Robbie Jordan may have had reservations about the murder victim, but she still needs to turn up the heat on a killer if she wants to keep her new restaurant open for business....
In the charming small town of South Lick, Indiana, Robbie has transformed a rundown country store into the runaway hit Pans 'N Pancakes. But the most popular destination for miles around can also invite trouble.
Erica Shermer may be the widow of handsome local lawyer Jim Shermer's brother, but she doesn't appear to be in mourning. At a homecoming party held in Robbie's store, Erica is alternately obnoxious and flirtatious - even batting her eyelashes at Jim.
When Erica turns up dead in the store the next morning, apparently clobbered with cookware, the police suspect Robbie's friend Phil, who closed up after the party. To clear Phil and calm her customers, Robbie needs to step out from behind the counter and find the real killer in short order....

    Mild Improvement
While the second book showed some improvement in character development, I still couldn't relate to Robbie, who never, ever bitched moaned or complained. Sorry, but after working in both restaurants and retail, I find it difficult to believe that Robbie could work 9-10 hard hours on her feet, 6 days a week but never be tired or grumpy.
Also, as a new business owner, Robbie spent more time trying to solve crimes than refining her menu and selection of merchandise. Even a smart woman who enjoyed solving puzzles would realize that the business needed her total and undivided attention.
I did appreciate that Robbie tried to be self-sufficient, not looking for a man to take care of her. I cheered when she was able to defend herself in a dangerous situation, but I expected more emotion when a romantic relationship crashed & burned.
    Disappointed
This was an okay follow up to the previous book. The story was entertaining and overall I enjoyed the book. However, I had a couple of issues with it as well.
    1. The author needs to decide if she wants a story set in the south or in the Midwest. There are several southern colloquialisms used throughout the story. The narrator even uses a southern accent sometimes.
    2. The author introduces a character admits that is easily disliked. Several people in the story have a real motive to kill her ( or strongly dislike her). Yet, the first suspect the police bring in is the only African American in town, who I might add has a very superficial motive. Really??!!! Considering the damage that has been done in real life, I was disappointed to see an author trivialize it in a book. I'm sure she was trying to create drama but it was unnecessary and insulting.
    3. I realize that cozy mysteries usually end on a happy note. However, there were some changes and some new developments in Robbie's relationship. Yet the reader can't tell, because, Robbie is all smiles by the end of the book as if there were no changes. This story felt disingenuous and I'm not sure if I will read the next one.
    4. The mystery was wasn't very developed. No one really had a strong motive for murder. The actions of the character that did the deed was unrealistic.
All in all the story was superficial and unrealistic.

    Loved this!
I highly recommend this book , its a wonderful read and great to knit or crochet to for those who are fiber artist. For those who are not I'd still get the whole series!
    Awful narration!
What did you like best about Murder at Lambswool Farm? What did you like least?
I wasn't able to listen to this book because the narrator was so bad.
What did you like best about this story?
I'm sure I would have liked the story, but I simply could not listen to this performance.
What didnt you like about Julie McKays performance?
Her attempt to create different voices for these characters
Was Murder at Lambswool Farm worth the listening time?
    No
    Any additional comments?
I have read all the other books in this series and was looking forward to this one. Unfortunately I will have to wait to get a copy from the library. I wasted money on this -and waited too long to return it for a refund.
    Great!
It was an amazing book and telling as always!!!!!! I can't wait until the next book!!!
    A little too cosy.
This was my first read of this author, probably the last, way too slow!
Lovely images created by the author
Although the writing is, at times, quite good, the story often drags. The reader has a soap opera approach that I found more annoying than helpful. I think he is attempting to heighten the drama. I did not appreciate it, since it mostly made the book go more slowly.

