    missing sections of stories
the performance was great, but you can tell good size portions of the stories were deliberately left out. I can understand some parts being removed due to their sexual nature, but the rest just ruin the story.
    Great book
I am a huge McCaffrey fan and I love Marina Sirtis. At first though, it was difficult to listen to the narration. Once I was used to her accent, it was wonderful. A great story and the performance of the narration really brought it to life.

Six-time Hugo Award winner Ben Bova chronicles the saga of humankind's expansion beyond the solar system in Apes and Angels, the last installment in the Star Quest Trilogy.
Humankind headed out to the stars not for conquest, nor exploration, nor even for curiosity. Humans went to the stars in a desperate crusade to save intelligent life wherever they found it.
A wave of death is spreading through the Milky Way galaxy, an expanding sphere of lethal gamma radiation that erupted from the galaxy's core 28,000 years ago and now is approaching Earth's vicinity at the speed of light. Every world it touched was wiped clean of all life. But it's possible to protect a planet from gamma radiation. Earth is safe.
Now, guided by the ancient intelligent machines called the Predecessors, men and women from Earth seek out those precious, rare worlds that harbor intelligent species, determined to save them from the doom that is hurtling toward them.
The crew of the Odysseus has arrived at Mithra Gamma, the third planet of the star Mithra, to protect the stone-age inhabitants from the Death Wave. But they'll also have to protect themselves.

Inconsistencies kill the last quarter of the story
I'm a big Ben Bova fan but I'm not sure what happened with the plot points towards the end of the book. Like some other SciFi available technology suddenly appeared unavailable for the sake of uninteresting drama. A couple of the key characters appeared to suffer split personalities, their characters changing so radically from scene to scene. The story line was made obvious to the reader but became frustrating as the characters missed the obvious. Struggled through to the end.
    Another great book .
Yet another reason to listen to this title . Add this to your collection .
All I hope for in SF is here, & I'm fussy
Every Ben B. I've immersed myself in has not only story element ability, but scientific validity & vision. I've learned more about the how the universe works with each novel. The words unintended consequences are given substance here. I think longer deeper considerations now.
Oh yes, and more. I am grateful for all of it.
    Enjoyable
Enjoyable, had me listening all day. Bova has a knack for making me feel very interested in the alien characters and their fate.
    Really Different Couldn't Stop Listening
Generally am getting tired of listening to science fiction but this one was very different. Different in the sense that hey is no great insane technology but humans and had to sleep 400 years to get places in the Galaxy and so on...

    Great collection of stories!
Take 3 amazing novels about a singular and unique protagonist and this is what you get. I already had the 3 books but couldn't resist getting the collection. Love being able to listen all in one long set. Highly recommend the set. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
    Spellbinding story
This is one of the best stories I have heard in a long time! I listened to the pre book and was hooked. you want to keep listening to see what happens next!
I am fascinated by time travel and alternate universes and this has hooked me on this story and I cannot wait for more to be on Audible.
Michael Pauley does a fantastic job handling all the different voices that I would think it is a crew of people doing it. The sound effect are great and I cannot say I have heard another audio book that was better! I will look for other books by him!
    This trilogy is really entertaining
I discovered Adair Hart via a Bookbub email. I no longer purchase books because the premise sounds interesting. It must have a minimum of 4.2 stars and sound interesting, Audible is expensive!
    That said...
A wonderful time travel story, in the Jules Verne tradition. Not a whole bunch of hokie crap. Straight forward, clear and unlike many other books, every word added to the story. It's not a fast read/listen, you must pay attention but you will be, OH SO ENTERTAINED!
It's Doctor Who with zero personality.
I only listened to the first book and could barely force my way through that one.
    Knockoff
This is basically a blatant Doctor Who ripoff with a less interesting protagonist. He even has a ship that's "bigger on the inside", though that exact phrase isn't used.

All Keo has to do is track down and kill a rebel leader named Tobias. Keo smiles while thinking, The more things change, the more they stay the same. Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Kris Longknife "can kick, shoot, and punch her way out of any dangerous situation" (Sci Fi magazine), and her latest adventure in the New York Times best-selling series is as perilous as they come.
Despite her role as a fleet admiral and protector of a planetary system, Kris is still beholden to her great-grandfather King Raymond's commands. She has been personally selected for a mission that will, should she succeed, save millions of lives.
The Peterwald Empire is in the midst of civil war. On one side is the tyrannical empress; on the other is the last person Kris ever wants to see again: Grand Duchess Vicky Peterwald. Due to their shared history, the emperor believes Kris can mediate between the factions and bring about peace. But before Kris even begins her mission, she survives multiple assassination attempts on her family's home world. Someone doesn't want her interfering in the empire's affairs. Kris immediately suspects Vicky or the empress, only to learn that it could also be a traitor among her own people.

