Title: House of Seven: A Novel
    Subtitle: Covington Chronicles, Book 6
    Author: Mary Lou Cheatham
    Narrator: Janet R. Hoskins
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 29 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-09-18
    Publisher: Mary Lou Cheatham
    Genres: Fiction, Humor
    Publisher's Summary:
Beth DuBard, a lovely, single author, moves to a new town after her uncle gives her a house and a newspaper business. Leaving an undesirable suitor behind, she takes wacky Aunt Genie, who demands constant attention while doling out witty sarcasm. Beths best friend, also a cousin and the family housekeeper, goes along and becomes a force of strength. Along the way, others join the household. The seven dont always like each other, but they need to be together.
The year is 1913, and the setting is in the town of Taylorsburg of the Covington Chronicles, but House of Seven is an independent story. The author blends romance, comedy, and mystery in a fast-paced novel told through the viewpoints of multiple characters.

Reading this novel will leave you with a smile on your face and possibly tears of laughter!
Mary Lou Cheatham has written an absolutely delightful story in HOUSE OF SEVEN. There are serious aspects to it, but there is lots of humor and fun. Begin reading with a lighthearted attitude, and you won't be pulled down. There's lots of laughter to be found in Taylorsburg, Mississippi in 1913 as twenty-six-year-old Beth DuBard moves into the house bestowed upon her by her Uncle Albert, and he also left her his newspaper and printing business. She is chaperoned by a sometimes incorrigible and always eccentric Aunt Genie. Thankful to escape imminent danger, housekeeper Rosa Linda Miller joins the pair and adds to the fun. There are three love stories included, a child mailed to the house, a brief kidnapping, a checker champion old lady, and the fun just goes on and on! Reading this novel will leave you with a smile on your face, and there were a couple of spots where I had tears from laughter!
    Entertaining book
Fabulous book written by Mary Lou Cheatham. She sprinkled this entertaining book with humor and love.
I loved the characters in this book
Mary Lou never disappoints! I loved the characters in this book, but was so glad that Aunt Genie belonged to Beth and not to me.
I enjoyed every page and as usual
What a drlightful book. Mary Cheatham has done it again! I enjoyed every page and as usual, felt sad that the book ended so soon. Keep writing, Mary. I want to read more of your stories.

    Title: Ready to Love
    Author: Jon Appleton
    Narrator: Adna Sablyich
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 48 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-09-18
    Publisher: Sharp Eared Owl
    Genres: Fiction, Humor
    Publisher's Summary:
How difficult is it to fall in love? When you've made mistakes before, it's hard to trust your judgement, especially when other people - family, flatmates, colleagues, everyone, basically - seem more confident and experienced and more assertive than you.
This story, a kind of sitcom in a novel, is about two characters trying to move on with their lives and get together with each other.
Ready to Love is funny and relatable - you will want Minna and Jeff to find their happy ever after.
    Members Reviews:
I'd read more from this author.
Iâve agonised over this review a bit as I am quite undecided on this book. The story is about Minna and Jeff and the minutiae of their lives. In fact, I wonder whether the name âMinnaâ is derived from âminutiaeâ. The writer painted a great picture with lots of attention to detail and in places I really felt a sense of angst from the main characters. I can see from other reviewers that they loved the fact they could recognise characters from their own lives in this storyâ the various types you find in office setting and surroundings. Everyone has probably worked with a Kerry or lived with a Niamh. But Iâd have liked to see a bit more resolution in this story, such as finding out if any of the more unpleasant characters got their come-uppance, or suffered any consequences for their actions. We were given a subtle glimpse into their motives and Iâd have liked to know more.
I liked the language and vocabulary used in the story, but I didnât find myself overly endeared to any of the characters. Even our main protagonists were a bit annoying and their neuroses started to grate on me. I didnât feel like I was desperate for things to go one way or the other for them.
The paragraphs on the kindle edition need to be separated out more as a lot of âscenesâ (as it were) need to be differentiated. Paragraphs seem to run into each other without pausing for breath, which sometimes made me wonder if Iâd accidentally tapped the page too many times and run ahead.
In summary, I liked the writing but didnât love the characters and would have liked a but more development from the story.
I was given this book to review by THE Book Club (TBC) in return for an honest review.
    A Light Romantic Comedy
This is a debut novel, which isn't so bad as debut novels go.
I went with a 3 star review because I wanted more raw emotions on the page so I could connect with the characters better instead of feeling like they were constantly at armâs length from me. Less frenzied/rushed storytelling, better plotting, might also have helped me to connect with the characters better. And possibly other things contributed to my tepid reactions that I canât entirely put my fingers on.
This is a light, romantic-comedy as billed, so to factor out for reader bias perhaps just check out the free sample to see if you can ignore my at-armâs-length perspective.
(note: I was provided an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review)
    A nice, gentle read
This was a gentle read with characters that exhibit characteristics we are sure to recognise amongst our friends, family and colleagues. It dealt with two key characters, alternating as we see them try to find their place in life: both at work and in their relationships.

