Addicted to the series, but leaves you hanging...
I read this entire series back-to-back so I'm only going to comment on the first book's board.
I'm obsessed with this series. It's definitely addicting...but by the end of the last book I'm still hanging and holding out for some major relationship development of the heroine. The author basically teases you throughout the series. You keep feeling like "Okay, this book will be the one", but then I'm disappointed by the end and left hanging.
The first two books were my favorite, especially book 2. Book 1 was hard to get into at first, because the world and its many casts of people are very difficult to grasp at first. By book 2, the confusion subsides. But book 2 is definitely worth working through the complicated world development of book 1. Book 2 is AMAZING!
I'm in a love/hate relationship with this author. I love her world (Elantra) and I love the characters. I even love the struggles and challenges and the main story lines. There is so much adventure and mystery! On the other side, it's sooooooo wordy!!! You're in the middle of an intense action/climatic scene and I feel like the intensity and build up get overtaken by the wordiness. It's almost like the author starts out on the right path of being wordy to tease and build up your emotions, but then just keeps going and going until you're like, "enough already, just get on with it...I get that the 'word' is complicated" (you'll know what I refer to when you read it - - not a spoiler).
The narrator is great, though! I'm definitely a huge fan of Khristine Hvam! She does a great job with all the character voices, keeping them separate and recognizable without needing to tell us who's speaking. After soooo many books and a building mass of characters, I'm amazed she keeps pulling out new voices.
I'm a critical person, so don't let my negative comments fool you. I definitely loved this whole series and recommend it. Just brace yourself for difficulty establishing the world and its characters at first, and then dealing with climatic wordiness with each book. If you can get past those, you'll really enjoy the action and adventure. Here's hoping the next two books (I read on the author's blog that book 8 will now be split in two because she had too much to say) will focus more on the heroine's relationship/romantic development.

    My new favorite narrator!
After my huge disappointment with the narration of Cole's prequel The Warlord Wants Forever, I was ready to be disappointed again. How wrong I was!
A romance star is born and his name is Robert Petkoff.
I'm not even half way through the audiobook A Hunger Like No Other and I felt compelled to write a review. In this first book in the Immortals After Dark series, many characters are introduced and most are female. This could be a challenge for a male narrator but Petkoff does not disappoint. Each female character I've heard so far is recognizable and distinct. And his characterization of the male lead Lachlain is spot on; his Scottish brogue is smooth and sexy. Timing and pacing is excellent. Petkoff is an accomplished narrator, but this appears to be his first step into the Romance genre. I hope he continues to narrate this series.
    HOLY SHIATE!
SHE HAS AN ARSE MEN SHOULD WRITE SONNETS TOO.
This was a good story. It kept my interest from start to finish. Romance is not my normal genre, but I like to check out different things. I liked this for a couple of reasons. A lot of the book is from the man's perspective and the Valkyries. Valkyries are kick ass warrior women, you don't want to mess with. I thought it was an interesting study in a man's lust. Sometimes women don't understand how much men think about sex and how it affects our everyday actions. At the beginning Lachlain comes off as a real A hole, but by the end, Emmaline is the A hole. She absolutely tortures the guy, leads him on, just to say no at the last minute and he knows her body is wanting him. I lost count of how many times they almost had sex.
NOW SHE BELIEVES I'M A LIAR, PROBABLY BECAUSE I LIED TO HER
The beginning to this is a little confusing on how you should react. Lachlain knows that Emmaline is his mate for life. He has just been tortured for 150 years by vampires. Werewolves and vampires have been at war. Emmaline is a vampire. He is upset that she is his mate, yet he has no choice in the matter. He has waited hundreds of years for her and only her. He expected a big tough she wolf, instead he has this 5'5", 100 hundred pound, spoiled, puny vampire. She does not realize that she is his mate.

