Not The Worst Story I've Listen To.....

I love looking for new series to read and came across this book on Amazon for $0.00 and was able to purchase the audio version for $1.99. Needless to say, I was not disappointed in my $1.99 purchase.

The fist book in the series has a decent plot, good character development, and I though the author did a good job of creating the "Kindred" warriors and world.

The story kept my attention from the very beginning and held it all the way until the end. The romance was more of an erotica feel and some parts did come across as cheesy. It's a good thing I do not get offended easily from hearing the P**** word a lot :-)!

I've already listened to the second book in this series, and think it was much better story, plot, and characters. (Waiting to see if book three will be available for whispersync.)

* Evangeline has another series called "Born of Darkness" and the first book in that series called "Crimson Debt", was really good.

Virtual reality

What made the experience of listening to Claimed the most enjoyable?

The narrator's voice literally has the range of emotions that Baird and Olivia are feeling. It was as though she was giving a moment by moment account. The passion is what had me . I normally never buy audible book but this was just outstanding!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Claimed?

When Baird sees Olivia, the beautiful beast kindred warrior was just mesmerized by the beautiful woman, that he could be worthy of her.

Which scene was your favorite?

When they finally got together, the sex was both breathing and sensitive and the care he took with her. The fact that he could be gentle and when they were both into the sex was mindblowingly decadent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Baird chose to give himself up to the scourge. I cried and cried, the love that he had was heartbreakingly beautiful.

Any additional comments?

I have to really wonder why I waited so long to read this book/ series that the idea of alien life beyond our round is absolutely enthralling and enticing to be captivated with the unknown. The first book surpasses my expectations of paranormal erotica. The book is so well-written and the character development and the plot is absolutely astounding. The many varieties of kindred has me fascinated.

Title: The Scribe

Format: Unabridged

Length: 9 hrs and 23 mins

Language: English

Release date: 12-16-14

Publisher: Audible Studios

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 794 votes

Publisher's Summary:

Hidden at the crossroads of the world, an ancient race battles to protect humanity, even as it dies from within. Ava Matheson came to Istanbul looking for answers, but others came looking for her. A reckless warrior guards her steps, but will Malachi's own past blind him to the truth of who Ava might be? While ancient forces gather around them, both Ava and Malachi search for answers. Whispering voices. Deadly touch. Their passion should be impossible... or it could be the only thing that will keep them alive.

The Scribe is the first book in the Irin Chronicles, the new paranormal romance series from Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries.

Members Reviews:

Hooked! Enthralling story, exceptional narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Malachi for sure. He was everything a male romantic lead should be: strong, fiercely protective, loving, and mysterious. I would be amiss however to not mention Malachi's loyal friend, Rhys. I am a sucker for Hunter's inclusion of the charmingly adorable though shamelessly flirty English chap. I consider Rhys the reincarnation of Carwyn from Hunter's Elemental Mysteries/World books.

What about Zachary Webbers performance did you like?

In a word: exceptional. I would listen to Zachary Webber read the phone book. I have listened to a lot of audio books and I would say I am biased towards books performed by women. Webber changed my opinion. I was so taken by his performance that I sought out and listened to other books narrated by him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. The pace was great with the attraction and build up of the romance. It was sexy and delivered without being overly graphic. It is nice to read a romance with a captivating story where a couple interludes satisfied without it being about sex, sex, and more sex.

Any additional comments?

I have read Hunter's Elemental Mysteries series. I enjoyed those books, but the Irin Chronicles are my favourite by far. I wish I could forget this book and experience the joy of my first read of The Scribe again.

fantastic new start to a series from Hunter

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to anyone who loves good books, enjoys paranormal stories, and fans of Elizabeth Hunter. The story is captivating; the book blends the paranormal and supernatural with the Old World beauty found in Turkey. It is intriguing and well written. Hunter creates a world that is well developed and you cannot help but be drawn into the beauty of it!

What about Zachary Webbers performance did you like?

The narration was fantastic. The pacing was spot on and the emotion was well portrayed. The switch between different accents was well executed!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was! I would sit in my car, even after arriving to my end destination, so I could listen to a little bit more!

Terrific Listen, Terrific Story

This is an audio book and a superb rendition of a wonderfully creative and developed story. I swear I have a girl crush on Elzabeth Hunter and The Scribe only confirms how much I love her writing. Not only are her mythology, stories and characters crafted with intelligence and it but also I LEARN something every time I read/listen. I keep Wikipedia at the ready at all times so I can look up a name or a place that is not usually seen or heard of.

Members Reviews:

Had me from the start!!!

