Beautiful Story of Jesus birth

Would you listen to The Christmas Journey again? Why?

This is very well done. The narrator is wonderful. The account of Christ's birth is told in a refreshing new way. I have listened to this at least a dozen times. It never disappoints. It is so well done.

Critic Reviews:

Shelley Shepard Gray writes with honesty, tenderness, and depth. Her characters are admirable, richly layered, and impossible to forget long after the story is done. (Jillian Hart)

A touching love story with a riveting portrayal of the Amish way of life. Shelley Shepard Gray has created a romance readers will root for. (Tracey Bateman, author of Defiant Heart)

Members Reviews:

Very Exciting and Insteresting!

Would you listen to Hidden again? Why?

i would listen because of all the action going on, because of the unpredicted events that come in the story!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the plot of the story and how there was communication between Amish and the Englishers

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potters other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time listening

Who was the most memorable character of Hidden and why?

My favorite character was Anna because I liked how she was struggling with her past and how she managed to cope with and how she came up with all the solutions. I liked how seeking God was her first step in everything.

Predictable but enjoyable none the less

Would you try another book from Shelley Shepard Gray and/or Kirsten Potter?

Maybe

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes,

Any additional comments?

Predictable, a bit slow, but i finished it and parts were sweet and enjoyable. The Amish life style is always fascinating.

The Regime: Evil Advances (Before They Were Left Behind, Book 2)

This entire series is EXCELLENT.

Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins have delved into to the Gospels of the Bible and written

the best (my opinion) fiction that is fact-based on what the Gospels teach us.

I lost my original set of the 16 books of this series when I moved to another state. I was heart-

broken to say the least. Thanks to the sellers on Amazon I have replaced every book at

very reasonable prices.

Thank you Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins for bringing this series to us. I have read several of

your books in this series at least three times. With each reading one sees more and more and

understands a lot. I also have their book "Are We Living In End Times"......this book may have

been published in 2000... but for the 27 % of the Gospels that we don't spend time to study about...

it's astonishing how much of this book reflects the world today in 2013. A MUST READ ALSO!

100%SATISFIED!

All three of prequels are amazing!! The Rising, The Regime, & The Rapture~~all part of the Left Behind Series; page turners all! It's important to realize that these three books should be read as prequels and not in line as listed in some of the other books. Still a joy; they are much more enjoyable at the first part of the series.

The condition of my books were perfect and arrived in a very timely manner. I highly recommend the series, the purchase through Amazon, and will ABSOLUTELY be a return customer 100% satisfied.

Book #2 of the Left Behind series was hard to put down!

It's great that the authors added three books at the beginning of the series to give us a solid background of the characters and who they really are. I'm almost glad that I didn't get to read the "Left Behind" series until now. I had an opportunity years ago (when Left Behind was the first book in the series) but I didn't have access to all of the books so I guess I lost interest. Even more exciting is the fact that I am now only one book away from the rapture where the real action begins!

"The Regime" and all other books in the series are based on a religious story, which may keep some people from giving it a chance, but I cannot stress enough how great the books really are. Even though I believe in a greater power, I myself haven't stepped into a church in many years; and I've never been into books about religion. I think everyone who likes action and adventure should give the "Left Behind" series a try!

In "The Regime" things are starting to come together; and Nicolae Carpathia is more heartless and ruthless than ever. Signs of the apocalypse are starting to become evident.

Title: Sanctuary

Author: Beverly Lewis, David Lewis

Narrator: Aimee Lilly

Format: Abridged

Length: 3 hrs and 13 mins

Language: English

Release date: 07-30-10

Publisher: christianaudio.com

Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 9 votes

Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational

Publisher's Summary:

Melissa James has a picture-perfect existence - or so it seems. In reality, she has been looking over her shoulder her entire life. Just as her secrets are about to catch up with her, she seeks a haven in Pennsylvania Amish Country. Will her stay bring her peace, or will it bring danger to the Plain community?

Critic Reviews:

"[T]he Lewises throw in some artful plot twists and adeptly avoid the trap of a fairy tale ending. The final choices made by Ryan and Melissa will satisfy Beverly Lewis's devoted readership, as will the salvation message that holds the story together." (Publishers Weekly)

Members Reviews:

Disappointing

This is the 2nd book in the series, and plot events are not resolved. It seems as if Beverly Lewis is luring the reader to buy the next book. The book moves slowly. Nothing is resolved. Leah and Jonas's situation is beyond sad. They were somewhat faithless for people of faith. I am very disappointed in this series. I won't get the 3rd book.

WELL WRITTEN and GETS TO YOUR SOUL

I have read the series Abrams daughters. They may seem odd to us who do not live the Amish, PLAIN, lifestyle, but for those who do, it is very REAL. The writing for all the books was superb, and I thouroughly enjoyed the plots and twist and turns. I have always enjoyed reading about Amish People, and wonder if I would have the strength that they have, day after day. Beverly Lewis is a gifted writer and this book is not full of 'fillers'. It seems true to the lifestyle, and the hurts, loves, and choices other people we may not be accustomed to- have to make...just like us.

The Betrayal

How can sisters become stranger's? Through betrayal only. Such sadness but the good Lord will find a way to help them overcome. Let's look to the next story to find the answers.

Good Storyline and Characters.

