Mass hysteria - Twilight Zone style.

A better than average episode. Sufficiently creepy to invoke that special "Twilight Zone feeling". Recommended.

Not On Par With Other TZ Stories

Any additional comments?

I'm a big fan of most of what the Twilight Zone serves up in any medium, but this story lacked everything that makes the series special. The story's plot is weak, the characters aren't likable, and the twist ending is not a big surprise.

Pass on this one.

2.3 / 10.0

Unlikable.

Incredibly depressing and initially disjointed story. Voice acting is good, but does not save this episode. I'd give this one a miss.

Standard fare time travel story.

A standard fare time travel story without any real surprises. Shaughnessy's high voice does not work well as a audio drama character. I'd give this one a miss.

A man wakes up in a small town to find himself completely and inexplicably alone.

Members Reviews:

average

It takes me back to hear the intro to these dramas. this one is cliche and just average.

Harrowing.

Simple but effective. John Schneider does a good job depicting his character's increasing confusion and panic. Not a great episode, just very good.

No Man Is an Island

Where does Where Is Everybody? rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

This is only the third audiobook from Audible.com, but in comparison to others, I found it to be outstanding. It was clear, just the right length of time, and enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

First, I downloaded it because JOHN SCHNEIDER was the actor. Second, it was a Twilight Zone story, and I have watched all the episodes on TV several times over the years. This story, although dated by our 21st Century standards, was more of psychological study of socialization of man confined in a place without any sensory input. The first issue would have been how does man cope alone in space? That problem was a big one in the 1960s, but since that time, NASA and military have always incorporated teams in any space project involving time away from earth.

What about Stacy Keach and John Schneider s performance did you like?

Stacy narrates the story and pulls it back together in the end, just as Rod Serling did in the TV shows. His style is professional and his voice is perfect. JOHN SCHNEIDER portrayed a man scared to be alone, trying his best to search for companionship, and conveyed the meaning of "no man is an island." John has had an outstanding career as actor, singer, director, producer, and continually surprises me with his versatile style, eloquence, and resonant voice. He sang a few little ditties, but I wished he could have really belted out some songs in his own animated and unwavering style.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had seen this episode before on TV and knew exactly what was going to happen. However, it is still well-written for its time and although the science part of the experiment has been well-researched over several decades, scientists have found that man does need companionship and sensory deprivation can negatively impact anyone's psyche. One of the quotes in the beginning of the Stacy Keach narration should have been clearly stated as Jean Paul Sartre, but he was uncredited. That problem goes to the writing, not to the performances which were very well portrayed.

Any additional comments?

I would buy, rent, or download any media having to do with JOHN SCHNEIDER. This was a wonderful production of Twilight Zone series, and I have downloaded all the radio shows with John. I'm happy that the producers have made this series come alive on radio. The manner of acting made the listener "see" all the action and be a part of the description of all the details as the officer walked to the town, went in and out of business shops, and finally, feeling desperate as the officer contemplated his own demise.

Eerie but bad.

No spoilers: Not a good episode. The eeriness in the story is very "Twilight Zone", but the handling of the story is oh so bad. It's as if story lines are simply ignored or skipped. You'll know if you listen to it. May be in the writing and not in the production. Still, most annoying. Redeemed somewhat due to good voice acting. Ending is rushed (and bad).

I'd give this one a miss.

Old time radio at it's best

I loved the Twilight Zone TV show and have seen every episode dozens of times on DVD. It is a new experience to listen to it - one I really enjoyed and will be gradually working my way through all of these which are available on Audible.com.au. The radio show style is completely different to what I have listened to in the past and I found myself smiling a lot. Not sure why though. Mute was typically weird and 100% enjoyable.

OK story. Lacking a bit of urgency.

Pretty good core story. A bit bland execution. No real sense of urgency in the protagonist's plight. Acting is OK, but truth be told, not much to work with here. Could and should have been better.

really good story

intriguing story with excellent acting. one of the best of the Twilight zone dramas IMO

Good creepy episode.

Story is a bit confusing at times, but not in a bad way. Just enough to give you a creepy sense of "what is going on". Unpredictability is sadly somewhat rare in these T Z episodes. So I liked this one. A lot.

Questions!

A story with a lot of questions. Some answered, but in a classic creepy Twilight Zone way. A good episode, but with acting not as good as usual in these dramas.

Too simple story. Still, an OK listen.

A story can be enjoyable even if the story is simple. This episode tries that idea almost too much. Good acting and a good ending saves it from mediocrity.
