Entertaining

This was a good story with a steady pace and a few scary moments. The narrator did an excellent job with the voices. I would not have chosen the way the main character spoke but I suppose that was how the author intended it to be. Other than that it was entertaining.

I felt the narrator did Not do the story justice, his voice was just to boring and I nearly fell asleep several times because of that.

I believe with the right narrator this story could have really poped.

Another Great Hunky Story

I get to keep reading the further adventures of Randy, Jewel and Clay. Plus now we have added Gene the Genie and Wilma the sex goddess into the friendship mix. Along with Hunky magic popping up here and there. I like this author's books. Gotta read the next one.

Love sick in Chicago on rollerskates.

Hinky Chicago has a lot of hinky going on. At the end is THE BEST love scene of all time. I didn't want to bury the lead. Clay has Wilma. his sex Goddess who is sharing his body. Jewel has Randy and her shrink tells her the she is literally love sick. Then there is Roller Derby! Jewel has to and Randy says no, who wins? No fair you knew the answer. The Genie is loose, again.

Jennifer was nice enough to give me a copy of this book. This is an honest review.

Excellent series and great characters!!!

This series is getting better and better!! It still has its humor and quirkiness but seems to be delving more into relationships and into mysteries and it's really great!! I loved this book so much I just had to reread some of it because I didn't want it to end :,( I can't wait for the next book!!

Great book!

Again I loved this book in the Hinky Chicago series. Jewel and her cohorts get into all types of trouble but I can't get enough of them. Great story , I can't wait to read the next book. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Hinky Grows

Excellent! This book continues where the Hinky Bearskin Rug ends. Jewel and Randy are in love but there are huge control issues which have to be worked out between them. It takes their relationship to a new level. Clay and Wilma have a lot to work out and Wilma's past plays a big part in it. The genie reappears and lots of interesting story lines will be followed. I love reading this series and look forward to the next book of Hinky adventures!

Decent Book With Lots of Action

If I were reading this book to critique the editing, I would give it fewer stars. There are a few mistakes here and there, mainly a couple sentences repeated. However, it takes interesting characters and a fast moving plot to keep me engaged. I read the whole book...that says a lot. I will read more from this author.

It's yet another of those stories that has been chopped ...

It's yet another of those stories that has been chopped up into small pieces and then sold separately. The first book was interesting but not enough to make me want to purchase the next couple of chapters and so on.

Now what?

Again I am given one of your short stories. Just when you start getting into the story and possible plot, the scrap story is over. Ok, I did like what there was of the story, there just wasn't enough of it to entice you into the next installment. Sorry, but K. Matthew will not be going on my list of authors to look out for.

not at all what i was expecting. after reading the first paragraph i was hooked. enjoyed the change of perspective from each character. once i finish this review i am purchasing the rest of the series as this merely whetted my appetite for more.

Blue Blood-PULSE 4 Get ready for some mind blowing surprises!

I just finished reading BLUE BLOOD PULSE 4. I am a huge fan of the author and all her series but THE PULSE SERIES is something special. MS. GOW has taken a very original look at the vampire genre and turned it into something I've never had the pleasure to read before. The whole concept of carriers of Life's Blood and the Vampire's that use it for various reasons. Leading us to Kalina, a carrier of Life's Blood, her Brother Justin, Octavius and his sires, the Greystone brothers.

My Review: Despite the dangers that were lurking at the end of BLOOD BURNED-PULSE 3, Kalina decides to go ahead with her plans to tour Yale and finish up at Rutherford. She's worried about putting her friend Maeve and Brother Justin in any more danger than necessary so she declines Octavius's solution of hiding out in Europe away from any danger that may be lurking.

While touring Yale, Jaeger finds her but his only intent is keeping her safe from Stuart who is tormenting her telepathically, Stuart is always near and always knows exactly what she's doing and who she's with.

It isn't long before she's accosted on the street by a woman who could be her twin sister. The woman, although she could be her twin has needle marks up and down her arms, is thin and pale and can fight like a ninja warrior! Neither Kalina nor Jaeger has ever seen her before but Jaeger can smell Life's blood coming from her meaning she's a carrier.

