    Title: The Noticer Returns
Subtitle: Sometimes You Find Perspective, and Sometimes Perspective Finds You
    Author: Andy Andrews
    Narrator: Andy Andrews
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 32 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-01-13
    Publisher: Thomas Nelson Publishers
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 444 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Perspective is a powerful thing. Andy Andrews has spent the past five years doing a double take at every white-haired old man he sees, hoping to have just one more conversation with the person to whom he owes his life. Through a chance encounter at a local bookstore, Andy is reunited with the man who changed everything for him - Jones, also known as The Noticer.
As the story unfolds, Jones uses his unique talent of noticing little things that make a big difference. And these little things grant the people of Fairhope, Alabama, a life-changing gift - perspective. Along the way, families will be united, financial opportunities will be created, and readers will be left with powerfully simple solutions to the everyday problems we all face.
Through the lens of a parenting class at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama, Jones guides a seemingly random group to ask specific questions inspired by his curious advice that You cant believe everything you think. Those questions lead to answers for which people have been searching for centuries: How do we begin to change the culture in which we live? What is the key to creating a life of success and value? What if what we think is the endis only the beginning? What starts as a story of one persons everyday reality unfolds into the extraordinary principles available to anyone looking to create the life for which he or she is intended.

    Another Gem
Actually more like as box of gems. Excellent insights into ways to enhance your life.
Did not want this story to end!
    Any additional comments?
This book is a great sequel. I was very anxious to listen to it, and enjoyed it very much. Everyone can benefit from the perspective presented in this book. I will definitely be listening to it again!
    Get ready for a challenge!
I have been a fan of Andy Andrews and his writing for many years and read everything he writes. When I saw the announcement for this book, I immediately pre-ordered it.
Although I was in the middle of another book, I paused listening to it and downloaded this book. At first I was disappointed. The first two chapters appeared to take the book in no direction. But I knew in my heart that the first two chapters laid the foundation for the book. By the time I was half way into the book I knew it is a winner. It is filled with many life lessons, quotable statements, and more important valuable outlines and stories to learn from and teach.
This book is a hidden gem - it is one of those books which requires many listens and also reading in the physical form.
No doubt I will put this on my highly recommended list and will read it again and again.
    Learning to Notice
Would you consider the audio edition of The Noticer Returns to be better than the print version?
Excellent followup to Andy Andrews book The Noticer. Andy does an excellent job reading this book and captivating the audience and actually draws you in to being not only a listener and becoming a participant. Excellent message and story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jones who as always was at the right spot at the right time; with just the right words of wisdom for the character he encounters.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed the scene when Jones suddenly appears in the wheat field.
    Life changing!
A life changing sequel to a life changing story.

Title: To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 39 mins

    Publisher: christianaudio.com
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 173 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Using Paul's radical letter to the Philippians as his road map, Matt Chandler forsakes the trendy to invite listeners into authentic Christian maturity. The short book of Philippians is one of the most quoted in the Bible, yet Paul wrote it not for the popular sound bites, but to paint a picture of a mature Christian faith. While many give their lives to Jesus, few then go on to live a life of truly vibrant faith. In this disruptively inspiring audiobook, Chandler offers tangible ways to develop a faith of pursuing, chasing, knowing, and loving Jesus. Because if we clean up our lives but don't get Jesus, we've lost! So let the goal be Him. To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain - this is the message of the letter. Therefore, our lives should be lived to Him, through Him, for Him, with Him, about Him - everything should be about Jesus.

