    Great little adventure
The story was interesting and enjoyable. The only small issue I have is with the reader. The actor who plays Martha's brother narrates here. He attempts the nuances of Tennant and misses the mark. I also wish he would enunciate a bit more.
    NOT Adjoa Andoh
NOT narrated by the woman who plays Martha's mother, but rather Reggie Yates, the guy who plays Martha's brother Leo. His voice got a bit annoying after awhile. Otherwise, really good story, lots of suspense and running from monsters for at least the last half of the book. Would definitely read again.

    An extended episode.
The charactars are spot on, the interaction is fantastic, the plot is great, the writing is brilliant. Everything flows like you are listening to an episode of Torchwood. Only the show would NEVER have put this on the air. It's gory. Really gory. Some of the descriptions make you want to.... just keep a bucket close. People eat their own limbs while their still attached, and eat other people too. If you can get past the gore though, this is pure torchwood at it's finest.
    Awesome like Atapose
Would you listen to Torchwood again? Why?
Yes, same great chemistry and stories
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Owen, love his humanity
What does Burn Gorman bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Great emphasis and emotion in the reading
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Graphic descriptions - some good, some gross
    Any additional comments?
Love the wonder and horror of their world
It is personal for the Torchwood team this time!
Who doesnt want to lose weight? A doctor discovers a miracle weight loss treatment, but it soon goes sideways. There are side effects. Torchwood becomes involved, but they cant save everybody...
Oddly, despite the horror, this story struck me as particularly fun. I feel like steak tonight.
Switched to Audio from Text Version
Read from May 29 to July 12, 2012
Started reading on my Kindle on 5/29. Switched to audiobook 7/10 (read by Burn Gorman, a.k.a., Dr. Owen Harper). The audiobook was abridged, so it left out all of the angsty relationship stuff between Gwen and Rhys, which was why I wasn't enjoying the book---because the show had already progressed their relationship FAR past the point it's at in this book. As far as the mystery/alien plot---predictable.
Not Dramatized As Listed! (Still a decent listen)
This is a quick, entertaining Torchwood story that I believe is an abridged version of the actual book by Andy Lane. I'm not really a fan of abridged versions, but I thought I was getting a radio episode of Torchwood with the actual cast members when (Dramatized) was listed in the title. It's not, it's just Burn Gorman (Owen) reading a story that's mostly about Gwen and Rhys with smatterings of the other Torchwood team members.
Speaking of smatterings, this story is fairly bloody with a touch here and there of gore. Burn does a good, paced reading of the text but doesn't venture into the various accents of the diverse cast. All dialogue is spoken with a British pronunciation even though I was hoping to hear American and Welsh.
All in all, if you're a fan of Torchwood, you should like this book.

Dr Who: Price of Paradise review by ScifiAliens
A well read (you can tell 'who's who' in the vocalizations) morality tale along environmental lines. (Hopefully) poses questions over whether environment users become monsters either in its use or protection and how much pollution is 'acceptable.'
Enough action to hold your attention as well as good development of characters. Relationships are explored enough for the listener to care about them and hope they all survive to the end.
Somewhat lengthy for a north american listener, but Doctor Who always tended to be.
While it's not actually a character in the story line, this reviewer would have liked more involvement with the TARDIS.
Stars for good vocalization, plot and character development, believable character interaction, description of setting, and story conclusion and wrap-up.
    A little let down.
I misunderstood the summary of this story. I thought that David & Billie were going to be reading for their respective characters. I was disappointed that they didn't. I wish this was made really clear in the summary. I am in the middle of the story. It is good. Shaun Dingwall does a great job.

    Terrifying journey to Danger!
Having this title on VHS and DVD formats, was was interested in its audio book rendition. What a fantastic narrative piece, ably realised by one time companion William Russel who played Ian Chesterson oppersite William Hartnell's 1st Dr Who. It is interesting to note the story is not exact to the tv version which for me is all the better as the characterisations are wholly fleshed out and William Russells 1st Dr vocals is a gem to be behold, not so the Dalek voices, but i quibble.
Thoroughly enjoble i recommend all Dr Who titles read by William Russel for an airing. Superb 10/10
    Exterminate!
My first Doctor Who audio book and what a treat! Especially the first half of the story is very entertaining and is able to perform a smooth transition from Victorian England to a far away foreign planet, inhabited by ... DALEKS! I believe this is the Doctors first encounter with his archenemies. A must read for any Doctor Who fan.