    Thrilling
I was beginning to think that Shepherd had given up on the series; but, alas a new book has finally come out.
Kris and Jack are now married and they have a new baby girl named Ruth. They have returned home and King Ray has a new assignment for Kris. As we know from prior books, the Peterwald Empire is in a civil war. Emperor Peterwald has asked for mediation between Vicky and himself. He has asked for Kris to be the mediator. Of course, the evil stepmother is still attempting to kill Vicky and take over the Empire. Someone attempts to assassinate Kris and family even before she leaves to the mediation site. Is it the Empress or someone from her own country?
The story is well written and very fast paced. There is lots of military action including space battles and land engagements. The suspense builds throughout the story and, of course, Shepherd tosses in some humor. I learn a bit about mediation and negotiation techniques from Kriss mediation team. My favorite character is still Nellie. I sure wish I had a Nellie of my own. Shepherd has nicely tired up some of the subplots. The book ending makes me think that this is the end of the series, but I sure hope he continues with the series. I cannot wait to see what happens next to the various characters.
Dina Pearlman does an excellent job narrating the series. I am glad the series has had the same narrator throughout. Pearlman is an actress and audiobook narrator.
    End of a series?
I've enjoyed the Kris Longknife and Vickie Peterwald series of books and this was no exception. I do have to ask, given the storyline and tone if this is not the end of the Longknife part of the story? I saw that because it seems to have a "happy ever after" ending and the resolution of several plot points.
That said, let me say I hope we will have other books in both series.
I hope that this is not the end of the great serie
I have listened to this series a number of time so I hope that there is more to come.
    Another AMAZING installment!
Mike Shepherd has done it again! Bold is another quirky, somewhat over the top space opera that pleases every second. Highly recommended and, if it's the finale, it is a fantastic way to end the Kris Longknife saga.
Usual affair with a nice ending
If you have made it this far in the series, you know what you get.

    Love, love, LOVE this series!
Fiona Russell was kidnapped from Earth by aliens, but now the aliens don't know what to do with her. She's trouble if she's found on their ship, so they drop her off on a cargo vessel where she is subsequently disguised and used as slave labor. Waiting for an opportunity to escape the abusive captain and his thugs, she's even willing to run off with yet another scary alien race, but they run off without her. What's a girl to do?
Fortunately, the next aliens she meets are . . . but that would be telling!
Don't miss this second book of the series, but make sure you start with the first!
Christina Delaine's performance is pitch perfect for this wonderful series!
    This is a treasure!
    Credit worthy? You bet!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (For anyone who loves great writing, great characters, sci fi/romance, and lots of action. So. Much. Fun!)
Not as good as the first in series
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Dark Horse, this one almost felt like the same story, different characters. Not particularly impressed.
More action, adventure & romance in sci-fi space.
There were some moments in this story that was very similar to the first story, but by the second half that starts wane and the action, adventure really gains momentum. I like how there is an excerpt of the next book at the end of Dark Horse and Dark Deeds, it really makes you want to get the next book in the series immediately to find out what happens. To me this is an ingenious way to get the reader to by the next book, especially if they are on the cusp of deciding when to get it. I really liked the friendship that the AI and Fiona created and can't wait to find out what happens in the next book. Defiantly need to read this book in order to get the full effect. Narrator is good, and I would be happy to listen to her again anytime. With the Whispersync all three books are less than a credit and worth the price.
An Earth Woman, a Class5 Ship & an Alien, episode2
Surprise! Or not. The Tecran stole another "Orange", a previously unknown advanced sentient species. Fiona Russell is an Earth architect stolen just after Rose McKenzie disappeared from the same area. When things heat up for the Tecran, Fiona is offloaded to a Garmann commercial freighter.

Length: 7 hrs and 44 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-11-16
    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 81 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
This science fiction novel describes the epic voyage of the spacecraft Leonora Christine, which will take a 40-strong crew to a planet some 30 light years distant.
From practically the very first minute, Tau Zero sets scientific realities in dramatic tension with the very real emotional and psychological states of the travelers, exploring the effect of time contraction due to traveling at near-light speed on the human psyche. This tension is a dynamic that Anderson explores with great success over the course of the novel, as 50 crewmembers settle in for the long journey together. While they are a highly trained team of scientists and researchers and therefore professionals, they are also a community of individuals, each of them trying to create for him or herself a life in a whole new space - or, literally, in space.
It isn't long, however, before the voyage takes a turn for the worse. The ship passes through a small, uncharted nebula that makes it impossible to decelerate the ship. Their only hope is to do the opposite and speed up. But acceleration towards and within the speed of light means that time outside the spaceship passes even more rapidly, sending the crew deeper into space and further into an unknown future.