Good Christian truth well presented even though some issues are hard to deal with. My only problem is the storyline dragged on to long.

A Peek into the Amish Life

wonderful read! A peek into the Amish lifestyle. Truly enjoyed this book, and ordered another by same author.

Title: The Covenant

Subtitle: Abram's Daughters Series #1

Author: Beverly Lewis

Narrator: Aimee Lilly

Format: Abridged

Length: 3 hrs and 9 mins

Language: English

Release date: 07-30-10

Publisher: christianaudio.com

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 28 votes

Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational

Publisher's Summary:

Following such best sellers as The Shunning and The Postcard, Beverly Lewis's explosive new novel, The Covenant, unveils the layers of deeply rooted Amish tradition as seen through the eyes of Leah and Sadie Ebersol, two courting-age sisters.

The Amish community of Gobbler's Knob holds everything Leah has ever desired until a pact with her older sister, lured by the outside world, leaves her clinging to God's promises.

Critic Reviews:

"Lewis is a master of eliciting empathy for characters caught in troubles of their own making. The Amish community with all of its intricacies is vibrantly drawn (Lewis grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country), and the tension between it and the encroaching English world is palpable." (Library Journal)

Members Reviews:

Lovely yet heart wrenching story

Aimee Lilly does a superb job of bringing this book to life, pronouncing the speech of the old order Amish so well, as she reads another story written in the hand of Beverly Lewis. This one has me on the edge of my seat, so to speak. Unlike watching a mystery show on TV, I can totally relax as I lie down, eyes closed, allowing the author to paint scene after scene of her books. I'm off to buy book two as this tale is far from over. So many loose ends to tie. My advice? Enjoy!

Love this series

I really enjoyed listening to this book along with the other bookes in the Abram's Daughter's series...a must read!

A GREAT SERIES

As always, Beverly Lewis is a great author and this is a great series. She brings Amish life to our lives. Aimee Lilly is an excellent narrator also. Thank you so much for producing this series!

Members Reviews:

Very much dislike the narrator

If you could sum up The Preacher's Daughter in three words, what would they be?

What did you like best about this story?

What didnt you like about Aimee Lillys performance?

Aimee's choice to use a Dutch accent was EXTREMELY distracting from this work.

If you could rename The Preacher's Daughter, what would you call it?

Any additional comments?

The book is very good, but Aimee chooses to use a "Dutch" accent in the reading of this series which is so distracting that I have to force myself to read the book. I have already read 5 of Beverly Lewis's series. I would consider this a strong deterrant to this particular series.

Wondered why it was so short!

This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love beverly lewis books. I didn't realize that I was purchasing an abridged book and not the original book. No wonder it was only 8.00. And the woman reading the book sounded like an older russian lady instead of a young Amish girl. I see that she wasn't used again in other Beverly Lewis books, thank goodness!

Has The Preacher's Daughter turned you off from other books in this genre?

No way!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She sounded too old and Not Amish, but Russian

This book you new the main "secret" while reading the series. But it was still a super story. Worth the read.

Captured My Attention

If you could sum up Showers in Season in three words, what would they be?

I couldn't stop listening to this story. It captured my attention immediately. The lives of the families and women were so easy to identify with and the audio was so easy to listen to. I have returned other books because the narrator was just awful. I felt like the story teller had totally drawn me into the worlds of these families. I had to get the other books in the series!

What did you like best about this story?

It was so easy to listen to!

What does Kathy Garver bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Her motherly, warm voice!

If you could take any character from Showers in Season out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Brenda. I was just like her once. Homeschooling and married to an unbeliever. I am more like Sylvia now, though

return to the neigbor hood

it hard to review without giveing away the story in many ways this was better than part 1

Members Reviews:

What a journey! Love traveling with Katie.

Once again, Robin Jones Gunn places me back into Katie Weldon and Christy Miller's world at Ranch Corono University with the second installment of the Katie Weldon series, On a Whim. Right away, I felt like I hadn't missed a beat from one novel to the next. I was welcomed into a hangout of my closest friends. I saw Katie growing in her relationship with Rick and watched as Todd and Christy tried to find the rhythm of marriage. Hanging around in the background was Eli, Rick's roommate and Todd's friend from Africa, who appears to be making a nitch in their story. I love these group of friends. One of my favorite things about Robin Jones Gunn's writing is that the Christian faith is very natural to these people. They think about God and really rely on him as the struggles arise in their lives. I highly recommend this book to teenagers, college students, and fans of the Christy Miller series.

such a great series

The Katie Weldon Series intertwine with the "Christy Miller Series and the Sierra Jensen Series" as they are all friend and each series tell the story of the main character of the series. However, you do not have to have read the first series to enjoy any of the subsequent series... we hadn't read the Christy Miller Series before we read the Sierra Jensen Series"

We love the "Katie Weldon Series" If you have loved other books by Robin Jones Gunn.... or good, clean, intriguing (girl flick) books for your teen/young adult that are full of great values, life lessons and integrity...these are your books!!! They are also woven with Biblical values and how to view dating or not dating for a godly perspective... (really they are all about trusting God for the "one" He has for you) In a society where almost every TV series show people portrayed as sleeping w/various other people w/no consequences or remorse...these books are so right and refreshing.
