Very enjoyable

I could not stop listening to these three books - this being book one of the trilogy. The beginning of this book was a little hard to get into because it's difficult to put everything into context. But as soon as the characters are established it becomes very enjoyable. By the time you get to the end of book one of this trilogy, you won't be able to wait to start on book two and three.

Have worn my iPod all day!

I have really enjoyed this story and most of the narration. I'll admit Dick Hill gets a bit carried away with Hoyt's voice being too sonorous a few times, but he separates the voices very well and only makes the women sound whiny when they actually are according to what's being said. I can't understand how anyone could think of it as boring. I have not read The 7th Sign Trilogy so cannot comment on that. I found this story to be riveting and am going to get the next one right now. Those sales for "first in a series" catch me every time.

If you like paranormal stories of witches, sorcerers, vampires, and shapeshifters, with some violence, romance and a bit of sex (they don't stop at the bedroom door but it doesn't dominate the story), I highly recommend this audiobook.

What have you people been smoking?

This narrator makes the book even better. After listening to these via my public library I actually bought them on Audible. Each character has a different accent, a specific voice and is well performed. Far from being a bland-hum-drum-disappointingly-watered-down-version of just another paranormal romance, it stands out for me in a sea of other wanna-be's. Each book just gets better as the series progresses. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about and believe that either they're high or delusional. Trust me and buy-on my fellow listeners. You won't regret it.

This is one of my most favorite stories ever!! I listen to it or read it several times a year :) They are not stand alone stories and NEED to be read in the proper order. While there is one large main theme throughout, each book does have a couple that is the focus.

This is a tale about the battle for the worlds! An evil Vampire Queen and her army want to take over all the realms and it's up to six people to come together and save ALL! This story contains all of my favorite elements. Vampires, Magic, Witches, Time Travel, Other Realms, Shape Shifters, Love, Battles, Action, Sex, Good vs Evil!!! Follow Hoyt on the journey the Gods have charged him with to save humans in all lands, to gather those meant to help him. Follow their journey as they learn each other, begin to trust the others in their circle and they begin their training to take on the evil vampire army. Yes. As fantastic as Nora Roberts' writing is in this book, Dick Hill made it even better. I've probably read this trilogy 5 or 6 times but listening to it was like experiencing it for the forst time.

What did you like best about this story?

This series has it all - romance, action, and good vs evil. Of course since this is the final book the climax will make you cheer and cry.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

His variety of voices are perfect including the men and women and spanning countries and centuries.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I wouldn't dream of ruining this series for anyone, but there were several moments that moved me including the last 3 chapters of this book.

Here is my review of "Morrigan's Cross", the first book of the trilogy. My review stands for all 3 of the books. I really liked them all.

"I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before I bought this book, as I might have missed out on a very good read. I finished "Morrigan's Cross" (the first book in the Circle trilogy) and couldn't wait to start the second book, to which I am currently listening. I love the paranormal/mythological air of the story, and the coming together of the characters from different times. Yes, as someone pointed out, there is a slight resemblance to the story line in the Sign of 7 trilogy, but only in that a group of characters come together to fight evil; otherwise the story lines are different.

As far as the narrator, Dick Hill, I think he did a fine job and I enjoyed his narration. He does a great Irish brogue (I love Hoyt's voice), and I am able to distinguish the characters' voices with no problem. The comment was made by another reviewer that he made the female voices sound whiny.

it was OK but not great

I got this one on sale so I have to say it was worth what I paid....which wasn't much. I really did like a lot of this book but the whole fairy aspect didn't work for me. The way the fairy manipulates the fate of the lead characters is annoying and a bit strange. The narrator (who is one of my favorite narrators) falls short with this one. Most of his voices were good....some were just plain weird.

I liked the story enough to listen to the second book in the series if it goes on sale. I hope the rest of the series is better because I love highlander stories.

If you loved Gabaldon's Outlander... skip this.

I wanted to like this book, as I have loved Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series (and have reread them over and over) But, this was such a ridiclous book. Over the top corny, predicable cheap thrill romance. I was hugely diapponited.

I'm so in love and I'm SO moving to Scotland!

This is great. Morning doesn't keep the angst going too long like she does in fever. This is a fantastic story. Already having read Fever series, I am thrilled by the mention of the Fae, and the King! And Adam...

Wishing on a star for Hawk. Take me to 16th century any day, I'm from new Orleans!

