Subtitle: A Kennedy Stern Christian Suspense Novel, Book 3
    Author: Alana Terry
    Narrator: Keli Douglass
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 41 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-21-16

    Publisher's Summary:
Kennedy Stern and her best friend Reuben drag themselves away from their grueling studies to enjoy a night off campus, but getting pulled over by a belligerent cop isn't in either of their plans.
When the police altercation turns violent, the media notes Reuben's dark skin and labels this instance of police brutality a hate crime. Those Kennedy trusts the most warn her not to get involved, but she owes it to Reuben to pursue justice regardless of the personal cost.
Nothing remains a secret when a frenzied media and an embarrassed police department delve into Kennedy's and Reuben's backgrounds. Some truths, unfortunately, grow increasingly more painful the closer they get to the surface.

    What a powerful book!
This is the kind of Christian wisdom I want to share with my sister who's a new believer; terrible circumstances that make you think and question our society and community morals, pain and heartache that make you want to cry and pray! This book had it all! Brilliantly written and portrayed without telling you how to come to your own conclusions! This book is a conversation starter for today's situations!!
    Thought Provoking
Would you listen to Policed again? Why?
Maybe... It is thought provoking, but generally I don't listen to books more than once.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Policed?
What happens with the video Kennedy takes (but I don't want to give away any spoilers)
What about Keli Douglasss performance did you like?
I wasn't extremely impressed with the narration
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
NO, but it does contain lots of food for thought
    Any additional comments?
Racism, faith struggles, and several other issues are addressed by author Alana Terry in this book. Kennedy, from previous books, is a missionary kid studying at Harvard. Her father, a businessman in China, uses his business as a cover for his missionary work. Although, she spent many years surrounded by young people studying under her father, she has always seemed to be a bit insecure and unsteady in her faith. The current turn of events in her life has her wondering if God even cares, or if He is just far off and too distant to be concerned with the hurting people of our world. How do all these tragedies fit into His plan?
A random stop by a hostile cop on the roadside as Kennedy and her friend Reuben were headed to a play off campus, took a turn for the worse. As both of them are accused of things they didn't do, to cover up the bad cop picture by the police forth, Kennedy has to decide whether she lets the issue go for the sake of peace or does she rise up and take a stand? It's a tough decision, with multiple people encouraging her to just let it go, while others think she should speak out against the wrong done. If vengeance is the Lord's, does that mean He will fix this? And how long will she have to wait while doing nothing?
Alana keeps it stimulating as she draws in the reader with the emotional turmoil going on in Kennedy's mind. You almost feel like it's you going through the inner unrest of the choices that need to be made. There is a ton of food for thought in this book, which is what I like about Alana's writings.

    Members Reviews:
    Another great Fr. Frank mystery!
Fr. Frank is fast becoming one of my favorite sleuths!
When a parishioner, Syd Cranzler, is found dead from an overdose of heart medicine, the police call it suicide and close the case. But Fr. Frank knows his parishioner and suicide is not something the cantankerous Syd Cranzler would do. Fr. Frank's friend and parishioner, Georgia Seitz, agrees and tries to get her sort-of boyfriend, Mike, who is a detective, to get the case reopened. There are plenty of people who wouldn't have minded seeing Syd dead... and Fr. Frank becomes a suspect himself when it's revealed that his parish is a beneficiary of Syd's considerable estate!
The story is well-written and fast-paced, keeping the reader interested and intrigued. My only complaint is the way Georgia badgers Mike for information on the case and then pouts and acts rather unreasonable and uncharitable when he lashes back. In contrast, Fr. Frank's sister, Maggie, is a welcome addition to the cast and I hope to see more of her in the future!
Father Frank is in the middle of trouble again!
James Callan's newest novel Over My Dead Body finds priest, Father Frank, in the middle of trouble once again! If you like a good mystery, if you love intrigue, I highly recommend this book. Did the elderly, cantankerous parishioner commit suicide or was there something more sinister afoot? This book has all the elements of a good mystery. The characters are well rounded with personal touches that help you identify with them. For instance, Father Frank is a Dr. Pepper lover, something dear to my heart! These little nuances give the characters a personal touch and make them come alive. I've read Murder a Cappella, another great mystery by this author, and enjoyed it very much. I look forward to more from James Callan!
and I particularly liked Father Frankâs sister
Drawn in from the opening paragraph, I quickly found myself reading through several chapters before I remembered I had been planning on just peeking at the story before going to bed early. Over My Dead Body is that kind of book, where you donât realize how long youâve been clicking through the pages (I have the Kindle version) because it pulls you from the end of one chapter right into the next. And then itâs hard to stop!
The characters are likable (except for cranky Lance, an unsympathetic brother-in-law to the deceased), and I particularly liked Father Frankâs sister, Maggie.

good unique story. Narrator was not great
it was a good and unique story. I enjoyed it. the only drawback was the narrator. All of his female voices were cold, emotionless, and sounded the exact same, regardless of which character it was or what the situation was.
    Left Wanting
The science was interesting and provides learning for the neophyte. The story predictable. The ending, well, you'll have to find out.
    Not a Good Book
I love science books but this had poor character development and seemed to be too centered on the struggle between science and religion. The main character was eratic and hard to follow. Also the narrator sounded like how I read to my kid.

