    Publisher's Summary:
In a world beset by amassing forces of darkness, one organization - the Regional Office - and its coterie of superpowered female assassins protects the globe from annihilation. At its helm, the mysterious Oyemi and her oracles seek out new recruits and root out evil plots. Then a prophecy suggests that someone from inside might bring about its downfall. And now the Regional Office is under attack.
Recruited by a defector from within, Rose is a young assassin leading the attack, eager to stretch into her powers and prove herself on her first mission. Defending the Regional Office is Sarah, who may or may not have a mechanical arm and is fiercely devoted to the organization that took her in as a young woman in the wake of her mother's sudden disappearance. On the day that the Regional Office is attacked, Rose's and Sarah's stories will overlap, their lives will collide, and the world as they know it just might end.
Weaving in a brilliantly conceived mythology, fantastical magical powers, teenage crushes, and kinetic fight scenes, The Regional Office Is Under Attack! is a seismically entertaining debut novel about revenge and allegiance and love.

All over the place. Nearly incoherent.
It's hard to even describe. Between the time jumps and back and forth character slips this story was hard to finish. as a fan of the genre I was amazed at how much this focused on mundane and nearly irrelevant parts of the characters (major and minor) and broad stroked the important or at least interesting parts of what could have been a solid story. I've never forced myself to finish an audible before but I have now.
    Awesome!
    I haven't finished a book in 2 day in a long time.
The Author does a great job of pulling you in with a unique style of story telling. I don't want to give anything away, other than I was very entertained. This is a rock solid first novel from Gonzales and IMO it's a must read. Congratulation Mr. Gonzales, I look forward to your next release.
    Tim.
    Natasha Soudek Nailed It!!
What did you like best about this story?
This was better than his "Miniature Wife" stories.
Great story, solid pacing, EXCELLENT new narrator Natasha Soudek on the scene!
Have you listened to any of the narratorss other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I considered getting the ebook, but am so glad I got the audiobook because I found Natasha Soudek (who reads the From the regional office chapters). I'm now going to hunt down everything else she has done is Sci-Fi. Mike Chamberlain is also great as always.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I listen to Sci-Fi, I don't cry. Except when zombies or aliens attack babies. :)
I was great, and then it just ended...
It was excellent and then it stopped, as if the Final Chapter was excluded.

Excellent voice quality to match fantastic story
This being my first Audible audiobook, I was excited to hear the story in a voice outside of my own. The voice quality was superb in tone and inflection, helping bring Cole's written word to life. The Red King is an imaginative tale and the audiobook version resonated. I loved listening so much that I did so twice. I used credit to get this Audible selection for free/discounted and it was worth it. Having the story read aloud allowed me to relax and let my mind engage with the imagery, character and plot development.
    Good start to a series
If you could sum up The Red King in three words, what would they be?
Zombie apocalypse mystery. There's something strange behind the appearance of zombies, but this book only hints at it. Two of the point of view characters are deeply involved in it--one on the side of whoever is behind the infection and one who is trying to get to the bottom of it. At least, that's the idea I got. The rest of the point of view characters are simply trying to survive, to find safety and build a new life in the ruins of the old. But those hints of something human-controlled behind the horror adds an extra dimension to the story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Holiday. Flawed and immature though he is in the beginning, he changes more during the story than any other. He represents all of us, the every-man caught up in events far beyond his understanding. His struggles both to survive and to overcome his weaknesses makes for a compelling story.
Have you listened to any of Guy Williamss other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have never listened to anything else Guy Williams has performed, but he does an excellent job with The Red King. I've been an Audible member since 2001, so have heard more than my share of narrators. Guy Williams handles everything extremely well. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with his performance.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, but I don't want to include spoilers in this review. Let's just say it involved Holiday.
    Any additional comments?
I'm not a particularly big fan of zombie novels but found The Red King an entertaining ride. I highly recommend it for fans of zombie novels and of post apocalyptic stories.
    Really good
I really enjoyed this. Not your usual run of the mill zombie fiction. Gripping, well-written, and suspenseful. Reminded me of vintage Stephen King.
    Just amazing
I've never really listened to an Audible book before. After listening to this one, I am hooked. The story is just excellent, and so compelling. The narration has full distinct character voices and so much tone and inflection. Buy this book.