:) love this book. Not disappointed. I can see why fans who read these first would have trouble getting used to Fever. But we all get addicted in the end....

I' was so addicted to JZB from Fever, I had last book depression... Highlander has made me forget the dear beast, and I'm all about a man in a kilt!!!

As for anyone writing bad things on the narrator, I do not understand! Phil Gigante is the voice of gods. He is so shockingly good in last two fever books, I am sorry he didn't read it all.

This is his first romance novel. Give him a chance!! This man is Jericho Barrons for godsake. ;)

Loved It!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, which probably means I'm a hopeless romantic. Well so be it, there are worse things. I didn't find the book as predictable as others and loved the ending. Were the characters complex, not really, but they weren't one dimensional either.

Spellbinding

This book is excellent! It really pulls you in! I went out and bought all the books by this author and have fallen in love with every character. The fae are described in detail and the suspense, not to mention the hot sex parts, make it unable to pull away. I will be a fan for life.

Wonderful series

KMM has written a wonderfully addictive series. Start with Darkfever and then Blood fever. The next eagerly anticipated book in the series, Faefever, will be out in September. The characters in the "Fever series" are delicious and the narration is superb. Don't miss it if you like fantasy and romance novels.

Books are fantastic, narrator is barely okay

I have to agree with many other reviewers here as to the narrator. She sounds much too old to be MacKayla Lane and what she does to Jericho Barrons is rather unforgiveable. He is described as a large and very vibrant man but she makes him sound like a tiny withered old man. I really wish these would be re-done with other narrators and am looking forward to the final two books where the narrators are different.

Kept me interested

This is a simple book. If you're looking for profound - look elsewhere. It was entertaining and helped my driving time pass - and for that it earned 4 stars. The end had me downloading the next book immediately!

Narrator isn't that good

I would recommend this to a friend if only for the story. The story is great! The narrator isn't really that great though. She pulls you out of the story and anytime that she spoke as the male roles they sounded squeaky and Barrons sounded like he was something from a video game I played as a kid.

Stick with it!

The narrator is completely wrong for this character and unfortunately she sticks around for the first 3 books. Mac, the lead character, is annoying in the beginning but really transforms into someone much more interesting. The real disappointment in this narrators representation of the story is Barrons, which she makes sound like an 80 year old man. Any chemistry that happens between Mac and Barrons comes across a little creepy, instead of hot. That being said, stick with the story. Read the first 3 if you can't handle this narrator but be sure to listen to Dreamfever and Shadowfever. You will be blown away by the 2 narrators and the way they interpret the story.

Who picked the cover for this book?

STORY - Darkfever is an interesting mystery with a supernatural twist. I enjoyed it very much, but the cover is completely misleading. It is NOT a romance and there is basically zero sex. The story is an "easy listen" but with a much better plot than most books I put in that category. It doesn't really come to a conclusion but sets the background for what should be a really good series.

Some reviewers have commented that Mac is a shallow heroine and is overly concerned about her outfits and appearance, but I disagree. She does have a girly aspect to her personality, but it's just character development and I don't think it detracted from the story at all.

NARRATOR - The narrator does a pretty good job but nothing awesome. She performs male voices, Irish and Southern accents convincingly enough.

OVERALL - You will enjoy this book if you are looking for a fairly light supernatural mystery, but you will have to continue hearing the series for a conclusion.

Narration ruins it.

I may have liked this book more if I had read it rather than listened to it. The narrator sounds much older than the protagonist and the southern accent in unbearable.

Good book, Narrator awful!

I have always read how some Narrator's are bad and then listened to that book and not agreed. However, this time listening was like pulling teeth. I couldn't tell which character was which as there was very little tone change per character. It also didn't help that 3 separate Narrator's were chosen to read a trilogy. Next time, please select one Narrator for all 3 books so we can at least keep the character's consistent.

The Hollow

I like the story. The author brought depth to his characters. The characters are warm and alive in the story. The story moves along well in some places you hold your breath because not sure what is going to happen. I like this book because of the various emotions that are displayed in this bring you to the edge of your seat, or make sigh with relief, and love the romance that the author brings in with the six main characters. Especially the two characters who have to work together but rub each other the wrong way. It is very good book. One I enjoyed very much.

