Love, Love, Love This One!

Other than LOVING the title, the characters were warm and seemingly real. Real interesting, real funny and real. This is the best "what if..." kinda book that stays awhile after you've read/listen to it. I had slacked off on my exercising but while reading this I jumped back into it and lost a good 10lbs along with the main character. I am glad that the image that the main character is left with is a good one. We are what we are and no matter how much we might exercise no one will be what someone else is and its okay. I love how the best lesson from this book is BE YOU, be the BEST YOU! It doesn't matter what size you are as long as you are YOU and that is just fine.

Loved the humor and wit as well as being a lesson for us all. Both of the main characters was able to learn from one another.

Another Win

Would you consider the audio edition of Whiskey Beach to be better than the print version?

Yes. I love Luke Daniels as a narrator. He draws me in to every story he has ever read.

I dont know. Its a nice murder mystery with a bit of romance in it that is not borderline porn! Just the right mix.

Oh what a satisfying Read!

I love this book

Ms. Roberts never disappoint. And Luke Daniels, really, did he voiced all those characters? Wow! excellent. I definitely recommend this book. it's a page turner. This is one for the Library

One big yawn

The storyline in Whiskey Beach would have fit perfectly into a short story format. It was frustrating to stop knitting and fast forward through the tedious parts, of which there were many. I listen to Nora Roberts when I'm in need of some light entertainment. This was a tedious slog through nothingness. No more Nora Roberts for me.

In my view, the narration was fine. It's hard to do much with a dull storyline.

Not So Good

This was not an enjoyable experience for me. I don't normally complain about a book being too long but this one sags and drags. I did not bond with the characters or the improbable plot. There was no suspense for me. Very repetitive and farfetched. The narration was okay, it was the story that disappointed.

Loved the book

I really enjoyed this book. Some might think it is typical Roberts & I guess it is but it is good nevertheless. Berkot did a great job narrating too. I would listen to him again & I definitely will read/listen to Nora again.

What I liked about this audiobook is it made me start to come up with my own ideas sparked by the authors suggestions and the fun the narrator seemed to be having sharing them. The ideas ARE romantic and simple and fun. And some are sexy and some are sweet. And you don't have to wait for a holiday!

Perfect Ending!

I enjoyed all three stories in Nora's trilogy. This one was by far the best! The mystery of the lost/ghost lovers was solved in a very satisfying way. Hope and Ryder were a fun couple to watch in action. Although I would have liked a lil more story on the ex-boyfriend, that was not resolved to my satisfaction. These were fun, light listening to stories, something to occupy the mind, remove you from the daily stresses of life.

Third times the charm

I didn't really care for book 1 or 2 in this series but had to get the third because it was Ryder's story. He made all the books more interesting and funny so this was a must read for me. Much like the others it had some boring parts and I didn't really care much for the ghost story. Overall I thought it was an easy "read" and I don't regret using my credit. I just wish his story was first.

Great End to a Delightful Series

I really enjoyed this final installment in the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy. I love series. The romance is good & the storyline is fun. Highly recommend. The narrator did the first two in this series & greatly improved in the last two. Enjoyed him as well

Eh - so-so

The dialogue in this book is juvenile and the narration is painful. Not one of my favorite Nora Roberts book. I am coming off finishing two intense, extremely well written books, so this is sounding extra lame. I should have saved the story for a "light" listening situation, like when I am cleaning and only need half my attention on the book. Light, lame, predictable, but cute. Not sure it was worth the credit.

Haven't even finished this whiney annoying story

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A better narration could have made this easier to listen to, and a more productive story line.

What was most disappointing about Emily Giffins story?

The first 5 chapters were practically the same information as the last book. Super annoying and super repetitive.

How could the performance have been better?

It's almost like the narrator doesn't even like Darcy (the main character) as she makes her as whiney as possible. Her inflections could be better for the other characters also.

TOUCHING & EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER OF PASSION

Firstly, I cannot compare this awesome listen to FSOG as I haven't yet listened to the raved over book but all I can do is review this one.

This book totally consumed me as it unfolded to tell the heart renching story of two previously sexually abused people slowly learning to trust in each other, letting go of their pasts and eventually love again. I fell in love with Gideon not because he was handsome, filthy rich, successful at everything he did but because he was sooo vulnerable, caring and thoughtful when it came to Eva. He thought his life was just fine and wanted for nothing....... until he met her eyes - then sparks flew and they very quickly turned into embers which ignited into burning hot flames of passion filled pages.

Good plot, great primary and secondary characters and lots of 'hot and heavy' all go into the mix to create a well written and well narrated exceptional listen.

Worth a credit? DEFINATELY, TOTALLY and ABSOLUTELY YES.

This book was beyond amazing for me!

I listened to the Fifty Shades trilogy twice back to back. And I loved every second of it. Then I went into an emotional detox and started listening to paranormal romances for a few weeks. Just when I was starting to miss fifty a little, Bared to you came out promising to be a substitute for FSoG. It was not... But I must clarify that I really liked both books. Enough about fifty.

Bared to You is the story of Eva and Gideon, two very beautiful, filthy rich people that fall madly in love. The thing is they are kind of crazy, and not the fun kinda crazy, but the you'll-Need-therapy-the-rest-of-your-life kind of crazy. They have both been victims of sexual abuse when kids and they don't really know how to have a normal happy healthy relationship. The interesting thing is that their sexual abuse made them a little cookoo but did not affect their libido of sexual performance. At. All. Hot chemistry!

