    Publisher's Summary:
Azriel Creed has gotten fat since slaughtering all the zombies.
During the past year he's lived a life of leisure - drinking, partying, and ignoring the blood-thirsty monsters his race was bred to hunt and kill. His sedentary lifestyle has made him flabby and out-of-shape. He must hold his breath just to tie his shoes. He gets winded merely walking up and down stairs. And he's more concerned about pleasing his bitchy, iPhone-addicted girlfriend than his destiny as the most ruthless assassin of evil beings who has ever lived.
But Azriel's charmed way of life is cut short when an insane vampire obsessed with skinning people alive is resurrected and sends his dark agents after him. In order to survive, Azriel is forced to team up with a violent, sex-crazed old lady who constantly lusts after him, and a 5,500 year old vampire who can't piss because of prostate problems, and who spends all his time either tormenting his concubine or trying to kill himself.
While Azriel struggles to stay alive and battles enemies both new and old, he soon discovers he's the only one who can stop an evil that has existed since before the days of Noah from turning the world into a literal apocalyptic hell on earth.

The author doesn't care what you think about this book. Which is why it's awesome.
Another novel, another mind-porn. Seriously, if you're looking for a form of pure entertainment that doesn't care about tried-and-true literary story-lines... you've found it. Between the ass-old vampire Fezziwig and the obsessively horny grandmother, these characters (and this plot) couldn't possibly have any deeper meaning.
    ...or could they?
Vampire Apocalypse is like Shrek. (1) Many layers, like an onion. (2) Entertainment for the simple-minded, and inside-jokes for the adults. And (3) an acute awareness of who its target audience is. Let me spell it out for you. If you love traditional vampire, teenager, romance novels... then this book is NOT for you. If you're a literary critic whom feels cheated if you spend four bucks and don't get the same predictable thrill-ride you experience when reading about hobbits or a pre-pube magician (whose name might rhyme with "Larry Snotter") then this book is not for you either.
But if you're a dude who unapologetically enjoys twisted s#it... and want to fill your daytime/nighttime gaps with a ridiculous(ly entertaining) underdog story instead of the usual LEBRON/MANZIEL crap on ESPN?
Then buy the damn book and eat your heart out.
Humor, Horror, and Hauntingly Helpful Hacks
What the hell did I just read? It's 2 parts weird religious speculation, 3 parts raucous horror story (think Saturday the 14th meets Lost Boys while tripping on mushrooms in the woods with Rob Zombie), and 1 part insanely applicable, real-world advice on inner power and relationships.
I loved Zombie Cop and still have a bit of it churning in my guts.

    Regular Unleaded
The base story line is OK; however, the narrator ruined the book. Her voice is not unpleasant but monotone and unemotional. She did exactly what it's called, read the story. No matter the pace of the action it sounded all the same. Learned a valuable lesson, listen to audio excerpt before buying.

So this is my first book by this author and let me say, it was good! She paints such a world with her words. The description is vivid, I do wish though she put more time into the main character. Overall, it's worth reading!
Another One for the Keeper Shelf
This is the first book in a new series (Dream Wars) for author Kerry Schafer. I'm a huge fan of the world she created in her debut novel, BETWEEN. This book, while still walking through a dreamscape, is a different animal. Jesse Davison is a dream runner. She "picks up" and "delivers" dreams to people who request a special one. Payment is high, which is how Jesse found herself in her current predicament. Compelled by circumstances, she has returned home and is forced to confront things she's been running from. This is one of those books that you think you'll read a chapter or two before bed and then you realize it's way after midnight and you've finished it. Once again, Schafer delivers impeccable world-building, flawed but arresting characters, and dream-like prose woven around a fast-paced story. This is another keeper.
    One of those
You know those books you start to read with the intentions of reading a few chapters and then end up reading the whole thing because you just have to know what happens next? Yeah, this book is one of those. Excellent read.
Thank goodness all three books are available!
Excellent book. I loved the characters and the premise. The writing was spot on. My only problem was it was too short! I want more! Thank goodness the other two books in this series are out and winging their way to my Kindle even as I type this. =o)
    Brilliantly Executed Idea
'One of the truths I've learned about life is this: never say never. The gods take it as a personal challenge and are bound to screw you over.'
Those words open this story and what a great way to start! I've been fortunate enough lately, to get the opportunity to read a lot of authors I'd yet to discover. Kerry Schafer is the latest name to be added to that list. Her writing is fluid, it sucked me in, and it immersed me fully into the world of a Dream Runner.
If you like your heroines to be full of fluff and little on substance, you might want to look elsewhere. Jesse Davison is a very broken, flawed, and beautifully written character.

