You need to Set your MP3 Playback to FASTER!

I really enjoyed this story. I just finished the second story, and I thought I would share my comments here also as they apply equally to both. The narration was driving me INSANE - he speaks so slowly and deliberately. Then I found the setting to speed up the audiobook playback to faster. WHAT a relief, I am actually enjoying the story now. His female voices are still poor and his kids' voices make me cringe. All the adult characters sound very similar except Ryder. Too bad this is Beckett's story. I like the family, I like the locale, and I like the pets, especially D.A. (Dumb Ass)!

The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy is also very unusual, in that Boonsboro is a real town and the businesses named really exist and are actually owned by Nora Roberts and/or her family. They rehabbed the historic inn, had a terrible fire while it was under construction and had to start over. You can actually go and stay in the rooms, which are all named after famous fictional couples, although I suspect the ghost in the Elizabeth & Darcy room is a literary device! I also thought it was great fun that they have an Eve & Roarke room, the husband and wife team that is featured in 40+ Eve Dallas stories by Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb (my all-time FAVORITE series, with fantastic narration by Susan Erickson; what a joy they are to listen to!)

Turn the Page Bookstore is owned by the Roberts and it is where all her book signings take place, in fact it is the only bookstore to offered books signed by the Nora. Vesta Pizza is real and really offers room service to the Inn, and Gifts Inn Boonsboro is real too. If you go to Nora's website there is a link to the bookstore and Inn.

I think it is fun that she used her actual experiences of going through the rehab, setting her fictional characters against a true setting. But I think I would like it better if Nora was open about her connection to these businesses. Without the open acknowledgement, it smacks a bit of a sneaky marketing ploy. I wouldn't mind if she was up front about the connection.

Another great read!

I enjoyed this book so much, I ended up skipping dinner AND my evening workout because I was too engrossed in the book to put it down! Then the moment I finished it, I had to come on here and rave about it! I should be sleeping right now since I have to get up early tomorrow and go to work, but the book was that good!

Where to start? I loved the premise of a kiss that was so powerful, it changed both the lives of Owen and Lucy. Speaking of which, I loved them both! Both are characters that are hurting and in the book they come to term with what has been causing them pain and holding them back.

Lucy is afraid of change and has become so afraid that she fails to notice changes that have happened and that are going on around her. She's afraid of many things and seems to be a scaredy cat, yet has an inner core of steel which will surprise you. She faces each one of her phobias head on, which makes you admire her. Owen is an ex-cop who had to take medical retirement after he was injured in raid that cost him someone he loved and trusted. He too missed changes happening around him, and now is in physical and mental pain. Plus, he's the son of the town's black sheep and so is treated very rudely on his return to town. He's the bad boy everyone was warned to stay away from. But who can resist a bad boy?

While I was expecting the romance between Owen and Lucy, I was pleasantly knocked for a loop by the great use of other members of Cypress Hollow. It was great to see and hear from Cade and Abigail, and to find out what had happened after How to Knit a Love Song. They played a small but important part in Owen and Lucy's story.

I also loved Irene and how her Alzheimer's was shown. It was very realistic and heartfelt. I laughed out loud when Toots came into the picture.

Good, Entertaining "Trilogy" -- Under One Cover!

I picked this up on the Beachcomber sale and saved my credits, and I'm very happy I did! This is a classic Nora Roberts story with strong family ties, Irish roots, characters carrying childhood baggage, and a mystical legend to tie it all together. Unlike some of Roberts series books and trilogies, all three relationship stories are included in a single book. I personally liked that because the character perspectives and differences are more immediate, and the relationships progressed without endless filler pages of introspection. Combining the stories gives a more integrated feeling to the plot and action, and the story seems to move along with more purpose. Another bonus is there are three happy endings and the suspense gets wrapped up without a cliff hanger (that's no spoiler if you're a Nora Roberts fan). The humor and suspense are there as well. On the downside, it was over way too soon.

The narration was awesome with excellent male and female voices. For the reviewer who was disappointed in the pronunciation, the traditional Irish name Malachi is not pronounced the same as the Biblical name with the long I at the end. It is truly pronounced Mal-a-kee to rhyme with key, and kudos to Bernadette Quigley for getting it exactly right.

All in all, a good entertaining story.

Nora at her best!

If you like Nora Roberts, you will love this modern day storyline based on an historical event. It's exciting and funny with interesting characters you would like to meet...even the whiney mother! I bought the hard cover book for my home library as soon as it was released because, hey, I'm a big fan but this audio version is excellent too. Bernadette Quigley creates distint characters with Irish and American accents and her narration makes a great story better! I highly recommend this audio version to anyone and especially to Nora Roberts-aholics like me.

Nice light listen

A somewhat entertaining, predictable novel read by a talented narrator. This book isn't bad, nor excellent either, kind of like a KiKat, a nice light snack. Pick it up on sale or if you need something to listen to while you have things to do, does not require much attention.

I really enjoyed this listen.

