    Title: Coinman
    Subtitle: An Untold Conspiracy
    Author: Pawan Mishra
    Narrator: Stephen L. Vernon
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 10 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-06-17
    Publisher: Lune Spark
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Humor
    Publisher's Summary:
Prejudice takes place in a plethora of forms. It sprouts a rare growth when a clerk called Coinman can't stop jingling the coins in his pocket. It's a seemingly harmless addiction, but it's one that comes to rule his life and begins to invite the wrath of virtually everyone around him. His work environment becomes increasingly hostile, while his life at home begins to suffer as a result of his wife's obsession with acting. When an attempt to remedy the situation goes horribly wrong, it spurs those involved onto unexpected paths.
In this eccentric tale set in a small town in northern India, Pawan Mishra masterfully weaves ingenuity and sarcasm in a manner that's simultaneously hilarious and tragic. Coinman is a modern-day parable laced with pithy wisdom and psychological insight into human nature - a clever parody of the dynamics of office politics and groupthink. At times, surreal, Mishra's distinctive novel is an overflowing basin of linguistic humor. Eloquently written, this satirical story beautifully depicts how even mature, sensible adults can callously inflict emotional damage upon the most vulnerable.

    Original and beautifully written
Coinman: An Untold Conspiracy is beautifully written and the story is nothing like what I've encountered before. The story revolves around a man with OCD who likes to jingle coins in his pocket, so his coworkers nickname him Coinman. The group of people he works with constantly gossip about him, spread rumors, mock him and pull pranks on him... basically bullying him. Coinman doesn't have the easiest life at home either, with a wife obsessed with her own well-being, and a mother obsessed with making her son's marriage successful, the man can't catch a break.
I was really close to giving it more stars but something kept haunting me: this book is marketed as humor. And while it is filled with humorous elements, I was too frustrated by the behavior of all the co-workers to really focus on the satire.
But I still recommend it. It's an amazing read.

    Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.

    Publisher's Summary:

A perfect blend of emotions - humorous and incredilby poignant
I wasn't sure if this was written more for men, but I'd heard great things about it so I gave it a try.
I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the novel and the writing of Mr. Baker. His voice is incredibly strong throughout - which is a rarity these days. I LOVE flawed characters, and they don't get much more flawed than HONEYMOON WITH HARRY'S protagonist, Todd. He's authentic and delightful for his self-deprecation and the humor he conjures up as he surprises himself by falling head-over-heels for Tami. His interactions with Harry are amusing and tense -- tapping into a deeper level of emotion that any man contending with the father of the woman he loves can relate to. Harry was rough in the beginning, so I was glad to see his vulnerable side later in the story.
Baker is not a lazy author. His plot points don't come out of the blue for the sake of convenience. They are driven by realistic events (i.e. without giving away spoiler details -- Harry getting on the plane).
Baker has the unique ability to marry humor with heartache, taking the reader on an emotional roller coaster the entire time. I hate saying this at the risk of sounding cliché, but I laughed, bawled my eyes out and laughed again. Highly recommend this one and I'll be buying the sequel.
HONEST: had me in the opening sentence
I read the opening sentence and didn't emerge from my room for hours. I didn't answer the phone or get up for a drink. I was unaware of the passage of time. No longer in my world -- I was firmly ensconced inside the world of these characters. Heartbreaking, funny and so honest, even the chapter titles were entertaining.
Where often I won't be able to stop myself from skipping ahead, I savored every word, every moment. When I cried, (and it isn't often a book can illicit a good cry), it came from an ache deep within. On the flip side I laughed often and hard. There were moments I cringed with embarrassment for what I was seeing, and some moments so private that I felt like an intruder, a voyeur.
In short, this story will take you through the gamut of emotion. If you don't see yourself somewhere in the pages, you will recognize people you know or familiar situations because these characters are fully realized, three dimensional and so loveable.
I dare you to read this book and NOT care.
    Beautifully written, intelligent and human.

    Publisher: Robert Thornhill
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 38 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Humor
    Publisher's Summary:
Lady Justice has unwittingly entered a religious war. Who better to fight for her than Walt Williams?
Walt and his sweetie, Maggie, have just returned from a honeymoon that was packed with love, fun, mystery, and danger. Now it's time for them to adjust to living under the same roof - quite the challenge for a couple in their sixties, both of whom have never been married before! Suddenly Maggie's feeding Walt fiber - lots of fiber - taking up almost all the closet space, and even getting rid of Walt's favorite old recliner. But nothing could be better than having Maggie by his side when a great threat arises and Walt is, as usual, smack dab in the middle.
When Walt and his partner, Ox, are patrolling the Gay Pride Parade, a bomb goes off near them. They come out okay, but many are dead or seriously injured. Shortly after, the police squad learns the bombs are homemade by a group of religious fanatics calling themselves God's Avenging Angels. The Avenging Angels believe it's their job to rain fire and brimstone on Kansas City, their Sodom and Gomorrah. The next attacks could be anywhere in the metro, so all cops are needed to comb the city and find the perpetrators. Walt and Ox are on the case, which continues to be explosive.
In this compelling addition to the Lady Justice series, Robert Thornhill brings back all the characters listeners have come to love for more hilarity and higher stakes. You'll laugh, and you'll be on the edge of your seat until the big finish. Don't miss Lady Justice and the Avenging Angels!