    Title: Hell Hath No Fury
    Subtitle: Multiverse, Book 2

    Narrator: Mark Boyett
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 18 hrs and 59 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 200 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
It began with two men. They came from very different worlds - entirely different universes, in fact - and they met in a virgin forest on a duplicate planet Earth. Neither of them had expected it, but both of them realized how important the first contact with any other transuniversal human civilization might be.
But something went wrong. Neither side knows who shot first. But both the magic-using civilization of Arcana and steel-and-steam age Sharona, with its psionic Talents, think it was the other side. And it doesn't really matter now, because the original incident has snowballed.
Both sides have additional dead to mourn; both sides have additional wrongs to avenge. Both sides have additional military forces moving toward the front. War between the universes is the last thing responsible leaders on either side want. But the fury of their respective populations, xenophobic fear of the unknown, and cries for justice (or vengeance) are all driving both sides toward the brink. The actions of local military commanders and diplomats may well determine the final outcome, and unscrupulous, power-hungry men - and Arcana and Sharona alike - have agendas of their own.
The fuse has been lit, and a war stretching across the universes, across an endless succession of identical Earths, fought between dragons, spells, and crossbows and repeating rifles, machine guns, and artillery is about to begin in white-hot rage and fury. Where it will end - and how - no one knows.

    NEED MORE
This series is so good, I can't wait to get my hands on the next!
    Hell Hath No Fury
A solid second book of an amusing book series. You really cannot go wrong with dragons, telepathics, and wizards. This is a story for those that enjoy an elaborately woven plot lines that bridge multiple books.
Both story, & reading are remarkably done...
The one thing I can say is brilliant.
I listened the whole night, hooked.
    However,
I advise you to make notes on
Who the names are. In spite of being confused
most of the time as to what name belonged to which side of the conflict I couldn't stop listening to this engaging novel. WOW..!

    Publisher's Summary:
They thought they knew how the universes worked. They were wrong!
In the almost two centuries since the discovery of the first interuniversal portal, Arcana has explored scores of other worlds - all of them duplicates of their own. Multiple Earths, virgin planets with a twist, because the ''explorers'' already know where to find all of their vast, untapped natural resources. Worlds beyond worlds, effectively infinite living space and mineral wealth. And in all that time, they have never encountered another intelligent species. No cities, no vast empires, no civilizations, and no equivalent of their own dragons, gryphons, spells, and wizards.
But all of that is about to change. It seems there is intelligent life elsewhere in the multiverse. Other human intelligent life, with terrifying new weapons and powers of the mind...and wizards who go by the strange title of ''scientist''.

    we'll get there...eventually.
inter dimensional combat between two totally different civilizations. awesome! But first...Let's talk about the three major religions of one of the civilizations, since the 12 different factions from that civilization will need to form One government, we'll need to go in depth into their religious beliefs.
do you know that person that gets sidetracked while telling you a story? that is this for 32 hours. as Bill Cosby used to say, "I told you that story to tell you this story."
It's a pretty good story. It feels like the author has seen these two worlds and wants to tell us all about them. unfortunately, he only focuses on one of the worlds in this book. maybe the next book focuses on the other world. I'll never know.
    next time
Too much information. Hard to follow story line. Mark Boyett is one of my favorite narrators and even he couldn't keep my attention.
So much narrative. Show, don't tell. Balance.
The authors live to hear themselves write. Hell's Gate overflows with narrative, with little dialog and action. Whole chapters ooze by with exhaustive narrative, telling us everything that happens and everything that is thought. There's long, long passages telling us about the exhausting multiple worlds. There's little dialog to let us connect with the characters.
This flood of words leaves me drowning in details about the multiple worlds, confused by the made up words and never-ending details that add facts, not information.
Sorry Mark wasted his time narrating this one
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
    Linda Evans
Has Hell's Gate turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I have other David Weber Books, I know that with 20 books a year he has to have help putting them out..
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The detail about every thing was great. It's to bad it was about things that didn't matter. There was a whole chapter in detail about a horse that you never saw again.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hell's Gate?
This book should have been abridged.
Good story but repetitive and slow moving
I liked the main characters and how their personalities were developed, I was very disappointed for how repetitive this book was. The plot was extremely slow.

