A book for the British Steam enthusist

I enjoyed reading the development of the steam engine in Britain from the 18th through the middle of the 20th Centuries. The book discusses why and how the rail system came into being. Locomotive development was the primary reason for reading it. I was not disappointed in the description of the various engine classes and how these classes were numbered and renumbered when new classes were developed.
