    Title: A Window into Time
    Author: Peter F. Hamilton

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-23-16
    Publisher: Tantor Audio

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Whip-smart 13-year-old Julian Costello Proctor - better known as Jules - has an eidetic memory. For as long as he can remember, he has remembered everything. "My mind is always on," he explains. But when an unexpected death throws his life into turmoil, Jules begins to experience something strange. For the first time, there are holes in his memory.
But that's not the strangest part. What's really weird isn't what he's forgotten; it's what he remembers. Memories of another life, not his own. And not from some distant past. No, these memories belong to a man who's alive right now.
With bravery, ingenuity, and quirky good humor, Jules devises a theory to explain this baffling phenomenon. While tracking down the identity of his mysterious doppelgänger, he finds himself enmeshed in the hopes and dreams of a stranger and caught in the coils of a madman's deadly plot.

    Charming, lovely, engaging!
Lovely short recording. Had I known how short it was I doubt I would have purchased it, so I'm glad I didn't check to see the novel's duration. The narrator was perfect and enhanced the story (which is ideal, right? since that's their entire purpose). I love time paradox so that added to my enjoyment of the story. The 13 year old narrator is endearing and characters are kept to a minimum so those of you who are sometimes confused with numerous characters and/or story lines won't have that issue here. I'll keep my review brief by saying the story is just as my headline says, charming, lovely, engaging.
A very Different Story From Peter F. Hamilton
Where does A Window into Time rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Very high a really interesting read
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Julian ~ Read the book
What about Chris MacDonnells performance did you like?
It sounds like the characters are real
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
You never know where life will lead you.
    Slow, overly detailed, carefully crafted
Seemed to nowhere for such a long time. Bright, innovative ending. Might have been better at half the length.
Memory is not always a good thing
Peter F Hamilton's A Window into Time is a short story about a young boy with an amazing memory. Regarded as a bit odd by his schoolmates, he also experiences the accidental death of his mother forcing him to live with his father who has since remarried. Into this somewhat typical youthful situation comes the occurrence of his experiencing what appears to be someone else's memories. At first, the memories are from the past, but gradually, he comes to realize that that they may also foretell future events. In true millenial detective fashion, he hunts for the mystery owner of these memories.
While not technically science fiction, as the tale can be viewed more as fantasy, the concept of time travel, at least in the sense of information flow cannot be dismissed. Ultimately, this is a coming of age tale about a young man with a very unique talent who nevertheless must still learn, adapt, and overcome his own ignorance as well as adult intervention for his own good.
The narration is quite well done given that the bulk of the tale is from the perspective of a teenage boy. Given the short length, pacing is respectable.

An incredible and absorbing book and series
This is by far the best series I have ever heard and my hat goes off to Raymond Weil for creating it and Liam Owen for Narrating it. Now I don't know how to write in depth reviews like others but this series has had the same impact on me as the original Star Wars Trilogy did. I am currently beyond the top level 'Master' on Audible and military space scifi is all I read. I have put the hours in with other authors but never have I come across a series as imaginative and totally absorbing as this. I hope that this series just continues on and on and if it is to come to an end then perhaps an idea for a spinoff series could be the rise and rise of the Originators and there reasons for building such powerful weapons...
    Till the next one.
    Myles
    Poor performance
the cadence of the narrator was too fast and not enough differentiation in the characters or vs the narration.
    Very boring
Presentation, story, everything, just made this very hard to even try to listen to. I will request a refund on this one.
    waste of a credit.
Boring story, drab narration, and overall just a bad listen for me. I did not even finish it, I could not get through it.
    Narrative?
Due to story line and or narrator this book was difficult for me to follow. Unable to get into the story.

