    Well written, very enjoyable.
Of all the autobiographies I've read over the years, I have to say Mary Tamm's has been my favorite. It was apparent from the way she wrote, the way she told the story of her life, that she was naturally a very warm, funny, and brilliant lady. She will be greatly missed.
    Three Stars
    An ok book.

James Herriot's seventh volume of unforgettable memoirs, read by Christopher Timothy.
The war is over, the RAF uniform has been handed in and James Herriot goes back where he ought to be - at work in the dales around Darrowby. Much has changed, but the blunt-spoken Yorkshire folk and the host of four-legged patients are still the same. So is their vet, who doesn't yet know that literary success is just around the corner....

    Good easy listening.
Herriot books are so easy to listen to with all the anecdotes. His books are well read and are amusing in parts and a little sad in others. Now in the 21 century it is a story of a way of life that is over, the slow pace of pre-war and post war English life. Lovely.
    why so much missing??

    Title: Drinking with George
Subtitle: A Barstool Professional's Guide to Beer

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 4 hrs and 14 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-20-09
    Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 36 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
George Wendt and beer have shared a lot over the years: good times, great stories, useless trivia, and a successful show business career. In Drinking with George, Wendt invites readers to crack open a cold one and pull up a seat at the bar as he celebrates the indelible, intoxicating beverage.
Through personal stories and fascinating facts, Wendt delivers an ode to beer and all its irresistible peculiarities. In between spinning hilarious and frank tales of his own imbibing adventures -- from taking a first sip of his grandfather's Bud as a child in Chicago to a beer-fueled impromptu performance with Woody Harrelson and the U.S. Women's Synchronized Swimming Team -- he leaves no stone unturned in his quest to reveal and relish every detail about his favorite beverage.
What's the real difference between lager, stout, and ale? How do you convert your lady into a beer-lover? How many different ways are there to say "drunk"? What do you do when your beer is warm and you want to drink it now? Wendt answers all of these questions and more as he explores the vast cultural history of brews and tackles basic bar theory.
The next best thing to a barstool and a pint, Drinking with George is all the fun -- without the hangover.

    Worst Audio Book Ever!!!!!
Wow, that was absolutely horrible. For some reason I thought this was going to be a book about beer. After all, the title is "A Barstool Professional's Guide to Beer". I always liked George (Norm) from Cheers, and I love beer, so I was eager to learn about beer (history, brewing, types, manufacturing etc.) from someone who I thought had gone to "school" on the vast & rich history of beer, I was wrong.
This is a long, dragged out story about all of the stupid things George did while growing up. He tells stories of drinking as a kid, drinking in high school, drinking in college, getting arrested, and buying a keg for his son. These stories are neither unique or all that interesting. More importantly, this is NOT a "Barstool Professional's Guide to Beer".
This is the first audio book that I have not been able to finish. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this book.
    Enjoyable to the last drop
This book may not change the world, but it may just make you feel good about enjoying a couple of brews. Simply a fun, well read, good time. Cheers!
More drinking with George than a guide to beer
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The title. It is more of an autobiography than a guide to beer.
Has Drinking with George turned you off from other books in this genre?
    No
What about George Wendts performance did you like?
He is certainly able to best bring out nuances in his meaning as he wrote the text. I always enjoy this aspect when the author also narrates.

    Author: Chris Evans
    Narrator: Chris Evans

Length: 7 hrs and 3 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-13-09
    Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Limited
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 10 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
The story of how one council estate lad made good, really very good, and survived - just about - to tell the tale....
Chris Evans' extraordinary career has seen him become one of the country's most successful broadcasters and producers and a well-known face in his own right. From his early years on Manchester's Piccadilly radio to Don't Forget Your Toothbrush, The Big Breakfast, and TFI Friday for Channel 4, Chris changed the TV landscape during the '90s. And on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast show and as owner of Virgin Radio, he ushered in the age of the celebrity DJ. His relentless pursuit of success and subversive style were his trademarks.
But then the 'Chris Evans show' and Chris Evans' life became frighteningly interchangeable. The more outlandish the antics, whether on or off screen or air, the better. The celebrity girlfriends and the nights out drinking. Rolling into work late with 7m listeners waiting. For someone who took such pride in his work, what had happened? The country loved him, but what did Chris love? He'd achieved more than any kid who'd left school at 16 with a couple of O'Levels could have dreamed of. So why wasn't he happy?
Chris Evans' autobiography will be an honest and revealing story of how a boy from a Warrington council estate who started work at 13 and held down 20 different jobs by the time he left school became the most widely acclaimed broadcaster of his generation.
From the early death of his father that literally set him to work, to his brief and much publicised marriage to Billie Piper, he will talk frankly about the highs and lows of his, at times, turbulent career and how his drive to succeed impacted his personal life. This will be a fascinating and surprising life story from one of Britain's brightest and boldest pe...