    Title: Nailed
Subtitle: Ten Christian Myths That Show Jesus Never Existed at All
    Author: David Fitzgerald
    Narrator: David Fitzgerald
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 4 hrs and 26 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-07-13
    Publisher: Dogma Debate, LLC
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 651 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Why would anyone think Jesus never existed? Isn't it perfectly reasonable to accept that he was a real first century figure? As it turns out: No.
Nailed sheds light on 10 beloved Christian myths, and, with evidence gathered from historians across the theological spectrum, shows how they point to a Jesus Christ created solely through allegorical alchemy of hope and imagination; a messiah transformed from a purely literary, theological construct into the familiar figure of Jesus - in short, a purely mythic Christ.
    Members Reviews:
Great primer for the Christ-Myth theory
A a novice on the CM theory, I found this book very accessible. He gets right to the point in layperson language. Definitely a good starting point. I have previously enjoyed books by Richard Carrier and Robert Price on the same topic but found much of the material sailing over my head without slow and careful reading and rereading.
Looking forward to his upcoming book "Jesus: Mything in Action" as well!
    great insight!
read several times. Each time I gained more insight. very logical, very informative takes a honest critical look into the historicity of biblical stories.
    Very compelling and evidence based.
David answered many of my dilemmas with Christianity and did it with referenced facts and organized into a coherent narrative.
A solid primer on New Testament scholarship
    3.5 stars
The title doesn't quite deliver on its promise. A more accurate title would have been: Reasons the Jesus of the Gospels Never Existed.
David Fitzgerald shows quite compellingly the events of the gospels couldn't have happened as written. First, many reliable historians wrote about events in Judea during the early 1st century, including some with a special interest in religious movements. They documented the existence of other faith healers and so-called Jewish messiahs, but none makes any mention of Jesus, who was supposedly famous and had throngs of people listening to his teachings and witnessing his miracles.
Second, the gospels as written have historical problems. The trial of Jesus could not have taken place as described, for it contradicts known Jewish legal practice. The Sea of Galilee does not exist. Mark alone made many mistakes about Judean geography and custom, which Matthew corrected in his gospel.
Fitzgerald also documents the surprising lack of biographical details about Jesus in the epistles of Paul, the earliest written sections of the New Testament. It's as if Paul were writing about a purely spiritual figure, not an historical one. Fitzgerald also notes the allegorical style of the Gospel of Mark, the earliest account of Jesus on which all the others are based. He shows the gospel writers weren't composing biographies or writing down eyewitness testimony. They each wrote for different audiences with different portrayals of Jesus.
The author presents enough material to make listeners at least consider the possibility that Jesus the man never existed. However, I don't think he constructs an open-and-shut case, as the title promises. The book actually works best as a primer on New Testament scholarship.

    Title: Defending Your Faith
    Author: R. C. Sproul
    Narrator: R. C. Sproul
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 12 hrs and 28 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 07-30-13
    Publisher: Ligonier Ministries
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 265 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Dr. Sproul surveys the history of apologetics and demonstrates that reason and science are your allies in defending the existence of God and the historical truth claims of Jesus Christ.
    Members Reviews:
Good, but a bit too theoretical than practical.
Listeners should note that this actually a series of lectures by Sproul recorded live in a lecture hall rather than an actual eBook. Still though it listens good. Sproul will put your mind thinking.
    Clear, concise and cogent
Would you listen to Defending Your Faith again? Why?
Yes. It has so many fruits that I'm sure I didn't get them all the first two or three times. I continued backing up my player to listen to some concept to make sure I had heard it correctly.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    N/A
Have you listened to any of R. C. Sprouls other performances before? How does this one compare?
Nope. First time. But I just ordered two of his books in hard copy and another one from audible.com. Outstandingly clear. You may not agree with him but it won't be because you don't understand what he says.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Awesome. First book on apologetics that I thoroughly understood.
    Any additional comments?
Interesting, especially with metaphors and anecdotes to emphasize points. Cogent, proceeds from the simple to the complex with each step thoroughly explained without being verbose.
    Solid defense
A lot of philosophy in the beginning but necessary to establish. R.C's Systematic Thrology series may be more suited to those looking for another apologoist resource
Intelligent defense for the christian faith
Would you consider the audio edition of Defending Your Faith to be better than the print version?
I always love hearing audio from the author because they covey their ideas and points of emphasis more clearly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Defending Your Faith?
What stands out to me the most is the author's complete destruction of the concept of self creation. I was fed that garage as a biology major in college and made to feel stupid for my faith in God.
What does R. C. Sproul bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The author pointed out how most people just accept any concept without question if a seemingly intelligent person presents the concept in a sincere and forceful way. He demonstrated from one of his own classroom experiences as a teacher by giving a false assertion that not only the students bought but a visiting professor didn't see through.
    Any additional comments?
This is a must read for all Christians and all non Christians because it clearly not only establishes the possibility of the existence of God but the absolute necessity of the existence of God. Then the book moves on to show that the bible is not only reliable and credible by Christian standards but also by secular standards.
The Presupposition Apologists View Is Lacking
As a reformed guy I've viewed myself as a presuppositionalist but it felt it was empty. I also think the evidentiallist view is flawed. RC Sproul gives undeniable proofs for the existence of God. He calls this the classical view of apologetics.
    I highly recommend this book!

