Absolutely Loved it!

Very interesting characters, lingering past of the town that consumes the characters, and an ending that forces you to use your imagination.

Spooky

This is unlike most of the stuff that Blaylock has written already so if you're expecting the same old stories, get ready for something a bit different. He tackles ghost stories this time out and while the themes are nearly the same as always, basically normal everyday people trying to cope with the extraordinary (or just plain weird) and as usual set in California. But it gets waaayy different from there, for the first time things are really frightening, this is the darkest book he might have ever written. And his characters feel more real for once, mostly gone are the likable but quirky folks who populate his other books, here everyone is just like you and me, they have their flaws and benefits just the same as anyone else. And I don't think he's ever written a character as odious as Pomeroy, he's quite the convincing psychopath. As for the ghost part, well that's not all that clear but then it's a ghost story it's not supposed to make perfect sense. What counts here is the atmosphere and the pages are dripping with wind and dark and the nighttime and all the horrors that it brings. Not really scary but certainly gets you into the novel and helps you live in the character's world. In essence this is the most "mature" book he's ever done, tackling more serious subjects of relationships (both starting and ending them), abnormal psyches, sexuality, all the good stuff that's in the world the rest of us live in.

This is the story of a brave young woman in a primitive village in Romania. A werewolf hunts the woods nearby and selects maidens for his amusement and consumption. Rozanitsa would be a prize for his next catch but she turns the table and hunts him. So starts a battle between the two with each experiencing victories and defeats. An interesting ploy of the story is telling half the story from the werewolfâs viewpoint and the rest from Rozanisaâs viewpoint. The men of the village including her father treat women so poorly that a battle with a werewolf seems more likable than life in the village. Rozanitsa is forced to be the bait in a trap set for the werewolf, the trap fails and she is left to fend for herself against the monster. Together they begin a journey west towards her motherâs country, Ireland where she hopes there is magic to combat her companionâs evil. As the journey enfolds so does her journey into the life led by a werewolf. This road of thorns takes on several meanings as her family sets out to find her. The ending is different than I hoped for but it satisfies all the expectations of dark fiction.

Loved the characters and the story line. I'm not much for book reviews, so just read it and you will see what I mean.

Very good start by this new author. Can't wait for more of her books to be released.

It took me about 10 pages to get into it. Seemed a bit stiff and formal at first.

Good story - bad narrator

If it weren't for the fact that I enjoy the author I wouldn't get anything with the narrator. It's like she has very little inflection in her voice, inappropriately pauses in places and it seems as if this is the first time she's even opened the book. Just as a great narrator can save a so-so book, they can also ruin a good book.

Last,but not least

This is the third book in the series. Although it may stand alone, it is better after book 2 (I didn't read 1). Ties up all the loose ends in book 2 nicely, and handles the good vs evil battle quite well. Good fantasy series.

On Again Off Again

This time was more serious and not so much comedy. I actually had a harder time following the story line. It jumped around a lot. Randy and Jewels relationship is still teetering, hence the off again on again reference. There was some weird hinky sexual situations. Let's see where it goes in the next book.

Fun, serious read with heat!!!

This series is getting better and better!! It's humorous, sexy, fun and now very interesting. The first 2 books hit on the mystery lightly this one went gung ho and it was really good. We still have poor Jewel trying to figure out what to do with Randy and Clay trying to figure out what to do with Jewel. It's like romance meets comedy meets mystery meets soap opera and it's fun!!! I can't wait for the next one!!

Another great story!

I felt this was another great book from Ms. Stevenson. Jewel, Randy and Clay are on anoher case and are forced to access their situation. Will they open up and tell the others how they feel?? I really enjoyed and couldnt put it down. I can't wait to read the next in the series. I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

Excellent! I laughed so much when Randy jumped in to bear skin rug, lol! This is a learning book for both Randy, Jewel, and Clay. There are other characters that you meet but their story is secondary to what is happening between those three. Clay will be getting in touch with his feminine side. You definitely have action,mystery but the romance is so important. I hope you will read and enjoy this book as much as I did!

The Dark Fae claim Kelly Clan land and have the backing of Gideon's mother-in-law Seelie Queen Angharad; Adam's father Unseelie High King Drystan and Keira's great-great grandma Minerva support the couple. While gathering the forces in San Antonio to counter Gideon and his deadly allies, hell has broken loose in Keira's home Rio Seco and Minerva has vanished. Keira believes odious slick Gideon is trying to crack her into breaking the blood rules of the Challenge.

The latest Bloodlines feud (see Matters of the Blood and Blood Bargain) takes several dark nasty twists in an enjoyable urban fantasy. Filled with action from the start, series readers will appreciate the spins as ritual Challenge makes for a terrific twisting taut thriller.

I picked up the first one of this series by chance and I found that I really wanted to finish it.

(3.5) A fitting ending

(3.5 stars) On her blog, Maria Lima states that Blood Sacrifice is the final Blood Lines book -- at least for now. Blood Sacrifice is a fitting conclusion, and one of the best installments in the series.

The end of Blood Heat was a doozy: Keira's power-hungry ex, Gideon, had just crashed Keira and Adam's royal bash and challenged their right to their lands. With him were two women: Gideon's pregnant bride -- the Seelie queen's daughter -- and Keira's own mother.

Gideon's claim is that the land does not recognize Keira and Adam as its rightful rulers. The Texas heat wave introduced in Blood Heat is used as evidence.