Fantastic Listen for Doctor Who Fans
In his final adventure before his very first regeneration, the Doctor and his companions, Polly and Ben, land at the South Pole. They are greeted by the discovery of a new planet, eerily similar to Earth, from which the famed "Cybermen" appear. The Cybermen are determined to take over the station and will kill anyone in their way. However, the stakes are raised even higher when their failing planet, Mondas, becomes the centre of a plan to blow it up.
I've been a Doctor Who fan for so long that I'm not even sure when I became such a fan. The show has been around for fifty years now and I haven't been around for quite that long, so it's been around all my life. The great thing about being a fan of audiobooks is that I can listen to radio plays and novels on audio, especially while I'm eagerly awaiting the next episode of Doctor Who on tv.
William Hartnell's appearance as the First Doctor is way before my time, but I've seen some tv episodes with him and I decided he'd be a good place to start reading some of the novels. In "Doctor Who and the Tenth Planet" this is his first regeneration and the first appearance of the Cybermen. It's a great adventure and it's fun to see the interaction between the Doctor, his companions, Ben and Polly, and how they get out of the mess. It's interesting that in all the adventure the sonic screwdriver is only vaguely mentioned once, as Ben tells a crew member that he has a "screwdriver" that may help deactivate the bomb!! For a lot of this episode the Doctor is in failing health and it's really up to Polly and Ben to save the day.
The audio is fantastic. It's narrated by Anneke Wills, who plays Polly, and I really felt like I could be back in the 1960's and listening to this play on the radio. I loved the sound effects used and the interview with Anneke Wills at the end was a fantastic bonus. She talks about William Hartnell's failing health during the filming of the actual episode and the regeneration.
If you're a Doctor Who fan I strongly suggest listening to this one on audio. It was a super fun episode and great on audio.
    The first Doctors last adventure.
What made the experience of listening to Doctor Who the most enjoyable?
That I was listing to history in the making. The first time the Doctor regenerates into a different person.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who?
The first appearance of the Cyberman. The regeneration of the Doctor.
Which character as performed by Anneke Wills was your favorite?
    Her Polly was great.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    When the Doctor was dying.
    Any additional comments?
It was sad that William Hartnel had to leave the show. But his legacy is that the show is still popular and still going. No smal part because of him.
The end of the 1st Doctor
I really enjoyed this audio title, the acting naturally is top class due to most of it been taken from the tv print. At this point it is very evident that Bills health was failing him due to his absence totally in one episode.

    Publisher's Summary:
The Doctor has adopted many guises in his time, but to be hailed as the great god Zeus is a bit of a shock. Yet this is exactly what happens when the TARDIS lands on the plains of Asia Minor, not far from the city of Troy. Taken to the Greek camp by Achilles, the Doctor is introduced to Agamemnon and Odysseus and forced to admit his less¿than¿godlike status. He is then given just two days to come up with a strategy for defeating the Trojans.
Meanwhile, Steven and Vicki have been taken prisoner by the other side. The Trojans are convinced that Vicki is a spy, and to prove her loyalty she must concoct a plan to defeat the Greeks! Like the Doctor, she has just two days to do it.
Luckily for the Doctor, a certain someone has already devised a scheme for beating the Trojans. Even if the wooden horse was invented for a piece of fiction written in the eighth century, it still works. As the opposing forces come face to face in a climactic battle, there are dangers aplenty for both Steven and Vicki. By the time the TARDIS moves away again, it will have both lost and gained a crew member.

    Myths come true.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would. Anyone who likes myths and fantasy sports.
What other book might you compare Doctor Who to and why?
Doctor Who and the Romans. Doctor Who and the Gunfighters.
Have you listened to any of the narratorss other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes I have. Peter Purvas is a great narator.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Myths come to life.
    Any additional comments?
This was a great story full of enough humor and drama and action to make anybody enjoy this book.
A cheeky yet intelligent look at legend
With the Doctor more associated with other worlds, future societies and daleks, the historial stories are often sadly overlooked.
This one is an absolute gem. Paying reverent tribute to the Greeky myths, this one has a lot to recommend: humour, drama and emotion. You don't need to know your Illiad or your Shakespeare but if you do, you'll delight in the way the writers have fleshed out the characters and story, making this a more historical interpretation of legend.
Best of all, this audio version flows nicely in the mind, with the narration covering everything nicely without affecting the pace or leaving the listener confused.
Also, given the change to the Tardis' line-up, this is an essential story for all Doctor Who fans. And as nothing but a few paltry clips survive, it's this or the novelisation.

Where does Doctor Who rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
it ranks the second best, only the slightest millimeter behind 12 doctors 12 stories.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who?
i like any scene with the cybermen. there voices are perfect
    Which scene was your favorite?
i don't exactly know. but like i said, the cybermen are fantastic
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
it made me gasp in horror at the idiocy of bbc's decision to earase it, or any other doctor who story, for that matter
    Any additional comments?
all doctor who is amazing. exept the sixth doctor. he's just blghfrtfh.
    Classic Cyberman story.
A real classic. The Cybermen will become to Second Doctor, what the Daleks were to First Doctor. His big bad guy. They will make three more appearances in Troughton's series, while the Daleks will only appear twice. The second Doctor will make one more trip to the moon one more time after this. The story Seeds of Death. A great story and great audio.
Cyberman voices detract from the story
Harder for me to follow because of the Cyberman voices but I enjoyed the Doctor and Jamie as always. I'll have to listen to it a few more times.
    What the Doctor ordered
This is a fantastic balance of original audio track tied in with narration. It works surprisingly well. The original audio is a little...deteriorated, but otherwise I felt like 10 again, which is when I first saw the episode.
    The Cybermen's 2nd Adventure
This cheeky little romp sees the Cybermen make their second ever appearance menacing astronauts on a moonbase. There is so much to love here, with great performances and the combination of your imagination with Frazer Hines' narration probably creates a far more engrossing image than the original TV show!

Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Dark Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
Egil and Nix, the hard-fighting, harder-drinking fortune hunters of The Hammer and the Blade and A Discourse in Steel, are back to test their mettle and tempt fickle fate.
Fantasy fiction has long welcomed adventurous rogues: Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, George R. R. Martin's Dunk and Egg, and Scott Lynch's Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen have all made their marks. In his Egil & Nix series, New York Times best-selling author Paul S. Kemp introduces a daring new duo to the ranks of fantasy fame - or is it infamy?
Nix is a nimble thief with just enough knowledge of magic to get into serious trouble. Egil is the only priest of a discredited god. Together they seek riches and renown, but somehow it is always misadventure and mayhem that find them - even in the dive bar they call home. And their luck has yet to change.
All Nix wants to do is cheer Egil up after a bout of heartbreak. And, of course, strike it so rich that they need never worry about their combined bar bill. But when the light-fingered scoundrel plunders a tomb and snatches mysterious golden plates covered in runes, the treasure brings terrifying trouble. Pursued by an abomination full of ravenous hunger and unquenchable wrath, Egil and Nix find all they hold dear - including their beloved tavern - in dire peril. To say nothing of the world itself.

    Paul's done it again
I just finished it last night. I've always thought of Egil and Nix second rate characters/books compared to Erevis Cale and his books... Not the case anymore after finishing Conversation in Blood, that ending was epic, the whole progression of the story and trying to figure out where it was leading to was amazing. I only wish there was more to read, thank you for such an awesome book. You won't be disappointed in this book, in fact you'll be left wanting more and there's no cliffhanger.
    THANKS AGAIN PAUL!
Thanks again for another installment of our foul mouthed heroes. Keep it up! Can't wait to hear from Cale!
    Interesting idea, okay execution.
If I could do it again, I would check it out from the library but wouldn't buy it.

    Beautiful girl surrounded by vampires!
This book was good but I hate cliffhangers. I knew it was going to happen so I am just going to move on to the next book in the series. You see, this book was fun to read and I expect the next one will be too.
    Courage Runs Scared
Thought it was some what a good start to a storyline. Two sexy vamps on opposing sides vying for one woman. Some mystery, who's telling the truth, who's good and who's bad?The narrator on the other hand, needs more practice narrating.I would suggest actually reading this book to make it better. The narrator, knocks off some points on the book.
    The Blood Feud of Vampires
I really enjoyed this story by author W.J. May and its a perfect story. I've been waiting on a different type of vampire story because they all seem to just be all alike. I must say that May has done this. This isn't your typical vampire story. I love W.J. May's imagination and it shows how great her writing is when you red/listen to this story. The characters are all interesting along with the background. She gives you just enough information that you easily understand what's going on. I can't wait for the next story in this series, Night Watch. I am really looking forward to what happens next with Kallie, Liam, and Caleb. It seems that when a wreck happened Kallie's da died and someone turned him into a vampire. It just so happens that Liam and Caleb were both at the scene. There's a huge feud between red and blue eyed vampires. As soon as Kallie's dad sees Liam he wants to kill him and said Liam is the one that made him a vampire. I don't believe that Detective Liam Steel turned him. I definitely recommend you read/ listen to this story. It was filled with intrigue, a great plot, twists and turns, along with a cliffhanger.
Narrator Angel Clark's performance was really good. I didn't have any trouble identifying the characters throughout the story. She kept me immersed from start to finish. Overall, a perfect 5 star rating!

Martha can take care of herself
The Pirate Loop is one more Ten/Martha adventure just like from Season 3. It's in character and easy to play it across your memory as if it were from the tv series. It's thrilling and funny and interesting all at the same time. This is one of my favorite Martha stories, and I listen to it again and again.
    Brilliant!
this story, The Pirate Loop, is a very interesting story indeed. The author did a nice job of leaving in the Doctor Who Mythos and the narrator was outstanding. Freeman did a beautiful job of even capturing David Tennant voice patterns and inflections throughout the reading.
The story held me in suspense as you didn't quite know where things were going to end up. A typical Doctor Who story. overall, I'm glad I purchase this book through Audible.
    More for kids
As an adult, I love the Doctor Who audio books, even though they say they are aimed at kids. This one, with badger headed creatures some how seemed more child like. Freema Agyeman also lacks the ability to do the many different voices that other narrators are capable of. She does a decent 10th doctor though.
Interesting Story And A Great Performance, But...
Ms. Agyeman is one of my favorite companions of the Doctor, and she does a great job in bringing life to this quirky and interesting story (which starts a little slowly but picks up its pace quickly). However, I think "cheese and pineapple sticks" is embedded in my brain for eternity... :-)
