Il passato di Lisbeth

Interpretazione un po' monotona ma storia eccitante e con retroscena interessanti sul passato di Lisbeth Salander. Nuove inchieste e un caso così intricato che ci vuole un pó di memoria per collegare i punti e seguire la storia. Consigliatissimo!

Feels like Jules Verne

With a classic like this one it all comes down to the narrator.

Tim Curry reads it as if Jules Verne is looking over his shoulder. His voice seems very appropriate to the book and its time period.

He is not particularly good at changing his tone for different characters and his female impersonations are far from flattering.

But in an odd way he seems to be perfect for a Jules Verne story.

Its absolutely worth getting.

SCIENCE IS MADE UP OF MISTAKES

You do have to take into account that this was written in 1864. I do have to wonder how many careers in science were started by the reading of this book. I found the enthusiasm and drive of the professor to be admirable. I love a story with passionate characters. There were times when the professor would lose sleep and work through the night and meals, he was so excited about what he was working.

Included in this story, besides a passionate professor, is an adventure to Iceland. We learn a lot about Iceland (skyr is even thicker than Greek Yogurt, my local grocery store provides it and I eat a quart a week.) Book has a lot of geology. Sure there are some silly scientific remarks, but they did not ruin the story. The book like usual is different from the movies. There is no Atlantis.

Classic style a truly unique tale

I wish all high school students had a chance to explore the wonders of a great tale of friendship,love and patriots.

I will tell fellow readers of this second book, I didn't know existed.

and I was glad to have done it

I had read "The Heart of Princess Osra" and "The Prisoner of Zenda" before reading this one, and I was glad to have done it, as it gave me the feel for Hope's style and characterization. One really needs to have read "The Prisoner of Zenda" first in order to get the background of this book.

It is a fun read, reminiscent of the Three Musketeers and other action loaded works with a romantic flair. All--in-all, a good read.

Loved Zenda. Let Down by Rupert. There is no honor in putting your friends at risk to preserve YOUR honor. That is Pride, one of the deadly sins, although the most respectable of the seven. I can see why Rupert of Hentzau does not get the same attention as Prisoner of Zenda.

Prisoner of Zenda's Well-Written Cousin!

A cousin of "The Prisoner of Zenda" and a delight! Style of the time - first person adventure, fun read, and exciting. Definitely worth a read along with Prisoner!

Miss Harriet - Este relato esta compuesto por elementos antagónicos. Cargado de colores y vida para las descripciones de los paisajes y personajes secundarios, se torna casi cruel a la hora de referirse a Harriet. Descrito con los ojos de un pintor se nos presenta a un personaje frío, gris, inglés, en contraposición al pintor Chenal quien desde el inicio del relato de su historia de amor es presentado como cándido, lleno de vida, alguien que disfruta de la vida.
