    Members Reviews:
Things seem to be abit out of kilter on this one..
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Sure. Most audio books are, this one being no exception. Interesting concept that most of us have thought about at some point in our lives. What do you do when you know the end is coming, and how do others deal as well. It certainly gives the listener pause to consider their own potential response.
What did you like best about this story?
Each story arc had it's own uniqueness. Interesting plot device here so it all runs coincidentally. Not one thing to pull out...the story needs to be viewed as an entire package as I see it.
Have you listened to any of Duane Sharps other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, and I was impressed. Had a Luke Daniel like quality. I want to hear more from him.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    Perhaps.
    Any additional comments?
This one had some religous overtones that were abit off putting at first, but made sense as the story unfolded. On balance, this is a unique, powerful story, maybe abit too "small " for the subject matter at hand, but worthwhile nonetheless. Recommended, with those reservations to be considered.

    Rogue River Noveella series
The novella series has alternate stories written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliott. Although classified as romance-suspense, they are excellent suspense stories with little or no romance. Kate Rudd narrates superbly.
    Love these short stories.
Love the plot and characters, just with they were longer. ! though. Sigh!!!. A+++++++ highly recommend!!
Great book #2 in the series
Another great read, compelling characters. A small town with big problems. Plus there's something brewing in the late sheriff's death.
    Getting Better
I am really looking forward to the next book. Wonderful suspense with each chapter. Great read, D Page
    Good mystery
The mystery was good and yes I recommend this book to people who like this author. Be prepared though to delve into some relationship problems that people in high stress jobs face. It was handled well, but I wasn't prepared to read about that in a murder mystery.

    Unusual and suspenseful
An interesting and unusual post apocalyptic audiobook. The world created by the author is unusual, innovative but a bit hard to get into at first. The cannibals, Amish, photosynthetic people and the reclusive techno cave-dwelling immortals were all a bit confusing and took some sorting out but once I had everything straight, I really enjoyed it. It is a fascinating world that has a complex mix of societies and they all believe that theirs is the right way to live. The main protagonists, Tula and Levi, are from very different societies and the development of their relationship is convoluted and heartwarming. This book had suspense, intrigue, romance and an original storyline. The narrator did a great job of highlighting the differences between the characters and expressed emotions well. I received this audiobook at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
    Another Unique Apocalypse
Botanicaust is a rather unique post apocalypse world, after some botanical plague nearly destroyed all crops on earth. The book opens some unknown time after the apocalypse, but I'm guessing more than a couple of generations (there do not appear to be any people who witnessed it first hand left). At any rate, some of the characters have some knowledge of what they were told caused it, but that does come into question in the book.
Humanity in the area of the novel has segmented into several groups. Their are several groups of technically capable people, who see the rest of the uncivilized world as "the cannibals". This is based on their knowledge that there was a lot of cannibalism post apocalypse, so they just have the mindset that everyone non-tech are cannibals. The non tech world, as we start to learn however, is not as simple as "all cannibals". We learn early on that Levi is from a small Amish like community of non-cannibals. And much further into the book Levi himself is surprised to learn that they weren't the only non-tech non-cannibals in the wasteland, and discover there are others living and trading that aren't just wanting to catch and eat them. Yes, there are cannibals, but I don't believe the problem is anywhere near as wide spread as the characters all thought.

