    Reeeeeeealy Good
I got this book on my Kindle and I was reading it so much the battery died!!!! Lol but it was awesome. I didn't expect to like it this much honestly. i'm in the stage where I'm moving from "kids books" to "teen books" (its a hard stage!!!!!!) and this book was perfect. I haven't read A Little Friendly Advice or The List but I plan to. The author has a cool way of writing. She's descriptive, but not overly descriptive. She's straight-forward. I can really see inside Emily (the main character's) brain. There's nothing too inappropriate in here. it has some romance but really what teen book doesn't?? There's a few bad words, but only about five or six. That's the only part I didn't like, the bad words. The characters used them for no reason at all! Well, I guess that's teenagers for ya. But otherwise it is completely appropriate and I totally love it! I'd recommend it to anyone 12+.
    Kudos for Same Difference!
Siobhan Vivian's characters have a depth, which makes Same Difference truly engaging. The story line is relatable, yet offbeat enough that it doesn't mirror every high school girl in America's life. Emily is torn between who she thinks she wants to be - a popular high school girl who hangs out with the right crowd and fits in - and the person she truly is - an artist with a unique perspective on life as well as art. She struggles with and resists the opportunity to evolve, both as a person and as an artist. What makes the story interesting is the rich characters that Vivian creates. They are likable, flaws and all. They are so well developed that even once the book is back on the shelf, you find yourself wondering what has happened to them. I highly recommend Same Difference.
a must-read for daydreamy teenage art lovers
This is an amazing book that is rich in detail and description, with an interesting plotline that drives the book forward. All of the characters are extremely well-developed and the reader can easily empathize with the main character as she struggles to fit in in her rich suburban neighborhood in New Jersey while at the same time trying to stand out in the colorful Philadelphia art world. The best part of this book is the picture that the author paints of both worlds, that allows the reader to visualize the scenes in vivid detail. I would highly recommend this book to any teenage reader from ages 13-20.

Subtitle: The Assassination that Defined a Generation

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 15 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-11-13
    Publisher: Macmillan Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 27 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
Kennedy's Last Days is a gripping account of the events leading up to the most notorious crime of the 20th century. Adapted from Bill OReillys best-selling historical thriller, Killing Kennedy, this audiobook will have young listeners - and grown-ups too - hooked on this fascinating and colorful period of history.
In the first term of his presidency, as the Cold War escalates, John F. Kennedy struggles to contain the growth of Communism while dealing with the many other complexities facing him as president of the United States. In the midst of a 1963 campaign trip to Texas, Kennedy is gunned down by an erratic young drifter named Lee Harvey Oswald. The former Marine Corps sharpshooter escapes the scene, only to be caught and shot dead while in police custody. With an unforgettable cast of characters, non-stop action, and vivid detail, Kennedy's Last Days is history that reads like a thriller. This is a very special audiobook, irresistible on its own or as a compelling companion to Killing Kennedy.

    Absolute waste of a credit
I waited for this book expecting it would be like O'reilly's book on Lincoln. It's basically a recitation of facts on the Kennedy assassination that would be useful to a junior high student. No insight and absolutely nothing new. I don't know when I've been more disappointed in a selection. The only redeeming quality in this audiobook is the narration of Edward Herrmann, who I think is the best.
    Never again Mr. O'reilly. What a rip-off!

    Publisher's Summary:
Third Sister in the Tao family, Ailin has watched her two older sisters go through the painful process of having their feet bound. In China in 1911, all the women of good families follow this ancient tradition. But Ailin loves to run away from her governess and play games with her male cousins. Knowing she will never run again once her feet are bound, Ailin rebels and refuses to follow this torturous tradition. As a result, however, the family of her intended husband breaks their marriage agreement. And as she enters adolescence, Ailin finds that her family is no longer willing to support her.
Chinese society leaves few options for a single woman of good family, but with a bold conviction and an indomitable spirit, Ailin is determined to forge her own destiny. Her story is a tribute to all those women whose courage created new options for the generations who came after them.
    Critic Reviews:
"With the force and intensity of a memoir, the novel chronicles a heroine who creates her own destiny through events as dramatic as they are credible, and weaves in just enough political history to help readers understand the turbulent climate." (Publishers Weekly)
"Ailins reminiscences, used as narration, are simple and straightforward, and the discussions of foot-binding are startlingly effective." (VOYA)
"Set against the backdrop of political unrest and social change, this novel provides a realistic window into turn-of-the-century Chinese culture.... Great for recreational reading, this solid story will also work well in supplementing social-studies units." (School Library Journal)

    Amazing!
This book was honestly the best book I've ever read! The detail of the characters and their feelings was exquisite! I hope to read more books just like this one!
    Fascinating story
What did you love best about Ties That Bind, Ties That Break?
Fascinating story about how one girl managed to avoid having her feet bound. Explains the background of the custom, and why it became important, as well as how she avoided it and how that choice influenced her life. Once you start, you won't want to quit until it's over.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Tradition - it's not for everyone.
    History lesson
Nice little history lesson, geared to the YA audience. ( so it was a bit too juvenile for me ). Excellent narration.

    The hunt is on.
The hunt for Zavac is on, and the Heron' s pick up another crew member a young lady named Lydia. A duel between ships will decide the fate of the Heron crew. A great adventure story is John Flanagan' s Brotherband Chronicles, my only complaint is John Keating' s bad accents.