Mal and Leonard come back into Kalina's life, hurting someone she loves deeply and she barely makes it out of that fight alive.

Kalina learns some interesting information about her background that is more than interesting, its mind blowing! It turns out Kalina has more cut out for her than she ever dreamed possible and the Greystone boys and Octavius may be recruited. A new member is brought into the series, a very important member who could help change the way the whole Life Blood carrier's lives work and it's up to Kalina and her friends to make that change. Without them teaming up and working together to stop the greedy vampires; the world will change and not in a good way.

Summary: What I loved about this book: Kalina, although only 18 is showing a maturity growth that starts at the beginning of the book and blossoms throughout. It's gradual but it's there and at just the right speed.

Funny and exciting!

I had to keep myself from laughing out loud as I was listening to this at work. Normally I am not a big into zombies but I actually enjoyed this!

Definitely recommend this one.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator was excellent and fully brought the characters to life without overdramatizing them. Voice tone kept it interesting. The story was enjoyable with lots of plot twists and action scenes. Wonderful and detailed descriptions of scenery. I loved the characters, but wished for more insight into their thoughts and feelings throughout the book. I do not want to get specific because I don't want my review to be a spoiler, but I wished for more dialogue among the characters in the middle part of the book when everyone settled in each night. I hope to get to know these characters better in a sequel, if there is one.

This is not your predictable tale of man vs vamp

What happens when vampires cross into the path of a mob boss? Blood flows freely on both sides!

Alexei, a centuries old vampire loves to spend time in the limelight and with beautiful people. He selects his victims with care much like a serial killer. He selects the wrong victim early on and madness ensues. Enzo Salernos man is viciously murdered and now he wants the man responsible to pay with his own life. Salerno runs his business in the style of the old-fashioned Italians with a vengeance! At first suspecting a retaliating mob hit, Salerno sends his scores of men to the street to find who the responsible party is and exact revenge. Then he discovers there really are vampires!

Magnus, the leader of the brood of vampires and Alexei, finds he must try to negotiate with the mob boss and the FBI in order to protect his brood. Alexeis growing paranoia along with jealousy pushes things further and escalates the deadly encounter. Salerno successfully strikes fear in the heart of the vampires. Both sides retaliate with a ferociousness that is mind-boggling!

This is not your predictable tale of man vs vampires; it is full of twists and turns leaving you stunned at the ending. Carl Alves takes a common theme (man vs vampire) and makes it fresh and unique. My expectations were that this book was going to be like so many other vampire books but instead I found so much more! Alves takes the story beyond the norm but keeps it realistically grounded through the human characters.

I found this book to be highly intriguing in many different ways. Alves builds the story around the conversion to vampirism method, the personality and mentality of Alexei and the characters dancing around one another exacting revenge and delivering messages in a vile and vicious manner. This is a good book, one that I would listen to again and highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the darker side of vampires and humankind as well as anyone who loves action! It well written and thought out, there are no holes or issues.

Steve Williams did an exceptional job of narrating; the different accents were spot on and difficult Philly brogue and Old Russian. He never messed up or became confused. I thought he did a wonderful job. He used his voice to infect the listeners with excitement, fear and danger. He also inflected confidence and weakness when appropriate.

Awesome Supernatural Thriller!!

I am a huge fan of supernatural thrillers and this audiobook doesn't disappoint. I was impressed by the courage possessed by the siblings. Their strong sense of family is inspiring. I look forward to book 2.

Short, but exciting

If you could sum up Killing Van Helsing in three words, what would they be?

This is a short audiobook, but it seems to set up future stories that could be a lot of fun.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Van Helsing (he's old, but still kicks butt).

Which scene was your favorite?

When Van Helsing took down the bigger stronger goons (even though he was in his eighties). I could picture him doing that. I also think it's refreshing to have a heroine take the leadership position (in this case his granddaughter).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book is short, but if you want a quick listen that sets up the rest of the series, this is great.