This was a great listen. The plot was intricate and came up with quite a few surprises. I really enjoyed the way everything came together toward the end. Yes, this had Nora's typical romance and heated pages, but the story was great. It follows the descendents of the ill-fated Lusitania and the ramifications of that event through future generations.

nice ending

towards the end it was a struggle for me. it seems like she could have had a little more imagination in the spells. there was a lot of repeating. but overall it was a good finish.

Don't end.

I got totally wrapped up in the trilogy and did not want it to end. I wanted a fourth book. The characters were so vivid in my imagination.

Bravo to you Nora Roberts you kept my interest in every word.

Great Story but Some Character Flaws

I loved this series. But the character Ripley on occasion throughout the series is a bit childish for a 30 year old woman. Other than that the story is perfect.

This story is the perfect ending to the series where you see Mia come full circle and it slowly builds. I think the fight peak or crescendo could have been longer and more complicated however.

Voice over is perfect.

The ultimate ending!

Mia makes one want to go work at Cafe Book just so that you can learn from her and take in her learnings.

The 3 together are a force to recon with - if only love and romance were this easy!

Nora Roberts makes you want to read only trilogies so that you can get into the lives of the charaters.

if only this were real! i'd move in a flash!

Abusive Man Wins?

In book 1, and a major premise of book 2, we are faced with Evil in the form of an abusive husband. One who forced his wife to fake her own death rather than continue a potentially deadly relationship.

In book 3, we are asked to put aside an equally abusive man, one who may or may not have had good reasons to destroy the woman who loved him [Don't all abusive men have excuses for the things they do to their loved ones?] and have pity on the individual, who, after all, was only doing what he had to do. The fact that he destroyed the life of one woman is a shame, but, "The ending always justifies the means, doesn't it?"

I say - garbage stinks, no mater how much perfume you apply to it. Love is not always the answer and rejection of abuse, in all forms, must stand. This is the flaw in the series and in book 3. Nora Roberts, of all people, should have seen it coming.

I have to give the story One Star. No matter she resolved the storyline in the end, the people involved, should NEVER have made the choices they did in book 3 if the lessons learned in book 1 and 2 were even slightly real to the author.

Two Trilogies Same Story, Different Guise

My taste in Nora Roberts novels runs to those with a magical bent. So it is not surprising that I have recently read the Three Sisters Island and Cousins O'Dwyer series back to back.

What strikes me is the similarity of the three main female characters in each trilogy. The protagonist in each of the first books is a petite blonde - Nell in Three Sisters and Iona in the O'Dwyer novel. Both start out as timid pixies, who develop a strong back bone as the story evolves. The second book focuses on two women who are completely opposite of Nell and Iona. Ripley, a brunette and Meara, a red head both have a fiery temper and will of steel. Their challenge in the story is to develop maturity and restraint.

The third book brings the two characters I most enjoy-the black haired beauties Mia and Branna. Of the three pairs, these two women are the old souls of the group. They provide grounding around which the other characters operate.

The plot is almost the same in the two series as well. Each woman finds or reunites with a mate and the three couples form a group to battle a centuries old evil force that threatens to destroy them. The group, of course, prevails and all is well that ends well.

I have enjoyed both trilogies even though they are the same story in a different guise. If you have read and liked one of these series, the other will likely please you unless you are bothered by the similarity of them.

Much Better

Would you listen to Heaven and Earth again? Why?

Yes. This second installment to the 3 sisters story was much better than the first. Better character development and more information to the storyline. The pace of the plot was better too.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I like Sandra Burr's voice but she's not the best at differentiating characters. Some she does well but others you do need the he said, she said to figure out who is talking.

I like the way Roberts makes her fantasy worlds seem perfectly real and believable.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. Heaven and Earth was much better than its predecessor, Dance Upon the Air. Leaps and bounds ahead of it. The two main characters were a much more likeable in my opinion.

Would you be willing to try another book from Nora Roberts? Why or why not?

Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, and I will probably never stop reading her.

Sweet Romance with a Touch of Magic

STORY - Dance Upon the Air reminds me a lot of the Julia Roberts movie Sleeping with the Enemy. Not the same, of course, but there are a lot of similarities. It is a small town contemporary romance that has an undertone of danger and a dabbling in witchcraft. The romance is engaging, and the impending danger will keep you on your toes. Nell and Zack are strong, smart, likeable characters, and I enjoyed hearing their relationship progress. As always, Nora Roberts' sex scenes are tastefully described but still very passionate. I enjoyed this book a lot, but I've gotten very stingey with my 4's and 5's so I've just rated it a 3.

NARRATOR - Good job but nothing special. Zack's voice was a bit nasally, but way better than a lot of men's voices done by women (and vice versa).

OVERALL - I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good "clean" romance. If you are looking for lots of hot sex, you should probably skip this one.

Good Romance, Not So Good Narration

Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I was not impressed with the narrator. She reads well, but her character voices are honestly terrible. Of the three lead women in their 20s, one sounds like a little girl, another like an old lady, and the third has a nasally voice that borders on whiny. The love interest of the main character has a wooden tone with no inflection in it whatsoever, and the few other men in the book all have the exact same voice. Listen to the sample for a long time before you decide to buy this one.