Bring in secondary stories about the bi-sexual, also insane but ridiculously gorgeous roommate that Eva has (Cary). Eva's controlling mother and Gideon's very misterious family and you have a story that is very interesting, unpredictable and did I mention HOT!

If you loved fifty and are looking for another version of the story, please note that this is different, more psychological and intense. No BDSM at all.

Now to the merits as an audiobook: this is fifty shades better.

Perhaps. It really depends on the subject matter.

Would you be willing to try another book from E L James? Why or why not?

Yes. I will READ the third book in this trilogy when I am done READING this second book. I will not LISTEN anymore to the "50 Shades" books. That is unless I could download the original version. I did not mind it. Anything is better than this second narration. I HATE it!

What didnt you like about Becca Battoes performance?

The male voices are absolutely horrible, paticularly Christian. I cannot listen any longer and I am only on Chapter 2. I am going to go buy the book today. I definitely prefer the first version of the narration. I did not mind Becca in the first version. Yes, she did sound young, clueless and a bit like a Disney character but I found her performance believable. Her voice reminded me of Amy Adams. In this new narration Becca sounds more like Christian did in the original version. Her performance comes across very flat and uninspired. Christian sounds like a large, clumsy, slow witted buffoon. I can't stand listening any longer. By the way, this is the first review I have ever written here. I have been listening to audio books for years and love Audible. This was the biggest waste of a credit for me.

Good Point, Well Made!!

Again, the only reason why I scored it so high was because I kept the audiobook at a faster speed, instead of the normal speed. If I kept it at the NORMAL speed, I think I would have been pissed and seriously would have wanted my $$ back. However, keeping at a FASTER speed did the trick. I was still captivated, is it possible to have that much sex? Holy Crap!! CRAZY!! Yet so intriguing. KEEP IT ON THE HIGHER SPEED TO GET THROUGH IT!! THAT IS THE ONLY WAY!!

this book was actually good. I had to roll my eyes at the end. like I wish he would go away. I know part 3 going to be something . I can feel it because of how this book ended.

New narration is dull and uninspiring!

I didn't understand the reviews of the original narration being to young sounding. The original production sounded like a college student, the new production has no character and feels shallow. Male voices are HORRID. I think the people who reviewed the original narration as bad had it so wrong.

We ate the dessert first...

So I finish the Fifty Shades trilogy... Oh the tragedy! Fortunately I can and will listen to all three books over and over. I just can't get enough Fifty. I think my inner goddess is a pervert ;).

Narration: By now Becca Batoe's remastered recording (the-I-just-drank-half-a-bottle-of-wine-and-started-reading) is growing on me. She's ok but I still prefered the original recording were she sounded young but her male voices were much better.

Fifty Shades Freed starts with Christian and Anastacia enjoying their honeymoon. It includes more kinky lovery, more vanilla wonders and more Christian going sicko possessive. By now this drags a bit because it is a repeat of situations: Christian jealous, Ana challenges them, they fight, the have steamy sex and so on and so forth. Christians skeletons keep coming out of the closet and threatening his dear Ana. There is some suspense that brings some spice to the book but it never lives up to the mesmerizing stories we got on the first two books. Oh, and Ana calls RED on fifty. I was waiting for that!

I believe that listeners will be happy with the ending. Definitely the epilogue and the Shades of grey chapters are the absolute best in the whole book. It was exactly what I wanted to listen to in this story. This trilogy is in a class of its own. I've never read anything like it and will treasure it for years to come.

50 Shades of F up!!

This one was good too I finally finished the book (listing to it on Audible). Bella expression of Teddy was so adorable lol, and I'm glad they finally got rid of Jack he was getting on my nerves I actually thought he might come out to be Christian Brother, but he wasn't.

Fifty Shades of Bad Writing

What would have made Fifty Shades of Grey better?

First, get a better narrator. I never read the book in print. However, listening to Ana and Christian's endless emails, (including dates and times) made me want to pass out from bordom. Further, the constant bickering between Ana's subconsious and her "inner goddes" was annoying, and the writer's overly-generous use the terms "holy cow", "holy s--t", and "oh my" became predictable. I'm no prude, and have read many books with erotic components. However, with the writer's use of the same descriptions over and over again (e.g. "exquisit orgasm"), even the sex scenes became boring. I truely don't understand why this book has received so much hype.

What could E L James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would have Gilbert Gottfried narrate the entire thing. That would really take this craptacular audiobook to the next level - definitely. Seriously folks...I'm not even kidding - watch the clip of him reading selections of this on You Tube. Classic. Absolute claaaaassssssiiiiiicccc.

Would you recommend Fifty Shades of Grey to your friends? Why or why not?

Only to people that can laugh at truly bad work that was meant to be taken seriously. In fact, get them all in a room together with copious amounts of alcohol and blast this audiobook. Make it a drinking game - take a shot every time Anastasia refers to her "inner goddess" or sputters "oh, my!" Take another shot every time creepy Grey "levels his intense (serial killer-like) gaze upon Anastasia". On second thought, don't - everyone will wind up dead from alcohol poisoning.
