    Keeps getting better
I enjoyed this book as much as the previous books in the series, maybe even a little more. This series seems to get progressively better. The best thing about this book (and the series) are the characters. Even though this would not be a book I typically go for, the characters really bring the book to life and really make me care about what happens to them. The characters make me want to continue reading the series. I listened to the Audible audio version and had a hard time with the narrator in the first book, but I have finally gotten used to his speech. Its kind of like how one overlooks a certain irritating quirk in a friend because you care for them. This is how I feel about the narrator because I've really come to care about the character.

a very intriguing story, short and concise
This is the first book of a new series called "The Sons of Thunder". I will definitely be listening the rest of the series whenever it comes, because I thoroughly enjoyed "The Son of Nepal".
It's an interesting story set in 1460 in Nepal and the Gobi desert. This is a part of the world that I really know nothing about but the narrator made it seem very familiar. The plot is simple enough with Johannan going on a quest to find a cure for his fiancés blindness. This, however, is not the best thing about this audiobook. What really stood out, was the author's amazing use of descriptive words and phrases, which led to the conjuring of very vivid and marvelous mental imagery. The ride this book takes your imagination on is, to me, the best part about listening this book.
Johannan is a character that you want to root for as he searches for the Great Spirit.
This was a wonderful book to listen and would appeal most to teens and young adults.
    VERY INTERESTING STORY!
Where does The Son of Nepal rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I must admit that 'The Son Of Nepal' is definitely one of my favorite audio books! I was really excited about listening to this book and it was an amazing experience. It could be noticed that the author put a great effort in this book, because it totally attracts your attention. Each chapter was written with enthusiasm and emotions, the descriptions of the scenes are really detailed, so you can feel the emotion. I enjoyed every second of it!
Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character was my favorite because I really like when the plot is centered around the main character. Also the main character has a great personality and that is what I like the most.
What does Kamran R. Khan bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
Kamran. R Khan has an amazingly soft and nice voice and I really enjoyed listening to it. It definitely made me very interested in the story and conveyed the feelings and the emotions in such a lovely way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It definitely was! I was so excited about each next chapter in order to see what will happen with the characters.
    Any additional comments?
I am about to become an English teacher and I am really into literature and books and I must admit this one was very interesting and I highly recommend it to everyone!!
    Literally amazed!
Where does The Son of Nepal rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This book was definitely one of the best I have listened to. What I liked the most in this books are the descriptions provided by the author.

CAUTION â READ WITH THE LIGHTS ON
Thereâs no doubt about it, Pennie Mae Cartawick has a vivid imagination. Her short stories about ghosts from oneâs past that pop up during the most mundane situations we take for granted, gives one pause for thought.
Iâm going to think twice before I catch the train into the city. I admit there can be some weird characters on board, but at least theyâre alive and relatively passive. Not so in Pennieâs world.
And now the bathroom is no longer a safe haven in The Exchange. Iâve no desire for the large mirror in mine to become a transit lane for ghosts with a grudge.
I wonder what else Pennie will come up with in the future?
    A horror in true sense...
Writing a story, with ghost elements has become a dying art. Itâs not easy to justify the otherworldly existence and create a scary, believable story. The emotion of fear often takes a back seat when the plot relies on gluts of blood and gore. The trick is to instil an unseen anxiety and create a sinister apprehension in mind of readers without showing or suggesting, leaving much to their imagination. The more the readers think about it, the creepier the tale becomes.
The two stories presented under the title âGHOST STORIESâ are original, gothic and nightmarish. Particularly the SILENCE BE DAMNED. And those little pictures sketched by the author herself add an extra zest to the spooky settings. This is what real horror all about. I only wish there could be more such stories in the book, that's something to check out in future.
Treat yourself with this little gem.
Satisfyingly creept and ghostly. Fantastic short stories to enjoy. Highly recommended.
I was eager to read these two short stories penned by Pennie Mae Cartawick. Short stories are my book palette cleanser in between long novels, they help me clear my head space and my favourites to read are horror and ghost stories.
I am going to review these two short stories separately as each impacted me differently.
    SILENCE BE DAMNED
I really liked this story, my favourite of the two. Lydia hops on a subway train and steps into all sorts of problems, the creepiness and reveals of what is really going on for her sneaks up on you until you have the whole freaky picture. A supernatural force is in play and it's messing with Lydia hugely. I found this story very cleverly written, creepy, ghostly and entertaining. 4 stars for this one from me.