    Amazing
this reading has touched my life in the most amazing ways. It is so encouraging and opened my eyes and heart to being radical obedient to God.
    Great Read!
This was a great story and easy to finish in one day! She brought a smile to my face and a few laughs along with stories I could relate to.
Saying "Yes" activates God's Kingdom .
As I started reading/listening to the stories, I was reminded of some memories I had experienced. Memories of missed opportunities because I wasn't focused on the impact of my action, not on the obedience of the action. If I had only been obedient, what a blessing that would have been to God. These stories reminded me of my humanness. Thank you for sharing. It's the little things that become much in the hands of the Father. He delights in His gifts to us. I love sharing what God gives to me. Prayerfully, I now understand how to discern what and when,
    Inspiring!
Just a brilliantly, heart felt book. Helped me see God better and more vivid in my life. I want to say yes to God more!
    Amazing
Being a woman recently surviving breast cancer and now called to preach the gospel I know how hard it is to really say yes to "God" and mean it. This book confirmed the calling on my life & cemented my commitment to "Radical Obedience". I will definitely travel beyond my mailbox Lysa, bless you.

    Title: Dangerous Calling
    Author: Paul David Tripp
    Narrator: Maurice England

Length: 8 hrs and 28 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 12-06-12
    Publisher: christianaudio.com

    Publisher's Summary:
After traveling the world for many years and speaking at hundreds of churches of all kinds, Paul David Tripp is concerned about the state of pastoral culture. He is not only concerned about the spiritual life of the pastor, but with the very people who train him, call him, relate to him, and restore him if necessary.
Dangerous Calling reveals the truth that the culture surrounding our pastors is spiritually unhealthy - an environment that actively undermines the wellbeing and efficacy of our church leaders and thus the entire church body. Here is a book that both diagnoses and offers cures for issues that impact every member and church leader, and gives solid strategies for fighting the war that rages not only in the momentous moments of ministry, but also in the mundane day-by-day life of every pastor.

    Heart Surgery
Where does Dangerous Calling rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
With regard to content, this book is in my top 5 favorite audiobooks.
What other book might you compare Dangerous Calling to and why?
Richard Baxter's "The Reformed Pastor". The reason why is that Baxter and Tripp both do you a great service in helping you do a thorough (and painful) self-examination.
What does Maurice England bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I think Maurice does a wonderful job reading the content. As I was listening, I found myself forgetting that I was being read to - a quality I appreciate. Get out of the way of the content. Great job, Maurice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not in particular, but in the whole, I was greatly refreshed and warned.
    Any additional comments?
This is a must-read/listen for anyone serving in ministry in any capacity. I hope to pass this book on to my sons when the time comes.