    Publisher's Summary:
United States of Japan is set in a gripping alternate history where the Japanese Empire rules over America with huge robots. Is resistance possible in the form of subversive video games?
Decades ago, Japan won the Second World War. Americans worship their infallible emperor, and nobody believes that Japan's conduct in the war was anything but exemplary.
Nobody, that is, except the George Washingtons, a group of rebels fighting for freedom. Their latest terrorist tactic is to distribute an illegal video game that asks players to imagine what the world might be like if the United States had won the war instead. Captain Beniko Ishimura's job is to censor video games, and he is tasked with getting to the bottom of this disturbing new development.
But Ishimura's hiding something...kind of. He's slowly been discovering that the case of the George Washingtons is more complicated than it seems, and the subversive video game's origins are even more controversial and dangerous than the censors originally suspected.
A spiritual sequel to Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle, United States of Japan carries on the legacy of Dick's famous alternate history, focusing on how Americans and Japanese deal with their guilt and troubled relationship to the past.
Peter Tieryas is a character artist who has worked on films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Alice in Wonderland and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
His novel, Bald New World, was listed as one of Buzzfeed's 15 Highly Anticipated Books as well as Publishers Weekly's Best Science Fiction Books of Summer 2014.

    FLESH PHONE
As soon as I saw this in the Coming soon section, I put it on my wish list. I am a fan of this type of scenario. No, I don't want a foreign government to take us over, but neither do I want a Zombie Apocalypse, yet I enjoy those type of books I am a fan of Vaughn Heppner's Invasion series. I am also a fan of robots, especially giant robots. As another reviewer mentions in the first three hours, a robot is mentioned and that is it. I could not get past three hours. Peter Tieryas tells us things, but shows us nothing. Seemed more like a soap opera about some loser, than anything else. Peter has a great idea, he just needs to get a co/author to help with the writing.
The narrator sounds like he is on the verge of crying his eyes out, no matter what character he is attempting.
    weak story, worse reader
the narrator mafe everyone sound like a disinterested, glib, petulant, whining teen. had to force my way through to the end and will avoid his narration from here on out. just awful.
the story was a weak cyberpunk jaunt and an insult to its influence.
    avoid.
An intricate look at a grim alternate history
I picked up United States of Japan on a recommendation from a friend and was expecting a fun but blockbuster-style action/adventure. Instead, I was totally blown away by the intensity and intricacy of the storyline and the ideas presented here. This is, at its heart, a very serious book. There are fun things like the huge towering mecha battles and a look at an alternate universe where technology took a very different course, but what really shines here are the characters and the decisions they make. This is not a world I'd want to live in, and it's a grim mirror to where we could have gone.

    good read
I enjoined the entire slaver wars series, can't wait for the next one. nicely narated
    Loved it!
This addition to the saga was a wonderful ride from beginning to end, it addressed a problem I felt the series had for a very long time, it not only continued with exciting space battles, but it made exploration and discovery exciting. That was a huge bonus to the military sci-fi elements of the story.
I also loved how the characters were able to come to the rescue like old school cavalry and had a few fights that were decidedly not fair (I'm not a fan of a fair fight,), it was nice to read some uncontested wins, but for those who want the struggle, don't worry, plenty of that there. I don't think you can have a military sci-fi story without the struggle of some kind and this story does not fail in that respect.
The stakes are as high as ever and the book ends on a truly epic note.
    WORST NARRATION EVER
This quite average installment of a totally typical space opera is absolutely ruined by the inflexion choices made in the audible narration. The voice over choices are a combination of Brian from Family Guy and the cast of the Smurf Village. just awful. please make it stop!
    Next Book??
When is the next book. This series always wanting more. A new AI in story and I hope we can get back the AI we lost. Keep them coming.
    Could do Better!
I would have given an extra star for the story, but the narration let the book down badly. The narration can, in my opinion, make or break a book, even if it is good.
This book had all the makings of a good story. What a shame!

