He lost hope that Jessica would ever be satisfied to settle in rural Pennsylvania and takes comfort in becoming close friends with Katie. However, its not an easy road as Jake is Mennonite and Katie has just been baptized in the Amish faith. Her father forbids them to see each other, intent that his daughter marry an Amish man.

    Narration disappointing
Love this book. I only wish the narrator was someone who researched the culture. Words mispronounched was bad enough but her overly enthusiastic, bubbly tone is very not Amish like and becomes irritating.you have to remind yourself this is Amish fiction. And if you have listened to other Amish books by people that researched the culture, like Beverly Lewis narrators you would understand what I mean.
It makes the book lose it's Amish flavor.this book is better leaving in paper form.
    Awesome!!!
I am sad that I'm finished the series!!! The author "took" me to Bird in Hand!! Bravo!!!!! I will search for more from the author and the narrator!
    Surprising Conclusion
What did you love best about A Season of Love?
I loved the way the author tied up lose ends. Also the way Jake cared for Katie.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the grandmother and her view of life's problems.
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Katie got her Father t admit he was wrng.
If you could take any character from A Season of Love out to dinner, who would it be and why?
It would be the grandmother, such an interesting character.
    Any additional comments?
I have so enjoyed this series. I am so sorry it has to end. I would love to follow the young married lives of the Lizzie, Katie and Lindsey. I am also interested in Jessica and what becomes of her.
The most lightweight of the series
As I have been struggling with a painful injury, sometimes I want something light. I read the previous books in this series, and though they are light, I felt there was some substance to them.
This book featured a young girl named Katie, who felt an immediate and never changing attraction to a Menonite young man who works temporarily at the Kaufmann bakery, doing carpentry work. Though Jake is not Amish, his grandparents are, and he is close to them. He, too, feels the incredible attraction, which never wavers, despite the two being forbidden to spend any time together.
Jake's character is a good one, but Katie is superficial and silly. The conclusion is satisfying if you just want a Happy Ever After solution. Yet, I found the book pat and not as well done as the others. I did not expect great literature, but, as the book was not very expensive, I spent an extra credit on it.

Wow! Great allegory with a captivating story.
My wife talked me into listening to this book. She is a huge Terri Blackstock fan and I'll admit I listened to it for her but I was very impressed. Basically, this is an allegorical story of twin girls who are separated from their home and forced to live in squalor until they choose to return to their adoptive parent that loves them very much and has virtually unlimited resources to care for them. It was a beautiful way to illustrate how we live in the squalor of this world and choose to believe its lies even though Christ offers us a far better alternative. I thought the plot was believable with few exceptions though I did think it may have stretched a bit at the climax. I also found the main characters to be believable and I was able to identify with them. This is by far my favorite Terri Blackstock book.
    good book
love it. the narrator really out did herself. felt like I was there the entire time.
Another Great Book by Terri Blackstock
Terri is a fantastic author, and this book does not disappoint. It pulls you in from the very beginning. Thank you for this story!!!!
    Prodigal Parable Times Two
Clearly written as a biblical comparison to the prodigal son, this modern day parable, is a beautiful, yet at times an extreme example of the poor choices that people make . . . AND a steadfast example of the love of a parent for a child, mirroring God's love for us . . . one must listen with these things in mind . . . with the full knowledge that God NEVER fails . . . and that if we hold on to His promises, we will reap his blessings in due time . . . Amanda, and then Kara and Lizzie suffered innumerable losses . . . years of suffering, unfairness and neglect by the ones who should have loved them most . . . and blinded by that suffering, the twins gave in to despair, and believed the lies of the evil one . . . for a time . . . but, listener, hang on until the end . . . because our Lord always has the last word . . .
OMG EPIC story of enduring love and patience
This was a wonderful book of enduring love, promises kept even when seems impossible, redemption, restoration and the pursuing, faithful love of God.....Must read!

    Narrator: Ray Porter
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 14 hrs and 34 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-27-12
    Publisher: christianaudio.com
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 199 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational
    Publisher's Summary:
This novel of page-turning action and adventure poses the question, "If a society had no knowledge of Christianity, and then a Bible were discovered, what would happen?" Four hundred years after a deadly virus and nuclear war destroyed the modern world, a new and noble civilization emerges. In this kingdom, called Chiveis, snow-capped mountains provide protection, and fields and livestock provide food. The people live medieval-style lives, with almost no knowledge of the "ancient" world. Safe in their natural stronghold, the Chiveisi have everything they need, even their own religion. Christianity has been forgotten--until a young army scout comes across a strange book. With that discovery, this work of speculative fiction takes readers on a journey that encompasses adventure, romance, and the revelation of the one true God.
Through compelling narrative and powerful character development, The Sword speaks to God's goodness, his refusal to tolerate sin, man's need to bow before him, and the eternality and power of his Word. Fantasy and adventure readers will be hooked by this first book in a forthcoming trilogy.

