Members Reviews:

not a stand alone

I loved this story. Wish it could have been longer and more developed. But a great, . Love the authors writing style.

Must read/listen to book 1

Great read

Pretty Kitten by May Sage was a good book. Dantes mate Claire has now been turned. Now there are many people who either want her dead or to lock her in a lab. There are also some people who want to get their hands on her baby nephew, who caused her turning. This was a great quick and fast paced read.

Purrfection

Book 2 did not disappoint, I could not stop listening because I needed to know the outcome.

I am always wary of listening to book series with the same narrator because i have now already associated Kai and Wen with Aisling and Raygan, but as usual there was no issue with this narration.

Kai and Wen gave life Clarissa and Daunte and there was no overshadowing.

I love this supernatural family May Sage has created for us and look forward to the next listen.

The story continues

Would you consider the audio edition of Pretty Kitten to be better than the print version?

did not read the print version

What about Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross s performance did you like?

Kai and Wen are a great team. They play off of each other and bring the story alive with their subtle touches.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think it should have been combined with the first book, it's the continuation of the story, why not just put it together.

Omg

A great short read. Love the narrators, they brought these dynamic characters to life. I would have loved for it to be longer with the battle more detailed. It was over so fast. Too fast, but you know what they say, all good books are. Go grab your copy, get comfy and get sucked into the story.

Loved it

I really enjoyed listening to this audio version of this story. The narrator does a lovely job of bringing the characters to life. It's sad that we won't get to hear anymore of the story's, hopefully this is not the case.

But beneath the cold façade beats the heart of a vampire torn between love and hate, ripped in two directions by a single ethereally beautiful female - his fated phantom mate.

Driven by her phantom instincts, Isla used a spell to make her solid in order to deceive the vampire who killed her sister's demon mate and have revenge on him, condemning him with a single kiss to become a phantom too. But her plan took an unexpected turn when she fell in love with him, and with her new life, and the night she betrayed him shattered both of their hearts. Now, he lives to make her suffer through their connection, one that is fading with them as they begin to slip into the phantom world, and she must face the monster she created if she is to save herself and the vampire she still loves.

With a demon from Grave's past determined to destroy him and everything he holds dear, and the clock ticking down to their inevitable doom, can he and Isla overcome their past and their pride to work together to secure the future they both desire deep in their hearts? 5 Stars

Hunted by the King of Death is one of my favorite stories from this series. This is Grave and Isla's story it is not pretty because can be revenge an evil thing. If you have been reading Heaton's Eternal Mates or her Vampire Erotic Theater Series then you have heard of Grave the fearless leader of the Vampire's the Preux Chevaliers first Legion. He has always been looked as this evil Vampire with no remorse or regrets. We get the real Grave in Haunted, it's not what I was expecting. Grave loves deeply, he will take the blame of things if it will ease his brother or cousins burden. Isla and Grave have a long history together, it started out beautiful but then turned ugly. Both of their hearts were broken. Centuries earlier Isla went after Grave for revenge but she ended up falling in love with him but she walked away and took his heart with her. When an old enemy of Grave shows himself, Isla will have to work with Grave to save many lives.

Heaton takes us on an emotional roller coaster, I absolutely love Grave, he has been through so much hurt and the most upsetting part is he had no idea why Isla did what she did to him. So be prepared with tissues when you read Grave's story. Haunted is an emotional roller coaster of surprises.

The characters from Vampire Erotic Theater are in this story, since Snow and Antonie are Grave's family. We will also see some other characters from previous Eternal Mates Series. So if you have read any of Eternal Mates or Vampire Erotic Theater stories than I suggest you read Haunted by King of Death, you will not be disappointed. Happy Reading!!!!

Not a bad read.

I finished this one last night and even though it is not as good as some of the others, it still isn't a bad read.

Ok

It was pretty good. The idea was interesting and the execution was almost just as good.

My only real hang up was with the poor editing and need of spellcheck and a proofreader.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of excellent editing and proofreading, it can make or break an author's livelihood.

Other than that I liked this story.

Twist in life

I think we all at some point or another, have looked at our lives and thought that it is a bit boring. While this is not an inspirational story of how to make changes to improve your situation, it is no less entertaining. However, what is inspirational about the book, is the the woman is an ordinary person like you and me. She does not change into some mysterious and power creature or undergoes a major transformation. She simply remains who she is. It therefore simply encourages you to dream, no matter how unrealistic or ambitious it might be. Because without our dreams we are nothing.

It was really well written and I can't wait to read more of her books I loved this

This book had my interest all the way through. It was really well written and I can't wait to read more of her books I loved this one

this is completely half-a**ed

Good grief, I feel like I just read half a story. This writer obviously did not sit down and outline, make a plot, or create a story board. Everything was missing. Between holes there was no apt descriptions of the characters, their dragons, their emotions, etc etc. It does not take a lot of talent to add descriptors to a mythical creature. I got the colors and whether one was graceful and the other powerful. Hello? How big were they? The size of a horse, a car, a football stadium? What did the dragons look like? Whiskers? Eyes? Tales, talons, teeth? Fire breathing? If you get the idea that there is an emptiness here, that the reader has no idea what the dragons even looked like, then you got the gist of this story. It is hollow and vague.

Members Reviews:

My 1st written review

I loved it! It wasn't too long,; Had great characters & a nice , not too complex , or simple plot!

Another great Tristan James/Jordan Hawk duo!

Another tremendously sweet, full of magic and adventure, wonderful story from Jordan L Hawks hexworld!

I think I love the variety of familiars the best. Theyre not quite just shifters but they have those elements. I thought it was a lovely tool, the way the author used the bias against wolves as a way to demonstrate another type of bigotry. Its all the same, no matter the originating belief.

