    good start to a series
I liked this first book in the series. I have read a lot of romantic suspense and I think the thing I really liked about it was the author has strong male characters with dangerous occupations and ex military backgrounds and portrayed them as such without every other word being a cuss word or f...ing this and f...ing that. These guys were believeable and very male and dominant guys wothout being crude. My hats off to you Robin P. The narrator was good and I liked the storyline. I will get the next story right away to see which brother is the lead character.
    Romantic Suspense @7.34
Jazz is a female sniper on Jefferson County's SWAT team, she has worked hard to not only get the position but to prove that it was the right choice. Jazz has been running for most of her life, never letting people in - it was one of the main issues between her and her ex-boyfriend, reporter Luke Montgomery. After a successful SWAT mission Luke writes an article about Jazz, catapulting her into the spotlight. Unfortunately Jazz has never quite felt that she fits in, by keeping her distance from her team members she has caused a rift, the rift grows bigger as Luke's article brings an enemy from her past into her present. Jazz has to open up about who she is in order to save those she cares about.
I really enjoyed this one, lots of angst and tension and the characters are intriguing. Like most first in series books it was the secondary characters that kept catching my attention and I can't wait for their turn in the spotlight. The parts that stood out for me where Jazz, having cast a female in a typically male profession and having her succeed was inspirational. The Montgomery family on a whole, I enjoyed the glimpses into their lives an their interactions and Joy. I enjoyed her presence in the story.
I found Emily Durante to be just ok with the delivery of the story. Nick Podehl read one of the other books in the series and he was much better. i hope they stick him in future books.
Having said that I was entertained and overall the book scored a sold 4 stars.
    Amazing story!
This review won't repeat what the story is about or any spoilers!!! That's what the back of the book write up is for...
Lots of great characters with real life history and pain from their pasts. A loving man and then everything that can go wrong, goes wrong for a strong women wirtwirthasecret past.

    Wow!
If you could sum up About that Night in three words, what would they be?
    Smart, hilarious, banter!
What was one of the most memorable moments of About that Night?
He pitches to Twitter for consulting business.
What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    She makes the banter perfect.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
    AUSA vs. Twitter terrorist.
    Any additional comments?
Julie James is a comic genius.
Enjoyable Book - But Not a Romantic Suspense
Where does About that Night rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    Average
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kyle Rhodes - he was just a cool character. Had some really funny lines.
    Any additional comments?
Although I enjoyed this book - I am disappointed that the second and third installments in this series had very little if any real action or suspense in them. The first book was the perfect balance of that and what I anticipated in the second and third books. The second had some action/suspense, but still nothing like the first one. This one - to me - was a straight contemporary romance. So - it makes the series a bit out of balance as far as theme goes. You think if the books is built around FBI/U.S. Attorneys offices that their will be a meaty action/suspense story line in each installment. But sadly - not so much.
Clever plot + serious chemistry = Perfection!
Story - This book has likeable, strong, smart lead characters. The plot has an interesting legal aspect which makes the background story interesting, and the way the characters meet and continue their romance is clever and romantic. They have serious chemistry for each other, which culminates in a couple pretty detailed, steamy episodes in the bedroom. The computer hacking element is a hoot, and so is some of the banter between the characters. My favorite is "Like Bambi taking his first steps"..... it's priceless! I wouldn't change anything about this story. It has everything you could hope for in a romantic novel.
Narrator - Good job. She does mispronounce a couple words, but it doesn't detract from the story.