    Not What I Hoped For
I had to take some time and let my mind digest this audiobook, I felt kinda blah about it in general and wanted to hone in on exactly why because its a well-written story. I really enjoy science fiction and especially the space opera genre, but for me there just wasnt enough action to keep me engaged and its disappointing to me because the synopsis gave me high hopes.
This book is really a study in relationships among the crew of spaceship Leonora Christine, which is fine, but not what Im looking for in my SciFi, I kept thinking, okay lets get to the action and the more I listened the more I realized it wasnt going to happen at least not to the degree I wanted or expected.
The audiobook is narrated by Neil Hellegers, and I thought he did a great job narrating! He fully voiced a wide variety characters in this book, no small feat and how can you not love a narrator who can carry a tune? The sound quality of this audiobook was average, theres something clarity wise in the production thats just a tad off, and makes the narrator sound winded. I listened to other samples of the narrator's work and this was not an issue. Its specific to this audiobook and I look forward to hearing more from this narrator.
This audiobook was gifted to me exchange for an unbiased review!
Hard Sci Fi at an epic scale
This book blew my mind a bit. At first the humans were not the most interesting characters, it was instead the ship that caught my interest. As the story progressed I began to care about the people while the ship remained the star of the book. Very rich in details and epic in scale, extremely scientific feeling read. The performance was wonderful as well.
    Excellent Performance
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Charles Reymont. He's tough as nails and by the book; but can still show compassion and tact in the most dire of circumstances.
Which character as performed by Neil Hellegers was your favorite?

    Nathan Lowell !
I've read or listened to everything Lowell has written and have enjoyed every instance of it. This is as good as when these stories were under podcast. Only difference Nathan did the original readings and very well at that.
Overall five stars is really not fair, there should be more Stars.
Ishmael hits adulthood, adulthood hits back
Now in his 30s Ishmael has to confront problems in his marriage and other problems not related to sailing a solar clipper. Overall, older Ishmael is a slightly more interesting and convincingly matured character, but the story is therefore slightly more character development and slightly less swashbuckling. I recommend the series, but would strongly suggest reading the books in order.
    riveting but objectively boring
I really like this book I'm not sure why the subject matter at first glance seems like paint drying for a Sci-Fi novel. however I start listening to it and I can't put it down.

    Publisher's Summary:
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Legion of the Damned Novels and The Mutant Files comes the first novel in a postapocalyptic military science fiction series about America rising from the ashes of a global catastrophe.
On May Day 2018, 60 meteors entered Earth's atmosphere and exploded around the globe with a force greater than a nuclear blast. Earthquakes and tsunamis followed. Then China attacked Europe, Asia, and the United States in the belief the disaster was an act of war. Washington, DC was a casualty of the meteor onslaught that decimated the nation's leadership and left the surviving elements of the armed forces to try to restore order as American society fell apart.
As refugees across America band together and engage in open warfare with the military over scarce resources, a select group of individuals representing the surviving corporate structure makes a power play to rebuild the country in a free-market image as The New Confederacy.

Uh what did I just buy? Not as good as the ratings
Would you try another book from William C. Dietz and/or Noah Michael Levine?
I may pass on future books from this author. While I don't like the progressive angle of this book it is not why I really dislike it. I can read other views, but I need to be entertained by an actually engaging story. This is just a road trip for some of some lost tribe of sorta soldiers and an implausible presidential story line with outrageous stereotypes of what conservatism is.
What could William C. Dietz have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Readers of dystopian/military fiction tend to understand firearms, military strategy and maneuver and know military equipment so if you are going to write in this genre understand that you may need to employ people knowledgeable in the subject. There are so many errors in the technical aspects in this book like an M1A2 Abrams tank having a 105mm gun, and Apache helicopters that fly everywhere without maintenance, but the Striker vehicles need new engines after 1000 miles. Did I mention that this book is boring and the battle scenes involve days of driving and 5 minutes of battle with little depth of action.
Which character as performed by Noah Michael Levine was your favorite?
    Nobody really stood out.
Could you see Into the Guns being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, Woody Harrelson, and Whoopie Goldberg.
    Any additional comments?
I don't know how this book ended, because I have to move on because it just can't get into it after 5 hours of listening.
    Definitely a progressive story
Definitely a progressive slant on a American civil war, but not a bad read. Why do I call it progressive?
    1. During a town hall an assassination attempt on Sloan's life was stopped by one of the locals. Then everyone started shooting at the opposite political party.
This is how progressives see gun owners .
    2. The confederates were seen as money grubbing idiots. A CEO instead of a president. All about profits and not the people. According to progressives this is conservatism.
Living in the South I find most confederates care about their neighbors, want smaller government, and want people to be responsible.
But again, all politics aside not a bad read
    good listen
enjoyed the book and looking forward to vol 2.
