It was almost half way through the book before it got interesting.

Likable characters, cute book but the story had a few problems. The love story did not match the time it was set in. It also took half the book before the story became interesting and about Arabella. Up until then it was almost entirely about her brother. The publisher's summary only talks about Arabella. The other issue I had with it was that it took Arabella 5 second to turn her resentment toward Alessandro to an absolute love which was completely unexplained. I did however like the fact that CC did not go on and on like some other writers about the same mind babble in character's heads.

The ending was also weak. Overall I am not sure if I could recommend this book. Read it if what I said does not bother you otherwise you will probably enjoy some of CC's other work more entertaining.

A very pleasant read

In a very class-conscious society, a girl with a family who must be employed, no dowry, and some VERY obnoxious relatives would not expect to meet with an earl's brother/naval hero in the ballrooms of the ton. But the hero is blinded at Trafalgar, becomes embittered and alone but for one friend. They happen to meet in the wallflowers corner, and what she says to him makes him start on a course of self-evaluation. Then, they meet inadvertently in the park as she is escaping the relatives/exercising her uncle's disappointing large hound. It is a romance, a veteran's tale, a tribute to friendship, and a testimony to therapy dogs. All in all, a much better tale than the ordinary efforts. I found it well worth the read!

Pippa Rathborne gave an excellent performance without artifice.

Perfect

From the moment the story started I fell in love with Amelia. I enjoyed her quick wit and easy banter with Captain Worthington. I love these kinds of stories so much. I enjoyed every minute. Perfect beach read, even though I wasn't actually at the beach while reading it!

Unique Regency Romance

Narration Pippa Rathborne, Good.

She has the proper accent, and is a good storyteller, her voice did make the characters sound a lot older than they were.

The story is pretty typical of a regency romance in concept, but there were some unique elements to the story. Handsome and eligible army captain is wounded in war and returns blind. His snooty friends quickly realize he's no fun if he's blind and dump him like a hot potato. He reluctantly attends a ball and ends up getting dumped on the wallflower bench so his friend can grab a couple dances before they leave and he meets our wallflower Amelia.

Amelia is actually a really likable character - she's honest, doesn't have high expectations, uses self deprecating humor, she's sweet, caring and strong and she knows how to take care of herself.

Alexander was once a snoot right up there with the best of them, but he got a chance to see himself and his friends through Amelia's "eyes" and didn't care for what he saw (or heard?).

They start to click immediately and have an entertaining banter.

Fabulous!

A true romance story. Sebastian is refreshing! The story is very entertaining and I didn't want to stop listening. I highly recommend this.

Susan Duerden is amazing!

Decent story, had some flaws but not bad.

I enjoyed this story. I particularly liked the heroine quite a bit, but more so in the beginning of the story. She seemed to get a bit wishy washy and melancholy after the wedding! Which was a bit annoying. I was surprised with her attitude on how Sebastian convinced her father to allow them to marry. I thought it was brilliant. LOL she did not, instead of thanking him and being grateful she acted like he was the biggest liar on earth. I was glad when she finally started getting back to her normal spunky self.

Sebastian was a good hero when he wasn't beating himself up over the lie he told. He was handsome, smart and rich.

They had some great chemistry together and a couple of very well written sex scenes.

The story line and plot was good. The secrets were good secrets not stupid misunderstandings so there is that. There was a lot of great dialogue through out the entire book.

As for the narration, I enjoy Susan Duerden she does a fantastic job on the men's voices, everyone gets their own distinct voice and she reads with emotion. She is a favorite of mine. (I do wish she would ease up on the sing song drawn out words, but she is still great).

I got the kindle version free with my KU subscription and the whispersync audible for 1.99, great deal for sure.

The book whisperer.....

I love this story and could find a point or two that I would wish different but it is what it is and it's good.

Susan Duerden as NARRATOR is good but for one problem.... she whispers her way thru it. It's like she doesn't want to disturb someone nearby as she reads you the book. It's very unfortunate since you never doubt who is speaking or what they mean.... but it's all of the stuff between the characters speaking that's so odd. I find it practically puts me to sleep and the story is not that kind of creation!!!

Heat Factor: This is a steamy read but not for the sake of it, just what the story requires.... well done!

Love Cedric

What made the experience of listening to Her Wicked Proposal the most enjoyable?

The knowledge of the characters in the previous books in the series. You want to know what happens next. You know they will have to deal with their enemy and you don't know how they will be attacked.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Her Wicked Proposal?

When Anne approached Cedric in the garden and realized he had fallen and hurt himself. Your heart goes out to Cedric and you can appreciate Anne's sympathy. I felt so sad for Cedric when he was at the dinner table and spilt the wine. He was so embarrassed.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narration is just alright. Sometime you can't distinguish between the characters, male or female.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Overall the series so far is very good. When the Rogues and their wives come together and socialize and tease each other, you can see it in your mind's eye. I like the way Jonathan's characters is being developed. I also enjoy the ongoing relationships between the other men and their wives e.g. the passion between Godric and Emily continues, I like that. Also I can't wait to find out what happens to Hugo Waverly.

Too Scattered

I'm usually a fan of the Rogue Series, but this book had too many stories. with too much detail going on at the same time. At the beginning everything was great. Then a few chapters in other storyline were introduced. That's not usually a problem but it was difficult to figure out how they were connected to the main story.

Love this series

Throughly enjoyed this series so far cannot wait for the next one in this saga.

Good Listen Cute story

I only gave it a four star because it really is not .my first choice in reading material. That said I enjoyed it. Sometimes I listen without ear buds. My husband will listen or not, but enjoys listening when "tuned in" There were no embarrassing swear words. ( I was not brought up to use them, won't over react if I must hear them, but in a good book of my choice would rather not) All and all a nice book.