I hate Zombies. So this book was great.
As I said I hate Zombies. The combination of the humor in all that zombie horror and things going right and wrong for the main character and the great narration by Michael Kramer it's a hit. Love both books and am ready for book number three.
Good but too much penis talk.
The author talks about his penis way, way too much. When you read that, imagine a number of times you imagine as too many. Double that. Then double that number.
But once you get over rolling your eyes every time you hear a mention of the characters junk, there is actually some pretty good main character development and the book does avoid a lot of the cliches associated with zombie books (I didn't know this was a zombie book when I got it, had I known I might have passed). The supporting characters are stale, but initially interesting. The plot does keep moving and the main character is never some super well prepared individual, which is refreshing. The author didn't live out some tired fantasy of being the only guy who is prepared and ready for the zombie apocalypse.
The voice acting is superb and that is what kept me listening. Michael Kramer brought a 1940s radio play attitude to the narration and no matter what other flaws the book may have, he makes up for them.
    Not a happy camper.
I have to admit I was very excited to start this story, and honestly time flew by. However before I knew it was over. No ending if I want to see what happens. You have to buy the next book. I feel the story line was great and was drawn into the story very fast and moved very fast. The the end of the book. It was like tune in next week for the conclusion. Authors who do this does not care about the readers only their own pocket book. I will not not buy any others, from this author. Will never know will the book end or will people have to buy a 3 for a ending.
No surprises but entertaining zombie series.
Would you consider the audio edition of Chaos Theory to be better than the print version?
I don't know, I didn't read the print version. But I am a big Zombie/post apocalyptic/EOTWAWKI fan and this one came up on my Audible recommend feed.
What did you like best about this story?
I love supense/gore/scary monsters interspersed with humor. I liked the lead characters slightly sarcastic sense of humor and obvious observations. Made the story more entertaining for me personally.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I am writing this review for both book 1 Chaos Theory and book 2 Conspiracy Theory.
I liked both equally, and am hopeful that book 3, which I know exists will also make it to audio. I don't know that I had a favorite scene, but I particularly enjoyed any scene's with Lynch, Shipp or Remo.

    Title: Ambition
Subtitle: Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Vol. 2
Author: Yoshiki Tanaka, Daniel Huddleston - translator
    Narrator: Tim Gerard Reynolds
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 54 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 136 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
In the 36th century, humanity has conquered the galaxy and colonized countless star systems. The Galactic Empire, modeled along Prussian lines, and the democratic Free Planets Alliance are at war, and the fate of every human being in the universe hangs in the balance.
This classic Japanese space opera, adapted into a legendary anime, is finally available in English for the first time.
After a coup d'etat erupts in the Free Planets Alliance, military strategist Yang Wen-li is ordered to use his tactical wizardry to put down the rebellion, but the ringleader holding the capital is someone he once trusted deeply. Meanwhile, in the Empire, Reinhard will soon face a new trial, as in the wake of the emperor's death he stands amid an intensifying power struggle among the aristocracy. The unbeatable magician and the unstoppable genius: The decisions these heroes make will send shock waves across the galaxy.
    Members Reviews:
An incredibly slow pace with great narration.
As a the second audiobook of the "Legend of Galactic Heroes" series, "Ambition" is a title that is the perfect one word summary for it's content. There are some story arcs worth a listen here as the main characters Yang and Reinhard continue their roles as tacticians for opposing factions while struggling with far more poisonous politicalopponents on their own sides. This maneuvering around the traps of political corruption is actually the dominant focus of this story. There are still tactics and space warfare, but instead of focusing on the main characters' unlikely careers, the story now focuses on their surviving their own respective governments.
While Tim Gerard Reynolds still continues a fantastic performance as the audiobook 's narrator, the slower pacing of this audiobook's plot is hard to ignore. There are more ruminations about human psychological and philosophical flaws that widen and water down development of the events within this story than in the first book. This ends up requiring more patience from it's listeners than the first volume of this audiobook series which was already at a pace set to "slow, but pleasantly steady".
This audiobook is recommended to extremely patient listeners who enjoy overblown political drama more than most. The story is translated from Japanese so there are some different writing choices here and the villains are more obvious in their motives than in most political drama scenarioes, but this in combination of the narrator's skill makes the audio experience stand out in tone dispite it's crawling pace.
Enthralling battle of minds and might
Would you listen to Ambition again? Why?
While I loved Dawn, Ambition hooked me immediately and never let me down. Every action made either ends in success or tragedy, and the amount sheet chaos in the second half of the book was a joy to listen to.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ambition?
Spoiling as little as possible, the melee combat bit within the fortress corridor made it clear that this book series should see the light of Hollywood!
What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I think he does a very good job bringing out the cold calculation that is the heart of this book.

