Publisher's Summary:
From National Book Award nominee Laura McNeal comes a gripping, tautly told novel that is at once hopeful and harrowing. Perfect for fans of We Were Liars and Bone Gap.
When Thisbe Locke is last seen standing on the edge of the Coronado Bridge, it looks like there is only one thing to call it. But her sister, Ted, is not convinced. Despite the witnesses and the police reports and the divers and the fact that she was heartbroken about the way things ended with Clay and how she humiliated herself at that party, Thisbe isn't the type of person to end up just an "incident".
While everyone in town prepares to mourn the loss (some more than others), Ted and Fen, the new kid in town, set out to put the pieces together and find her sister.
But if Thisbe didn't jump, what happened up on that bridge?

Choices and the Ramifications of Those Choices
A young girl has made what is, for her, a life choice she deeply regrets. Teens so often view choice as black or white, life or death, and this is exactly what this book explores so well along with the secrecy that teens naturally employ. Young adults excel at keeping parents in the dark, reacting to what they perceive as total failure, trying to deal with their issues alone and often making rash decisions along the way(which can have dire repercussions.) In The Incident on the Bridge, Laura McNeal, has explored these concepts and written an exceptional book. It was engrossing, believable, her character were well rounded and very human and she portrayed the story from multiple points of view.
A cut above most YA fiction
I think I've read all of Laura McNeal's novels and this ranks among her best. Told from a number of perspectives and incorporating interesting and varied stylistic approaches, this book demands your attention and concentration, but the payoff is worth it. I always expect beautiful writing with McNeal, but she may have even surpassed her prose in Dark Water. As an easterner, I wasn't familiar with the setting, but now I feel in could sail the Pacific-or at least as far as Catalina. The central mystery--what happened to Thisbe--keeps the narrative tense and suspenseful, and she captures the uncertainty, angst, and dry, morbid humor of teens without resorting to the emotionally manipulative tricks of many YA authors. A highly recommended read for the summer.
Well written but with disappointing conclusion path
I generally i liked the book very much. The author cleverly revealed pieces of the plot through the narratives of different characters, with chapters devoted to each. The plot kept my interest - wondering how it would be resolved - until he author or kind of abruptly concluded the story in a most dissatisfying manner - almost like she couldn't be bothered to fill in details to make the final chapters a bit more dramatic or at least to have the reader feel the story was completed.
LOVED IT
I loved this book. The writing is gorgeous. The characters are thoughtful, interesting and compelling. The novel is a page-turner. Laura McNeal is a magnificent writer.
Excellent teen novel.
A great book to keep kids interest not bad for adults either. McNeal paints pictures with words.