Most enjoyable

I've heard so many stories in real life about arranged marriages where the bride and groom started out their lives together on a promise and love and caring for each other followed and grew and lasted.

This is what this story is about and it was well told. It was happy and sad, loving and tender - all the right ingredients to make a good read/listen. And I didn't notice that it was being read to me by someone else which made it a great narration.

The Striker

What did you love best about The Striker?

This wasn't my favorite out of Monica McCarty's Highland Guard Series. There was just too much back and forth in the relationship of Eoin MacLean and Margaret MacDowell. Everytime Eoin told Margarette not to do something she went right ahead and did it and most of the time which ended up in a mess or death. Even thought her father treated her badly she kept running back to him and her family. Eoin or Margaret couldn't make up their mind about their relationship except to jump into bed every time they saw each other.

Would you recommend The Striker to your friends? Why or why not?

No. There are too many other highland books that are better. I almost didn't finish this book because it was just too frustrating. I have read all the books in their series and this is my least favorite.

Have you listened to any of Antony Fergusons other performances before? How does this one compare?

He did a really good job and I enjoyed listening to his narration. He changed characters very well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The extreme reaction was that I was so frustrated with the H&H and their back and forth relationship I almost didn't finish it.

Any additional comments?

There are two more books in this series I will probably "read" just because I've read all their others. I do want to see how this all ties together. I'm hoping that The Rock and The Ghost will be a great finish to this series.

This was my favorite in the series!!

Excellent!

This story was very well written. Here and there I went crazy over the female main character Emmaline as well as the male lead Rafe. But in the end it was exciting and a good read. It wasn't so full of adventure but it was still pretty interesting.

If you are looking for a fast paced exciting story, this is not it. The plot had a lot of promise but the last half of this book lagged. It was a somewhat sweet romance with very tame love scenes. It was ok but not a must read.

Enjoyable....

Well written, not quite typical.... politics instead of scandal. (more or less). The entire last chapter/epilogue was a complete waste. It was simply a way to drag one issue back into view and dramatize it's conclusion quickly. As a result the 'walk away' feeling that comes at the end of a book was muddled and confused instead of solid and satisfying.

NARRATOR: Tim Campbell is my ALL TIME FAVORITE MALE narrator!! I love listening to him so much that it raises my opinion of what I'm listening to.

HEAT FACTOR: Not hot.... but very warm.

Wonderful read..

I wasnt looking for anything all that good with this book but I really, really enjoyed it. I like stories where the hero is cold and unfeeling because of the way he was raised by a cold and ruthless father, THEN meets the heroine and slowly becomes confused over his feelings for her. And, all the while, having spies and traitorous members of the ton running amuck.

I liked Arabella and Justin a lot. One reviewer said it was too "depressing" for her, but even though I found it sad because of Arabellas family problems I didnt find it depressing because I knew our fearless hero would come to her rescue, and boy, did he. Justin was awesome. Jude, on the other hand, was more than a little weird , which was understandable considering how and where he was raised. The author even made the king, Prinny, disgusting. BUT Davenport and Audrey were great secondary characters. And the secret about Arabella was amazing.

I can honestly say I did not skip one page in this book, thats how much I enjoyed it. A romance with something more than 300 or 400 pages of angst and misunderstandings going on. Its getting nearly impossible for me to read a silly nothing-but romance anymore.

There really wasnt any sexual tension in this story but the wanting and the desire was simply wonderful. There was no talk of an erection or turgid nipples but what was written was so much better.

Very good book. Another author stole the cover picture and storyline. Is that allowed in the US?

I realized this when I saw Hope Sinclair's book that has the same weird braided/twisted hairdo on the cover picture.

She used the same storyline too: jilted mailorder bride marries store keeper.

Can she get by with stealing Miss Wyatt's cover and storyline?

Such a touching Story!

Winter reminds me of myself. She was afraid of her first husband, I was too. He caused at least two maybe even three of my five miscarriages. I was only 20 when I had to have a complete hysterectomy.

What did he do? Left me alone in the hospital for a month. Then when he picked me up he blamed me for the loss of he babies, he sad I was no good as a wife now that I couldn't have children.

Eventually he ran around with his best friends wife, left and divorced me, had a child with her, but he sure didn't live happily after. I however did!

I was reunited with the man I should have married eight years after we broke up, we married, he adopted my son (whom was my oldest sisters son, the only decent thing my X ever did for me was to allow us to adopt him)

I am so happy Winter finally realized she owed it to herself and her new husband Henry to stand up to her X and move forward to a wonderful life with Henry and their children.

Which scene was your favorite?

Good follow up story, I liked the twist of having a heroine who is not perfect and adoring from the beginning. This book has a little "for adult only" language but it was ok

Historical Western Blend Romance

Jolene is in a widow without anything. Max is a rich rancher and oil tycoon looking for a mother for his young daughter and wife to help him get elected as senator. Jolene answers his ad to become his wife.

The author did a good job on this one. The story line held my interest all the way through. Narrator does a good job with dialect making it easy to follow and distinguish between the characters.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the book and look forward to others by both the author and narrator.

Great historical Novel

What did you like best about this story?

It was a really interesting story line. The story was engaging and the characters were likable too. I especially liked that it did not follow a formula as some books do.

What does Meghan Kelly bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed the voices. A good narrator makes the story come alive.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Western romance with a twist.

I am fortunate because I have a job where I can listen to audio books about 8 hours a day, this book was a very pleasant listen.