    Where's the rest!?!
This is a good book. But I have 45 minutes left and just realized the rest of the series isn't on audible. Where are the other books!?!?!
    Very good story
The type of story that hooks you in. You just can't stop listening.
    Narrated very well.
    Too much corn and cheese...
What would have made Wanderer's Escape better?
Maybe a little humor and to slow down the progression of relationships.
Would you ever listen to anything by Simon Goodson again?
No. His writing was painfully corny to me. I could not finish this book.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Tone down the characters emotions and relationships to a level that isn't kinda of creepy.
    Any additional comments?
This book is awful. I see why the rest of the series is not on Audible. It's cliche, cheesy, and feels.. Bland. Also the main character got attached to the other two prisoners way too quick. It was so weird.
    Nice science fiction read.
What did you love best about Wanderer's Escape?
This book takes you on an interesting journey of an escaped slave. The characters are interesting and the ideas of the AI are interesting as well.
The book addresses some adult themes but the author does so in a way that is discrete.
I do not recall any objectionable language.
It is truly nice to find an author that can tell an intriguing story without the need to appeal to the crude or obscene language or descriptions.
I will be listening to the books that follow in the series.
    very enjoyable
I really enjoyed this performance and look forward to the rest of the series, very well done

Repetitive dialogue and fixation on brothels.
    Any additional comments?
This is the first book I've ever read by Raymond L. Well. The story had an interesting premise. Earth invaded by aliens and a small portion of Earth's fleet is stationed at its single interstellar colony. If I had to compare it to another book, it would probably be John Ringo's book "Live free or Die". I really enjoyed that book by John Ringo and was really expecting to like this book as well.
There are two things that really bothered me about this book. The first is that the invading aliens want to take humans and sell them into slavery in back in their worlds and specifically to sell women into sexual slavery. I know that generally an author mentions this type of stuff to show just how evil the aliens are but for 75% of the book, every conversation between aliens ends with them expounding on how they can't wait to either sell these human women to the brothels or to go to the brothels themselves to (well you get the idea). Even when our human main character returns to his family from visiting an alien planet, when they ask him about the wonders he saw there, the conversation devolves into him explaining the differences between brothels and pleasure houses that these human women would be sold too. By the time I reached the half way point, I had lost count of how many times this was brought up. There is really a strange fixation on sexual slavery in this book.
The second issue I had was repetitive dialogue. In one scene, the admiral is mentioning to the captain that the invading aliens cultural reminds him of the Pirates of the Barbary Coast on earth. In the next scene the admiral is speaking with the governor and again uses the Barbary Coast analogy. Then in the next chapter, the captain walks up to the admiral and ask him "Doesn't these aliens remind you of the Pirates of the Barbary Coast?", then going on to explain the history of those pirates. I don't know if you would consider this sloppy dialogue or if this is how you force feed an idea to the reader but I found it to be very annoying. This is just one example of repetitive dialogue and the story is filled with other instances of this occurring.
As for narration. I will say that I personally believe that Liam Owen is an acquired taste. Not that he is bad at all, just different. When I first heard a book by him, I didn't care for his narration but now that I have listened to at least 4 other books he has read, I like his narration.

