entertaining, but for such a long book I wish I knew more about the story and what a i was getting into. So as long as you know what kind of book it is and that nothing really gets resolved or even clarified, then you might enjoy it.

So many songs, so many memories
the music that fills this book is from the best times in my life,
i loved the story as well and could relate to the characters
Being a Rosie and Don fan i really looked forward to what Graeme had in store for a follow up novel and found this book to be a 'great read' (listen) The narration (and the accent) were both great
The Best of Adam Sharp - Not a Bung Note In It
What made the experience of listening to The Best of Adam Sharp the most enjoyable?
Readers of Graeme Simsion's latest book The Best of Adam Sharp may be surprised by the initial differences to the Rosie books, but they will not I think be disappointed. The Best of Adam Sharp is easily approached but is ultimately profound commentary on love from the male perspective, strongly plot driven with sex, food and wine for good measure.
To draw a parallel to the film Love Actually, which weaves the stories of several pairs of lovers, the Rosie books would be the Hugh Grant/Martine McCutcheon story; mismatched lovers, funny and slightly silly.

But soon a disturbing series of events leaves Faith increasingly isolated from her family and paranoid about her sister's motives. Members Reviews:
Without a doubt one of my favourite YA authors.
Cat Clarke has got be with out a doubt one of my favourite YA authors. I've read nearly all of her books and have highly enjoyed every one of them.
The majority of this authors books tend to be along the lines of suicide and sexuality which makes The Lost and the Found stand out slightly with it being a totally different story line.
The Lost and the Found is a bit of a slow burner, not in a bad way though. Whilst not as dark as her other books, there is just something about this story line that keeps you intrigued and makes you want to read more.
Faith and her family have pretty much plodded though the last thirteen years since Laurel went missing. All of them coping with her disappearance in their own way. When Laurel suddenly turns up after all those years, all but Faith are ecstatic to have her back.
I really felt for Faith, she has missed her big sister and overall is glad to have her back, but being an only child for the last thirteen years has her worrying how having Laurel back will alter that. Some people might see that as being selfish but I think it is a big adjustment for all the family and all of a sudden the parents attention is all focused on one sibling while not meaning to, but to a certain extent leaving the other one out.
Not only does Faith find it hard adjusting to having Laurel back home but she keeps getting a little niggle that something isn't quite right with her sister which she tries to put down to what must have happened to her when she was abducted.
Laurel is certainly a hard character to fathom out. Obviously she has been through a traumatic time and at times my heart really went out to her. Other times though, like Faith, I had certain doubts and fears.
The Lost and the Found is a story full of mystery and suspense. The author slowly takes the reader on a journey of discovery and relationships. It makes for a fascinating read and as with the authors other books, the ending always leaves me feeling a whole bunch of emotions whilst leaving me quite breathless. Another great read.

    Publisher's Summary:
The most tempting of white powders, cocaine, is everywhere. Young men and women sniff the recreational drug as often as they spark up cigarettes or sip beer. It's typical of a generation educated by music videos and tabloid newspapers.
I'm Jimmy Walker, a smart young man with a caring family around me. I'd have the world at my feet...if I wasn't addicted to cocaine. A change of scenery can be a good thing, but it turns out that moving from suburban England to the south of Spain isn't the best idea when trying to get clean.
The Costa del Sol is Europe's main point of entry for my favorite poison, cocaine. Under the Marbella sun, I'm falling deeper into the darkness of drug addiction. With pockets full of cash and bags full of cocaine, I'm being led astray by a psychopath named Jason, an Aussie who loves the sort of random violence I'd only ever seen in films.
Getting high is easy. So is hitting rock bottom. But can I get clean?
    Members Reviews:
Why sacrifice getting freedom and high for that white stuff...
Although I am not really a fan of crime fiction, but I like the way the author illustrate the scenes so real as if I am taking it myself. There is this quote that I like... "Get clean, James. Just get clean - Jimmy's sister.
This novel happened in modern day setting with the backdrop that drug addiction, rehabs, betrayal, murder is very rampant. I like the way the author talked about these events in such vivid scenes. The author takes the readers into the world of drugs (or the dark-side of our modern day society) where the main character, Jimmy was turned from a fine young man to a drug addict. It's so real.
The main character, Jimmy Walker is a fine young man with adorable and likeable character but unfortunately lost his sense of life directions. However, Jimmy does preserved some little soul of sensibility. Jimmy is fully aware of his addictions, but he tried various efforts to jump up from the bottom. His life undergoes tremendous roller-coaster. There are lots twists and turns as he get involved into the drug dealing arena. Having said that, I am totally impressed how the author really takes great pains to illustrate this character in totality. There is another character that I like is that gorgeous, flirty landlady, Sarah. Being a man, I like the way she flirted with Jimmy and his friend, Jason. This lady is also a drug dealer like Jason. She really knows how to dress so well and really has a class of it's own. To me, she is the ultimate perfect woman to mix up with. The author does really know how to increase the sex appeal of this woman.
This is my first time reading Jams N Rose novel - Get Clean. This book is a great book with lots of surprises and twists. However, this book may not be suitable for younger audience as it does introduce them to drug. Overall, the author is very careful for not sharing too much of this trade. If you like great crime fiction, psychological thriller, you'll definitely get lots of entertainment and enjoyment out of this novel.
This is my first time reading a novel by Jams N. Roses - Get Clean. All I say is that this book is a simple to follow book with great scenes on what is actually drug addiction and how it all get started from an innocent person. This book has lots of interesting twists, surprises that will thrills most mature adult readers. However, due to it's nature, I would advised parents to be guided when introducing this book to teens and young adults.