    Amazing Series, Amazing Narrator!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't get enough of of this series! I've listened to the entire series about 4 times now and continue to go back for more. It has everything...action, romance and comedy! The narrator is fantastic! Wish she narrated everything I listened to!
    Tavia Gilbert has ruined me!
Jeaniene Frost delivers once again. I love how Frost has continued to develop the relationship between Cat and Bones. It's nice to see a character grow and change, but it's even better when that character is self aware enough to realize the change.
I do have one problem with all of the stories in the Night Huntress World and that is Tavia Gilbert. Her reading is so well done that she sets a high bar for other narrators. Each and every character has a unique voice, even as the universe expands. The only other narration that comes close is that of the Lords of the Underworld series. I'd give her performance 6 stars if I could.
    Purely Amazing
Without a doubt Frost, one of my favorite authors, didn't disappoint. True romance, supernatural creatures, sexy tasteful love-making scenes, & great action. All the books are a true must read.
    FANTASTIC.
GREAT SERIES. GREAT BOOK. AND WORTH IT. I LIKE THIS STORY LINE BECAUSE THE BAD GUY IS HARDER TO CAPTURE. THIS IS A REALLY GOOD BOOK.
    It NEVER gets old
I love love love this series. Jeaniene Frost is an amazingly talented writer. Her imagery jumps off the page. Tavia Gilbert is one of the best narrators around. She brings the book and the characters to life. Every character is distinct and she puts her all into the performance. Now I have read/listened to all of her Night Huntress books and the story never turns bland or boring. Some authors at least one dull book in the series. I have to say she does not. Every book delivers great story, lots of laughs, awesome fight scenes and hot romance. Each book grabs you from the very start and take you for a wild ride. This is a fun series to start and follow.

    Woo Freakin Hoo!
I listen to a TON of paranormal romance audiobooks, and I have to tell you that with few exceptions, I'm left cold. Either the story is too dry and plodding, or the narrator left much to be desired.
This is not the case with this series. I was immediately drawn into the story, and fell in love with the characters. I laughed a lot, teared up a little, and immediately moved on to book 2. Sophie Eastlake did a wonderful job on the narration, and they were a few times I forgot I was listening to just one person reading. I highly recommend this series, and I hope others find it as enjoyable as I!
    I've been beguiled by dragons!
This is a great paranormal romance book. I have no idea what took me so long to finally listen to this one, but sometimes being late to the party is better then never arriving.
This book definitely lives up to all the rave reviews. It has a great mix of romance, adventure, mythical creatures, humor and of course plenty of hot sex. I also enjoyed the supporting cast of characters and the excellent narration.
Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
    Good Fun
I read a lot of paranormal fiction, and was recently thinking that I'd really like for the heroine to not be so awfully tough and gritty. The female heroine in this book was, surprisingly and refreshingly, a real girl. It's not that she wasn't brave when she needed to be. She fought when it was necessary. She was girly enough though to paint her toenails, love good shoes, and be squeamish about the whole idea of killing. Most women aren't Xena Warrior Princess types, and thank goodness, neither was Pia. I found this refreshing in a genre chock full of fearless weapon toting warrior women.
The relationship between Pia and Dragos was well written, as was the book as a whole. The narrator did an excellent job. All in all a great listen.
    Wonderfully Done
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book. I found the leads, Dragos and Pia to have witty interchanges while each tries to figure out and understand the bonding that is happening between them.

    Members Reviews:
    Good not great **Spoilers**
This book was good but not as emotionally satisfying as some of the others. Payne was as advertised. She had that mix of innocence and warrior which is pretty much what I expected from her. Manny was pretty much what I expected too. Loner who doesn't know he's missing anything out of life but suddenly finds his shellan and "Mine." It was a little too quick and I think that's the problem. The pacing on this book is off. The storyline didn't really have time to develop in the week or so the book covers.
Payne's hurt, Manny gives her sexual healing, Manny can't deal with the vampires and Paynes impact on him for like six hours, Payne's kidnapped and rescues herself in one night, Manny finds out he's Butch's half-brother and Manny/Payne have sex, the end. Okay, hard to get invested in that storyline. True.
The best part of the book was V/Butch/Jane. Poor Marissa is barely mentioned except to nod approvingly as Butch goes off to fix V. The emotional dynamic between V/Butch and to some extent Jane is just terrific. Love how Butch knew what to do to help. V and Jane's resolution was satisfying. Love the bond and the humor between them all.
Not enough Blay/Quinn. Ward keeps teasing her readers with this couple. If she continues to tease her readers with will they/won't they for too long with no payoff, nothing she writes is going to be enough to satisfy the people who are invested in the m/m couple. She's already said she can't sell a whole book on these two because her readership won't support it so get on with the novella and give fans of Blay/Quinn a break.
The new guys are interesting. Definitely a hook for future books. Not enough of the other brothers. No Rhage humor, no Phury/Zadist to speak of. The shellans must all be on vacation because I don't remember seeing/hearing anything about them.
Overall a decent read but not one I want to listen too over and over except for the Butch/V parts.
    Ward You Owe Me One--Soon
This is not the best in the series. If you are a fan of the series and loved Phury's installment this is the book for you. This one starts off slow and I can usually deal with that out of Ward. It's a very tedious listen in the beginning.
I am kind of mad at Ward on this one. I gave it a three because for the dedicated fan you can't miss this installment. There is a ton of new information and interesting new characters you might come to love or hate. Overall, it is a must listen. The romance between Payne and Manny is just a convenient backdrop for new and old questions.