    Members Reviews:
I hope this is book one of many
If you could sum up Stryker in three words, what would they be?
    Riveting, entertaining, suspenseful
Who was your favorite character and why?
All of them and I don't give away plots in reviews so you have to trust me on this
Which character as performed by Kevin Pierce was your favorite?
Kevin is a great narrator, I've listened to him on other books and enjoy his performances immensely
    Any additional comments?
New and different twist on everything gone bad and only getting worse. Well written and performed, only regret? I wish it was longer......
    Excellent narration, book was lacking
Would you try another book from Bobby Andrews and/or Kevin Pierce?
Definitely Kevin Pierce, he has proven to be an excellent and consistent narrator.
Bobby Andrews? Not too sure. I have never read anything by Andrews before and, although the book held some promise and portions of it were interesting, it was lacking in substance. If this is the first book in a series, which I suspect it is based on the ending, I might read/listen to book 2 to see if it gets better.
What could Bobby Andrews have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
It needed a lot more development. Characters were shallow and relationships between them had little to no chemistry. That alone is hard enough to handle but probably the worst part for me was how little motivation or emotion surrounded every interaction or event in the book. I don't know how to describe it other than a sense that the author had no real direction or intention in the plot until he got there. The primary protagonist is a typical former-military, post apocalyptic stoic and the rest of the book was written...well...just like him.
It was like a great first draft or flushing out of a story without any real meat on the bones; this same, exact story line could have been twice the length with identical milestones but with much more content. I suspect that, based on the fact that Andrews is obviously an otherwise talented novelist, these "fixes" would have made this book a 4 or 5 star listen for me.
Was Stryker worth the listening time?
This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review. I may not have otherwise listened to it because I tend to look for longer books when spending my hard-earned, Audible credits.

I need the rest of the series to be out soon!
If youre a big Zombie fan I think youre going to like this series and this story as a whole. Its FULL of zombie action and great writing which really connects you and makes you feel like youre part of the action, so it might be best not to eat on a full stomach. The characters continue their story, along with a few new additions, and no one is safe (except Christian because hes writing the story) and the body count, both dead and undead, piles up fast.
I really wanted to rate this higher, but there was one big issue I had. I like where the overall story is going but for most of this book I kept asking myself where is THIS BOOK going? For long stretches I felt like the book was just a story of a group of survivors and we would never find out how Christian ended up on the roof (we still dont know) which frustrated me quite a bit. However, the final 20% of the book really wrapped up the current action nicely and set the stage for going forward and really got me interested to read the next in the series so take my rating with a grain of salt as cliffhangers/continuances are one of my pet peves. Hopefully we wont have to wait too long for the next one!
Mr. Story does a good job with narration making the characters really come alive.
Quit browsing and just get it!
but don't get it until you get volume one! Seriously, it's a good read and well performed. I've already listened to it twice. have fun!
The story gets better and better.
This second book in the series is skillfully written to continue the saga of Christian Hunt. The character development is skillful and with the twists and turns the book is impossible to put down.
Keep up the good work J.D.
almost quit when I thought Boomer was going to be
glad he wasn't. Never kill the dog. enjoyable story so far, looking forward to the next installment.
When is the next book coming out?
That's pretty much all I can say. The first book was good, the second book was seven better. More twists and turns and now I can't wait for the 3rd book in the series. Hurry please!

