Excellent Worldbuilding

This was an enjoyable story in an interesting setting. I felt that parts of it could have been fleshed out or explained better, but the excellent worldbuilding made up for that. Recommended for teen fantasy fans.

I decided to expand my monotonous selections of genre and chose The Secrets of Gwenla to bring on a cruise. Iâm a nonfiction and historical fiction sort and always hesitant to experiment but am so happy that I did.

Laurie Pennerâs fantasy was engaging, and I looked forward to every opportunity to read about Julyiah and Delwynâs adventures. I enjoyed snuggling up to my Kindle in various places around the ship to catch another chapter whenever I could.

The first thing I discovered was that I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters were lovable and endearing. My readerâs mind is challenged by allegory and at first was wondering if I was missing something, but then I decided that it was about so many things: the ministry of the Holy Spirit, spiritual warfare, Old Testament characters, etc.

I appreciated the purity of the characters and their loving commitment to one another. The most significant takeaway was the importance of digging deeply and looking for a new and real meaning hidden in institutions or traditions that most people blindly accept.

Love is patient.... Love is tested

I liked the overall storyline but dislike how childish the protagonists often act.... Although, they are still in high-school and with surging hormones and changes I understand it.

I was a little confused about the ending. It was not what I was expecting, and a little sad about how it happened (don't want to spoil here).

The vocal recording is very clear without any background noises. Occasionally I feel there is the wrong emotion used by the author based on characters words but is well done.

Getting better....

These books are written very well, but the narration still does not do credit to the books, I think theses ebooks should be read buy a woman. A male narrator just doesn't bring the ebooks to life. Of course this is just my opinion. But I do read and listen to many many books and ebooks. Just saying......

Turning Plot, but No Real Point

Although the plot turns unexpectedly a number of times, and the author seems to be on the verge of making interesting comments about drugs, relationships, war, and scholarship, ultimately this isn't worth reading. Unfortunately, the book jacket, the reviews and the author give away the main innovation, so by the time you (finally) get there, it's no surprise.

To little Mars and norsemen, to much drug trip

This book is worth reading, but it's verry shallow as far as it's charactors go. The good guy wears a white hat sort of thing. The main charactor Johnsmith (all one word) is a divorced schholar of old english. He looses his job, the right to seen his son, and he starts using drugs. These aren't just ordinary drugs though. They're modern techno-drugs that make you halucinate in a pre-programmed way. Because not having a job is a crime in this future Johnsmith figures he'll be sent off to to the moon instead he goes to mars and manufactures drugs for the prisoners on the moon. He fights rebels on Mars (Where'd they come from? ) and discovers the truth behind his drug induced halucinations. The ending seemed to me to be a wrap it up in 5 minutes attempt that kind of worked. The book is on the high side of mediocrity. It's like Sullivan tried to blend Total Recal with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and pulled off a halfway decent job.