    My Favorite So Far...
I love this series! Garrett is my favorite so far! He seems like a grumpy, tough guy but he isn't especially when the women are around!!! Again, Harry Berkeley is the PERFECT narrator for this series!!
Hidden Away is a Hidden Treasure
If you could sum up Hidden Away in three words, what would they be?
    Intense, Suspenseful, Romantic
What other book might you compare Hidden Away to and why?
Hidden Away is in a league of its own.
What does Harry Berkeley bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The talented Harry Berkeley brings an added depth and warmth to the story with his characterization.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes
    Any additional comments?
Take one strong man and one slightly bruised woman and Maya Banks gives you another excellent story of love and betrayal. The whole series Id rank with 5 stars so I cant wait for the rest of the audiobooks!
Let's get all her books I love them
Would you listen to Hidden Away again? Why?
Yes I would listen to all of them again. Just a great read with all the twists and action and romance I like to see in books.
    Any additional comments?
I wish they would get the books in order. I read a few an then seen that audible had a couple in there list. They have romance, mystery and action. I love the Kelly men, who wouldn't! I can't wait for audible to get more of Maya Banks books.
    Love Maya Banks!!!
Maya Banks has become my new favorite author. Harry Berkeley did another great job (loved his narration of Whispers in the dark) Hope he does the rest of KGI series. Thanks Audible. Can not wait for Rio and Grace's book on audio.
Caution... You won't want to press stop!!!
Where does Hidden Away rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This book is easily in the top five, if not number 1, of my top audiobooks. I'm a graduate student, so I don't have much time put keep my nose and anything outside of text books. I started buying audio books because since I can't read while driving, or on the bus (because the constant shaking of the book gives me a headache) so I thought listening to audio books would help me get my fiction fix. So in general I just listen on the road, then turn it off until my next outing... NOT WITH THIS ONE. Its 11+ hours long and I've finished it in two days. I listen to it while at home because I'm so stuck on whats gonna happen next. I've got a new fave author to add to my list.
Which character as performed by Harry Berkeley was your favorite?
    Garrett, lol hands down.
Oh and I must also say Harry Berkeley is a VERY TALENTED reader. I generally steer clear of audio books red by men because I'm to distracted by how they attempt and usually fail (in my opinion) to portray the female characters.

Copper Beach- ok story (Paranormal but not arcane)
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I think my biggest problem with this story was that I felt that I was in limbo as to where this story fell. It felt like an arcane book even using the same terms for discribing the paranormal stuff but not once was Arcane mentioned. I had a hard time buying into the cocept that the 2 paranormal worlds could be running parallel, yet be completly oblivious of each other.
SO I would either tie this story back to the arcane series* (are they or aren't they supposed to be running in parallel lines?) or use different terminology to describe the paranormal (because its very distracting to think that there is a branch out paranormal type culture that knows completely nothing about the first yet they all use the same coded terms to describe stuff.)
Because of this issue I had a hard time focusing in on the story... I found myself becoming distracted and missing stuff but not really feeling invested enough in the story to go back to the point I had become distracted. It was kinda disappointing to me because I happen to have every book In the arcane series* under all three names (A Quick, Castle, and Krentz) as well as a good number of her other books either in audio or book format. Her book just before this one (Canyons of night) was pretty good and was suppose to be the start of this new series, so I was really looking forward to this one (THIS WAS NOT ONE OF HER BEST)
What was one of the most memorable moments of Copper Beach?
I don't know maybe the scene on the balcony garden, because they get all involved in the moment only to be brought back to reality by the dog! I could relate because if you have kids (or a dog) you know that they are always interrupting you right when you get to the good part.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I kinda liked the scene in the garage parking lot because it had some funny dialog.