Sid can't wait to go through the haunted house - but he gets rattled for real when a genuine dead body is discovered. Trapped inside as the police quickly seal off the crime scene, Sid makes no bones about dropping the dog suit and posing as an actual skeleton. This murder is a skull scratcher, but as long as Sid is on the inside, he might as well case the joint to figure out who used the cover of darkness to commit the perfect crime....
    Members Reviews:
I have read all three books I just wish there was
More of them the skeleton was great loved him I hope this author gets around to writing mote
    Amazing
I'm still amazed at how entertaining this series is. I read all three books back to back and loved each one. The characters are engaging and likable. There were so many twists and turns in the plot that I did not guess the murderer. This is the best of the series and I can't wait for the next one to be released.
    Entertaining, Humerous and Relaxing
I read the first two books in this series and couldn't resist buying this one. This is a "fun" series, perfect listening for relaxation.
If you can accept the premise of a walking, talking friendly skeleton who lives with a University professor and her daughter, this might be just the book for you.
This is a "cozy". The pace is moderate. There is no explicit violence. It is an easy, but entertaining, read.
    WOW !!!!
Sid haunts a home was invigorating......I couldn't put it down till I was done. I can't wait till the next book. I really like that you knew who done it but they kept finding all these little off shoots. Close a door and 2 open up!!!!!!!
    THANKS FOR A GREAT LISTEN!!!!!
    can't wait for next adventure!
breath taking narration leading to gasps, tears, and whoops of joy. waiting for more. SOON?

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
The award-winning crime writer Ken Bruen is as joyously unapologetic in his writing as he is wickedly poetic. In the new Jack Taylor novel Green Hell, Bruen's dark angel of a protagonist has hit rock bottom: one of his best friends is dead, the other has stopped speaking to him; he has given up battling his addiction to alcohol and pills; and his firing from the Irish national police, the Garda, is ancient history.
But Jack isn't about to embark on a self-improvement plan. Instead, he has taken up a vigilante case against a respected professor of literature at the University of Galway who has a violent habit his friends in high places are only too happy to ignore. And when Jack rescues a preppy American student on a Rhodes Scholarship from a couple of kid thugs, he also unexpectedly gains a new sidekick, who abandons his thesis on Beckett to write a biography of Galway's most magnetic rogue.
Between pub crawls and violent outbursts, Jack's vengeful plot against the professor soon spirals toward chaos. Enter Emerald, an edgy young Goth who could either be the answer to Jack's problems, or the last ripped stitch in his undoing. Ireland may be known as a "green Eden", but in Jack Taylor's world, the national color has a decidedly lethal sheen.

A connection is made with a series of unsolved murders harking back to the 1970s, and Detective Inspector Nick Dixon finds himself caught in a race against time that takes him the length and breadth of the country.
The brutal killing of an elderly man raises the stakes and, as he closes in, Dixon begins to question whether he is chasing one serial killer or two.
Head in the Sand is the second novel in the highly acclaimed DI Nick Dixon Crime Series.

    Another great listen
Another great listen and good book by Damien Boyd. He keeps series light but intriguing and had enough twists to keep you from solving it too quickly. Looking forward to next book in series.
    Sometimes the Past Catches Up!
DI Dickson is at it again!
Following the trail of four beheadings, he steadfastly inspects the clues, asserts his authority and solves the question of who and why. Accompanied by a squad of helpers, the investigation is fast and thorough-bringing a misguided killer to justice. The human detritus of a single mistake has shock wave impact on the lives of those involved over three decades.
Listen as DI Dickson and his co-worker lover constable Jane, put the pieces together while exposing the shambles of a torn apart life.
    Excellent crime story
Head in the Sand is Book 2 in the 5 novel Detective Inspector Nick Dixon series. The story is an interesting one of multiple decapitated heads of people found in golf course sand traps with the bodies found elsewhere. The problem is finding a linkage among the victims beyond that all worked in the medical field.
Napoleon Ryan's narration takes some time to become accustomed to. It's not because he is British (I've lived in the UK and am very accustomed to the various British accents). Ryan does different voices well, but he does tend to over perform a bit.
I look forward to listening to the final three books in this series.
    One of the worst narrations
Ok, I've now read (actually listened to) the first two books in this series. I hope the narrator is a friend of the author otherwise a very poor choice was made as to who should read these books. I listen to hundreds of audiobooks each year and I feel sorry for authors whose works are ruined by a bad narrator. Damien Boyd is one of those authors.
On the other hand, narrators can only work with the words they're given. This series, at least so far, has no character development at all. We know little about Dixon or Jane. It's hard to develop a liking for characters with no depth. The only one I care about is the dog.
I read the second book only because I bought it before reading the first book. I don't plan on reading more.
    Over the top, bad narration.
I am returning this book. The narrator is bad. The main character (Dixon) talks in a bedroom voice so low it is sometimes hard to hear. The women characters are all breathy, like Marilyn Monroe. The other males are over the top caricatures.
The bad narration makes a slow, story even worse. I don't care to listen to see what happens.