What made the experience of listening to The Hunters the most enjoyable?
I loved the entire series of the Ranger,s apprentice, so much so I was disappointment when I had finished the Royal Ranger. Then I read the entire Brotherband Saga,s and can only hope John has another set of Brotherband saga, as this band of characters are as good or even better in than the. Ranger,s. I haven't read a bad book in all 16 tales.
Brotherband is a little funnier in many places than the Rangers series and it adds light hearted see to a gripping book. perhaps not as dark as some of the Ranger Books but still very enjoyable. I would always suggest your start with books 1 and be prepared to buy the all 4 in the series.

He's tried everything to shake the Fairy curse that traded his life for his brother's - legends such as the All-Healing Apple, the Well of Eternal Youth, the blood of a northern Djinn. And yet hope after hope is extinguished. After months of fruitless searching, Jacob journeys through his father's mirror one final time to deliver the bad news to Fox.
But there they hear of one last possibility - an item so legendary that not even Mirrorworlders believe it exists: a crossbow that can kill thousands, or heal one, when shot through the heart. But a Goyl treasure hunter is also searching for the prized crossbow. Jacob must find it first - and somehow convince Fox to do whatever it takes to save him.

    The Masters
Cornelia Funke is a master of the written word and Elliot Hill is a master of the spoken word. Both author and narrator draw you into the mirror world stories so completely you feel as if you are there with the characters! Adventure, love, greed, honor, suspense, and wonder are just some of the ways to describe this book. The mirror world books are classics that I will keep forever and do not tire of listening to over and over. I am listening to the first two books again before moving on to the third and I cannot wait to dive into the next adventure! Will Jacob finally find his father? Will he be called upon to return the favor he owes? I am very excited to find out the answers to these questions and more.
a fast developing story with lots of twists
a really nice story with a lot of exciting turn of events. the reader is also amazing, changing his voice and accent for each character. i truly recommend the 2 books to anyone who likes fantasy books with fast-pace development of the plot.
    Fun, engaging and highly enjoyable!
As a fan of the young adult market, in particular the genres of fantasy, adventure and a touch of romance, I can honestly say that this series and this audio book is well worth getting into. The characters, lore and world are all so richly painted by the author and the story flows smoothly, helped along by a touch of humor and romance. Being a guy, I prefer stories where the main character/protagonist is also a guy, because I find it easier to relate to. This is a fun story told from a male Point of view with an easy to listen to male performance. I recommend these audio books and the series. Now I just need to wait for book three!

Ruined by the narrator, buy text!
I have followed the Jenna Fox Chronicles since before I bought my kindle. I love this series. I love this story. "The Adoration of Jenna Fox" was incredible and I was so enthralled with the questions the author raised. "What makes me human?" "What makes me real?" "What makes me, me?". Amazing.
I chose to download "Fox Forever" on audiobook. I can't even FORCE myself to finish listening to it because the narration is so bad. The reader's vocal patterns are constant and really odd. It's almost monotone but like if Roger Rabbit was attempting to be monotone.
Buy this for Kindle. The narration is far too distracting and annoying to listen to.
    WOW
I absolutely loved how Pearson wrote this book, wonderful! Wish there was a fourth book
    very good book
very good book as we're the first two. at times a bit childish, but I suppose I may just be too old for YA books.
    Wonderful ending for the series
I really enjoyed where Mary E Pearson took the characters in this story. Slightly predictable, but I enjoyed the ride. Once again Matthew Brown did a great job bringing he characters to life.

Such a rich and profound look at the events leading up to the Russian Revolution. My children and I had many thoughtful conversations about being good people who do the wrong thing of not standing up for the rights of others to protect one's own comfort. I loved how the author helped us see these events from multiple perspectives. The end was so tasteful and sensitively written despite the horrific truth of what happened to the Romanov family. Gary Schmidt does it again
At 64, I'm an old man and probably shouldn't be reading the genre erroneously called "young adult fiction." But appellations notwithstanding, this genre has the most imaginative and engaging stories currently being published. I read YA fiction so I can recommend books to the 5th - 8th graders I tutor at our elementary school.
Gary Schmidt is a prime example of the depth this genre. I have read every one of his books and have yet to be disappointed. "What Came from the Stars" is a prime example.
On the surface, this novel is Schmidt's foray into science fiction. In reality, it is an examination of loss, forgiveness, and redemption. No spoiler alert here. I am not going to give away the plot. But these plot elements are so deftly woven into the story that they are almost invisible. But by the end of the book, the reader cannot help but feel and understand them. A heck of a lesson for young people.
Schmidt has many valuable qualities as a writer. He has impeccable command of voice. In his two best known books - "Wednesday Wars" and "Okay for Now" - the protagonists' voices are true to their ages and yet are completely different. Written in the first person, the protagonists of both books do not relate their stories to the readers. They tell it as if seated across the dinner table. They are there with you. "What Came from the Stars" is written in the third person, but the reader still gets a vivid sense of Tommy Pepper, the protagonist. This book could not have been written in first person, and Schmidt knew that. In third person, we can ache for Tommy's losses. If written in first person, he could have come across as a complainer or whiner.
Schmidt's most important quality as a writer is a profound respect for his readers. He never simplifies his stories because he's writing for a younger readership. He knows they are capable of rising to the level of his storytelling. I have two examples of this. "What Came from the Stars" begins with an almost incomprehensible narration of a battle on a distant world. Few authors of any genre would have dared their readers to continue I this way. But Schmidt knows his readers well and kept the narration and descriptions lively, engaging, and dangerous enough to pull the reader along.
My other example of Schmidt's respect for his readers is best given by a then fifth grader in the school where I volunteer. The students were assigned to write an author of one of the books they'd read during the year. This boy chose Schmidt and told him "I never used to like to read.
