An erotic romance...

This short story is set back in the 1920s. A young social-lite explores her sexual side. She meets up with a man she had gotten in an accident with (an artist and his friend) in the past. This story is well written. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. It's still a good book, just not my cup of tea. This is an erotic romance.

The author, Nancy Fraser wrote this story well, complete with plot and story-line. It is an original story. The narrator, P J Morgan delivered the story well complete with emotions and accents. This narrator did a good job.

loved it!

I loved this book but it was too short!! I want more! Jackson thinks he is not good enough for Portia. He loves her but cannot believe that she loves him. Portia wants him. She wants to have sex with him. She arranges a menage with another girl and Jackson. It sort of releases his strange feelings for her. Then she gets attacked by a crazy ex customer of the Sugar House. Jackson was not there to protect her. Will they get past it and be all that they can be?

PROTECTING PORTIA by Pavarti K Tyler

PROTECTING PORTIA by Pavarti K Tyler is the 2nd novella in The Sugar House series and it is not one to be missed. The writing is clean, sexy and downright hot as Hadies. I was surprised on how fast I picked up on the story line and how easy it was to follow what was happening with all the characters since I had not read the 1st novella SUGAR and SALT.

Jackson and Protia are the perfect blend of brokenness and strength. I found it refreshing to read about such strength in people that should be completely broken. What was most surprising was that the weak one in the relationship was not really who I thought it to be. Inner strength and finding the truth in the reality of the situation was a fun exploration.

PROTECTING PROTIA is a great read that I would most defiantly recommend. It is erotica and contains lots of different scenarios including F/F/M. The only thing I found wrong with PROTECTING PORTIA is that I wanted more from all the storylines. I will most defiantly pick up the 3rd book in the series due out later this year.

More than just sex

Protecting Portia is the second book in the Sugarhouse trilogy. The series is a true trilogy in the sense that the story continues throughout the three books, but each book places a slight emphasis on two of the characters. As I hadnât read the first book, it was a bit difficult to get into Protecting Portia. There are numerous characters and several storylines through each other. The book is very well written and that kept me going. Although the book is advertised as erotica, itâs not as explicit as most erotica is. The author concentrates on the feelings of the characters instead of the actual physical act of sex. There are definitely graphic sex scenes but the author writes these scenes is a classier manner than most erotica writers.

Tyler also deals with the horrific things that happened to the characters in the past in a dignified manner.

Good job w/ Taboo Subject

3.75 Overall.

The author did a good job with a controversial issue for some, the sexual desires of an ordained male, treating it in a fictional way and staying, pretty-much, on a surface level. She didnt treat it in a trite way and, simultaneously, used it only as a fictional trope for those who find desire in pretend taboo scenarios. She managed to maintain that hard balancing act. As a result, the story was a good one. She used raw, earthy language and had the main character, the ordained male, struggle with his desire for sex with women and his view of love and sex. She makes very clear what is ok for ordained people to consider sexually. Also, no explicitly religious paraphernalia or writing s are used in this story.

It was nice that this seemed to be a story between two older adults and not an 18-year old, which is the age of most main characters in erotica., especially the female. The sex was hot, though it was hard to imagine Dave as a priest while hearing the sex, especially since his being a priest wasnt a focus once the sex started. Dave was not the most likeable guy, but I also didnt find him completely unlikeable. But some listeners might see Dave as just a manipulative S.O.B. and a sick man. But I think the author, appropriately, makes it a bit more complicated than that. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger.

The performance was ok, but the narrator spoke to quickly at times which detracted from the level of sexiness. Twice, the narrator repeated a small part of a sentence over again as though an error had been made or sort of like a skip in a record.

Enjoyable

I throughly enjoyed this book. It is a quick little romance. The book is over at 45% and a free bonus romance story is after that. I've been reading through some short romances that always fell short of feeling real-feeling a connection. But not this one. This one was good. I was a tad annoyed with how uptight Natalie was but I loved how Kirk figured her out. However I did not like how he had a habit of calling her an idiot. Also some parts were so good and other parts were skimmed over. I had a hard time deciding whether I felt this book should have been fleshed out more or if it was a perfect little quicky as is. I'm thinking that for what it was intended to be it was just right. So there were things I didn't like about it but overall I couldn't stop reading it.

Free story included was better!

This gets a 3 star because honestly the freebie book at the end was better! LOL...that is so bad right? Natalie is way uptight and her character annoyed me. I mean she's not a virgin but acts like it no kiss until like the 3rd date? She obviously has some issues because of the way she acts. I didn't like her character. Kirk...I didn't necessarily like him either...he was kind of a jerk and wasn't exactly nice to her. Kept calling her idiot and moron a lot. This whole thing with these 2 left me confused mostly. This isn't a sweet story and if that's what your looking for move on. When these 2 had conversations I was left scratching my head like what did they just say? Uh wha? Confusing! Cant seem to talk straight forward. For example taking a whole page to get something across that could have been done in a sentence or 2. A lot of needless babble. This needed development really bad. Both the story and characters.

Trouble was the bonus story and lemme say yummy and hot and kinda funny! Duke was big and hot and owner of the bar. Lexi comes from a well to do family but is trying to do things on her own. He doesn't take her seriously at first and kinda laughs at her and calls her Blondie a lot. They have some major sexual chemistry and give into it. Lexi has a rule though. No repeats. They both fight it but its just inevitable they try it as a couple. Sexy story. Ending was sorta abrupt but that's alright.

The second novella is hot!

The first novella, about 46 pages on my kindle, is written fluently and has a good starting point in the main idea and sci-fi setting. However it lost me with the charcaters.

I really wanted to like this book but I kept wanting more depth. It was to predictable and almost repetitious. I feel there were so many different directions the characters could have gone in I was disappointed. Narrator did a good job.

Great quick book

I enjoyed the short book. Fell in love with the characters. Only two small parts of the book were drawn out but I read it in beginning to end straight without putting it down. The performance was fantastic also! Full of romance, steamy sex, drama and compassion.