    a good mistake
Ok I will come clean Im an big fat idiot! I brought this title by mistake. Dont ask me how because I just dont know how. I certainly dont have any money to burn I am so poor that the ducks throw bread at me.
So with the confession of me being dumb and broke out of the way. I was thinking about going through the process of returning this title. I mean who would start listening to a series at Volume 3?
I thought I would just sample it before I made up my mind. Im glad I didnt return it, because as I sampled the story, I soon discovered it was good enough to stand on its own merit.
Like I said this was the first I have heard of the series and I was generally intrigued by the story. It isnt a normal zombie story. In fact the zombies are more monsters like in the fashion from Torment by Jeremy Bishop. Which was one of my first ever reviews I loved that one as well!
I do have to get one gripe of my chest the narration it is just too slow! I easily listened to this one at 1.5x speed. I do normally listen to most titles at 1.25x speed but even at 1.5x speed on several occasions I wished I had a 1.75x option. In my view if a person has to increase the narration beyond 1.25x speed, then the customer is being ripped off in the adverts price of the title. 1.5x is just too much, it deceases the listening time dramatically! This in turn alters the $per listening hour ratio that people like me take into consideration.
I guess the best way to determine what I really thought about this title is for me to answer the question; am I going to buy the 2 previous books in the series? The answer is no. I dont think I need to.
But, and it is a big BUT (much like my own but) am I going to purchase the next in the series? And my answer would be yes.
I did like this one and I suspect those who are not as dumb as me. Those smarter people who actually started the series at number one would also be keen to see this series through to the end.
This fatman is giving this one a single handed fonzie thumbs up and a hey. Not a two handed thumbs up and a heeeeeeeeeeey mind you. But you never know, maybe the next in the series.
    Spoils of War
Story continues very quickly and I love it. Ends with everyone's world turned upside down. Ship is under attack - captain is away and daughters are being saved by a crewman. Government of course is being as shady trying to blame anyone else and will stop at nothing to prove it.

    Awesome
Awesome series, can't wait for the next to come out. Book has some slow moments, but well worth the wait.
    Sick
I didn't get very far into this story when I had to turn it off. While I love zombie stories there are just some things that should be off limits. When you hear someone describe the rape of an eleven year old girl it's just sick. I couldn't get my headphones off fast enough. I'm thankful I was using them since my own twelve year old was next to me at the time. I honestly don't know how far he went with his description, I don't care. It made me want to vomit. I bought the first two books and audibles in this series and I'll be deleting them from my device. I likely would have bought the whole series had it not gone that direction. So disappointing. Some lines just shouldn't be crossed.
    great addition to the story
very interested to see where it goes. looking forward to next book. narrator is slot on, enjoy listening to him.
all the books while short, are well worth the credits.
    Overall Great Read
I love this Authors work so far however I felt the ending of this one was very gimmicky...to me it said I'm more concerned with making more money off of you by forcing you to read my next book to find out what should of been in this book. I like the authors style and everything I've read thus far but it seems more and more that he is taking one book and making it into two so he can make more money.
    Can put it down
Great wonderful story well written and keep your interest from the beginning to the end

KILLER CLOWNS and A BAG OF DICKS
THE GUN CALLED TO BE USED
The crazies in this book are a great idea. I like them better than Zombies. I so wish these three guys would have done more with them. This instead is a Military clichéd book. If you like military talk and action, this is full of it. For those who like unique monsters, this could have been so good, but fell short, as the three amigos decided to make it mostly a military book.
ONCE YOU DIED YOU STAYED DEAD.
Bray ain't dead, he brings life to all he reads.
    a military action filled nightmare
As soon as I heard about this audiobook, I literally stopped everything went to Audible and bought it. I have listened to stories from all three authors, Craig DiLouie, Stephen Knight and Joe McKinney, before and knew that this was going to be good. Then mix in one R. C. Bray to the mix and you would think you would have an audiobook powerhouse of a story.
A pandemic virus has spread to the United States turning people into creatures. No not zombies, but kind of the same idea. As the disease is spread by body fluids. The diseased are called Klowns because they laugh hysterically when they are inflicting pain on others or experiencing pain themselves. They are not mindless by any means and live to turn you into one of them.
Interestingly the story stars after the initial infection and society has already started to crumble. I am going to assume so that will leave plenty of material for flashbacks and characters remembering thing from the start of the outbreak.
From the beginning we are dropped into a small military unit in Boston. As they try to defend the city from the Klowns. This is where you can tell that the team of authors are experienced and really good at what they do. Because of the characters. Not cookie cutter, black and white, transparent or shallow at all. They are quite dynamic in the sense that their personality continue to change throughout the story. DiLouie, Knight and McKinney were able to pump so much emotion into each and every one of them I could smell the fear they were experiencing.
Pandemic is a military action filled nightmare. With some of the scariest infected that I have come across. I just felt that the story didn't really go anywhere other than to set the story in motion for the rest of the series. It did, however, make me interested, and kept my interest, enough to be on the look out for the next in the series.
R.C. Bray was the narrator. Really I could just stop there. Bray is a narration master.