I received a copy of this book from the Author Lacey Edwards in exchange for an honest review. I will say that I had a hard time getting into her work at first, but now that I am in....I'm all the way in! I really loved this story and will be purchasing the rest of the series at my leisure to enjoy them. My only critique at this point is all the spelling errors throughout the story. It is very distracting and a bit aggravating. But once you get past that you will see that pure magic pours out of Lacey's pen. Great concept, well written (except for spelling errors) and well executed.

    Publisher's Summary:
What if the best night of your life was also your last?
On the eve of a much-anticipated proposal, Meg is happier than she could have ever imagined. The future she sees for herself on that magical night is bright, one that's full of love and laughter and dreams finally realized.
That is, until one random act of violence changes everything.
Consumed by fate and forces she can't comprehend, Meg finds herself at the center of a spectral conflict that transcends life and death.
Her very soul is up for grabs in this war and, what's worse, she's not the only one.
Now, she's fighting not just for the love she lost, but the daughter she would have called her own. She must fight the battle of her life, for the sake of her friends and family, and find out for herself if love can indeed be stronger than death.
Intertwined with true ghost stories, some heart-warming, some heart-breaking, this love note to San Antonio combines history, myth, and vivid description. This is the full story of Meg and Amelinda's quest-journey, what author Laura Metzger calls "a beautifully written story with compelling characters that reach between the universe of the living and the dead to embrace their mutual destiny" and author Elena E. Giorgi calls "a beautiful tale of love and redemption".
    Excerpt:
On the day I died, I was wearing a great outfit. This is important for you to know because it turns out that your default look for eternity as a ghost is what you're wearing when you die. I mean, seriously. Who knew? If I'd have known that, I wouldn't have risked any days in mediocre clothes. In that respect, I was lucky I was on a date when I was killed, but of course, if I hadn't been on a date, on that date, maybe things would have turned out differently.

    Engrossing Magical Realism Read!
One of my favorite genres is Magical Realism. Its difficult genre to write in, so I listened to this book hoping the author could pull it off. Wellshe did!
Author Kim Wells has written an engaging story complete with likable characters. Youll experience awe, fear, love, and wonder while listening. The writer added the right touches to draw me in.
Its not a spoiler to tell you the main character Meg is murdered. It would be a spoiler to tell you why and how. She appears in the rest of this novel as a ghost. I thoroughly enjoyed this original, well-written book.
The narrator of this audio book adds to the enjoyment of the story. Her smooth voice and ability to adapt to the various characters makes this a pleasurable listen.

His resolve is tested when a flyer for a missing girl - who happens to be a summer witch - begins to haunt him. His teenage daughter Emmy resents him for caring so much about a random stranger. But when she uncovers some disturbing evidence close to home, she begins an investigation of her own. David and Emmy quickly learn that the mystery is not only about a missing girl they barely know, but a deeply personal story that impacts everyone they care about. As their world crumbles, they fear the warning may be true - never mess with summer wizards, because the good guys always win.
    Members Reviews:
    interesting characters with complex relationships
David Vandergraff seems to be under a spell to try to find an missing girl. The only problem is that this girl belongs to a family of summer wizards, and David is a winter wizard. Both kinds of wizards have been at war since forever but there is something strange in this situation that makes David try to help Julia's family. In the meantime Amanda, David's wife, is growing weaker and weaker but tries to keep it secret. While both parents are busy with their own problems, their children will discover some clues about the missing girl, making them to take many risks.
The story of the first book was interesting so I wanted to see how it continued on this second book. I found the storyline a bit erratic and the end very anticlimactic. It could also be the issue that Sharon Bayliss constructs interesting characters with complex relationships among them but they lack the spark to make them alive. I enjoyed the dialogs but there was still something missing that prevented me to care for them.
There is quite some action at the beginning and at the end but the story in between is slowly paced and without a clear direction. The end comes very fast, many things not making a lot of sense and, as I have said, it feels anticlimactic after all the build up.
For the rest, I quite enjoyed the book. It is one of those easy listens that can be devoured in a couple of days without being overwhelming. Maybe this is my issue with Bayliss' books. They are just too easy, they come and go, but do not really leave anything behind on me that makes me think further about them.
I felt Dennis Holland's narration a bit better than in the previous book, adding more nuances and it seemed that the characters' voices were more differentiated.
There is a resolution at the end of the book but we are left with a cliffhanger that will probably be developed in the next book. It is interesting enough to make me want to listen to it.
This book does not need to be read exclusively by fantasy readers, since the magic in it is subtle enough to enjoy the book by the story and its characters.