    By a Prepper for Preppers
I enjoyed this book much more that I thought I would. While I like the genre, I tend to be pretty critical of authors that are looking only to write a how to book with a thin veneer of fiction or write a perfect scenario for the prepper protagonist to flourish in. This book did have a bit of both of those issues but not to the extent that I couldnt enjoy the story.
This book has really locked itself into a point in time (now) in mentioning names of current political figures and popular podcasts and Youtube channels, but for me that added some reality to it and illustrated that this author is genuinely interested in the topics he is writes about.
I also like the narration by Kevin Pierce. Pierce has narrated several books that I have listened to (The Borrowed World, Ashes of the Unspeakable, The Days of Noah and the "299 Days" series by Glen Tate). For some reason the genre has latched onto Pierce, and my only issue is that hearing his voice and having listened to several of his narrations the stories sometimes will run together in my mind. But maybe thats just me.
Full Disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
    I'm Surrounded By Idiots
Which character as performed by Kevin Pierce was your favorite?
Kevin Pierce does an excellent job with all the characters without distracting from the story. I've listened to quite a few books that he's narrated and often search for books by good narrators instead of subject or author.
Kevin Pierce is one of those narrators.
    Any additional comments?
The book points out the difficulties in having a prepared environment in the middle of a urban/suburban area. The main character is forced to make difficult decisions when dealing with looters, neighbors, HOAs and other idiots.
The book is well written book with more focus on relationships than the event. The characters all have flaws and discover that life is better together than alone.

    THE SIGNAL WAS RECEIVED
Jon Hudson has become more than just the director of the Department of Homeland Security's Fusion Center - Paranormal. He is now a husband and a father, surrounded by a team who have become a family. So when a series of strange new threats rise from the depths and fall from the sky, the stakes are higher than ever.
    THE HARBINGERS ARRIVE
While Maigo, the young woman who was once a part of the kaiju known as Nemesis, goddess of vengeance, and Lilly, a chimera cat-woman, sneak off to investigate Big Diomede, an island with an ancient secret inside Russian territory, two monsters fall from the sky. One heads for Tokyo, the other for the already battered Boston. Tsunamis rise from the depths, leveling cities. The two new kaiju - Giger and Lovecraft - follow close behind, bringing death and destruction with them. And Hudson realizes the horrible truth: the Aeros, an alien race plotting mankind's destruction, have sent these kaiju in advance.
    THE WAR BEGINS
Drawn by the chaos, and by her connection to people she and her new "voice", Katsu Endo, are fond of, Nemesis rises to the defense of humanity. But the Queen of the Monsters is not alone. Maigo and Lilly unleash an ancient protector known as Hyperion, and the first battle for the fate of the human race, in all dimensions, begins.

    Delightfully Sublime Ear Candy
This book and the entire Nemesis saga are wonderful reminders of the pulps and drive-in creature features I enjoyed in my youth... These stories are the best and modern reincarnation of both... Kinda reminds me of a mix of X files and those creature flicks... Not really hard SF or gorey monster tale, but meets in the middle w/ supremely quirky humor and pop culture illusions... We have genetic engineering of both man and the aliens man is fighting... Godzilla reminiscent monsters like an exodus from Monster Island... Especially Hyperion who very much resembles the giant robot from one of those Godzilla movies... There also a bit of that Saturday morning cartoon appeal... Some obvious, and sneakily subtle references to StarTrek... Pricking of fingers like in The Thing Reboot...
Great read w/ great narration and if you're a closet guilty pleasure kinad person you'll gobble this up... There's quite a bit of crossover w/ the other Robinson storylines, but was surprised the Chess Team didn't make an appearance... Worth the credit and a trip back into our miss spent youth;)
    Awesome story. Great narration.

    Any additional comments?
It's hard to describe what is so much fun about this book without giving things away, but I'll give it a shot. Not only is this a great kaiju book, the story ties together characters from numerous Jeremy Robinson titles in a way that is wholly organic. Were the interactions planned from the beginning? It would be difficult to believe, but if anyone could do it, Robinson could. This book is a non-stop thrill ride and a killer summer read from beginning to end.
Now it's on to book #5.