    Members Reviews:
    Good story ... Bad narration
I enjoyed the story but not enjoy the narration. It lacked emotion and all characters sounded similar.
Voice of reader so low it's hard to understand.
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
i can't recommend this version of Angels Flight because the reader Peter Giles has such a low voice that he is hard to understand.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I couldn't actually listen to the recording because of the reader's voice. The low voice made me really uncomfortable, plus, in my car it became unintelligible.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Peter Giles?
    yes, definitely.
Another good book by Michael Conelly
The story line was weaker than those of Connelly's previous works. It was kind of slow in the beginning but picked up the pace toward the end.
    Action commercial voice
They've changed the guy who used to read these books. This audiobook sounds like it's read by the same guy who does voiceover in action movie commercials. It's quite dreadful to listen to....
    Fantastic read. Great twist
One of his best. Few twists at the end so that it's a story within a story. This is the pick of his books that I have read so far. Great read.

In Gray Retribution, the fourth book of the popular, action-packed Tom Gray series, suspense builds to an unforgettable ending.
    Members Reviews:
    Awesome!
The suspense hits its high point in Gray Retribution. There is also deep personal tragedy for Tom Gray. Author Alan McDermott packs a lot of action and suspense into a 7 hour novel.
This is Book 4 in the Tom Gray series. Each book has been better than the prior one. After Book 1 I assumed that Tom Gray would join MI5 and the novels would become espionage thrillers. I was wrong.
It is difficult to choose a series that compares to the Tom Gray series. The closest is probably Mark Dawson's John Milton series. There is a book in Lee Child's Jack Reacher series that reminds me of Gray Retribution. It is Jack Reacher #11 (Bad Luck and Trouble)..
Alan McDermott has taken a great thriller series concept and developed it to its maximum potential. James Langton does a wonderful job of narrating this British series. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Fantastic book enhanced by great narration
Another great story in the Tom Gray series, enhanced by fantastic narration! Each book has been a gripping adventure with unique and compelling action and great characters!
    Another good story
Once again the author has written a taut well plotted story centering on Tom Gray, his business, and his family. Lots of intrigue and good plot twists throughout. Enjoyable read and good storytelling. Narrator remains the same as the first book and does a great job switching between different characters' voices. Well done!
    Gray Retribution
Another great instalment of the Gray adventures. The character of Gray is more developed in this book but his uncompromising attitude and need for justice is unchanged. Another cant put it down adventure with gritty realism and cold hard facts.

    Members Reviews:
    Two In A Row
I've been waiting for four of the earlier Sharon McCone mysteries to become available. In the meantime the last two selections in the series have totally mediocre and eminently lame.
In this particular book Sharon's old friend Glenn Solomon has sent her a squirrely couple with a weird story; only maybe it isn't. Thus begins a long convoluted story that was kind of creative if not very realistic or entertaining. The "Night Searchers" are connected with McCone's case and a case that her husband Hy Ripinsky is working at the same time. There are several strange incidents that bring them all together for no apparent reasons. It seemed as if the author had several portions of books and decided to toss them all on her screen then write a few pages to tie them all together. The three stars are a gift to all the very good books that I've appreciated over the years.
    Not the good old Sharon
Storyline as unbelievable as usual but still keeps you going. The narrator is terrible. She made it so trivial and silly.
One of the best writers in this genre
    Any additional comments?
This is a great book and a great listen. I always enjoy learning more about Sharon McCone and what is going on with her relatives and friends. Marcia Muller shares this world that continues to build in my brain through the years. In the book, Night Searchers, there are very interesting concepts and lots of little twists and turns. I enjoyed it very much. Laura Hicks does a great job of capturing what I thought Sharon would sound like all along.
    Another GOOD one!
Would you listen to The Night Searchers again? Why?
No, because there is many more Marcia Muller books yet to be listen to!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Night Searchers?
    All
    Which scene was your favorite?
Of course near the end when it all comes together.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    No
    Any additional comments?
    Enjoy it!!