    Publisher's Summary:
Eclipse Bay has grown and flourished on the rugged Oregon coast, where the shore can be rocky and forbidding, full of sharp cliffs and hidden coves. But this small town is also filled with secrets as treacherous as the landscape - and rivalries as fierce as an ocean storm....
Their grandfathers hated each other. Their fathers hated each other. And as the next generation of Hartes and Madisons, Hannah and Rafe are expected to hate each other too. But Hannah Harte - a successful wedding consultant with a skeptical view of marriage - remembers the long-ago night on the beach that revealed Rafe as much more than just "that disreputable Madison boy". And Rafe remembers the heroic gesture that proved Hannah's fierce spirit was stronger than any feud - and saved him from near-certain imprisonment.
Now - reunited by a surprising inheritance after years of living their separate lives - Rafe and Hannah return to Eclipse Bay, and the hostilities that still divide, and bind, their families. And they are discovering something that is at once delightful and deeply disturbing: they don't hate each other. Not at all....
    Members Reviews:
I was surprised to like this book so much!
This is the story of Hannah and Rafe. Their families hated each other and they continued the tradition. They inherit a property together and they discover that they don't hate each other after all. There are many twist and turns on this story and lots of suspense. I could never figure out who the bad guy who was trying to harm Hanna was. I couldn't stop listening to this story and I finished it in 3 days. Usually it takes me about a week.
The narrator did a good job with this story and I look forward to listening to the next book in this series and more books narrated by Joyce Bean.
    Alright
So I was looking for a distraction and this book provided just that. It is a nice listen, nothing too heavy, and even has a light crime mystery angle. The romantic development was nice, not a bodice riper.
    cute story
This was the first book I've read by this author. I enjoyed it and will probably get another of her books. The narrator was pretty good as well.
    loving this series
i really enjoyed this book and am eager to start the next in the series.
    Couldn't feel it
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Maybe a different narrator, but I couldn't get into it.
Has Eclipse Bay turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but I've been a member for 2 years and this is only the second book I couldn't finish.
Would you be willing to try another one of Joyce Beans performances?
    Don't know.
What character would you cut from Eclipse Bay?
Hannah. But I think it was the narrator. Her voice reminded me of the blonde bimbo on Liar Liar.
    Any additional comments?
I just could get into it. I didn't feel the passion.

    Members Reviews:
    Excellent
The combination of the Washington political scene, hunt for a vicious killer and developing personal relationships provides a multi level story which holds one's interest. It may be helpful to listen to the two preceding books since they provide background which supports this book...or consider just the last one Fatal Justice as a start. Each book adds to the richness and complexity of the main characters ...and each gets better and better.
Each book is better than the last!
The third installment in the series, this book is intense as Lt. Samantha Holland goes after the best kept secret in D.C., a high level prostitution ring.
Love this series and I'm anxious to read the next installment.
    Too much romance
No suspense and too little action. This is a romance novel. Besides it is difficult to follow the story. what little there is of a story.
    Another good story
Scandal rocks DC. This makes for an exciting, although troubling, story. A call-girl ring that ultimately leads to murder gives Sam quite a case to solve.
Sam and Nick's relationship still seem a bit too good to be true at times but I'm able to suspend reality for these books. The supporting characters' stories add quite a bit and it's good to get to know them. And what will happen to the new boy in Nick's life? I can see where that's going and it should be good.
There was one annoying thing - at one point the word "deportment" was used instead of "deportation". An editor should have caught that. The narrator does a fine job.
A lighter version of the In Death Series
It took me awhile to get into the book because it reminded me so much of J. D. Robb's In Death series. The book itself is a good book and if you have never read Robb's series it is actual a very good book. I had difficulties mainly because I kept seeing parallels between Force's characters and Robb's characters.
My take away is this - if you have read more than two of Robb's In Death books, you will have a hard time enjoying this series - if you have never read one of the In Death books, this is a good cop drama series.

    Members Reviews:
WOW! I'm so glad I found this one!
I decided to get this during a sale, but it was the hypnotizing voice of Jim Frangione that was the real pull. When I first heard his reading of the JR. Wards "The Black Dagger Brotherhood" I was a little disappointed. However, the more you listen to him the more addicted you become. Now I can't imagine not loving anything he read, even the newspaper! This novel is amazing on it's own, Lori does not disappoint. These men are true men, the kind that will do anything to save a lady or kill the bad guy. They are full of attitude yet kind and gentle all at the same time. My husband listened to a little and just laughed, he said,"guys don't really talk like that." I just smiled back and said,"well, maybe if they did they could get the rewards like these men do!" He listened for more tips after that. :)
What a thrill to have Jim Frangione narrating!
He makes a good story absolutely great. His narrating is sexy and masculine and just perfect for these types of stories. What a surprise to find him reading this new series... instead of one of the boring women that have read Lori Fosters other books. Please keep them coming..... I cant get enough of his wonderful style. Discovered him from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
    Heroine was awful!
What disappointed you about Trace of Fever?
I loved the hero but the heroine was so bad! I think the author wanted her to be tough but she just turned out hateful and bi-polar. One minute she's mad and hateful and then the next she's jumping the guy! I rolled my eyes way too many times.
    Love this series!!
I read the first book, When you Dare. It was the first I had heard of Lori Foster, now I listen to everything she writes, but especially like the "Men who walk the edge of honor" series.
    Totally Consuming Heat and need
    Any additional comments?
Wow soooo good. Trace is all Hot intense male. Jim Frangione narration surrounds and consumes you. Lori Foster has once again grabbed my attention, hauled me into the story and didn't let me go till the very end. I feel totally satisfied in every way. Not one to let a good thing go i have purchased the next book in the series and i'm sure it will be as captivating as the last 2. What an excellent ride. :)