Very good start to the series :)
    4 stars
This was a very good story. I've actually read it before (3-4 years ago) and didn't review it then. This time around I listened to the extended audio version of the story but it's been so long since I read the normal version I can't tell the difference. I liked the story and will be continuing the series.
Raven is a american woman that has psychic abilities. She's used her abilities to help the police catch 4 serial killers but at a great cost to her own mind and risking her sanity. Raven goes on vacation to the Carpathian mountains to rest up and recover but finds an unexpected adventure along the way.
Mikhail is a Carpathian male and the prince of his people (there's no king so he's the top dog). Carpathians are born vampires with other abilities like shape shifting (to any form, even mist), magic spells and psychic powers. The males of the Carpathians have a darkness in them and if they don't find their lifemates, they can loss their souls and become evil. Mikhail's people are in dire straights because they don't have many women and the woman that do get pregnant usually give birth to males so their males aren't finding lifemates. Mikhail himself is close to the edge when the story begins.
Raven is in an inn in the Carpathian mountains and she feels a horrible pain being broadcast over psychic wavelengths. The pain is so great that she can't help but reach out to try to sooth whomever it is. Mikhail has been riding close to going evil and thought to meet the sun instead of letting himself go bad. When Raven reaches out to him, he feels hope for the first time and he has to find out who she is. When he does, Mikhail is surprised that she's human but he's sure she's his lifemate. He pulls Raven into his life without her being able to put up much of a protest.

And when a werewolf falls head over haunches in love with you, what are you supposed to do anyway? The rules of dating just got a whole lot more complicated.
    Members Reviews:
Good start to a new series.
This story wasnt as funny as Half-Moon Hollow, but I enjoyed the story. Molly Harper knows how to entertain, without making the story so complex. Its a light read with some chuckles along the way.
This story featured Maureen Mo Duvall-Weinsten moving to Alaska after her fiancé dumped her for no real reason. She wanted a freash start and just picked Alaska to get away from her ex and her hippy parents. She begins working at a saloon and since she is in small town named Grundy, all the local bachelors come sniffing around. Cooper Graham is a local who cant seem to stop coming around Mo, but he keeps saying things to convey his dislike of non-locals. Cooper was like the kindergarten boy who likes a girl, so he pulls her hair, pushes her down and just picks on her. Mo hates that she is attracted to the one man who is mean to her, but then keeps kissing her. To top off, she finds out he is werewolf. Whats a girl to do?
I tried reading this book twice, but couldnt get into. So I tried the audio and narrator Amanda Ronconi brought it to life. She has great voices and she just entertained me the entire book. I think I will keep going with this series, but on audio.
    5 Stars
This was a re-listen for me. I love all things Molly Harper/Amanda Ronconi and this series is a favorite. I love how strong Mo is, she moved to Alaska where she knew no one and she found her place right away. Cooper tried hard to be the jerk but he just isn't. The chemistry between them was great. I love the humor and sarcasm throughout this book. This book leaves me smiling every time I finish it!
Amanda Ronconi is seriously perfect for the sarcastic funny characters in this book. No one else will ever do for a Molly Harper book!
One more time!!! Another GREAT book!!
Molly Harper is a wonderful writer with a sense of humor that is by far the best around!! I learned while listening to her first book, you can't be drinking anything while listening. I made that mistake and spewed soda out of my nose! I have all for books and can't wait for what she will come up with next. Her characters are "real" and full of life. I hope she continues with these characters as well as Jane and crew. I love how she worked Jane's book store into the book. Molly Harper can't write fast enough for me.

This series is addicting!!! Highly recommended. The plot is intricate, characters compelling and narration superb. I often forget that I have not seen these in a movie format because once you begin listening you are immediatly emersed into the world of the night huntress - Thank you Jeaniene Frost for sharing your gift.
    Nearly put me in one!
I found this to be the highest octane ride off all the NH novels including the NHW ones too. The friction between Cat and Bones and the pace of the action had me riveted on the edge of my seat for a large portion of the plot. I enjoy this series immenseley and the peripheral characters have grown to such a degree that this book only enhances our knolwedge and affection of them. There are some fabulous one liners that had me bursting in to laughter. There are as many locations as a Bond film, tonnes of action, romance, and plot twists and turns. The rules are changing and the scope for Cat seems limitless as does Bones' love..
From the audio aspect I would have to lower the rating a little, as mentioned before in earlier NH book reviews, this narrator does not do Bones well. It is the actual accent and mispronounciation of some words that grate often. Over time it has improved a little or I may have gotten used to it. Cat, however, comes to life and I anchor well to her through this narrator. The other characters are fine.
    Fantastic!
I've read the print version of this many times but Tavia's reading makes a powerful book even better. You hear the pain, anquish, heartbreak and the love Cat and Bones have for each other.
This is the best book yet!!!!
This book has been the best of the series in my opinion! It has what the last book was missing, passion, and action from the first page! I absolutely love this series and can hardly wait until the next book is released. Cat and Bones are my favorite lovers/haters/romanitcs/killers I've met so far! I also LOVE the fact that they have used the same narrator on ALL the books. She is good, does good voices and I don't have to adjust to a new reader after every book.
    Great series...
This series is a great mix of action and sensual romance.