    Book 4
    Which scene was your favorite?
This 4th installment in the Lady Justice series is another hit by the author. The hilarious antics of Walt Williams and friends as they fight the forces of evil is very entertaining. This story also addresses a very serious and dark topic, of a group of religious fanatics who believe they are doing God's will by killing the sinners in Kansas City. You will laugh at times, and you will be on the edge of your seat in suspense at others. I could not wait for book 5.
    Another wonderful Lady Justice novel!
67 year old Walt Williams and his 67 year old bride Maggie are back to Kansas City from Hawaii where they were married and honeymooned for three weeks. With neither ever been married before they very quickly learn that some adjustments in their lifestyles will be required; well, Walt is the one who really must adjust. Although there is a mystery element in the last part of the novel, the first half is pure humor.
If you have not heard George Kuch narrate books before you have a treat ahead with this novel. He is really good!
    This series is Fantastic!
    fanatics, law-enforcement, kidnapping, friendship, relationships
Another excellent book in the Lady Justice series! Once again, the topics are more than contemporary, and there is referencing to late 20th century events. There is even a speculative tale from the days of the wild west. I continue to be impressed with the treatment of the problems and perils of law enforcement and their departments.
The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers.

Sofia is just a normal high school girl, worried about getting her homework done and looking cool in the lunchroom, when he shows up: a devastatingly handsome new kid, mysteriously covered in decaying bandages, and staring at her from the empty holes where his eyes should be. She thinks he's just a hipster, but is there more to this handsome stranger than meets the eye? Yes. He's a mummy. We're not really making a secret about this. The twist is he's a mummy. It's a book about a girl who falls in love with a mummy. We've read young adult books about teenage girls unknowingly falling in love with vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, fairies, mermen, warlocks, dreamwalkers, and trolls. Seriously, there was one about trolls. It's time for mummies, dammit. It's time for mummies.

Love the book and the podcast
Great book actually made me laugh audibly in the middle of work. I got some weird looks from people but totally worth it for this delightful book. Keep up the good work on the podcast Read it and Weep and I look forward to another book some day.
Speed it up to 1.25 or more, and enjoy yourself!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Unwrap My Heart?
Unwrap My Heart is to Twilight and Warm Bodies what Cabin in the Woods was to horror. Very cleverly playing with the tropes without fully falling into the horror genre. This novel has a great deal of cute moments in this short novel, but they all wink knowingly at how those moments are often poorly executed in works of teen romance, while not crossing the line into attacking everything this book is built on. Personally, the moments with the father made me laugh throughout the book. I listened to it at 1.5, which I think made the narration sound more crisp, and honored the level of comedy on the page.
best read in a long time!
This story was so finally and silly! Extremely meta and self referential. I love all the fun the author's had poking fun at the whole genre.
Read this book! You deserve it.
Sarah Hathaway was a wonderful voice for the odd and quirky Sophia. Very expressive and on point for the tone of the book.
    Funny and clever
The problem I have with a lot of parodies is that they get pretty boring after the joke is played. This book is refreshing because it's fun throughout. The characters are likeable (I'M LOOKING AT YOU BELLA SWAN) and Sophia's dad in particular is a funny character with quirks that made me laugh out loud.
The hipster-mummy-defeats-graverobbers-in-Sophia's-mind scene was hilarious. I was pleasantly surprised by this. If you love to hate twilight, you will enjoy this book both for the joke and for the character and story work that's more interesting in 4 hours of listening than was accomplished in all 4 of he Twilight books.