Jordan is an amazing writer and this was really fun!

Highly recommended to fans of the series, but Id read them in order to really enjoy this, though it could probably(?) be read on its own.

5 of 5 stars

Audio

Listening to this reminded me of watching old Christmas movies or detective shows from the 50s black and white full of grit and sort of noir. Tristan James hit the tone spot on! He gave the thugs this fabulous New York accent and managed to convey the hodge podge of accents that are Roland and Gus. He was melodramatic and perfect! I was entranced! This is a wonderful story and so good for the season! Highly recommended!

6 of 5 stars

Cant get enough of this series

4.5 stars. What a sweet quick read. I would have liked to have seen the bonding ceremony as that would have really wrapped it up. Mr. James as always does an amazing job!

A Lovely expantion of the Hexworld universe

The first Hexworld book, Hexbreaker, was the first audiobook I had ever read. Tristan James's narration was like magic, forever changing me reading habits and introducing me to a whole new genre- M/M. He is a master in accents, and you can see how much he put into his narration, understanding of the characters and time period.

Jordan L. Hawk has constructed a fantastic supernatural world that is so very accurate, believable and intricate. That is the most amazing thing about this series, and this short Christmas story expands on this world she created and brings new aspects of it to life.

This in my most recommended book series, and I implore all my friends to give it a try.

Roland and Gus are interesting side characters in the Hexworld, they show the non-police characters (unlike the main story and the two other shorts so far published). The mystery of the missing Hexes Gus is tracking is unfolded slowly, with new twists and turns. The story delves into the fear and discrimination against Familiars in that culture, and the many uses for Hexes. It is also sweet, romantic and sexy, without being cliché.

this is not only a great Christmas read, but also a taste of the wonderful Hexworld Jordan created and maybe, a want to read more about it.

Title: Last Minion Standing

Author: Eve Langlais

Publisher: Audible Studios

Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 18 votes

Genres: Romance, Paranormal

Publisher's Summary:

Do you have what it takes to win?

All I said was I needed a minion. The next thing I know, I'm embroiled in the reality show from Hell with cameras following me everywhere. But who needs a contest when I'm ready to declare a winner - and get freaky - the moment I meet Drake? As soon as I meet him, shirtless and shoeless, in low-slung jeans, I fantasize about the many ways he can serve me - especially in bed.

But Drake, the super-sexy dragon shifter, is after more than a chance to work alongside me in my battle to capture evil souls. He also wants to win my heart. But love is for weaklings, and no matter how much he teases me, I will not give in without a fight - good thing he brought some cuffs.

Members Reviews:

Book AWESOME, narrative so so.

I thought the book was funny and Hot. Even Langlais is a master of snide humor. The only bad remarks I have are with the narrative. If you hire a male and female to read the book, LET THEM READ THE MALE AND FEMALE PARTS!!!! It always throws me when a book has the female and male read both parts. The book was ALMOST ruined by them doing this. Only Eve Langlais writing and sharp wit saved the book.

Book is better than audio

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would changed the narrators who did nothing for the book, the book itself was good.

What do you think your next listen will be?

A Magic Mayhem audio or something new.

What didnt you like about Ava Erickson and Josh Goodman s performance?

Both Ava Erickson and Josh Goodman's performance lack passion, excitement intrigue. They were both flat with little emotion. Putting it simply the characters were dead.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

A good Narrator.

Naughty and witty

Naughty, witty, steamy, sexy read!

I really liked the characters Sally and Drake. Both overly confident and a bit brash. Their banter was highly entertaining.

The two narrators brought the story to life wonderfully.

A great snarky drama filled love story

A wonderful mix of paranormal romance, drama & mystery with a dash of reality tv show cheesiness.. As a always the characters (mostly anglo looking) are up to something in the paranormal world & the lead female character will find her match.. Worth a credit?... Sure.. Very enjoyable ..

Wonder Woman has nothing on a wife

Let me start by saying i am an Eve Langlais-aholic so my review might be a tad biased. Just a tad bit. Sally was on a hunt for a side kick a.k.a. mininion. So when she came upon a drop dead shifter hunk by the name of Drake she could not catch her breathe. Between Sally and her bff Jazz these two scheming chicks were always up to something. Let me tell you I had my stomach hurting from laughing and snot running down my face. But hawty, the sex was scorching. Now, who would would have thought Medusa would be one of your nemesis...but hey anything is possible. Especially when you are a half bad azzz demon and human who is a demon bounty hunter who know their worth. Drake knew the moment he laid eyes on Sally she was his mate it was just a matter of time before he made her his. This was the first audio book I listen to and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend. This book has laughter, sex, enemies and a can of whoop oops!..You get my drift.

WOW!! Story and Narrator - WOW!!!!!

I am not good at reviews but, this storyline and BLAIR UNDERWOOD - WOW!!!!! Blair's voice is all that and infinity*infinity. The story is good but he made it even better. His voice characterizations were on the mark.

Absolutely Loved the Narration

wow, this sucked me right in from the first sentence. This was a quick enjoyable listen. It went by too quickly. The book is just like others within the series without any surprises. However, the narration made it a good listen.

Blair Underwood is a great narrator

Im getting hooked to these 1001 dark nights novellas. This one was particularly enjoyable because Blair Underwood is a great narrator (I would hope so since hes a good actor). He gets the Italian accents down good and injects enough emotion into the narration to make it engaging.

Excellent novella!

This book is well written and with Blair Underwoods masculine and very sexy voice, what could go wrong?

Blair Underwood

Blair Underwood- can he just narrate everything now?!! He was fantastic and made the story scintillating!
