    Another exciting Argonauts book!
Quantum Predation is the 4th book in the Argonauts series by Isaac Hooke, and like the other books in the series, I really enjoyed it. In this book Rade and his crew have been through a bit of a lull in their Phant hunt with Surus, and decide to take on another client during some down time. That client takes them out to a colony on the edge of known space who has lost communications.
Once they get there, they are in for more than they bargained for, first with the local authorities, and then with an alien invasion no one saw coming. I enjoyed all of the action and the storyline in this book. You see a lot of what you see in the other books, with the crew fighting through new and well thought our situations. As with most of Hookeâs books, I canât say too much else without giving anything away. Radeâs character continues to develop, dealing with both getting older and continuing the burdens of both command and running the business.
Overall, another great book, I highly recommend it. And I really enjoyed the twist at the very end which I didnât see coming at all.
    Best Argonauts, yet
I must say that Quantum Predation is the best of the Argonauts series, so far. The characters have developed some real depth and the situations in which Rade and his band of "security consultants" find themselves are inventive and difficult for the reader to break away from. There's lots of room for continued plot development, but the character interaction is becoming, to me, one of the more engaging aspects of Hooke's work. While this is another standalone work, it would probably help to have read the first three books in this series, as well. Regardless, I highly recommend this and think you will enjoy it. One caveat, I suggest you start it at a time where you will have some uninterrupted opportunity to read. It definitely pulled me through and, while I had to read it in a series of installments, I kept itching to get back to it to find out what happens next.
Fast and full of action and all out mayhem
A page turning, romping, Sci-Fi that I did not want to put down. This is one you wont want to miss out on.
While it is not necessary to start with the first books in the series, it will provide background and explain the abilities and interplay between the characters. But whether you start at book 1 or just start with this one, you will enjoy your time in this world that Hooke has created.
    Best in the series yet
Fast paced action where the Argonauts are fighting for their lives against Alien spider-like beings.
A routine mission whilst cruising on down time from hunting Phants turns into an investigation as to why a colony is not responding. The team find a Phant in the system and are soon attacked by the alien spiders. Cue all out mayhem and "bug stomping".
(Bugs partying-shadow in background) Oh no!!! Its Rade!
Here it is one or two days after your birfday and I have already finished the stinkin book.

pretty disappointed, couldn't seem to get into it.
first off let me say that I love the author's writing. I would say his Phantom server series is among one of my very favorites!! this book just kind of hops all over the place you're not so much following one character. it almost feels like watching a documentary. and to call it a lit RPG is almost offensive because it was extremely anti lit RPG.
    Moo review
Ok you must push past the start of the book.. the first part I felt was very dull and I nearly gave up..: I pushed on and fell in love with this book I'm now looking forward to the second book and I am interested in the technology spoken about in this book .. it's a nerds dream worth a read if you love space or Technology... not as big litrpg as other books but I feel like this is a set up book for a huge series that I could really get into

    Classic Hard Science Fiction
I love the writings of Dr. Forward. There is nothing like science fiction written by an actual physicist. I am hoping it will not take Audible long to release the second and third Cheela books as Audible titles. It has been decades since I read these books with my eyes, and now I am loving to re-read this one with my ears. :)
read this when it was cirst published
what a great way to enjoy this story again.
the concept is a great stepping stone
    Great story
The audio was a little quiet. But the story was amazing! The story is easy to follow, even if you don't know the science. I can't wait for starquake (the sequal) to be an audiobook too.
    Okay Story., but meh...
For some reason I just could not suspend my disbelief and get into this book. Perhaps I'm just being too nerdy and concentrating on the impossibilities.

    Fragments
Book 22 is an anthology with really good, overall, great stories that delve deeper into and support previous events. This being at book 22 however, still has the drawbacks of fractured story arcs, they take place at different times of the Heresy novels, novellas and audio dramas. It is worth a read. I'm reviewing this after reading it a second time, and with other stories continuing past this, it made more sense.
'The Crimson Fist.' I'm not familiar with the Crimson Fist chapter, this may be an origin story, but I'm not sure. It was really well written, the time frame is when Dorn finds out about the treachery and sends thousands of his troops to Istvaan III to capture Horus and the traitors. Great story about Alexis Polux, with background and character building for Dorn, Sigismund and Perturabo. Written by John French, the author of Ahriman's books, so if you're a fan, pick this up.
'The Dark King.' Great story by Graham McKneil, who is usually hit or miss for me. Great background building for Konrad Curze with Dorn in in there as well; this takes place before Istvaan events (so this can pretty much go before Book 1 of the series); if you want to read what happened to Nostramu, pick this one up.
'The Lightening Tower.' Written by Dan Abnett, this story is also about Dorn. We see Dorn's reluctance, but duty to destroy and rebuild the palace into a fortress. This is a follow up to some memories from the previous short story, 'The Dark King.'
'The Kaban Project.' Another story by Graham McNeil, this is pre-uprising of Mars. My biggest complaint about this is the follow up for the Kaban Project as the series continued, I don't remember reading anywhere else about it.
'Raven's Fight.' One of the best Gav Thorpe stories for me. Corvus Corax plays center stage here, this takes place during the betrayal at Istvaan V and would make a great read before the Black Library exclusive novella 'Corax: Soulforge,' and 'Raven Lord,' then follow that up with the novel, 'Delivrence Lost.' Yeah, gets tricky, but if you enjoy reading about the Raven Guard and Corax himself, check them all out.
'Death of a Silversmith.' Really fun, interesting story which can be read before Book 1 in the series. Not much background story support was added, but it appears this shows the leading up to legion Remembrancers and Luna Wolves lodges. Another story by Graham McKneil, I pretty much dislike the lodge and Remembrancer story arcs but thought this fit in perfectly.
'Prince of Crows.' Night Lords and Aaron Dembski Bowden fans won't want to miss this one; more background building for Sevetar and Curze. Events for this short story are right after the one on one fight between Curze and Lion El'Jonson, post Istvaan V.