    Publisher's Summary:
Twenty-year-old Russ arrives in the northern California town of Freedom to visit his dad. Freedom has peculiarities other than its odd name: the local mayor's ideas of "decentralization" have left it without normal connections to state or federal government and minimal public services. Russ meets an interesting young woman, Pendra, but before he can get to know much about Freedom or its people, a savage tsunami strikes the West Coast.
The wave of human brutality that soon hits the isolated town proves more dangerous to the survivors than the natural disaster. Russ, his father, Pendra, and the other townsfolk must tap all their courage and ingenuity - and find strength they never knew they had - if they have any hope of living to find real freedom!

A Different Kind of Disaster Novel
John Shirley has a strange, rare ability to frighten, enrage, shock while making the reader think deeply on social issues, and sometimes even cry. I expected nothing different with "Everything is Broken," and received beyond my expectations.
Although most certainly packed with action, violence, depravity in its purest form, there is a reason for each despicable act, every heart-wrenching doom-y scene, reasons that go deeper than the visceral entertainment factor, reasons that seep into intellect, rouse basic instinct, and make us question what it really means to be free. Is it all about outside control, such as "big government," or is it something much simpler, real, not cultivated by greed, ignorance and sound bites? I believe it is simple, really. Freedom -- true freedom -- is a state of being within one's own mind, a state of compassion, a connectedness with our fellow man, an honest kindness and caring that is inherent in most of us, but is all too often flushed out of some.
"When we help others, we help ourselves" is not a silly cliche; society flourishes when we cooperate, build together, take care of one another. Simple. That is freedom. Those who worship self and fear anything outside of self are the ones in chains.
Showdown at the NOT OK Corral
In his latest novel Everything Is Broken, veteran writer John Shirley returns to a territory I believe his legion of readers could all benefit from were he to revisit it more often: the setting of the real world. Having cut his teeth on practically every genre out there, (most notably helping to pioneer both the splatter- and cyberpunk movements, as well as carry on the horror tradition with great finesse in the novels In Darkness Waiting, Wetbones, and Demons, just to name a few), it's been a full decade since 2002's Spider Moon (another slim hard boiled yarn that packs a real wallop), a novella about street revenge set in our real world. In my opinion, reality is the setting this author knows best, and he applies all his skills toward rendering the fictional town of Freedom, California in an easy to read and believable manner, due largely to its well-sketched out characters which most of us can relate to. Suffice it to say this story is a lean, sharp, shock of a tale that does not pull its punches nor hold back from keeping the reader pinned to his seat through its relentless conclusion. There is real human tragedy and drama here to keep most anyone entertained.

    Ghost of a chance
Did Ghost of a Chance inspire you to do anything?
It was a little dark for my bedtime listening but the bizarre personality of characters was interesting. You never knew who would turn up next. Interesting audiobook though.
Star studded Who Dunnit Who killed "Papa"?
If you could sum up Ghost of a Chance in three words, what would they be?
    Celebrities. Supernatural. Mystery.
What other book might you compare Ghost of a Chance to and why?
Some of the historic fiction I have read are vaguely SIMILAR. Max Alan Collins' Matt Heller series have the celebrity mystery to be solved aspect. But "Ghost of a Chance" adds the supernatural interaction with dead celebrities and the Afterlife. It was unique in my reading experience.
Which character as performed by Mark Kamish was your favorite?
Marlene Dietrich. lol She kicks butt. And guides the protagonist through unfamiliar territory. Mark gives a good rendition of her voice!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed and grinned. Does grinning count for this question? And I was saddened over the treatment of the unicorn.
    Any additional comments?
So, we have Hemingway, Dietrich, Sam Clemens, and walk on parts by other celebrities. And there's the Unicorn. And the Afterlife setting. And the mystery... And a good narrator.
    What are you waiting for?
Thank you for the opportunity to review it!
This review copy audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost. I am happy to give my honest review of it. I think I'm suppose to mention how reviewing this was voluntary on my part.
    Amazing voices
The narrator of this book was amazing! I have to admit however the story itself was a bit confusing. There was so much going on I kept getting lost. Parts where made more interesting and vibrant simply because of the fabulous job the narrator did on the voices themselves. That alone is worth getting the audio copy of this book for I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review. To sum it up narrator amazing story a bit confusing tho some great stuff in there to get you thinking. Old Hollywood movie and history ghosts hum , see a lot to think about
    Uneven story with good narration
    Any additional comments?
This was very strange story, I found parts of the dialogue very interesting, but the overall storyline very uneven. Our protagonist is likable in his creative world of pop-culture and historical figures. My biggest gripe is how the hero is constantly saved by someone else. As I stated earlier, I felt the dialogue was really good at setting up why the characters were friends or not. The narrator is good with multiple voices and has a compelling style and really made this story better.
    Boy book, perhaps.
I think perhaps this book would be enjoyed by men more than women.