    Nice.
Cute little story but not really for kids.
This is a cute little story but definitely not for kids. It is filled with innuendoes that only a dirty mind would enjoy. I found it cute and entertaining.
Got a kick out of it
I for sure got a kick out of it. It is not disgusting, just mild humor for adults.
    Great unclean fun!
This book is hilarious! I love the play on words. Is done quite cleverly. There are a couple of grammatical errors, But other than that, this book serves as a great entertainment. I've shown it to a few of my friends, and they all laughed heartily. I highly suggest this book for a good laugh.
    Cock lovers unite!
Wow! Simple, fun, and easy to read. This is a book suitable to read to children. My kids thoroughly enjoyed this book. Keep it up Gary!

Best book I've read in all year!
Such a great read... I could not put it down!! The descriptive storytelling sucks you in... and the main character takes you on an amazing journey. Eddie Crisp's charm and over-the-top arrogance have you loving and hating him throughout the book, but rooting for him all the while! It's a unique story of love, ambition, and finding your own path in life. Would definitely suggest this modern story to anyone... especially if you like some surprise twists and turns!!
Musillo's descriptive writing style always makes you feel like you actually know the characters
Another captivating read by this author. Musillo's descriptive writing style always makes you feel like you actually know the characters, and can relate to someone you know and/or life experiences you've had. Eddie Crisp is one of the most well thought out and complex characters I've read about in a long time. Read this book!

I read Jeff Musillo's book "The Eternal Echo" and absolutely fell in love with his unique style of writing. so needless to say I picked up a copy of "The Charming Swindler" as soon as it came out, and it did not disappoint. This new book grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let you go until the end. Eddie the main character is so well written that you are able to relate to him on every level whether it is his dark side or the human, Musillo brings him to life in a way that not many authors can. If you are looking for something out of the box and not your usual read, then "The Charming Swindler" is for you!

    Members Reviews:
    Some laughs, some editorial problems
This is sort of a novel. Itâs written episodically, with interconnected chapters. If it were a blog or a series of teleplays for a sitcom, it would work, but its attempts to be a novel, or at least novel-like, donât.
There are definitely some laughs throughout. The first chapter is strongâhilarious. The story of single mother, thirty-something Mavis Upton has potential. Mavis is likeable in that she doesnât spend her days fretting about her ex-husband or how sheâll get a man. Her concerns are her mom and seven-year-old daughter, Ella, and being the best police officer she can be.
Unfortunately, there are a LOT of snot/booger/fart jokes. More significantly, this book desperately needed a professional editor. Had the author hired one, the editor would have cut out every use of the word ârather.â The word is abused horribly. The phrase ârather fetchingâ comes up dozens of times. On one page, there might be ârather fetching,â ârather plump,â and ârather attractive.â
The editor would have also deleted clichés like âavoided like the plagueâ and âeyes as big as saucers.â This author can write light humorâshe has some fun turns of phrase like âElla gave him a glacial stare that would have frozen the testicles off a polar bear.â
The other problem is that in most cases, you can figure out the gist of the misunderstanding or dilemma Mavis will find herself in at the beginning of the chapterâyou can see the joke coming, which makes it not as funny because part of humor is the unexpected. I think Kirkham would have been better served to focus on the story rather than trying to be hilarious. Then, sheâd have a better book that sometimes had some humor in it.
    Fantastic Book
A book, made me laugh out loud and shed a tear. As a former police officer I followed some of the ups and downs of the job. I love that this book is very real, these things happened and I love the good, bad and ugly of the job that Police officers do, this one was wonderful as it also gave an insight onto life behind the " the thin blue line". I sure hope Gina Kirkham can provide us with another book of the life of Mavis Upton. I will sure be waiting for the follow up.
    Fabulous, uplifting book
I knew Gina when we were young and the start of the book was a trip down memory lane! The rest of the book was funny and poignant. I loved it.
