The Norwegian Language

The Farsi Persian Language

Persian is the official language of Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. It belongs to the Indo-Iranian group of languages and is spoken worldwide by approximately 75 million people. The author/narrator has such a dry sense of humour. He takes the sting out of some of the surprising things about Welsh for a non-Welsh speaker.

What about Colin Joness performance did you like?

Clear, well-paced, and very good delivery, especially dead pan humour.

I don't know about being moved, but I learned a lot in a very short space of time.

This series of lessons is a mix of the absolute beginner audio from the romanianpod101 site and although the site has lots of nice additional features, this collection is handy for learning on the go as the lessons follow one after another. The teaching is excellent but would be improved by having less of the cultural background and more active practice of the language. This however is a minor quibble as it is extremely interesting. I would recommend both this audio book and membership to the site.

The best book on quickly learning conversational Hindi I've encounterd so far!

Great book, the best I've encountered yet for learning conversational Hindi. It is very broad in scope and includes almost all the practical encounters you are likely to have. It was not well proof read; however, and has a mistake or two that wasn't caught. Still it is so good I choose to purchase the book after having been able to read it for free for a while. It doesn't give you the Devanagari script so you have to go elsewhere for that, but it focuses on actually being able to walk up and talk to people in Hindi, and understand their reply. And order food and drink, knowing the names for them. Also the words for animals and household items, doing school work, complaining about illness, etc. Meant for children of Indian descent raised in English speaking homes, but great for us English speaking adults who want to learn conversational Hindi.

A Most Helpful book!

Hindi Language For Kids And Beginners Speak Hindi Instantly by Shalu Sharma is a well written, helpful guide to learners who are interested in learning a new language whether it be for travel purposes, fun, or curiosity this is the book to start with.

Shalu has organized the book into easy to reference groups starting with the alphabet and ending with basic conversation. She has clues as to how to pronounce the words, and at the end of the book is a link to her website where the reader can go and hear the words in order to make sure they are practicing correct pronunciation. She doesnât throw in any confusing language semantics but strictly sticks to the most spoken words and phrases in the Hindi language.

Namasle (Hello) I just want to say that this book is informative, fun and great for all ages. This is definitely a book that you want to have a copy of to take with you. The information inside would be so helpful when traveling. Shalu has hit on every subject imaginable. By showing words and commonly used phrases the reader is able to learn enough Hindi to get by and to want to learn more. I also love that their is a link to hear the words spoken aloud. By sounding them out they are much easier to learn and remember. The author also leaves a link to e-mail just to be helpful with any problems the reader encounters. Talk about going the extra mile in being helpful. Thanks so much for this great book!