    Members Reviews:
My Enemy's Son, Bk. 2 of The Two Moons of Rehnor series, the story continues.
I got hooked on this series after reading the first book. A little tongue in cheek, a little comic book adventures, heroes, villains, and Prince and Princesses, what can be wrong. Good story telling, enough humor to lighten up the darkness, and just a great sci-fi adventure with characters to both love and hate. They must be read in sequence or will make little sense to the readers.
My only downside, is as the series continues I am finding too many misprints, editing issues, almost to the point of distraction. I have recently started Book 10 and am still hooked however.
    Mesmerizing
This book is even more fascinating than the first.
Senya has reached an understanding of his purpose. He realizes that he needs to accept his destiny and plunges into a controlled and determined plan of action. He transforms the planet Rozari from a thousand year old nuclear wasteland into an Arizona style vacation land and research center.
There is more development of Katie's character. She is an ambitious officer in the Planetary Alliance "space navy", and has been promoted to the rank of commander. All seems well in her life, until she is kidnapped while on shore leave at a space base. Then her life gets so intermeshed with intrigue and strange adventures, that it is impossible to put the book down.
Many interesting new characters are introduced, and old characters are fleshed out even more.
Senya and Katie's lives are intertwined again in an unexpected way. Wonderful story!
    Unique, Bold, Imaginitive!
A totally refreshing view of sci-fi fantasy; blending current culture into the distant future. The character development is unique and leaves you wanting to know more of their stories, and enough sex and violence to not advise allowing small children to read it. Fun and very imaginative. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.
I just don't know if it can get better
I enjoyed book 1 and really looked forward to book 2. WOW It just keeps getting better. I finished this book on Friday and just can't get enough. I can tell you it was a great read, I can tell you it was surprising, I can tell you how much you will enjoy it but until you pick it up you will not know how impossible it is to put down. Katie and Senya, What a love story and folks I don't read romance. This series will stay with you for a while. I have already started of Blood and Angels and will let you know. It won't take for me to read it because I can't put the damn thing down. Where is 4,5,6,7,8 and 9?
    My Enemy's Son
I enjoyed reading this ook. The storyline was interesting. Character development was good.

    Predictable
This book is my least favorite by this author. The story was predictable and cheesy at times.
Can't Rave About This One Enough...
First book from this author...what a great introduction! Loved this story line, great suspense, and character development. I loved how the story unfolded. Didn't want to stop listening, couldn't wait for the truth to come out...but didn't want it to end.
My only two critiques of this story would be the narration - both narrators did a great job...I am just not sold on the POV narration - it takes you away from the story. I like the interlaced narration where the male does all of the male voices, the female does the female voices or just a single narrator. This wasn't much of a distraction for the most part, but I'd get engrossed and then a new voice comes along.
The second thing is the "heroine"...she worked my nerves to the fullest at times. I wouldn't trust her with the time of day...she blabs everything! Haha haha! I love books that evokes strong emotions...this one does...my heart bleeds for Jeb...but, I don't know if I wanted Rachel for him.
I purchased this thinking this was a series, but according to the author's website it's a standalone novel. That's disappointing, I would have liked to revisit some of these characters again. Overall a great book...I would definitely recommend.
    Exciting and entertaining. Great Narration!
Wow, had me guessing all the way through. Great romance mystery book.
I liked Rachel quite a bit. She said what she wanted to say, no beating around the bush with her. I liked Jeb too. He was a great character, especially after what he went through. They made a good couple. There was one sex scene, mildly written.
The story line and plot was great! I really liked it. It was such a good mystery, whodunit. Lots of stuff happening all the way through. I enjoyed that the way the story unfolded it was so out in the open but kept you guessing. There were a lot of players in this mystery.
As for the narration, it was really good. This book was written partly in the first person from Rachel's POV and then in the third person for all the other characters. This is my first listen by Alexander Cendense. I really liked his voice, quite sexy. Tanya Eby did a great job as usual. The men sound like men and everyone gets their own distinct voice.