FANTASTIC READ

Now this was truly a good book - I almosted wanted it to be a trilogy but Nora did a great job putting them all together and not doing anyone any injustice.

The story line was great - the twist totally a shock - left me with a "huh" and then I just couldn't shut it off because I had to see how it ends!

Erika Leigh is a great narrator - thank you for making this book come to life!

This has probably got to be one of my favourite Nora Roberts book,the suspense and mystery along with the interesting characters kept making me want to listen!

A western saga at its best

This is a wonderful slice of life story that spans an important time in a young woman's life. Willa has depth and character that stands on its own. This is the story of her coming of age and attaining womanhood. Her love interest, Ben, is more than enough man to handle this western woman. A great listen.

Beautiful!

What a beautiful story! So heart wrenching!!!

There are triggers in this book for child abuse.

As a mother, my heart was torn apart in parts of this story. Then to have my heart put back together word by word.

No review could ever do this story justice!

Emotional reunion...

Just a short warning about triggers present in this story, so if you are sensitive to child molestation as a trigger this story may not be for you. The hero and heroine in this story were best friends as children, until something happens and suddenly she is gone. Years later, she reappears in their hometown where he is now a police officer. The heroine still blames him for her departure and feels he betrayed her confidence. The rebuilding of their relationship is what the story is about and the ability of her to trust in anyone is the question. I enjoyed this book very much and the narration was excellent.

Sparkle

What a gem this book is! There are so many facets to this well written book. The story has so many emotions in it. The main theme I took away from the story was "Define or Fuel", with tragedy choosing to fuel the character, not define it. The topic of child molestation is difficult to hear about, but the author wrote this story in such a beautiful and gripping way. I loved how K.Bromberg wrote such truism into this book like trust is a hard thing to earn back, love hard in the present and not need to know the details of the past, heads up, wings out. Another aspect I found moving in this book was how the choice to do right, brought focus to what needs changed. Both narrators delivered so much with their performance, it was perfect. I received a review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and both narrators, as each one is so talented.

What an AWESOME love story

The one complaint I have is it ended too soon. But still a great big 5star rating. Every women's dream man. Loved the story, the characters and the great narrator. Definitely will be listening to these authors again. Thx for an amazing audiobook.

This was such a sweet listen, I loved Connor & Katie...and Val! Theres just something about kids that makes me love an already sweet book even more! Always a fan of Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. Narrator did a great job as well.

What made the experience of listening to Rock Solid the most enjoyable?

All points of this book were enjoyable to me. Erika and Carly did a great job with the backstory development. The storyline was believable, although 3 years and 7 months is a bit long to carry a torch the way the H and h did, other than to give Val more of a role and character the time lapsed could have been shorter.. this book didnt require a read/listen to the previous books, it can adequately standalone.

Connor was my type of guy, protective, territorial, smooth dirty talking Alpha male, yummy. Katies actions when compared to the reasons for her hang ups and mistrust were a bit exaggerated at times but not a show stopper. Little Val (Valentine) was cute, almost too cute, liked the insertion of the temper tantrum making her a more realist toddler.

The best friends character was inconsistent, the baby daddy dialog was unnecessary to identify ethnicity. Also, what type of job did her husband have that only allowed Sundays off?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rock Solid?

Loved the park scene when Connor first met Val. Loved the Connor Alpha moment when the Landscaper hit on Katie.

What does Sophie Eastlake bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Very believable narration, good voice control and consistency.

There were tender moments that were tear jerk worthy.

This was a sweet hot listen and with a cute kid in the mix its my kind of book. Narration was really good and well read. Its a great weekend listen.

Still no resolution

I cannot believe I had to suffer through endless gratuitous love scenes and still have no results. I hope the next book has less sex and more plot.

OMG

Helen Hardy, you were one of the best kept secrets. If it were not for a friend on Facebook stating that I should try this story line, I wouldn't have ever known. I am so very excited writing this review for Jonas's story to come out that my fingers and missing keys. For those who have not read the serious go and get it. She really keeps you on you toes. There are a lot of stories where you are able to figure things out before they happen (and this is fine, I like those too) but this is not one of them. I could not have guessed the third individual who committed this crime. This blew me away. Also go for the audiobook because the individuals selected to read it keep your attention. Great Job Helene Hardt. I look forward to reading more of your work.

P.S. This is the first time that I I have actually written a decent review on a book without actually just checking the stars. Way to go.

Too expensive

Not worth the cost! Way to expensive for one book! Audible books cost enough already.

No ending...

It was frustrating that the series didn't give us a wrap up of Talons story. Will we have to listen to 6 more books to get a conclusion - the POV from the other two brothers?

I did not like the women who read any of these books. Love York!

No Conclusion

Fool me once, twice, and then three times. After buying three of these books and investing almost 21 hours listening, there is still no conclusion. This is where I get off the train to nowhere. The mystery still exists, Talon is a selfish boyfriend, Jade lets him beat her up when he gets frustrated. I fast forward through the sex scenes, because we have heard it before and Who cares?