    Maze "runner" national lampoon style
A great parody of a great story...like most things in the national lampoons style not appropriate for listening to with my kids even though the original is kid friendly. Gave it a four for that reason. If it was cleaner it would have been 5 star. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
    A Funny parody
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
I thought this was a funny book, worth listening to. Looking forward to listening to more by the author.
    Entertaining
    Any additional comments?
Fun listen. It's a parody, so the story is so-so. Made my car ride more enjoyable.
    Hilarious Send-up
Would you listen to The Maze Bummer again? Why?
Sure. It was hilarious! It took all the quirky things about the Maze Runner book and movie and skewered them. For instance the language - klunk and other words that were never really explained are used in hilarious ways. Thomas questions every little detail of this world and gets stupid answers. A few of the jokes did get overused, but it's short and worth the listen!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Thomas, of course, he's the hero.
Have you listened to any of Chris Brinkleys other performances before? How does this one compare?
Never heard Chris Brinkley before. But he was great. He did all the voices/accents perfectly, and had just a hint of sarcasm in his voice that fit this book perfectly.
    Any additional comments?
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review
    said the BOOMING voice
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The story was funny and silly. Just as promised. My son and I listened to the story on the way back to college. We shared some good laughs. Thanks Mr. Lookner. The parody followed the Maze Runner nicely.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Mr. Brinkley's comedic timing was good. Unfortunately, my son and I thought the "said Thomas...said Newt...said Theresa" were so booming and loud that they became a distraction from the storyline. This is the only reason we gave the overall rating 3 stars.
The production almost felt like it was done in two parts...the narration...then the dialogue. There was a disconnect every time the narrator Boomed into the scene. There was no need to have a female narrate Theresa character. No real need for the special effects either in our opinion.
    Any additional comments?
I received a free copy via audiobook boom in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you.

Not intended for children. Contains adult themes/situations/language and is positively not politically correct!
In the third mission of the hilarious Platoon F series, a space probe that was sent out 500 years ago has returned...sort of. It's actually a copy of the original model of The SSMC Voyeur, which begs the question: What happened to the original craft?

Now, they just have to wait for Geezer to figure out how the damn thing actually works.

Raise a android glass to continued oh no they didn't 'go there' and references to sci-fi 'nerd-om'.
I have read many reviews of different books that give outline of the story, but not only was this part of a 5 set it's not really something one could do when it's {Terry} Pratchett meets {Douglas} Adams meets Monty Python meets Red Dwarf meets Star Trek meets Doctor Who meets Twilight Zone/Outer Limits/Night Gallery.... Realized at end of the Pentalogy that there are 2 of 'them', writers, so guess 2 peas in an...alien pod.... Their 'issues' have 'issues', and sincerely suggest that they both seem professional help...after a couple or more...sets/series. The only caveat is to not stop at book 2, it is by far the weakest and seems a bit out of place, but even Logsdon said 2 was not all he had wanted it to be. There are more than 5 total and will be getting those to read as well. Sci-Fi fans that also like things mixed with humor or humour should definitely like these.
    Great fun!
This is another great book in the Platoon F series. It's light-hearted, funny, refreshing, and fun, and I highly recommend it!

    Fun to listen to
What did you love best about The Banana Massacre?
Light and funny as well as witty
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    Fusarium, Wilt Fusarium.
I've had Jim Yoakum's collaborations with the late great Graham Chapman (of Dangerous Sports Club fame) in my collection for years, so I decided to see what he's been up to lately (Jim, not Graham). So I read his audiobook, Joe Perk, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked it so much, in fact, that I loaded up the ol' iPod with another of Jim's books just prior to a much needed do-nothing vacation. The Banana Massacre. I liked the title. Knew nothing about it, but liked the title. So it was somewhat of a happy coincidence as I found myself, a graduate in advertising, in the Caribbean, listening to the story of ad man Wilt Fusarium sent on assignment to the Caribbean. I could almost "see" the island of Costa San Rica from the beach where I was listening!
Based on a true massacre (Google it!) that occurred in the 1920's, Jim's version of The Banana Massacre includes a bit more humor than the original -- along with intrigue, suspense and a lot of mistaken identity. This is the story of ad man Wilt Fusarium (Google him!), a man who doesn't like bananas, sent to save the Choad Banana account. This is not the story of Carter, Inman and Adams, the "agency" bosses who sent him there against his wishes, nor is this the story of Jose Martinez, manager at the Choad Banana plantation. This is not the story of Jacobo Gomez, el Presidente de Costa San Rica, nor is this the story of his half brother, the revolutionary Alejandro "Chi-Chi" Lopez, former pitcher for the Yankees with a chip on his shoulder who now plays the game by a slightly different set of rules. This is not the story of Satine Santa Rosa, once engaged to "Chi-Chi", nor is it the story of her father Miguel, or of Chet, even, the spy, keeping a close eye on the clueless Wilt. No, this is the story of Wilt Fusarium and his cab driver, Emilio Chavez. Wait, hang on, scratch that. This is not the story of the cab driver. Nor is this the story of the hotel desk clerk. One thing for certain, this is definitely not the story of famous author, Rita Fulstrom. But hey, they're all in it. And it wouldn't be much of a story without any of them now, would it? And what a story it is!
I loved it! They say the book is always better than the movie.