What a Find. I Loved It!
Litfin writes with great imagery, bringing the town and the characters to life. Never having heard of this author, this novel was a refreshing find! Loved it!
    Love it - so engaging
This is such an engaging and well-written fiction book. The author really gave thought to creating this future world and spent time developing the characters so you can connect with them.
I LOVE the narrator. As an actor, I'm the worst critic of these poor people. This is the first narrator that I've actually loved. He does an amazing job subtly introducing new voices for each character and does it convincingly - I could listen to him read anything and I'd enjoy it.
Great book - fun to listen to and a creative way at presenting timeless Truths that make you think. I recommend it!
    EXPECTED GIFT
I found this book by accident and decided to download the story as I had some extra credits, but boy! was this credits well spend! I loved, loved this story and couldn't wait to listen to the rest of the series. A wonderful peace of fiction and I love the name he gave to this country. "Chiveis" It's even more enchanting than Camelot.
    New Author Found and loved
What did you love best about The Sword?
The story line and the detailed facets of which he described the stories.
What other book might you compare The Sword to and why?
HungerGames because of some of the same story lines of destruction and how people deal with them
    Christian influence for once!
While I thought some of the story was cheesy, I really appreciated the Bible influence this book had.

    Unexpected
When I downloaded this book (special offers on the first of a series) I had no idea it was Christian fiction. At first I was a little amazed at how overt the faith of the characters (Tammi, Zack, Vince) are in their beliefs, but it was a wonderful story. I like that even though they are Christians they are still human, misunderstand situations and people's motives, but they always seek guidance. Interestingly, even though they are all believers they don't always agree on what is the right action. The book was very real, reminded me of my workplace and demonstrated how standing up for the right thing, even if it might hurt us personally, has major reward.
It also pointed out how sometime, for the best of reasons, we can misunderstand people's motives and make swift judgments that are just wrong. It reminds me of the trueism that we judge ourselves by our motives and intentions but we more often judge others by their actions without trying to discover their motivations/intentions. Good book!
I am looking for other Robert Whitlow books to download!
Are you willing to stand out for your convictions?
This story is a pleasant adventure. I liked the challenge of being encouraged to not shrink from my convictions at work and in my daily life. Could I be as bold?
Another great story from Robert Whitlow
What made the experience of listening to Deeper Water the most enjoyable?
Great stories by Robert help us raise our faith and belief that God is still speaking to his people today
    Deeper Water Phenomenal Read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would recommend this book. It has everything.Deep Water is a mystery, a love story and a thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. Most importantly you can feel the love of God emanating from the pages. I love the main character and her family,I can't wait to read the sequel!
What other book might you compare Deeper Water to and why?
    ?
What about Suzy Jacksons performance did you like?
    Yes
If you could take any character from Deeper Water out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Tami's Parents are wonderful devout people, that are raising a beautiful family .
Too much background, no suspense or action
What disappointed you about Deeper Water?
After six chapters, this story is still plodding along.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something with more suspense and action
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I don't blame her, the story is tedious.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Deeper Water?
I would condense the background information on the main character into (at most) two chapters.
    Any additional comments?
After reading the reviews on this book, I expected a much more engaging story. I gave it six chapters to pull me into the story, but it's just too tedious to continue.

    Great series
Nicely done. One book from the series easily rolls to the next but you could easily pick up in the middle too.
I love the biblical reference mixed in with a riveting story. Well done.
    Very moving!
Good read or audio; gives insight, wisdom and guidance for a very widespread issue of our day. Good for teens to listen to for warning of the dangers concerning this issue.

Thank you Terri for the lovely series, many Cassandra for you beautiful rendition of the books. May God bless you with many hundred more stories and Cassandra as many hundred narrator opportunities you would like.
    Another Blackstock winner!
The last in the Intevention series, this book is great. I did get a bit tired of Emily trying to do things her own way, especially after all the mistakes she has made. But, it's still a thriller. The ending was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this series!

    Lindsey
Lindsey has lived with her Aunt Rebecca's family since the death of her parents. Unlike her sister, Jessica, Lindsey loved the life. Her mother's best friend fell and broke her leg and had a rod put in. Lindsey goes to help her putting her back in the "English" life. Will she or go back to the Amish way? I love this story and all the Amish books.
    #4 a bit disappointing ...
I love this series and have truly appreciated the fact that Amy keeps so many of this large family members alive throughout this wonderful series.
In this particular book Lindsay struggled with her decision whether she wanted to dedicate herself to the Amish faith or go back to her English roots. After all she had really felt at home the last 4 years (after her mother's death) living with her Aunt and Uncle in the Amish Community surrounded by love ... working in the bakery and having best friends. However, she was being pressured by her older sister, Jessica, who had chosen to go back to the English world .. that there was so much more out there for her. That she was selling herself short if she "only" stayed and worked in the bakery and helped out her family and would become a wife and a mother. She felt so pulled as this was the time for her to join the church .. or not! She also had felt a connection to Matthew .. or was he just a friend? All these decision ... and so many things pulling her at once.
Then her mother's friends that helped out and were so close to her and raised her sister in the English world needed help when her "Aunt" (not really but referenced her this way) Trish fell and broke her leg badly and they needed her help. Of course, her sister was much too busy going on with her life to help her so it fell to Lindsay to interrupt her life and go into the English world and help ... but maybe this was meant to be. We get to explore her struggles of being in the English world but after 4 years of living in the Amish world is she really Amish now? Meanwhile her sister is still pushing and pulling for her to "better" herself!
I think the ending of the book was my disappointment more than anything ... was happy with her decision just felt that it didn't carry it far enough it just kind of ended and that was that ...
