US law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds but not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes. Then the dream comes true. Heather is flung into a war between predators and protectors of humanity, with the man from her dreams beside her again. Except now that she's awake, she isn't sure that she can trust Ethan or the shadow organization he represents. The US military doesn't trust either of them. But against an onslaught of evil like the one that's coming, it will take everything they have just to survive....

Way to move to the next level!
Wow! Just wow! I waited over a year for this installment, and it was well worth the wait! We get to see the unfolding story of the Immortal Guardian Ethan, and his lady love Heather. There is plenty of action to make you become fully hooked into the story, and may cause you to want to listen in one sitting. That's pretty much what I did! We got to see what has been happening since the last battle with all those rouge vampires, and boy didn't they come back with a vengeance! Thank goodness there are those like Ethan, Seth, Roland, David, and all those kick ass ladies and seconds to put thing to right! Way to go Immortal Guardians! Five star rating all the way in my opinion! Nothing wrong with this book. Absolutely nothing!
    AMAZING STORY!!
Shadow Strike was a great addition to the Immortal Guardians series! It's full of action, suspense and hot romance and I look forward to the next story in the series.

I do love Seth but, I think Aiden is my new favorite! Love, Love his personality and his accent!! The fact he is enlisting help to find a potential gifted one to love him is endearing! I want to hug him :)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was on the edge of my seat because the action in this book is non stop and the twists are just everywhere. I did laugh at the big, tough Immortals trying to figure out what to do with a sweet baby.

    I Wouldn't Recommend It
What disappointed you about The Banished of Muirwood?
It had so much potential -- the concept behind it was awesome. But I found the main character absolutely unbearable. For somebody who prided herself on not crying, she certainly whined and cried a lot throughout the book. And I also just couldn't believe the part of the plot where the king was so ridiculously calloused toward his daughter and queen. It made even less sense that the daughter felt such a strong need to be loyal to him when he was such a jerk to her and such a terrible ruler. I expected the main character to do something more.
What could Jeff Wheeler have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Modify the main character. She's very whiny and overcome with emotion in every single scene. I couldn't stand her. The concept behind the plot was awesome. I just wish the plot were different, or more believable.
How could the performance have been better?
The voice of the main character made her seem hysterical when she said almost anything. When she was happy, she was consumed with emotion and her voice shook. When she was sad, she was consumed with emotion and her voice shook. When she was having even the most mundane conversation, it sounded like she was consumed with emotion and her voice shook. It made it sound very melodramatic.
What character would you cut from The Banished of Muirwood?
The main character. Her place as the main character was fine, but her personality was very unlikable.
    Any additional comments?
I'm not trying to knock the book. Some people will really enjoy this. Authors can't make everyone happy. But if you like series like The Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice & Fire, The Reckoners, Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, The Lightbringer Series, etc., this one probably isn't going to do it for you.
    I love the Muirwood series
    Any additional comments?
I am so very grateful Jeff Wheeler continued this world. I loved the first series, and when it ended, I felt like Lia's story was unfinished, now that I am finally getting closure on her life and learning about her Great, Great Grand-Daughter Mya I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much, it will be interesting to see what Mya's life will turn into now and how she will deal with her struggles to come. Thank you!!!
    Ordinary and unoriginal
The author is not bad, just not good. The story reflects judao-christian philosophies and beliefs, and even steals some names. It is an alternate reality attempting to emulate better books.