    Comical and informative.
Chris Evans himself in amazing form. For some reason or other I have missed out on listening and viewing Chris over the years. This does not hinder the enjoyment of listening to his amazing background and successes, as well as quite a few screw ups!
Will immediately down load his next book.
    Brilliance, humble, inspirational
Where does It's Not What You Think rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This is one of my top 10 books
Who was your favorite character and why?
Chris Evans himself, he is honest, humble and has a great sense of humor
What does Chris Evans bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Everything, the true geniuneness of it all
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was captivated, smiled all the time!!! Some text were deeper tham others, Chris really understands how to share simple things in live with the listener
    Any additional comments?
Chris is one of my hero's and a great inspiration
Liked it but it stops in a weird place
The publicity blurb says it goes right up to his marriage with Bille Piper but it just stops at his meeting with Richard Branson to buy Virgin
    Good but abridged
A really good listen. Chris Evans is engaging and you really sypathise with him while he describes some of the tough points of his life.
My only complaint is that the book is abridged - you're only really getting the first half or so of the book.

    Narrator: Michael Palin
    Format: Abridged
Length: 4 hrs and 56 mins

    Release date: 09-17-09
    Publisher: Orion Publishing Group Limited
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 11 votes
    Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Celebrities
    Publisher's Summary:
Writing and acting in films and television then took over much of Michael's life, culminating in the smash hit A Fish Called Wanda, in which he played the hapless, stuttering Ken (for which he won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor), and the first of his seven celebrated television journeys for the BBC.
He wrote much of the dialogue and acted in Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits and acted in his next film, Brazil. He co-produced, wrote and played the lead in The Missionary opposite Maggie Smith, who also appeared with him in A Private Function, written by Alan Bennett. For television he wrote East of Ipswich, inspired by his links with Suffolk.
With Terry Jones he updated an earlier volume modestly retitled Dr Flegg's Encyclopaedia of All World Knowledge. His family remains a constant as his and Helen's children enter their teens. The decade - and this volume - ends with the hugely successful Around the World in 80 Days, which sees the start of a new career.

    Really Nice
What made the experience of listening to Halfway To Hollywood the most enjoyable?
A really nice story of Michael Palin and his life for a short time trying to break into Hollywood. Although I never thought he was all that bothered about it. He seemed to be enjoying everything in England too much. Very moving when he mentions his sisters death.
What about Michael Palins performance did you like?
He has a very relaxed way of reading.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I wanted to make it last. I was listening to it in the car.
    Excellent stuff
Like the previous reviewer, I couldn't stop listening to this. I listened to Volume 1 of Michael Palin's Diaries plus several other of his books and I find his narrative and his delivery excellent. Especially here. Very witty, very incisive. Plus, when Michael "imitates" the voices of the people he quotes, it's never overdone; always just the right amount. Well worth listening to. Roll on Volume 3.
Treat yourself ... you will not regret it
Rather than write word after word about how much I enjoyed this audiobook, I will just say that at every opportunity - be it going to bed a little earlier than usual, offering to wash up, allowing longer than usual bath times my children, or washing the car - I listened to this. Funny at times, sad at times, but always leaving the listener wanting more, Michael Palin has yet to fail me with an book he has written. And although I've never seen Monty Python, his writing makes me think I'll enjoy it. Really can't wait for diary number 3.
    Amazing
Riveting throughout. Insightful, funny, sad and sensitive. Anyone with an interest in writing, comedy or self reflection should read.
    wonderful.
As usual, I lose track of all time listening to Micheal Palin's diaries. A great pace, insightful and linked to historical events of the 1980's.
