    More than meets the eye!
Let me just say I have never seen an episode of Phil's television show, and didn't even know much about him in general except for the somewhat recent "scandal" that apparently got him kicked off.
It was because of this, that someone recommended I read this book, so I could learn about him. I was sort of reluctant, but I read it over a few nights. I have to say, I was quite impressed. Not only for his remarkable life, but the writing of Patrick Bunker is great! He has laid the book out fantastically and just draws you into Phil's life with ease.
We learn pretty much all the important aspects of one's life, going all the way back to his birth in a small Louisiana town. Like I mentioned I didn't really know much about him going in so I was quite surprised to find out he was much more than a camo wearing southern man who made a duck call.
He was actually a good football player in school with a shot at the NFL! I think the most appealing part is seeing that good moral family men still exist in today's society.
I can honestly recommend this book to anyone wanting to read about an extraordinary life, and you can rest easy knowing I am not the typical "fanboy" that follows this family on a regular basis.
    Very happy and Inspirational
I've seen many of their episodes and love how they are. What truly astounds me, you will see in this book, they are the genuine people! They don't simply talk with no action, they walk the walk. They don't censure others, they lift everybody around them up. They concoct no excuses, they live the way they accept God needs them as well. They persuade, motivate, and aid others to have an improved life. They have not let money get in there way in life. They are only genuine practical individuals who love God, Family and Ducks. If you want to know the real family and there story read this book.
Enjoy reading stories about the Phil Robertson
Enjoy reading stories about the Phil Robertson. I would not recommend this book. There are others that are much better.

    could be an introduction.
    much too short for book
    too short for biography.
didn't include anything except what could be read on Wikipedia.
ask author for 20 more chapters
$3 for a short summary of some of his career? :(
This really doesn't tell you anything new about Robin Williams. Way too short and brief to spend money on. It said unabridged, but that is hard to imagine.

Actor Vincent Price won acclaim for his performances as a menacing villain in dozens of macabre horror films, such as House of Wax. Less well known, though, is Price's lifelong love of animals, especially his 14-year-old mutt, Joe. From his wife's passion for poodles to film set encounters with all types of creatures, including goats, apes, and camels, Price's life was full of furry, four-legged friends. But it was Joe who truly captured his heart. Intelligent, courageous, and devoted to his owner, Joe was a special dog with a personality all his own.
This touching and light-hearted memoir includes a new introduction by Bill Hader and a preface by Vincent Price's daughter, Victoria.

    Joe boy!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I definitely would! What a fun story about someone who is such a huge public figure sharing his life with a dog. I really enjoyed that Vincent's daughter was the narrator. It made the story more enjoyable.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Book of Joe?
I really laughed at how Joe would go out and about in the neighborhood and he would be gone for so long that another family thought he was a stray and they decided he would be theirs and gave him a name, until Vincent found him and told that family who he really was! Funny!
Have you listened to any of Victoria Prices other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first I have listed to by her.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    I was fine either way.
    Any additional comments?
What a nice treat to read an autobiography of a celebrity that is not all about the human, but more about the pet.

Zero Stars if it were available
What disappointed you about Bruce Lee: His Life and Tips for Success?
This is a poor excuse of a book and shameful to be carried here. It is written by a 10th grader whom has failed the class.
The narrator sounds like a late night infomercial reader; it is hurried, loud, and listenable.
This is not a book and more of a short essay.
What was most disappointing about J.D. Rockefellers story?
poorly written, organized, and researched. A highschooler could have written a better essay.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kevin Theis?
    unlistenable, shouting, and nervous
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Bruce Lee: His Life and Tips for Success?
the whole thing. this is not a book and more like a short essay

Title: The Tragic Secret Life of Jayne Mansfield

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 17 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-02-16
    Publisher: Crossroad Press
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 9 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Having spent 10 years as Jayne Mansfield's press secretary, Raymond Strait knows intimately both the public image and the private person that was Jayne Mansfield. Sitting through hundreds of hours of interviews and private conversations - not only with Jayne but also with her husbands, her lovers, and her children - gave Ray the opportunity to present a revealing portrait of the woman. He records her drive for fame and success and her overpowering need to be loved and to love, needs that led her into numerous affairs with rich and powerful men - including President John F. Kennedy - and with younger men from all walks of life. And he discusses frankly Jayne's ultimately successful plan to become pregnant by Nelson Sardelli because she wanted to have an Italian child.
Known to millions as the consummate sex symbol who rivaled Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield received more press coverage than anyone else in Hollywood. The headlines were often sensational, causing society matrons and Baptist ministers to shake their heads and point their fingers. But under those sensational headlines there was a woman of greater complexity than any reporter could hope to understand. Strait goes below the surface to examine Jayne's emotions and motivations, revealing the truth about her many lovers, her three unsuccessful marriages, her love affair with Mickey Hargitay that lasted to the end, and her battle against and her surrender to alcohol and drugs.

    INTERESTING BIO, BUT, OH...THE READER...BAD!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Meh. Not a prude, but I found it difficult to muster up sympathy for Jayne. Tragic ending, but really a wasted life through drugs and alcohol
What was most disappointing about Raymond Straits story?
I think any disappointments just came knowing that the outcome of this woman's life would end so tragically.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jeffrey Maass performances?
NO! This man does not know how to pronounce words! Pigalle in Paris was "Pig Alley." WTH? Silver lame gown was pronounced "lame" with a long "a" as in crippled! Mamie Van Doren was "Mammy Van Doren!" "Mammy"...as in the old Jolson song! WTF? Isn't there an audio editor? Very annoying.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was curious about her life. Big fan of her daughter. My reaction was sadness because she brought most of this on her self through chemical abuse.