    An unexpected and awesome surprise!!!!
Wow. I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book. I can't wait for anything else by this author to be released in audiobook. This is a great paranormal/fantasy romance with great world building and good character development. But what I really liked was the fact that it didn't focus on how broken the main characters were and how much they needed to be fixed, there was no angst over being forced to marry. No stupid decisions by the characters or frustrating plot twists. No drama over psychological scars from their pasts, well not much. It was just a good fantasy with two mainly well adjusted characters learning how to love despite their differences. With all the other new releases in the romance genre lately, this was as refreshing as it was we'll done.
I highly recommend this one and it may actually be a multiple listen for me.
    Something Special...
    Any additional comments?
...and it's right in so many ways.
There's no instant lust in this one, but there is instant chemistry, and a warmth that's not found in every romance. It makes the eventual love even better.
Loved Ildiko and Brishen. Loved to hate Brishen's mother.
The world building is nicely done. Just the right amount of detail to make it real, although I suspect that there are a couple of things that will be fleshed out when needed. This is a tightly written book: no filler to tune out. And the twist at the end is jaw- dropping.
When something special comes out in audio I hold my breath to see what the narration will be like. No worries there: Gabrielle Baker is perfect. I may or may not re-read this, but I will be re-listening to it many, many times.I have the tentative release of book 2 marked on the calendar. Please bring it out on audio and don't change the narrator!
    Was pleasantly surprised....
I saw this and put it in my wishlist for later and now I'm mad that didn't read it sooner. I am a sucker for good romances but find that I get burnt out when I read too many in close succession because the stories just meld into one with the same story just different character names. Radiance stood out like a beam of individual and unique light. I adored the love story in this.

Since the day Lord Dillon earned his spurs, rumors of his savagery on the battlefield have preceded him into every room, stilling tongues and sparking fear. Weary of battle, he wishes only to find a woman he can wed who will approach him not with fear but with the tenderness that has been absent from his life for so long. Yet only the wisewoman seems invariably at ease in his presence.
For seven years Alyssa has been by Lord Dillon's side - counseling him from the shadows, healing him, and staving off the worst of his loneliness. Blessed - or cursed - with gifts that label her a sorceress, she is forced to conceal her youth and the love she harbors for him, leading Dillon and his people to believe she is the same wisewoman who served his father.
All is revealed, however, and passions flare when an enemy threatens Dillon's life and Alyssa sacrifices everything to save him. When Dillon discovers that the wisewoman is far from elderly, he is instantly entranced. And, as he and Alyssa work together to defeat an enemy bent on destroying them both, Dillon will risk anything - even the wrath of his king - to be with her.

    The Story Was Great but.......
The story was great, but after listening to Dianne Duvall advising this story helped inspired her to write the Immortal Guardians series I was hoping to learn how the Gifted Ones, Seth and the others and how they became into existence and their back stories. Seth, Roland, and Marcus were mentioned in the story but played a very small role. I was left with more questions than answers. :-)
I loved the attraction and love Alyssa had for Lord Dillon years prior to there ever being a relationship between them. I also thought it was priceless when Dillon finally was able to see her and all the scars she bore from healing him throughout the years. One of Alyssa's gifts, is to heal; however, sometimes she has to take the injuries onto herself in order to heal the person fully. After that, Dillon was very protective of her and monitored her closely when she healed others.
Again, this was a great fantasy that involved a few "gifted ones" and was an even better love story between Dillon and Alyssa. It definitely has me ready for the next Immortal Guardians story!
For any Dianne Duvall fan, this is an excellent addition to your collection and Kirsten Potter does a great job narrating the story.
    Another Great Begining!
While everyone is talking about Seth and Roland's appearance in this story, they failed to recognize that Marcus and Robert are also in this book. If you have not heard any of the Immortal Guardians, then you will not know who these people are. But that will not take away from this book as Robert is the only one that stays with this book and we have not gotten his whole story yet.
This story takes place in the late 1100's and is the story of Dillion and his sorceress Alyssa. The people fear her, call her Witch, and think she is an old lady. Dillion also thinks she is a old lady until the night she heals him from a mortal injury and almost dies. Then he finds out that she is not the old lady he thought she was and his love for her starts to grow.