Basically the whole story of the first book
This is the first book told in Helena side of the story. So it is not very interesting it is not anything new
this is just a recap of the previous books
not worth the money. Save your money for the other books. Sad i wasted the credit.
Thanks for a recap of the whole first book. Not.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If I could have learned something truly new about the story. It's the same story told from Helena's point of view. Redundant.
Has The Helena Diaries - Trouble in Mudbug turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. The first book was a light and fun read. But nothing deep enough to expect a companion book.
Have you listened to any of Johanna Parkers other performances before? How does this one compare?
    No.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I was hoping to learn new stuff about the story and was disappointed.
    Any additional comments?
Going to ask for my money back on this one.
    it explained a lot
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
it was good mainly because I love to listen to johanna parker
If youve listened to books by Jana DeLeon before, how does this one compare?
it was kind of the same book just from a different persons eyes
Do you think The Helena Diaries - Trouble in Mudbug needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
    sure there cute
    NOT AS GOOD
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I won't recommend this to a friend. I feel that this story was misrepresented in what it had to offer. There was no secret behind the scenes of book one, therefore, this book does not provide any new information.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jana DeLeon? Why or why not?
Absolutely, in fact I hope to get to read all the books in the series. I just don't feel that this book was needed.
    Any additional comments?
I wouldn't spend a credit for this book and wish I had not. But live and learn.

    Titan turns up the HEAT!
Would you consider the audio edition of Winters Heat to be better than the print version?
Fantastic adaptation of the book! I felt like I was living the scenes with the characters.
What other book might you compare Winters Heat to and why?
I love all Cristin Harber's books. It's hard to compare her to anyone because her writing style is so unique. The closest I can compare are to Maya Banks KGI series.
What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
His voice inflections really drew me in. I really enjoyed this narrator.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    YES!
    Any additional comments?
Fantastic audiobook! Now I'm ready for more! :D
    Loved this book!
If you could sum up Winters Heat in three words, what would they be?
Audiobook listened to and reviewed by Kim
for Read Your Writes Book Reviews
I've read Winters Heat previously and completely loved the book. When Cristin Harber put out a call for an audiobook review I was totally game. Then I thought, "Crap. I don't like audiobooks. They bore me and the narration is cheesy." Thus, I'm the perfect person to review an audiobook, right? Yes, no. I honestly have no idea.
I loved this book from the start with its larger than life Alpha hero who has a heart of gold and risks his life to protect the woman he's waited his whole life for. The heroine isn't too bad herself. Mia seems like a damsel in distress although she's anything but. She's strong with wounds of her own shes trying to overcome. She's a survivor. The secondary characters in the book, from Colby's mother to his team members are great. The book gives you hot love scenes, intense fighting, and some comic relief.
What other book might you compare Winters Heat to and why?
Winters Heat and Cristin Harber's books are in a league all their own.
What about Jeffrey Kafers performance did you like?
I think Jeffrey Kafer did a wonderful job. He completely kept my interest. Never once did I find myself wandering off into the unknown. He was able to voice multiple characters. I think he nailed the voice for Jared, leader of Team Titan.

    Publisher's Summary:
In the fifth book in the New York Times best-selling Walk Series, Alan Christensen finally reaches his destination.
A year earlier, Seattle advertising executive Alan Christoffersen lost everything he held dear - his beloved wife was killed in a terrible accident; his partner stole his business from him; and the bank foreclosed on his home when he couldnt pay the mortgage. With seemingly nothing left to live for, Alan set out to walk from Seattle to the farthest point on the map, Key West. And now, after walking more than two thousand miles on a journey filled with surprises, dangers, and revelations, he approaches his destination - and the most important decision of his life.
Romantic, suspenseful, and deeply spiritual, the Walk Series has been hailed by critics as "intriguing" (Deseret Morning News), "unconventional" (Publishers Weekly), and "definitely a journey worth taking" (Booklist). As Alan approaches Key West and the end of his quest, the revelations continue.