If you love New Orleans and Fae Fantasy and Hot Hunters you will love this story!

So, so good!

I fell into this book right from the start. I wanted to listen to Wicked all the time. I really liked Ivy, she was brave and kicked butt where ever she went. She had a hard time letting people in, it was hard to connect to her...at times. I also loved Ren. He was a perfect match for Ivy and made the story exceptionally swoon worthy. But I think the story stealer was Tink. He had me cracking up so many times.

I wish it wouldn't have taken me so long to read this book. Everything by Armentrout is amazing, so I should be surprised how much this paranormal romance rocked. I really hope to read/listen to Torn, book two soon, as it recently released.

Predictable but good

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator was excellent. There is no new mythology in this book about the fay but it kept me riveted nonetheless. It was a bit predictable as well. But on the whole a good book. Will definitely read the next part of this story.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! JENNIFER ARMENTROUT NEVER EVER DISAPPOINTS!! I KNOW SOME AUTHORS OF SERIES THAT THE FIRST 1 IS EPIC & THE REST ARE JUST OK BUT NOT JENNIFER....EVERY STORY IS UNIQUE BUT YOU CAN ALSO TELL HER BOOKS APART FROM OTHERS!! I TRULY LOVE HER!!

Naughty talk was ridiculous.

What did you love best about Wicked?

The overall story was pretty good.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Eh...the narration was okay, but thought some of her interpretations, especially Ren's dialogue, were a bit off.

Any additional comments?

The scenes where Ivy and Ren were intimate, and most of Ren's dialogue made me want to both, stab my eardrums, and punch Ren in the throat. Yes, it was that ridiculous. Other than that, the story was solid. I really enjoyed it despite the poorly worded naughty & sweet talk. It would be a 5 star review otherwise.

April is caught between two worlds: One that threatens to bury her dreams and another that could fulfill them. Can she trust the wolf at her door and find the courage to overcome her demons?

Critic Reviews:

"A fractured and reluctant heroine, plus a reticent alpha hero equals an awesome story of choice, retribution and love. Six Months has it all!" (Tamara Rose Blodgett, author of Blood Reign)

Members Reviews:

Overall ~ A Great Story!!

I really love the "shifter" world Dannika Dark has created, and how the characters are more down to earth. They are not all sexy, multimillionaires with lots of toys but more like the average person with issues you can relate to like needing home and car repairs, or personal issues like breaking up with someone or being betrayed.

This story is mainly about April struggling with these types of issues while her relationship with Reno grows. However, her situation goes from bad to worse when loan sharks start coming after her and threatening her over her late grandmother's debt. April ends up making some hard decisions on how to deal with these dangerous loan sharks.

This story has a strong presence of the other Weston Pack members and we get to see more of their personalities which I love.

The thing I liked least about this story was the narration. It's had for me to say anything negative about a narrator because I know it is hard work to be the voice for so many different characters; however, I had to start and stop this story several times because of April's voice; it sounded so depressing.

Overall, I really did enjoy the story and it is worth a credit.

Worth the credit

First let me say I have never written a review even after hundreds of books - this series deserves it! It reminds me of the BDB series ....really great!

This particular book is outstanding...better than the first. I can't wait to get to the next one.

Truly Zero Stars. Immature Love-Triangle

Any additional comments?

The entire book is more about teenagers fighting for attention then anything to do with vampires. Whoever said this is like "Fifty Shades" is entirely wrong. This is pretty PG. That is not why I gave it a low rank. My review is harsh because the story doesn't go anywhere, while the author tries to make everything sound more dramatic than it is.

The perfect book hors-doeuvre

This book left me hungry for more of The Shade vampires. It was a small but delectable story that introduces the listener to a whole new take on the typical vampire genre. Its the perfect sized morsel to build your craving for romance and fantasy.

The narration was outstanding and I have already downloaded book 2.

an engaging story that has a bit of everything

THE SERIES WITH OVER A MILLION BOOKS SOLD

The highly anticipated third book of the A Shade of Vampire series!

"Bella Forrest never ceases to amaze me! ... A Castle of Sand is the best yet, in my opinion... Once I started to read this story I couldn't help but be captivated, the world Bella Forrest has brought to us is EPIC." (Lady Amber's Reviews)

What Sofia has with Derek feels like a sandcastle; temporary and something that the waves of life and time will soon ruin...

Since the return of Gregor Novak, the island has turned several shades darker. His hatred toward Sofia and thirst for fresh blood lead to a brutal war igniting between father and son.

Meanwhile, the hunters are gaining formidable strength and resources by the day; they know that the safety of The Shade hangs entirely on its ability to remain hidden from them.