    Title: Future Grace
Subtitle: The Purifying Power of the Promises of God, Revised Edition
    Author: John Piper
    Narrator: Joe Ochman
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 15 hrs and 27 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-18-12
    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 118 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Explore this stunning quality of Gods grace: It never ends!
In this revision of a foundational work, John Piper reveals how grace is not only Gods undeserved gift to us in the past, but also Gods power to make good happen for us today, tomorrow, and forever.
True life for the follower of Jesus really is a moment-by-moment trust that God is dependable and fulfills his promises. This is living by faith in future grace, which provides God's mercy, provision, and wisdom - everything we need - to accomplish his good plans for us.
In Future Grace, chapter by chapter - one for each day of the month - Piper reveals how cherishing the promises of God helps break the power of persistent sin issues like anxiety, despondency, greed, lust, bitterness, impatience, pride, misplaced shame, and more.
Ultimate joy, peace, and hope in life and death are found in a confident, continual awareness of the reality of future grace.
    Critic Reviews:
"Pastor Piper's purpose in writing is to revitalize a decadent American Christianity that knows only cheap grace and cheap faith. Bible-soaked, God-intoxicated, deeply evangelical, and passionately humane, Piper fills the forgotten dimensions of faith - hope and contentment, stability and sanctity, prizing and praising God - with a master hand. This is a rich and wise book, one to treasure and reread." (J.I. Packer)
"In the long run, we're all dead. In the even longer run, we're raised from the dead. That's the power of Future Grace. It will rocket attention away from the narrow horizon we see in front of us toward the incandescent glory of new creation, gospel power. This book evaporates all the false dichotomies weighing down contemporary Christianity. You don't have to ping back and forth between the present and the future, the law of God or His grace, obedience or trust. Future Grace changed my life, and it can change yours." (Russell D. Moore, dean, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary)
"In Future Grace John Piper encourages believers to understand the present struggles of the Christian life in terms of the surpassing grace of God in Christ - a grace that calls us to exult in God's future work in us, even as we experience God's present grace and rest in the assurance of God's grace to us in the past. In this new edition, Piper serves the church by showing us a mind at work as he wrestles with some of the most crucial issues of the Christian life. This book is deeply biblical, passionately practical, and Christ-centered." (R. Albert Mohler Jr., president, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary)
    Members Reviews:
    Please fix the chapter divisions
This is an EXCELLENT book & well narrated. The reason for only giving it 2 stars is because the Audible chapter divisions do not match the book's chapters and this causes problems because one of the authors suggestions is to go through a chapter each day of the month. The way the Audible file is set up, it is very difficult to find the beginning of any particular book chapter.
    Life Changing!
John Piper's teachings in this book satisfied so many nagging questions I have struggled with for years while studying the Bible. Seeing God through the eyes of future grace and seeking to be satisfied in Him was a life changing concept for me.

We describe an actress as gracious, a dancer as graceful. We use the word for hospitals, baby girls, kings, and pre-meal prayers. We talk as though we know what grace means.
But do we really understand it? Have we settled for wimpy grace? It politely occupies a phrase in a hymn, fits nicely on a church sign. Never causes trouble or demands a response. When asked, "Do you believe in grace?" who could say no?
Max Lucado asks a deeper question: Have you been changed by grace? Shaped by grace? Strengthened by grace? Emboldened by grace? Softened by grace? Snatched by the nape of your neck and shaken to your senses by grace? God's grace has a drenching about it. A wildness about it. A white-water, riptide, turn-you-upside-downness about it. Grace comes after you. It rewires you. From insecure to God secure. From regret riddled to better-because-of-it. From afraid to die to ready to fly. Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off. Let's make certain grace gets you.

    If I lived in Texas.....
If you are a Christian, and have never heard of this pastor-author from Texas, you're in for a treat! Why not start with this small book? I've read many of Max's books since I became a Christian over 30 years ago. Max Lucado has a God-given gift for communicating the Truths of the Word in a way that even a child understands. He has a way of taking the stories in Scripture and creating his own parallel story in a contemporary manner. In this book, for example, one of the stories is that of the old testament book of Ruth. He explains the background of the story and the plight of Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi. Then he explains how we are like Ruth, and how Jesus saves us as Boaz, Ruth's kinsman/redeemer, saved her.
I believe that his writing crosses denominational lines. Enjoy!
    Concise, poetic, powerfully informative motivating
Written as only Max Lacado can, GRACE is a powerful, concise overview of the Biblical doctrine of God's grace in our lives. Lacado has the gift of making the complex understandable and reachable. The book is great for anyone, but perfect for those struggling with either their view of a "mean God" or of how they feel God views them.