    Book Five--
I'm not sure why Audible does not have this book linked to the series, but it is Book Five in a 5-book series that begins with The Walk.
I loved this series--I listened to the final four books consecutively--I just could not stop until the journey was complete. I was so involved, I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction! It is well written and uplifting. And the journey's conclusion was sweet and satisfying.
The author narrates all five books in the series, so I liked the consistency of the same tone and voice throughout. I highly recommend the whole series--and listening to them in order. It is definitely worth the time and credits you will invest--and I hope you enjoy the books as much as I did!!
    Enjoyable book
I had not read a Richard Paul Evans book in years so when I saw this new book on Audible I decided to get it. I did not realize that it was the last book in a series of five books. But the author provided enough background; I quickly got the highlights of the prior books in the series. In a small way this book reminded me of John Steinbecks Travels with Charley. Our hero Alan Christoffersons wife dies in an accident, his partner steals all their clients from their boutique ad agency in Seattle and starts his own company, the bank forecloses on his home, and his automobiles are repossessed. Alan decides to walk across the continental United States by the longest route, Seattle, Washington to Key West, Florida in an attempt to deal with his grief and decided what to do with his life. He meets interesting people on this walk and lessons are learned along the way. This book opens with Alan stopping his journey at the boarder of Florida to fly to Pasadena as his father has had a heart attack. He stays at his father house and visits him at the hospital. Alan discovers a genealogy book his father is working on about their family history. He reads this in the evening and discusses it with his father on their visits. His father dies leaving everything to Alan including a letter he is to read when he reaches the farthest point of Key West. The book is mostly about his return to Florida and his continuing trek to Key West. He continues to meet interesting people including a discussion about God with a man handing out flyers for a local church. This is an enjoyable book and leaves one thinking of things greater than oneself.

    Don't waste the credit
Not a bad idea for a book just poorly executed. While the story had potential at times the climax was very non climatic. The story line just never matured into anything other than an idea that wasn't fully realized.

Twitch was born into the system: the system of Society members and lower designates. Unfortunately for her, she belongs to the latter group. Lower designates are tracked for a task and expected to do what they're told, when they're told, from birth on. Twitch has never known anything different. She lives her life from day to day, working at the Pre Ward, trudging home to the complex at night, following the rules because to defy them means imprisonment, or even death.
Still, when her only real friend mysteriously disappears, Twitch asks one too many questions. She's caught in a trap from which she can't escape her fate in the hands of a mad man. But someone notices Twitch - someone cares enough to risk it all to save her. She discovers another world, where secret plans are being laid to overthrow the system and liberate the lower designates. And Twitch has a key role to play. Or does she?
Who do you believe when your life is filled with lies? What is the truth? Twitch will have to trust someone. Or die trying.

    Compelling Read
Twitch had me engaged from the first page. I was totally hooked when Twitch's story overlapped with Jack Blaine's previous novel Helper 12 in a scene where Benna's last moments before escape are juxtaposed to the beginning of Twitch's story.
Again, we are in a world that doesn't seem too far from a scary future where people are relegated to specific "functions." And yet at other times, the echoes of how our society actually does treat some as if they are less than human is present as well.
Twitch's narration lets us see how difficult it is to break with the expectations that are so ingrained that we often don't see how we have been "programmed" to behave and interact. She is very real in her struggles to understand and to change.
And the mystery of how this Liberation organization came to be and of how these characters got involved is slowly revealed so that the novel compels readers to want to read "just one more chapter" before putting the book down for awhile. And of course we want to pick it up as soon as possible to find out how Twitch's situation will resolve itself.
Nice job, Jack Blaine. And I hope some of these minor characters will get their own stories told in future books that you create!
    Good follow up!
Loved Helper 12 - and this novel provides a nice link. I wish it were longer. I teach high school, so I am always on the hunt for books my kids will enjoy and will share with each other. This fits the bill!
A sequel just as absorbing as the earlier book
I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel to Blaine's Helper12. I was glad to learn more about, and follow a story focusing on, the character of Kris from the first book. As in Helper12, there was some unnecessary redundancy in the thoughts of the POV character, but again, this was a minor annoyance. The book's further exploration of the world and the additional characters made for another absorbing and enjoyable book.
    Attention Grabber
It was a spellbinding story that kept you from putting your book down. As I read it, I could well imagine this scenario playing out and couldn't wait to see what happened next.
    MUST read dystopian book