The Best One in The Series!
So far, this is my favorite story in the series.
I like these stories because there is a plot and action but they have a lot of steamy romance. However, the other books in the series seemed to have more bad language during these scenes and the male characters had to be dominate. In this story, it was more balanced which has made this my favorite book in the series.
Loved it! Now I just have to wait for the next book!
    Steamy.
Another hot book by Suzanne Wright. The pages were steaming with this book. So if you are a fan of the series pick it up. I still love the first book best, with the third my least favorite. I wish there was a little more action, but for a romance it is great. I love the characters in this book and can't wait for the next couple to have their book, I'm hoping it's Ryan's book. Since it has been awhile since I read the other books and I did need a bit to remember all the characters, but the one I forgot most was Roni (Nick's Sister from book 3) although it came back quickly. I got this book/audio for $5.98 total using the Whispersync feature. Narrator does an awesome job.
    Great series
This is a great series and the narrator is great!
These books are a real treat and well done! This book is as good as the other three and has a great story, well worth a credit,
Tough SHE-wolf with a delicate side rarely exposed
Love this book! I enjoy reading about strong women who can still be female. Often times books are written to make one think women don't need men. This books was written to show women came be dominant without being domineering.
Strength in women can happen without turning into a bitch (no pun intended) and without earning strength through hard living. This author understands different types of women and shows an inner strength that does not stifle the male role but enhances it... I love that!
    Wonderful addition to the series
Within this book you were able to catch up on the lives of both members of the Pheonix and Mercury packs; but it would just whet your appetite to read the series from the beginning if you read this book as a stand alone
A new threat to the packs that must be delt with and awesome to see the ladies have their turn at interrogation and the that battle that followed
Ronnie was a wonderful leading lady and the author did a fantastic job of exploring her psychi would have liked to have seen more on Marcus.

You DON'T change names in book 13... Just saying
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Maybe JF should have discuss the correct pronouction of name BEFORE starting with book 1, you just don't go and change 13 books into the series.
    Any additional comments?
Get the names correct..... I don't care that in book 13 JF finely gets the name correct, MS Ward should have caught them in book 2 & 3 and made the correction then, now we know them as they were in the past books! I hated listening to this book for that reason, I felt I lost story time trying to figure out who the hell was Core?... WTH? There are many name flaws in this book, I also got the kindle version just so I could finish the book. Just bad business not listening to what you put out there before letting people make the purchase, and for this reason I'll be returning book 13 with a heavy heart.
It's like Gigi Birmingham all over...
Those of you who have listened to Kim Harrison's The Hollows Series know what I mean. There's that ONE book in the series that you have to read because you can't listen.
Look, producers of audiobooks need to have the performers consult with the authors prior to recording. I have asked authors specifically about this, and the general consensus is that such interaction is discouraged, which I do not get, but some of them make contact anyway. I LOVE Jim Frangione, really. I LOVE The BDB. Having said that, I do not care if Xcor's name is "supposed" to be pronounced "Core." Seriously. I. DO. NOT. CARE. For several books, he has been "Score," and it is too late to change it. Xhex has been "Zex," and now she's "Hex?" Havers is now Havvers? And WTF, the PRImale is now the "Prim-ollie?" NO NO NO
EVEN IF these pronunciations are correct, per JR Ward, IT IS TOO LATE!!!! She should've said something 6 years ago. This isn't book 2 or 3. If JF and JRW had consulted in the beginning, Prim-ollie might not seem weird to me now, BUT THEY DIDN'T, AND IT DOES, AND CHANGING PRONUNCIATIONS IN THE THIRTEENTH BOOK IS NOT OK. I thought Prim-ollie must be Cormia's title as mate to the Primale. In fact, I spent so much time having internal "WHAT THE? WHY?" conversations that I had to back up regularly because I missed 5 minutes of dialogue here and there.
I LOVE this series. I have listened to every book repeatedly. I even relistened to the first 12 in anticipation of this 13th book coming out, AND I COULD BARELY GET THROUGH IT!! Bottom line: I don't think I CAN listen to this book again. So many pronunciation changes made it way too distracting. KILLS ME, but I think I'm actually returning it because right now I cannot imagine attempting to listen to it again, and usually, I can't wait to hear it again.
BAD DECISION, PENGUIN AUDIO. READ these reviews.