The high-society types of the exclusive Arcane Society would consider Virginia an illusionist, a charlatan, even a criminal. But Owen knows better. Virginias powers are real - and so is the power she exerts over him simply with her presence. And if her abilities can be relied upon in the midst of great danger, they just might be the key to his investigation.

    Same old same old
If you've read any of this batch of Amanda Quick tales, you know exactly what to expect, down to murmured endearments and descriptions of the 'deed' by the self-proclaimed 'woman of the world'. And if you've listened to these books, you probably have Anne Flosnik's voices down pat, as well. And both women, writer and narrator, are professional and competent with their individual crafts, so if you liked them before, you'll probably like this one as well.
    I love this series!
What did you love best about Quicksilver?
I loved finally getting some history on the Sweetwater family.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked Owen's character. He was a good guy who did bad things for a living.
What does Anne Flosnik bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    She brings the dialogue alive.
    Pretty typical, pretty good
I like Amanda Quick and the Arcane series. I like the paranormal concept and ideas of the talants, so I tend not to judge these books harshly even when not great. This one really is pretty good. I didn't have me dying to get back in the car to listen or regretting when I got to a destination and had to stop, but when I was listening, I enjoyed it (I drove 800 miles around AZ on a business trip while listening).
I enjoy some of the clever ideas the author comes up with related to the paranormal talents of the characters. I appreciate that the women tend to be a little bit feisty and that the men appreciate that about the women. While I'm not listening for the sex scenes, I appreciate it if there is some passion there, and in many books this author is a little bit... um, perfunctory. In this book, there was something good between the characters.
Worth the half-price download (or credit) - can't remember how I got this one.
Worst audio book I've ever experienced.
What would have made Quicksilver better?
The voice of the reader is annoying beyond belief. I couldn't get beyond the irritating voice to fully appreciate the author's story. Deeply disappointed.
I really hate the narrator's voice!

    Editorial Reviews:
Striking the perfect balance between military thriller and lusty romance, Breaking the Rules is the perfect audio to get lost in this summer. Suzanne Brockmann reprises the characters of the Gillman clan in the 16th book of her Troubleshooter series. (Havent listened to the first 15? No worries the story stands well on its own.) Navy SEAL Danny Gillman and his estranged sister Eden must put their differences aside when their 15-year-old brother Ben needs to be rescued from his abusive, homophobic, and alcoholic stepfather. Meanwhile, Dannys SEAL teammate (and arch nemesis), Izzy, still holds a flame for his wife Eden, though the two are on the path to divorce, and Danny must work on proving to his girlfriend Jenny that shes the only one for him. But complicated relationships arent the foursomes biggest problem. Bens befriended a young girl named Neesha, who has escaped from an underground prostitution ring and the thugs have set their sights on the Gillmans for answers.
Patrick Lawlor and Renee Raudman narrate this suspenseful love story in turns, taking care not to let the baudy sex scenes become too cliché. Instead of the expected breathy sappiness, they lend a refreshing humor in their tone and pacing. Lawlor shines in the characters of Izzy and Danny, making their emotions tangible. Raudman gets a little over-dramatic at times, drawing out words, which can sometimes come across as whiny, but her performance as little-girl Neesha is spot on vulnerable, tiny, and thoughtful. Both narrators are superb at building suspense and the thrilling climax is worth the wait.
Brockmanns known for her page-turning writing style, and Lawlor and Raudman do the authors words justice. An edge-of-your-seat ride mixed with steamy romantic trysts, this is the perfect novel to listen to poolside.