    Publisher's Summary:
Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable, audiobook edition of Six Machine by Chris Gayle, read by Leroy Osei-Bonsu.
'If the ball's there, hit it. Don't worry about what might happen. Play for the glory. Play for the six.' Chris Gayle is the only man to have ever hit a six off the first ball of a Test match. But then producing the impossible is an everyday act for the West Indies legend: the first man to smash an international T20 century, the first to hit a World Cup 200, the fastest century in the history of the game. He has hit twice as many T20 sixes as any other man and scored two Test triple centuries.
All this is delivered with cricket's biggest bat and an even bigger smile. Off the pitch, millions follow him on Instagram and Twitter to catch a glimpse of a globe-trotting life spent in nightclubs as much as nets, hot-tubs as often as helmets and pads. He plays late, parties later, demolishes a king-size pile of pancakes and then strolls out to mangle another hapless bowling attack. But do we really know him?
Do we know what took a shy, skinny kid from a cramped tin-roofed shack in the dusty back streets of Kingston, sharing a bed with three brothers and stealing empty bottles to buy food, to the very top of the cricket world - without losing himself along the way?
Outrageous and utterly original, this unputdowneable memoir will leave you reeling. Welcome to the world of the Six Machine.

    Publisher: Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 13 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Peter Garrett's life so far has been deeply felt and fully and passionately lived. A man of boundless energy, compassion, fierce intelligence and a questing and creative spirit, he has already achieved enough to fill several lives.
From his idyllic childhood growing up in the northern suburbs of Sydney to the devastating early loss of his parents; from the height of 1960s culture shock at ANU to fronting iconic Australian band Midnight Oil; from his time as a galvanising activist for the environment to being the only unaligned Cabinet Minister in two Labor governments, Garrett has an extraordinary story to tell.
He talks movingly about his lifelong mission to protect the environment and champion indigenous communities and issues, about his love for his family and his passion for our country: what it means to him and what it can become.
Provocative, entertaining, impassioned and inspiring, this memoir goes to the heart and soul of a remarkable Australian and raises questions crucial to us all.

    Honest & fascinating
I've grown up with the Oils & enjoyed seeing them live in Sydney venues when the pub scene was alive & well. I've always agreed with Peter's political stances & backed him when he was with the NDP. I was shocked & felt betrayed when he joined the Labor party & not the Greens. But now I get it.
Fascinating, honest look at how politics runs in Australia now - depressing stuff. Wish he'd stayed in politics but for his own sake I'm glad he got out.
Great hearing so much info & background about the Oils too.
I highly recommend this book. Peter's strong ethics & morals & his drive for positive change, especially regarding our Aboriginal community, is inspiring. Doris is a lucky woman.
    Thanks Pete!
Engaging story by a passionate man
Great book. I grew up with the music of Midnight Oil and my memories of Peter are the bigger than life front man singing his heart out. Autobiographies read by the author are always the best and this is no exception. There's something special about sitting back and listening to someone tell you their own story in their own words.
Unlike some bios that can spend a long long time dealing with early years.. this one gets to the "fun stuff" quickly and stays there throughout keeping interest levels high.
Having grown up through most of the events in this book it was fascinating to get an insiders perspective and I learnt a lot about the real Peter Garrett and have a far deeper appreciation for the ideals and issues that he has been passionate about for his whole life.
If there was one thing I would have like to hear more about it would be the musical side of the Midnight Oils days. There is plenty in there and the chronology of events is comprehensive. But I really love hearing the nitty gritty details of how songs were written and recorded and the deep dive into musicianship. Then again... this is book about Peter Garrett not a biography of Midnight Oil. So we can't be too hard on that score.
Fantastic book that hits the bullseye dead on in all aspects. Well written, edited and perfect narration. Thanks Pete.
One of the best audio books I have listened to.
I am going to miss hearing Peter's voice and stories every day on the way to and from work.
Peter Garrett is a man of depth and colour.
A meaningful account of a wonderful life.

    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Dan Carter: My Autobiography is the up-close-and-personal memoir of a global icon of sport, a country boy who went on to become rugby's world superstar.
Daniel William Carter is acknowledged as the greatest fly-half to have played international rugby. A veteran of more than 100 Test matches, he is the world record holder for most Test points, has twice been named the IRB's Player of the Year and twice named New Zealand Player of the Year. Legendary unbeaten All Blacks coach Sir Fred Allen, who followed international rugby from the 1920s until after the 2011 Rugby World Cup, had no hesitation in naming Carter as the greatest fly-half he ever saw. Carter, though, is renowned for his modesty and unassuming nature and argues that he has he always "just tried to do the best job I can for the All Blacks".
In Dan Carter: My Autobiography, the great All Blacks pivot with the model good looks opens up for the first time about his stellar 12-year career. He looks back on the myriad highs, including that virtuoso performance against the Lions in the second Test of the 2005 series, when he scored a record 33 points. (The Guardian described the performance as "the definitive fly-half display of the modern era".)
With an equal measure of honesty, he reflects on the lows of his career, speaking frankly of the mental anguish he felt after twice being invalided out of Rugby world cups. He also talks about his unflinching loyalty to the famous black jersey and the reasons why he elected to make a long-term commitment to New Zealand.
