perfect for implementing immediate change

Quick, effective, inspiring. I like how the book gives you a to-do list for every chapter. I plan to buy a physical copy so that I can highlight these sections and put them to work!

The content itself is very repeating. The author goes over the same concept (pretty simple at that) over and over. For example, she would start with the statement like physical clutter will reduce your productivity - and then it will go into a 5-7 min over-explanation why with many repeating examples.

I understand the need to pad the book a little, but I felt this was done too much, almost making it unbearable. Trying to find useful tips was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

In addition the reader was also slow, like reading the book to a kindergarten class.

My advice: know your audience and cut to the chase, I would rather this be a 1 hour audio book full of useful advice and tips vs. 4 hours of the same stuff just worded differently and repeated over and over.

The information here was quite basic. And I wonder about the scope. I did not need a tutorial on how to use Windows 7/8. Also, different colored stick notes on a whiteboard? Really? Sounds like a system for my 80 year old father.

easy to understand

After meeting Ms. Weber I immediately went home and ordered a few of her books. Well written, easy to understand, and the process is do-able. Now. . . .for the implementation of moving my life forward and experiencing that 360 degrees of success. :)

Well written, well rounded, and well understood!

I have the audio version of this book, and will most certainly buy a hard copy as well. There's a wealth of information between the pages... everything from tips for a first date to diet, exercise and a comprehensible and fun to read understanding of money and having a good relationship with it. Ana Weber does such a great job reaching in to touch the heart with wonderful personal stories that give you a firm idea of just how much you would love to have someone like her working with your business. There is fantastic advice stored between the pages- for every nook and cranny that life has to offer. It is truly a work of art for those searching for a well rounded 360 degree path to happiness and success. Love it! It's one of those books I will keep forever and re-visit.

Highly Recommend!

Ana Weber's book is so beautifully written, if flows so well and I was able to read it quickly. I found in it wisdom and tips to help me strengthen myself in areas I did not know were important. A lot of what I read is new to me, and I able to connect the dots and see what life is all about. Ana's knowledge is helpful to our time now, she uses her successful ventures in life and business to derive lessons anyone can learn from. I loved this book and highly recommend it to people who are searching for ways to make their life better in every way, and who want to make a brand new start.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A book with real content, and real advice, read by a real person. This was a rambling mess read by what sounded like a pretty smart robot.

What was most disappointing about Sean C. Castrinas story?

There is no solid thread connecting the eight rules, which seem a bit too obvious and easily explained to bother writing a book about.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Anthony Gettig?

A human being, any human being. I am not kidding when I say that I believe that "Anthony Gettig" is a piece of computer software. The unusual rhythm and pronunciation is robotic and jarring, making a bad book completely unlistenable.

What character would you cut from 8 Unbreakable Rules for Business Start-Up Success?

I would cut the narrator, because he hints at all of his entrepreneurial success, but annoyingly doesn't go into any details.

I have never felt the need to return an audiobook until now, but there is a first time for everything. Watching a Jersey Shore marathon would be a better use of 4 hours.

Not for me

I downloaded this book after hearing reviews that it was an essential read. Although I got a few good ideas from it, it's pretty basic and aimed at people in the beginning stages of a business.

My main gripe is that it's best suited to regular businesses like restaurants and not for lean tech startups. It preaches a lot of non-lean traditional advice that buries you in planning before you even begin.

A fresh approach to a business book

If you are serious about your business and your career, and have spent any time around Baseball at all, you will enjoy reading this book. The author clearly understands both worlds and has connected the dots to help me learn. I enjoy reading about business, and am a voracious reader. I must admit that it is challenging at times to keep the excitiement level up while reading. I did not have that problem with this book by breaking down key principles into the 1st inning through 9th inning format. I have two young sons who I invested many years of little league with. Now that they are adults in business, I have given both of them this book to read and it has stimulated many memories that have been the topic of conversation since they both read the book. You will enjoy reading this book and the business value will pay for itself many times over.

Nice Comprehensive Overview

I've been involved with many types of small and large businesses for over 30 years, both as a member of management and as a professional strategy, operations excellence and risk management consultant. It was refreshing to read such a nicely packaged and well-organized compilation of the best ways of thinking about actionable steps that lead to a successful enterprise. In particular, the juxtaposition of the sports coaching experiences with the challenges of business brings clarity to many ideas about culture and alignment. It's also quite nicely designed as a practical tutorial that should prove useful in tactical implementation. Well done!

Relevant, Fun and Informative

"Winning in Baseball and Business" was a great read! Each chapter was well-organized with a specific theme and focus. Along with the relevant points, there are fun stories that drive-in the point. Earl's writing style draws you in and keeps you reading more. This is really a "road map" or blueprint that can be used for evaluating yourself and your organization. The book provides real-world practical advise. I highly recommend the book to anyone in a leadership role or anyone that aspires to be in a leadership role - in business or in the community! A great read!

A Book that Makes You Work

Earl Bell's book is no quick read. Each chapter requires you to put your pen to the paper and your brain to be turned on. So many books that aim at improving ones position within the business world stop short at having their reader actually engage themselves. Earl gets you moving to your goals faster than anyone else. Ideas are only as good as the action that follows them, and Earl knows what it takes to start the catalyst.

What made the experience of listening to Leadership Lessons from the Cherokee Nation the most enjoyable?

Each chapter of this book is mind blowing. The authors first person account about his people and their struggle, to go from riches to desperate poverty and still come back to being a strong Cherokee Nation full of great pride and success in everything they pursue.

What did you like best about this story?

That the author wrote about his people and himself, not someone else telling or writing for him.

Be curious, collaborate, and reflect

Bob and Paul did an impressive job in describing the pursuit to get unstuck and overcome Adam's struggle in The Leader's Climb.

Struggles have patterns:

1. Going too fast - instead, be genuinely curious about what we don't know.

2. Fighting too much - stop denying current realities

3. Forcing too many decisions - managers don't need to act like air traffic controllers. They should be disciplined to take time to reflect and make sound decisions and the only ones they should have to make. Resist the urge to measure success by being the answer-man.

Great story telling

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and felt the majority of them were well developed and I wanted to know more about them as individuals (a good sign).

The interactions were subtle and I appreciated it. I love being able to infer and interpret behavior as a reader, it makes the characters feel real.

Overall a great job, the wisdom of the book came through loud and clear. I recommend you read it.

Never too late to learn

At age 55, I had just about decided that I knew "enough" to keep at my work using the same method that has been successful for over 30 years. After reading The Leader's Climb, I have a fresh perspective on both my method and what successful can mean. Give this book to the young man or young lady you know that is just starting their climb. You may not make an immediate friend, but you will make a friend for life.

A quick read that keeps your attention right to the end. This isn't a book for CEO's as much as its a book for people who deal with other people. If your looking for some reminders on what it takes get things done with others, this is for you.

Leader's Climb is a fiction story of a CEO who has challenges and struggles. The story line moves through those struggles helping to provide insights the reader can use.

It is written by a couple of CEO coaches and part of the message I resist (perhaps I am still too driven) - there is a tone of slowing down.