Creepy but good

Creepy used to be one of my favorite genres before I somehow wimped out and couldn't take it anymore. But, this one had just enough creep factor without creeping me out. Totally enjoyed this series. Listened to all 3, but got the other two from my local library. I liked Phil Gigante in the first book. I would have preferred the same narrator for all 3. But, it didn't kill the series for me, so I guess it was ok.

Book and story is great, but narrator is not

What made the experience of listening to The Hollow the most enjoyable?

the story is great. I love Nora Roberts books and I also love the supernatural, this book has the best of both worlds.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the mystery of Anne Hawkins, Giles, and Hester's story, along with the suspense of where the group of six falls into their line. The "demon" is also something to wonder about.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She seemed to be reading the story for the first time. Drawing out the first syllable of each sentence as if she were stalling for time to read the emotion supposed to be put into this sentence. It's annoying, and amateur. There are also obvious flubs throughout the reading where she mispronounced or started to say the wrong word, then quickly righted it mid-word.

Love this book, if you haven't been following this story from the beginning, please start with book one. this book is a flawless culmination of Kate Daniels struggle with who she is, and who she was born to be. I laughed, I cried, I got strange looks when grocery shopping. hands down my favorite book in the series. Rene Raudman was a great as usual. Her range of characters never fails to be impressive and consistent. she is the voice of Kate Daniels forever in my mind.

The only thing I can criticize is, this is the second to last book. it makes it all a little bitter sweet. I want so much for these characters to have a HEA, but I will miss them.

Another awesome addition.

So much has happened in this series that I decided to read it all over again from the beginning. I enjoyed this series better the second time around and I have a feeling that in the future I may go back and listen to them all over again. Kate is such a badass, sarcastic character, I just love her. I also love all the side characters and feel like they have become family, messed up and deranged but still family. There is so much adventure and action in this book that it has flown by. I think this series would also appeal to guys. Yes there is romance but it is minimal in the overall scheme of the story. There is a lot happening in this edition, Andrea has her baby and finally Kate and Curran get hitched. Narrator is great, to me she is Kate, she does great distinguishing other characters. I look forward to more book either in this series or in Julie and Derrek's series.

Good storyline continues

Nine books into the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and I continue to enjoy them. The alternate world where the story is set and where Tech and Magic flow in unpredictable waves that change the world dynamic continues to provide a unique and intriguing backdrop for the series. The husband and wife team of Ilona Andrews provide a good mix of action, sarcastic humor, magic and romance. Many of the series favorite characters are back in this story but most of the story concentrates on Kate.

Kate and Curran are within two weeks of their wedding and Kate's father continues his malevolent machinations. This book seemed to be a bit heavy on the romance with the wedding backdrop, but there is plenty of action. In the end, it is a good story and the narration by Renee Raudman is excellent. This book made me fall in love with the series!

***NO SPOILERS***

I saw the title and thought "great, another para/rom same theme and same plots" I was wrong. Thanks to my good friend (thank you JULES for gifting this to me!) I found out how wrong I was. Yes this is a para/rom but it is structured differently than others I have read. It's a bit more mature than others out there and the theme is overall good vs evil literally. It also has a allot of action and suspense and it's funny which I love as well.

I would most definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes paranormal even if your not big on romance because this offers so much more.

Elisabeth Rodgers does an AMAZING job with her narration.

Love! Love! Love Astrid and Ethan!

Down Under is an adventure full of new characters that are crazy, sexy, insane, and hilarious! And OH MY, the sex, and banter between Astrid and Ethan was HOT! Who knew a trip to hell could be so funny!

Jessica Almasy's performance rocked! She captures Astrid's personality and voice perfectly and Ethan's voice.....sexy! Well done!

I never thought I would fall in love with a story that was so "out there" and "insanely funny" but I did. However, some may be turned off by the langue but I'm not easily offended. I feel this story deserves all five stars ~ Great Story, Spot on Performance and just Awesome All Around.

If you love stories on the fun side with snarky, sassy, sexy characters that are over the top, and an unusual plot, this story will not disappoint. It was worth a credit, and the time you will spend laughing will be worth it!

It was such a wonderful and entertaining story!!! I am addicted to her books!!! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to have a good time and laugh a lot!! Kept getting the weirdest stares when I would suddenly belt out a laugh at work!!!

One of my favorites in awhile.

The story was terrific. Timing of events just right. And I loved the narrator. I rarely submit an expanded review but this is worth it. And I go through a lot of stories, frequently purchasing several a month.