    Critic Reviews:
Each successive chapter in Frosts exceptional Night Huntress series adds more complexity, death-defying action, and fiery romance. While expertly deepening Cat and Bones love story, Frost also keeps the plot revelations absorbing and the jeopardy remorseless. In an increasingly rich and vibrant genre, she continues to prove shes a star. (Romantic Times)
A cant-put-down masterpiece thats sexy-hot and a thrill-ride on every page. Im officially addicted to the series. (Gena Showalter, New York Times best-selling author)

My Public Apology To Tavia Gilbert
    Any additional comments?
The book is awesome, if you have read the first 2 (which I highly recommend you do), then you already know it will be an awesome book. But I must say a few words about the narrator first:
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap* Is this thing on? Ok! I would like to take this moment to address a common gripe among those of us who love Jeaniene Frosts Night Huntress books in the audio format: The voice of Bones. Yes, come on ladies (and a few men), you know when you first heard Tavias portrayal of Bones you thought, Ew, no, no, no! The voice is too high for a strong supernatural creature. And the English accent? It sounds like some back-alley sally! Not the sophisticated English accent I expected. Like the majority of you, I couldnt have agreed more. It was not what I expected, and it took a while to get used to and accept the voice of Bones as Bones. My mind imagined him as a dark, mysterious, take-what-he-wants, protector and seducer, but when I heard the voice all I thought was He sounds like a snotty adolescent, low class ahole!
Then I got to First Drop of Crimson a spin off to the Night Huntress Series and COMPLETELY CHANGED MY MIND. After hearing Tavia voice Spade it finally sank in. She gives Spade the voice I wished she had used for Bones. THAT voice is what I wanted to hear. But midway through the book the more I appreciated her portrayal of Spade, the more it made me appreciate her portrayal of Bones. In short, Tavia is a true actress, she sees the inner character not just what will appease the fans. Spade has that deep and sultry voice, soft and reserved, but firm and constant. He is affluent, he was educated, he grew up knowing social graces and etiquette he was taught to speak well.
Bones is the exact opposite. He did not grow up around riches and luxury. He probably had no formal education. He was born to a prostitute, the only skill he had was being a prostitute.

And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. She also loves poetry and animals, but fears children and hates to cook.
    Critic Reviews:
Proving that her first book was no fluke, Frost ratchets up the action and stirs up the suspense big time in her second Night Huntress novel. That said, it's the sizzling passion of her star-crossed lovers that really makes this book a genuine keeper! (Romantic Times)
This series is only getting betterbetween the exciting action scenes and the rekindled romance between Cat and Bones, I did not put this one down until the last page. (Coffee Time Romance)

    Unfinished business - Outstanding
Bones is back! In this excellent extension to book one, it is four year later and Bones has been looking for Cat all that time. Cat on the other hand has become a very efficient vampire killing machine. That is the opening scene on this excellent next novel by Frost. There are two heroes in this novel series so far; Bones and Cat. There are such great reveals in this story, adding more color to Cat's background, you will love it.
I've got used to Tavia Gilbert's voice for Bones. Still not a favorite, but it will do -- I guess. Anyone who likes supernatural will like this book. There are only vampires in this novel series with the occasion ghoul and ghost. Unlike other supernatural series littered with many different types of supernaturals, these two have been focused on vamps only.
I recommend this series. Frost is two for two. I give it a thumbs up for an interesting and additive listen.
    Makes for a Short Commute
So this book was way better than the first. I'm addicted to this series and can't wait to keep going. I loved some of the turns the series took with this installment and there was definitely some stuff there that I wasn't expecting. These books are making for wonderful entertaining on my daily commute. Again, my main complaint is with the voice the narrator uses for Bones. Isn't just not masculine enough. But I do recommend these books for anyone that likes some urban romance. Just beware there are very long and detailed sex scenes in the books.
    Summing it up....
One Foot in the Grave takes place around four years after book one in the Night Huntress series, Halfway to the Grave.
