    MUST READ
Perhaps not the exact way the Bible tells it, but, wonderful story, and tons of history!
    powerfully thought provoking. Uplifting heartfelt
This my first time listening to christian audio audio book and it did not disappoint.
Brought to life a familiar story
I very much enjoyed how the book was told from a 2 person simultaneous situation. I find it amazing that a new life was brought to the most beautiful but also best know stories of all time. Having to come up with a unique presentation and then a high quality telling of the greatest story ever told.
    A realistic view
An interesting insight into the events at that time and the effects they had on various people at that time.
Extraordinary telling of a well known event
I will definitely see the movie even though it cannot possibly compare to this book. This was a very interesting telling of the events of the cross. The author explains the creative liberties at the end so the reader/listener should not be critical is perceived inaccuracies.

    Twists like the Appalachian backroads.
You can follow the twists and turns fairly easily in this journey of past invading present, but keep your eyes open... I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Even when you think you know where you're going it's a good idea to hang on and pay attention. I can't wait for the next book!
God, Family and Home Intertwine with Mystery
Interesting characters and a plot with enough twists to keep you guessing!! I enjoyed becoming acquainted with the residents of Buckneck, Virginia. I especially liked the narration of the audio book. Being from the south, I often find narrators southern accents to be laughable. Not so with this book---the accent was served up just right!!! The older ladies accents were thick but it was still believable and is definitely something you will find among the elegant southern lady. It reminded of someone I know!!
If you are looking for a mystery with small town southern hospitality then here's your next read. The story will pull you in from the start. You will be welcomed into the home of the Spencer family where you will be greeted with warmth and cookies fresh from the oven. Tess will take you on a tour of the town as she attempts to keep her friend Miranda safe from danger.
I also liked the double meaning of the title!! An enjoyable read!!!!
Captures the Spirit of West Virginia
Would you consider the audio edition of Miranda Warning to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters are very believable. I am from West Virginia, and I can tell you, this is how folks from here think and behave! I love the colloquialism.
Have you listened to any of Becky Doughtys other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, but I want to!
Who was the most memorable character of Miranda Warning and why?
The most memorable is Tess. She is the main character, but besides that, she has a great personality!
    Any additional comments?
I really love the way Tess thinks! I hope there is a book two very soon!
In the Woods of West Virginia, Danger Lurks
The friendship between Tess and Miranda, a young married woman and a wheelchair-bound older southern lady, is very special. With Tess' mother in jail for selling drugs after Tess' father ran off and left them, Miranda filled a void in her life that no one else could. So when her friend (who is more like a grandmother to her) begins receiving threatening notes, Tess, toting a loaded Glock, feels compelled to find out who is after Miranda . . . and why.

    Genres: Fiction, Religious & Inspirational
    Publisher's Summary:
In the 16th century, Antinous Bellori, a boy of 11, is lost in a dark forest and stumbles upon two glowing beings, one carrying a spear, the other a flaming torch. This event is decisive in Bellori's life, and he thereafter devotes himself to the pursuit and study of angels, the intermediaries of the divine.
Beginning in the Garden of Eden and soaring through to the present, A Time for Everything reimagines pivotal encounters between humans and angels: the glow of the cherubim watching over Eden; the profound love between Cain and Abel despite their differences; Lot's shame in Sodom; Noah's isolation before the flood; Ezekiel tied to his bed, prophesying ferociously; the death of Christ; and the emergence of sensual, mischievous cherubs in the 17th century. Alighting upon these dramatic scenes - from the Bible and beyond - Knausgaard's imagination takes flight: the result is a dazzling display of storytelling at its majestic, spellbinding best. Incorporating and challenging tradition, legend, and the Apocrypha, these penetrating glimpses hazard chilling questions: Can the nature of the divine undergo change, and can the immortal perish?
    Members Reviews:
    Measuring Our Distance from God
"This is an extraordinary tale, and the angels' role in it is not easy to grasp. Traditionally, angels are the link between the divine and the human, at once messengers and the message itself... The angels are action and meaning in one."
-- A Time for Everything, Karl Ove Knausgrd
It really is impossible for me to say how many different ways I loved this novel. It wasn't perfect, certainly. It was messy, and uneven in parts, but it was also strange, strong, addictive and compelling. It was powerful and gentle. It felt like a strange combination of The Red Tent and Wim Wenders' Wings of Desire with hints of Knausgrd's later fictionalized memoirs (My Struggle) thrown into the Coda.
Primarily, this novel is a frame story that allows Knausgrd to discuss his fictional 16th-century theologian and philosopher Antinous Bellori, who started writing about angels after an experience in his youth with a couple fallen messengers. The story unfolds as Knausgrd discusses Bellori's Opus 'The Nature of Angels'. This giant work contains an exegesis on all the angels of the Bible. For this book, Knausgrd focuses on four major episodes in the Bible that each, at some level, involve angels:
    1. Cain and Abel
    2. Noah
    3. Lot and his family
    4. Ezekiel
    5. Christ
It is relevant to note here that this book is a bit of a head fake. The real thrust of this book isn't just angels. Certainly, it is hard to escape angels in this book, but it is just a reason for Knausgrd to get into the weeds and retell these famous Biblical stories/myths using his gift for natural writing and human drama (there is a reason he is often described as the Norwegian Proust, besides his long, long, long books). For Knausgrd, Angels represent a standard to measure our distance from God, or said better, to measure our changing distance from God.
For me, the strongest parts of this novel were the stories of Cain and Abel and Noah and his family. Just those two parts were completely worth my entire time spent on this. They were beautifully rendered anti-myths.