    Love Gav
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
It was good, but Lorgars origin didnt impress.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Lorgars home world sucks. Its sort of a dune rip, sand critters and all. Wild religions. I just wanted Lorgar to be from a more complex society.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Did Lorgar: Bearer of the Word inspire you to do anything?
ThwHoris Heresy Books are abusing fans. From the Istvan massacre to book 46... 46? Who the hell writes a 6 book series? Im a wh40k fan, but this book inspired me to edit for fans, not for profit.
    More about Kor Phaeron
This is a solid book, very reminiscent of Biblical stories (as you might expect from the Word Bearers), especially Moses, and a little bit of David (of David v Goliath, fame).
The story revolves around Kor Phaeron as much as it does about Lorgar; how he found him and treated him as a child, and ow that plays on his mind as Lorgar is older and leading his legion.
Dont expect too much action, as its about the developing faith and relationship of Lorgar and Kor, and the power dynamic between a Demi God and a demagogue.
Jonathan Keeble is on form as always!
Like a good 'making of' documentary
Lorgar is definitely one of the more interesting of the Traitor Nine and has been blessed with some excellent writing in the course of the series. An erudite and scholarly man who in another lifetime would have remained a priest who ultimately engineers far more insanity than any of the other fallen Primarchs.
It helps a lot to have read about the events of Monarchia in 'The First Heretic' to place Lorgar in the context of this novella. That said, there are no real revelations in this book and nothing to advance the story of the Heresy
What you get then is a very good history of Lorgar's early life with Kor Phaeron and a good understanding of Colchis. As a character I find Lorgar fascinating and this book is ideal for me - atmospheric, slow-paced and full of detail, it really helps to understand the mind of Lorgar and determine if he was always going to fall to the Ruinous Powers or he had a choice. Not essential reading by any means but a most worthwhile one.

    Members Reviews:
Excellent sequel to a great story
What did you love best about Nebula Risen?
Everything. I was really impressed overall with the story that Jake Bible has crafted anmd the world in which it takes place.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The AI on board the ship and Roak. The banter and relationship they develop were the stuff of great Sci-Fi.
Which character as performed by Andrew B. Wehrlen was your favorite?
Roak. Mr. Wehrlen did an excellent job of portraying the character and all his flaws. The facade of emotionless bounty hunter but clear that there is a lot more going on under the surface.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed a lot. The character interactions were great. The action was well choreographed and fast paced. It drew me in and left me wanting more.
    Any additional comments?
I was given a free copy of this audio book and have voluntarily left a review.
Roak, Would that we all could be so...Cool!
Jake Bible is as prolific as he is imaginative. I can't wait for his next offering and the scary thing is that I know that I will not have long to wait. Nebula Risen has it all, action adventure and the nagging suspicion that the protagonist is may be not just human. Add an A I driven space ship and galactic skullduggery and you end up with a very satisfying listen. Andrew B. Wehrlen was the perfect choice for this books narration with his spot on characterizations and clear gender delineations, I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
    Roak!!
awsome series well worth it and the narration is spot on you can imagine the characters and the world they live in.
    Plenty of humor and action
Bounty hunter Roak is forcefully hired to locate and bring Johnny Nebula, one of the greatest heavy-grav fighter, who died during a fight. During his search, Roak will meet an old friend, who will just increase Roaks worries.
I really enjoyed Roaks cheeky personality and his conversations with Hessa the special and quirky AI in Roaks spaceship. I always appreciate when there is good humor in books, and there are quite some funny moments in this one. There is also plenty of action to keep the reader entertained.
This could have been a 5 star book, but I was not completely invested in Roaks search. I did not feel the urgency of it. I was much more intrigued about Roaks friend, and the end twist was just superb. Roaks mission felt kind of an excuse to show us the truth about himself.
From the beginning of the book I had the feeling that the story would have worked better if written in first person.