And a sinister secret lies in wait for Sofia within the bowels of an Egyptian desert ... a secret that threatens to crush her sandcastle much sooner than she could have expected.

Members Reviews:

Ugh. The narrators...

Okay, am I the only person who feels like the girl who voiced Claudia should have voiced Sofia? I can't stand the constant up-ending of every sentence read by Sofia's character. And don't even get me started on Ben... I might just be reading the rest of the series....

Better with each book

The third in the Shade of Vampire series, A Castle of Sand finally got my attention beyond listening to Zachary Webber (I swear he could read the instructions for an enema and I'd listen). The story got some real (pun intended) teeth into it with the solidification of the relationship between Derek and Sofia, Ben's coming to his senses, the intrigue with Sofia's family and the Maslins, the threat to the Shade and direction the next book will go. It has taken my a bit to get used to the cast of narrators but darn, I really like it--adds so much depth to the book and makes it come to life more. I look forward to the next one; it's already downloaded and ready to roll.

Getting better

The beginning of the series was slow but I stuck with it and I'm glad that I did. I can't wait to read the next book.

They fight on

I really love the story line and most of the characters I wish Sofia was a bit more, more together stronger not such a cry baby but all in all I enjoy the books.

Can't wait to get to the next book!

Easy read! Captures the attention and hard to put down! I definitely recommend it for all who enjoy vampire love stories as well as action and a little thriller...

loved it

great narrator, story snd finally something not about a teenager. credit worthy, and worth spending a credit on.

Nice surprise.

I've had this book on my Wishlist for ages and decided to take a leap of faith while on a "book hangover" from the end of a favourite series. WOW am I glad I did! This book had everything that ticks my boxes, excellent story and world building, awesome narrator that does male and female characters well and lots of action. Well worth the credit.

Seven Heaven!!!!!!!

Overall a great read that I would definitely listen to again!

This was a well rounded story with great characters you cannot help but to fall in love with. I look forward to listening to each of their stories and will continue the series.

The only negative was throughout the story there were parts that dragged and the book could have actually been shorter and would have been just as good.

Overall, I am glad I came across this series and will recommend this book to my friends.

Perfect Paranormal Series. LISTEN NOW

What made the experience of listening to Seven Years the most enjoyable?

This review is for the whole series

CHARACTERS- lovable and respectable

STORY- great pacing, romance, action, adventure, kidnappings, mysteries....

SEX- not too much, not too little and well performed

PERFORMANCE- dynamite (and I'm picky).

What about Nicole Pooles performance did you like?

Nicole Poole is a great narrator. I hated her voice for the first 10minutes and at times the recording quality wasn't dynamite, but then a bit further into the book she BLEW ME AWAY. Her male voices are especially great. They are each unique and distinguishable but also not over the top and annoying. Her acting is terrific as well. When I listen I am completely immersed.

Any additional comments?

Dannika Dark makes the paranormal aspects of this story really great. There are a lot of books that explore the dynamics within wolf packs, but she makes the family dynamics in this pack very "real". The alpha males aren't so alpha-y that you want to smack them and say "get over yourself". They respect their women but also are macho in that sexy way you gotta love.

The author also added new types of paranormal characters that I've never heard of before and they really work.

Really enjoyed this book.. Love the voices it really makes a audio book easier and more compelling

awesome

all of the books have been amazing. I am always anxious to get the next one!

Another Amazing Book!

This was an amazing book, left me hanging wanting more just like the ones before it!

My favorite in the series

This is my favorite Audio in the series so far. It answers a lot of questions that Ive had. We learn of the elder and where the vampires originate from. Now that Ben is no longer in the equation as part of the love triangle, the beautiful Emilia is introduced. She is not a character to bring more drama to the story but a critical part to the whole picture. Emilia intrigues Derrick to the point of distraction. She test the conviction of his love for Sofia and the very strength of their bond.

Good, but...

What did you like best about A Shadow of Light? What did you like least?

Well, the frist book of the series was exciting, but on the sequels the story is going to get slow and a little boring. In this forth book, there are some great moments, but there are others no so atractive. On the end of the book, the story gets a little exciting again.

Would you be willing to try another book from Bella Forrest? Why or why not?

Yes, after all, I want to know what will happen after what happen on the final moments of Shadow of Light.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, everyone was great.

Do you think A Shadow of Light needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, because there are questions to be answered.

Excellent series!!

I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series! Bella Forrest has left a wide opening for more adventures to come after this book. I wasn't sure if I would like the books because of the younger sounding narrator. After the first book they flowed very easily for me.
