Part memoir, part political theology

Michael Wear seems like someone I would really like in person. We share a fairly similar politics. People that I know, that know him, like him. And while he is more than a decade younger than I am, he seems like he has learned much in those years about the way the world works and has managed to not become cynical, but instead has maintained the capacity for hope, while understanding the fallenness of humanity.

Reclaiming Hope is part memoir, part political theology, part history of the Obama presidency. Michael Wear was a young college student when he was attracted to the new young politician on the political landscape. Obama had roared onto the scene in 2004 and by 2007 Michael Wear and worked his way into the campaign. (Obama was my State Rep and then State Senator and then US Senator, so I was aware of him long before many on the national scene. I remember having him as a guest lecturer at one of my grad classes in spring 1998 and talking to him afterward about a problem I was having with my non-profit work. I came home to my wife and announced that Obama was going to be president someday.)

Wear worked on Obamas presidential campaign in faith outreach and then was hired as one of the youngest West Wing staffers in modern history, to work in the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Wear left the West Wing to head up the outreach to faith groups in the 2012 campaign.

Just binged on 3 audio books by Frederick Dodson and have 2 more to listen to also. There is some overlap, but the books individually work to increase understanding of a big picture and where we are in it.

I appreciate his shared experiences, shared research, and his conclusions.

And, also am appreciative of his meditative energetic offerings, which are not only in the books but also on youtube, etc. They do work and are uplifting energy-wise.

Another great book from Fred Dodson

This book features the specifics of hidden realities, sometimes referred to as dimensions and realms. Mind blowing descriptions of the lowest to the highest realms are included along with many other topics not found in Fred's other books. I was fascinated by the book and I am on my third listening. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in the paranormal, metaphysics, levels of energy and psychic powers. I doubt you can find this information easily anywhere else.

For the gullible and lost only!! No intelligence needed!!

This is some real creative story telling. What is really scary is that the author believes he has discovered the meaning of life. This is your first step into worshiping yourself and possibly Satan. This book helps the reader understand how the Universe works, gives simple, clarification on how your thoughts become the things (and events) in your life. IMike uses a question & answer format which anticipates many of your questions & provides the answers to empower the reader with new understanding and tools to create the life you want to live.

Good overview of the greater reality

This book specifically details how things work from the unseen greater reality. If a person has read many books on the greater reality - OBEs, NDEs, reincarnation, the astral and beyond, multi-dimensions, consciousness mind vs. brain, the human experience, earth as a school, etc. - then this book serves as a great summary, providing categorization and salient points.

For someone who hasn't read many books on these topics, this book is also great as an introduction.

Hard hitting direction for sermon preparation

This was an insightful book in helping both the new and the seasoned minister focus on the construction process of an expository sermon. It's concise presentation and scriptural examples on the various methods described were beyond helpful. It may require a double or triple listen in order to absorb all of the nuggets of wise counsel presented but well worth the investment. This is a ministerial must for insertion into your personal library.

This timely book is a great review on why expository preaching is the best and actually only kind of preaching we need. But mainly, it teaches you how to preach. Short but not simplistic. A good, short crash course on expository preaching.

A must read

I went through this book with the Men's Ministry at my church. over 35 of us met every Thursday evening and would go over the chapters together. New. This book is a must-read for any man who wishes to know what it takes to become a better Christian man. this is a very challenging book and will cause you to rethink your Christian Foundation. I had to set aside misconceptions of Christianity that have creeped into the church, and accept the hardcore truth of what God really wants us meant to be.

Thank you Pastor McDonald for coming forward with the truth that we men need to hear. I am a better man for it and will continue to hold this book near and dear as a reference when I find myself failing, as well the body of men that has joined together in unity in our men's group.

I have a paper copy of the book as well, but my job requires a lot of driving, so I found it easy to turn it on and then go back in the evenings and fill out the questions in the book.

Beyond Practical Manly Biblical Counsel

James MacDonald is such a seasoned pastor and like a spiritual grandfather of the faith. Every chapter is the perfect length for a morning devotional. It is a call to arms for all men of faith to grow up and become the godly man God not only intends, but demands of them. The book takes one verse of scripture and unpacks for it a 40 day long tour de force with homework and lifelong application. To be honest, I put it down for a while after the third devotional to read a different book, yet wish I hadn't as I became trapped into some sin that I may have avoided had I finished this text first. It is a must for any man that is serious about growing in their faith.