    Members Reviews:
    Sadly disappointing.
As a huge fan of Molly Harper and of the Half Moon Hollow series I jumped on Rebound the first day it was released. If it weren't for Amanda Ronconi's standard-setting brilliant performance I wouldn't have made it through this one. While Harper's plots are usually wonderfully multi-layered with the main plot surrounded and supported by other well-crafted sub-stories, Rebound barely had anything at all. The 'Gigi + Nick' story felt flat and, as a love story... meh. Their pairing made absolutely no sense and the two of them together seriously lacked the chemistry of the couples in the previous books.
Other reviewers have mentioned the issues of character/personality continuity. Believe them. Incongruent actions and responses stopped me in my tracks every time. The biggest example of character inconsistency is Gigi herself. I didn't like this version of her one bit. She came off as a self-centered spoiled air-head - not the smart, snappy, and independent girl that I couldn't wait to read about. Keeping the characters true to themselves would have created opportunities for a much fuller and more satisfying story.
Throughout the book I couldn't shake the notion that I was reading about an older guy with no redeeming features (except his 'man-parts') preying on an impressionable, emotionally needy, and dim-witted young girl. Not the usual Molly Harper fare.
    Alright
I am fond of Molly harper's books but this one was just all right . If this is the first half moon hallow book you have read go back to the others because they are worth it
Another WIN for Harper & Ronconi
The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire is the follow-up to the short I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas.
    First Thought:
Seriously any author that can work in references to Daryl Dixon, Soft Kitty, My Little Pony (especially Rainbow Dash) and Dr Who into a paranormal romance it they not sounded forced is an author you should be reading!
Gigi aka the human, computer geek:
Gigi is the younger sister of Iris from The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires. Gigi was raised in part by Iris after their parents' death. Iris runs a business that works with vampires and now Iris is one herself. So Gigi is no stranger to a life with vampires. In fact being a human has put her in the minority of her little group of friends/family. But Iris doesn't want Gigi to be sucked (no pun intended) into the vampire world. She only wants her little sister to live a normal and safe human life.
But Gigi can't get one, Mr. Tall Blonde and Bitey, off her mind ever since that toe curly kiss they shared when she was home for Christmas break from college. And then there's little thing where she accepted an internship with the Vampire Council. Gigi is now neck-deep in the vampire world.

    SO DANG GOOD!!!
Wowza! This book was so dang good....
Ok... if you have ever read one of my reviews...you know I hate dual narration.... UNLESS it is done like this book... Female reads female parts and male reads male parts... This was so good... but this book had a little something extra that I am just not use too... SOUND EFFECTS!!!!
I must admit at first...I hate it... the birds chirping and the hum of the spaceship was driving me batting...but by chapter two...when someone knocked on the door and you hear the knock first then the narration...well I must admit, it really made this book stand out... I fell in love with it... It was amazing... so kudos for this brilliant version of narration and sound effects...
No on to the review... GRIM... I so want a GRIM... Although he was scarred from a battle he won against 8 other warriors, Grim was looked upon as "not worthy" to mate due to his scars... Oh, did I mention he is KING GRIM... but nope, he got scares so the snoody women of his planet didn't want him. So when Grim has to go find mate(able) Earth women because his brother the emperor's new wife accidentally told of her home planet...Grim is in luck! Play with fire, pay the price
Leila's years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn't learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin...
Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn't like Vlad to feel fear, but he does... for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad's greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him - and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away - Vlad's love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both...