    Nice story, dreadful narration
Liked story, but attempted more than once to listen all the way through narration. Worst audio reading ever. I know some author's audition narrators to read the stories, why not this one? I would have given the overall rating 4 or 5 stars if the storyteller vwas a good one. Although I really enjoy audio books, I found reading the ebook version of this more enjoyable than listening to it. Thx.
    Crumpets and Cowpies
The worst narrator I have heard. His character voices were awful. Storyline was good, but would be more interesting with a better narrator. P
    Crumpets and Cowpies
Great story, with an awesome narration. I enjoyed this story of change. I recommended this audible book.
    Sweet
This is a sweet story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The narrator can take getting useto.
    Delightful Story
Would you consider the audio edition of Crumpets and Cowpies to be better than the print version?
No, I would not. I had read the print version first and loved it. It is a wonderful story. A story that you don't want to stop reading until you finished. The character development was excellent.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lilly. She is a three year old little girl who brings out her princess personality. She is the most adorable child who could drive one crazy but still love her beyond reason.
Would you listen to another book narrated by John Martin Byrne?
I might depending on the story. He has a clear voice and wonderful dictation. But he also has a deep voice that made listening to the women and children's characters hard. I would have chosen someone with a softer voice for this book.
If you could take any character from Crumpets and Cowpies out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Jemma is a beautiful example of a young woman who adapts with grace to her new situation. Doesn't mean it isn't hard to do but she does it and helps the children to adapt as well. I love the way she never looked down on anyone despite of her social position.
    Any additional comments?
The story is truly a great story full of love. Jemma and Thane love bantering back and forth. I recommend the book for reading.

    Excellent!
I completely enjoyed this story. Excitement from the very beginning to the end. The reader was excellent.
    great book
Was a great book! The reader did a great job & the characters were so interesting. Causes one to think how close we all can be to something like this here in our country.
    I enjoyed this book
What did you love best about Disillusioned?
It was a fairly suspenseful read. I appreciated that there wasn't any foul language in it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Disillusioned?
    The ending.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Nikki's voice was good and Carly Robins did a good job, however, I hated it when she played the male voices. It always sounded like a woman trying to sound like a man and made it hard for me to tell who was speaking in the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    No
    Any additional comments?
Other than wishing they had a male voice for the male parts, I thought it was a good mystery.
    ugh too religious
I wish religious books were more clearly marked. chapter 5 it became so religious that I couldn't go on. the desire to force Christianity down out throats everywhere is frustrating

    Members Reviews:
Book 2 in this legal thriller series is better
Dead Man's Rule has a Chicago lawyer dealing with biological weapons and terrorism in Russia; the effort is too ambitious. Audible rating 3.3 stars; Amazon rating 4.7 stars - I do not understand why. Christopher Lane's narration is superb. Some listeners will object to the strong religious content of this novel. Novel 2 has much less religious content.
Okay story, a bit hard to follow.
Hmmm this was a bit hard to follow along and there were a lot of characters popping in. I thought some of the story was good but kind of got lost in "translation" as so many people had accents from either Germany, Russia, Czechoslovakian and English. A lot of terrorist action going on with a lot of God talk.
There was some interesting court room action and some torture action going on. I did finish the book but only because I had time invested in it and wanted to see how it ended. But it was confusing and hard to follow.
Doubt I will move on with this series.
As for the narration, it was good, especially since there were so many accents going on. Christopher Lane did a good job on the female voices too. He has a nice reading voice.
    Thrilling, the next mission impossible
Ever listened to a faith-based Thriller? You will enjoy every minute wondering what's going to happen next.
Seems like a good idea for a story but
What would have made Dead Man's Rule better?
The story appears to go round and round going no where, I really object to the lawyer praying to God before trial, wife says over and over did you pray to the higher power. If you write Christian books, says so .
Would you ever listen to anything by Rick Acker again?
    No
What about Christopher Lanes performance did you like?
    Constant Christian reference.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    Waste of good money

    Enjoyable
What did you like best about this story?
The special effects and voices by the narrator
What does Sarah Elizabeth Gerstenberg bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    The different voices
Who was the most memorable character of The Tethered World and why?
The leprechaun that they met at the start of the story. He was the first inhabitant that they encountered and was a bit crazy.
    Any additional comments?
The Tethered World is a great book for all ages. It chronicles the journey of Sadie Larcen and her siblings as they enter a new world looking to rescue their parents. I loved seeing the encounters that she had with the inhabitants of this new world, the Tethered World and learning how it all came about. As the journey continues, Sadie not only learns more about this new world, but about herself as well. I enjoyed seeing how she was able to overcome things that she was not comfortable with, but still remained herself. She grew up some, did not change completely. I liked that as some books make the main character seem to do a complete change that is not always believable. I had the pleasure of listening to this on audio book which made it even better. The narrator did a great job on the different voices for the characters and the special effects made you feel like you were a part of the story. I received a copy of the audio book from the publisher to listen to and review.
    Unique, Fun, Clean Family Fantasy
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! Fun adventure, lovable characters, great world building and character development.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Too many to choose one. Sadie is relatable, Sophie is adorable, Brady is brave, Brock is surprising. Still, I'm drawn to quirky old people, so Aunt Jules holds a special place in my heart. Of course, you can't forget all the amazing fantasy characters! The Gnomes are probably my favorite--small, but feisty!
What about Sarah Elizabeth Gerstenbergs performance did you like?
Sarah is the perfect voice for Sadie! She captures Sadie's personality, and even produces different voices for each character. I also loved the addition of sound effects; I haven't come across that very often in audio books, but I thought it was a nice touch.

What did you like best about this story?
The author made the characters seem real.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was a bit annoying because she mispronounced so many of the Deutsch words....for instance, "Die" is not pronounced as the act of dying, but "dee" and it was infuriating every time she used the word. Several times I had to turn the book off because I couldn't deal with it.

I loved the story, but the narration was something else.
    Good read
The story was good, fun and entertaining. I got a little bored with the narrator. She seemed to drag on at times. I will order the rest of the series though.