    Members Reviews:
    Enjoyed the Book
Devan is determined to fix things once she discovers that those she loves have been victimizing children. She will have to decide who she can trust in her mission to save them.
I enjoyed the book. It is a good start to the series. As it is a start, there is more development needed. There is a good mix of action and romance and it keeps it moving at a good pace.
I really did enjoy this story
I really did enjoy this story. Ms. Hardin has a writing style that really fleshes out her characters and is a master at filling in the scenes. This is one of those stories that plays out in your head like a movie.
This is a story about a woman that has seen some strange things happening and is shocked to find out that she can do some strange things also. The vampires are buying children with magical gifts to use as blood slaves in order to strengthen themselves with their blood. Devan finds out her father and boyfriend are in the business of brokering these sales. They find the children and sell them to the highest bidder. Disgusted that she actually assisted in cruising orphanages with Robin, her college boyfriend, Devan goes out to find help to stop her father. She comes to finds out he's a little fish in a huge pond. She meets Kent, Langston and their group who all have strange powers, only to finds out she is the strongest of them all.
I made the mistake of reading the series following this series (For the Love of Fae) first and fell in love with the characters. Even though I had a hard time understanding them at first. Now I see why, I needed to read this story to understand what was happening.
    A great paranormal read
I got this book as a kindle freebie on Amazon. It sat on my shelf for a while until one day I came across it and decided to finally pick it up. Yeah, so I am glad I did.
*Kent* *sigh* You've gotta appreciate a sexy guy in any book. To be a fly on the wall in many scenes of this book, I would love to be. I liked his character and his part of the story that unfolded as the book continued.
I was a little sad that Devan jumped so headfirst into everything that was thrown at her. She was just too accepting of all the life altering changes that went on. Devan was adaptable yes, but also a little suicidal in my opinion.
The plot to the book was fast paced and enjoyable. I never felt like the story lagged at any point. I read this book in a day. The storyline was fresh and I loved the inclusion of all the different types of magical creatures. There were fairies, vampires, witches and bad guys selling people. What more could you want in your characters?
This was a great adult paranormal read. I would recommend it to all lovers of this genre.

Twists and turns you don't see coming
What made the experience of listening to Forbidden Love the most enjoyable?
I loved that I could hear a great story while unpacking. This is an awesome way to multi-task.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the story the best. The author puts twists in that you don't see coming.
Have you listened to any of Maria Hunter Welless other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to this narrator before and this wasn't my favorite performance by her. I thought her Scottish accent had a Russian or Romanian flare to it.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Alena and Ephraim's love story. It builds so it's real.
    Any additional comments?
Alena bugged me at times with her jealousy but other than that I really liked the story. I loved all the action and twists. I recommend this story if you like vampires, suspense, and a love story that goes back centuries.
Highlanders! Vampires! Huntresses! Love over Time!
What made the experience of listening to Forbidden Love the most enjoyable?
The combination of the captivating story and the narrator! Together the story came alive and kept my attention from the beginning to the end!
What did you like best about this story?
Forbidden Love will have you laughing one minute and swooning the next. It is a fractured re-telling of Romeo and Juliet, lovers cursed never to be united.
I always look forward to Terry's happy- ever-after endings. In Forbidden Lover she has a doozy of an ending in store that will leave a big smile on your face. Just be prepared for some huge surprises along the way!
It is real, Lass.... You are mine as I am yours.
What about Maria Hunter Welless performance did you like?
The narrator was very good. I could tell by her voice who was speaking and her inflection was right on. She voiced the Scottish brogue very well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I especially loved their scenes in the hot tub. SO romantic and funny too! The chemistry between the two when Alena wasn't fighting him (and herself) was sizzling hot!! Their discourse was beautiful and funny and their interactions were passionately erotic. Just imagine a love held in check and unquenched for eons! I laughed out loud again when they were rushing to make love and Ephraim said: You need to wear less clothing, lass before they got down to some serious ooh la la lovemaking.
    Any additional comments?
Ephraim was awesome. He spoke in brogue and I loved hearing him voiced by the narrator. He had suffered so over the centuries chasing Elizabeth's reincarnations and watching her die over and over.