    Snoopy happy dance!
Jeaniene Frost is renowned the world over for her oh-my-god-is-it-hot-in-here scenes, but she can also rock the dark like nobodys business, and readers were reminded of that fact with a vengeance in BOUND BY FLAMES. Graphic torture anyone? Im talking flaying, limb amputation, silver poisoning, starvation, and pseudo rape. This installment was originally intended to be the finale of the NIGHT PRINCE series; however after listening to book 3, I can understand why the author decided to axe that plan. A new super villain has risen, Vlad & Leila didnt get their HEA, and theres still plenty of story left to tell!
Ive had a jumbo crush on Tepesh ever since his character debuted as a secondary in Frosts NIGHT HUNTRESS novels, and its steadily grown into an all out obsession with this spin-off series. He could easily be king of the bad guys if it werent for Mrs. Dracula which makes him the ultimate antihero. We got to see a more vulnerable side to Vlad in this installment while as Leila was all steel and resolve. The balance of power in their relationship has been markedly one-sided until now, so I loved the role reversal, and as expected, the author didnt hold back on the ravishing either. *winks*
Maximus drove me nutso in the best kind of way, and I was happy that Leilas father finally saw reason after his prolonged silent treatment of his daughter. Marty was as primo as always, and my hankering for a Cat & Bones cameo was quenched, although its worth pointing out that their part was somewhat spoiler-y if you havent read UP FROM THE GRAVE yet. Mencheres also popped in to say hi which made my character driven self very jubilant. Youll notice that Im glossing over the plot, and thats because it puts to bed the main story arc, so Im not willing to risk accidentally spilling the beans, but its DA BOMB!
This was my first time listening to a NIGHT PRINCE audiobook, however I was already acquainted with Tavia Gilbert as a narrator, so I had zero quibbles about her performance going in. Her renditions of both of the protagonists were on par with those that I had inside my head prior to her voice taking them over. Im a sucker for accents, and her English (Bones), Romanian (Vlad), and New Orleans (Marie) vernacular left me tickled pink.

    Didn't work for me!
    Listened/Read for Fun (Audible/Hardcover)
    Overall Rating: 2.50
    Story Rating: 2.50
    Character Rating: 2.50
Audio Rating: 5.00 (not part of the overall rating)
Read at your own PERIL! I don't think it is spoilery but that might be because I thought it was a bit predictable, rehashing, and well not that much happened (other than Mac whining--in her head and while _______ <---bit spoilery)
First Thought when Finished: I don't even know where to start on how very disappointed I am with Burned by Karen Marie Moning.
I am going to have to write the review later when I have thought about it a bit. The rating might go up to a 3 but it probably won't.
Rating will not be going up! Still extremely disappointed. If this is the book she wanted to write, then good for her for doing her own thing. It didn't work for me but it wasn't written for me. Anytime I don't like a book, the author should not take it personally!
What you should know that impacted my view of the story:
1: I was a fan of Dani. I liked her fire, will to live, and ability to live with her choices. That character is no longer there. I am not saying how she is no longer there but let's just say that the change/disappearance was
    a)too contrived
    b)a cop-out
    c)not the Dani I adore
2: I don't like Mac. I started out the series liking her but by Shadowfever she was one of the most annoying lead females in UF (to me). I read in an interview that KMM said this was a combo Mac/Dani story--that is BS. This is 90% Mac and it is a LOT of back peddling. It annoyed the heck out of me. Seriously the last quarter of the book drove me insane. Really???? Just UGH!
3: I did love the Nine! In fact, if the next book is going to be told from anyone's POV let's just make it theirs. We can have 1/4 of Lor being Lor. 1/4 of R & B just being themselves, and then 1/4 the rest of them (I would like to get to know them better). The last 1/4 can be spent on the gals if you insist unless of course it is all Mac whining about how she is 23 and can't live her normal fantasy life.
4: I did love Kat and Jo so more of them would not be bad at all. In fact, they are a heck of a lot more interesting now.
5: Nothing FECKING happened! This is my biggest complaint! 3/4 of the book nothing happened. Seriously I kept thinking--oh this is going to lead somewhere---hmmmm nope. The last 1/4 of the book stuff happened but it was pretty predictable. Even that end (she usually is the queen of cliffhangers), if she hadn't put that there--I wouldn't have thought that character was gone. (not saying which or how or anything--read it). This was very much filler. Filler that took years to write? Just felt let down!
Final Thought on the book: I really hope the next book is not such a mess. If it is, I might just skim for things that say Lor and read!
Really, the book was meant for fans that hated Dani and loved Mac. It was really for those that wanted Mac/Barrons to be back in the forefront. If you are those fans then you will freaking love it.