    Medical Error
I enjoyed this book, the mystery kept me wanting to know more !!The narrator was excellent.
    Great storyline!
What did you love best about Medical Error?
Great narration. I'm glad the same narrator is assigned to all 4 books. Can't wait to listen to the last two books!
What did you like best about this story?
    Intrigue, romance, medical terminology.
Who was the most memorable character of Medical Error and why?
    Ross Donovan.
    I loved the story
It was such a complex story that I felt Anna's confusion, and I would never have guessed the bad guy. The narrator-ship was excellent too. And it is awesome to listen to books which include Jesus as Lord.
    Worth reading
Kate did a fantastic job reading the book. The author was satisfactory. The plot was very good. It was well written. My only criticism was that she tended to try to explain basic concepts. I felt like she was targeting a young teen. Basic computer functions and basic ideas were explained. I feel like this book targeted ladies but labored to explain ideas that are familiar to most middle class women. Overall, the book was a solid read.
    Unusually Well Done
What made the experience of listening to Medical Error the most enjoyable?
The story and the reader's expression drew me right in. I felt as if I were there.
What other book might you compare Medical Error to and why?
I've read all of Dr. Mabry's books before this one, and they stand alone in drama, medical background (go figure), and setting.
What about Kate Udalls performance did you like?
Ms. Udall spoke clearly, added emphasis were appropriate, and even used slight accents or variations for each character. This is important, because the written text of Dr. Mabry's books has limited use of "he said," "she said." The narrator has to imply the next speaker.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I'd never listen to more than 8 hours of recording in one sitting. I don't read a book in one sitting. But it was that entertaining.
    Any additional comments?
This is a product I would recommend to anyone.

    Three and a Half Minutes
I have read all of Carolines historical romances and love her style of writing so I was eager to try Three and a Half Minutes even though it is a contemporary romance.
It is a beautifully written story about different types of love, forgiveness and second chances, with a dash of the supernatural. Camille and Gunthers story moved me deeply. When the story came to an end, I found myself sitting with a smile on my face and an uplifted spirit.
Christa Lewis did a remarkable job narrating the story!

    Publisher's Summary:
The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow is the story of an unusual woman, Agnes Sparrow. No longer able or willing to leave her home, where she is cared for by her long-suffering sister Griselda, Agnes has committed her life to the one thing she can do - besides eat. Agnes Sparrow prays, and when Agnes prays, things happen, including major miracles of the cancer- and ulcer-healing variety, along with various minor miracles, not the least of which are the recovery of lost objects and a prize-winning pumpkin. The rural residents of Bright's Pond are so enamored with Agnes they plan to have a sign erected on the interstate that reads, "Welcome to Bright's Pond, Home of Agnes Sparrow". This is something Agnes doesn't want and sends Griselda to fight city hall.
Griselda's petitions are shot down and the sign plans press forward until a stranger comes to town looking for his miracle from Agnes. The truth of Agnes's odd motivation comes out when the town reels after the murder of a beloved community member. How could Agnes allow such evil in their midst? Didn't she know? Well, the prayers of Agnes Sparrow have more to do with Agnes than God. Agnes has been praying to atone for a sin committed when she was a child. After some tense days, the townsfolk, Griselda, and Agnes decide they all need to find their way back to the true source of the miracles - God.

Newspaper Owner Moves To Small Southern Town
I tried this new to me series because it was on a list at my local library for books to read if you liked The Mitford series. This book is set in the south (North Louisiana), focuses on publishing a small town local newspaper and has a varied and believable cast of characters.
To me, the series ended up being very different from the Mitford books. For example, in Gone to Green the author will say they had dinner and occasionally mention the food they ate. However, in Mitford Karon describes the trip to the market, the buying of the food, the preparation, the cooking, the recipes and how it all tasted. The quirkiness, silly antics and detailed love of food from Mitford are missing in Gone to Green.
In addition, I thought at times the degree of change that main character Lois was able to create as an outsider in her new community might have been a bit too quick and easy. That said--I still liked the story. To me the book was a positive listen. Christie turns a sharp eye on local corruption, poverty and community inequality while delivering a message of hope and possibility. This is a strong title in the Religious Inspirational genre. Well written and nicely narrated with an upbeat tone. Maybe not Mitford--but I think Gone to Green stands well on its own.
    Delightful.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Was able to connect with the characters. Enjoyed the storyline and it kept my interest.
    great story, enjoyable narration.
This story kept my attention with likeable characters and realistic plot. highly recommend this book.

Evan having heard these stories of the Bible before listening to this makes them much more inspiring and personable. I will definitely listen to the other books.
    Watch Jesus's Friend Come Alive
Another great book by Karen Kingsbury. This is only the second book I have read by her and I enjoyed the first one just as well. It was titled, " Family of Jesus". Just Beautiful the way Karen makes the friends of Jesus come alive.
