Girl hockey!

This was a fun story about a small town girl who comes home after she gets a career ending injury from playing professional hockey. The folks in her town are not very open minded when she joins a amateur hockey league that plays for fun, since she's a woman. The hero feels that they should just shut up and leave her alone. The story is entertaining and the narration is great, Maxine Mitchell can narrate anything.

Fun and heartfelt

The story of boy knows girl; boy finally realizes he loves the girl; gets angry at the girl; and, finally gets the girl. BUT hockey? Loved it! The narrator was awesome with none of the phoney voice changes per character! And, the sex... let's just say it'll have you "dancing" in your seat! Very well done!!!! So, check it out!

A cut and paste from the Fool's Gold Cookbook novel

I love Susan Mallery's books, but this one was a disappointment to me. First off it was the Fools Gold cookbook without the recipes. It was twenty six pages and eleven chapters. Does that tell you anything. I felt it was a sad lack of public relations for printing this as a stand alone when it was really from the fools gold cookbook. I thought the characters would be fleshed out and the story would be more in depth. It was a cut and paste from fools gold cookbook straight and true. Not cool. That is why I gave it a two. I just felt cheated on this purchase.

A Sweet Short Story

A great short read. A cute romance between two chefs, Anna and Greg, who don't always see eye to eye and now Mayor Marsha wants them to write a cookbook together. Once together they find themselves falling in love.

it just isn't necessary to tell a good story. Susan Mallary finds it to be told ...

I only read the very beginning, not even a chapter. It started off with discriptive sex and I do not see the need for that to tell a story. I am presently reading one by John Grisham and he implies sexual encounter but does not actually go to lenghty details, it just isn't necessary to tell a good story. Susan Mallary finds it to be told throughout her books in great detail, as if that is all people think about. I find that shallow.

A Sweet Story

For some reason I totally missed Sweeter With You. I think it was because it was first published in the Fool's Gold Cookbook, then in it's own novella. When I was playing around on Amazon and saw it I knew I had to have it.

The story is only 45 pages so it's a real quick easy read. It's about Ana & Greg. I often wondered about them. They aren't really two characters that have been in the forefront of any of the Fool's Gold stories.

But you still wanted to know their story. And you now have it.

I really enjoyed Sweeter With You. I would have liked it to be a little longer even if that longer was only by 50 pages. I think the story would have benefited from it. Not that the story is bad, just a little to short.

This is a very sweet romance about how two people admit finally to loving the other. A must read for those of us that love the Fool's Gold series.

Never read Ana Raquel and Greg's story because when I started this series their "cookbook" on kindle version is about $15. So, I was happy to see that it was released as a very short story without the recipes. I was finally able read the story I was missing from the series.

About the story itself, it was told only from Ana Raquel's POV. I just wished it was told from Greg's POV as well. But I guess it needed to be really short so the original could fit the recipes. The story was short and sweet, very short.

Dean and Olivia

I liked the narrators. I thought they fit the characters well.

Most favorite series ever

I was so excited when I learned that my most favorite book had finally been released as an audiobook! Finally I could hear my beloved Professor West as he spoke to his Beauty with so much love. And I was so happy when I heard the narrator's voices- they're perfect! I've read and loved sooo many other books, but this book/series will always be my most favorite.

Just "Eh"... Sadly Predictable

The book's main characters were shallow, predictable and frustratingly uninteresting. The main female character, Olivia West, was self-deprecating, depressed, and, even in her strongest times when she confronted her husband, non-committal in her attempts at contention. The character had a difficult childhood one in which she had to learn to fend for herself, but she requires her husband, Dean, to fight her battles for her lest she have a panic attack (example: the scene in the bookstore and the three male college students). The husband is overbearing and ridiculously over-protective to the point of expecting her to do as he expects or instructs.

Jay Crow, the voice of Dean West, used appropriate inflection and accurate change of emotion to make the scenarios in which Dean was involved more tolerable, albeit not more pleasurable, which was through no fault of his own. I would very likely listen to other books narrated by Mr. Crow.

Eliza Grace, as the voice of Olivia West, only made the character more pathetic. Her voice was frail and whiney and when the author gave the character the opportunity to show strength, as in standing up to her husband, her conviction was sorely lacking.

I didn't buy it.

It wasn't awful. It was about 4 hours longer than it needed to be, most of that consumed by our heroine's dithering. I liked our hero fine. His speech in the epilogue almost makes up for everything I didn't like in the book...almost.

The author tells us the heroine is a smart, ruthless, confident lawyer, but she spends most of the book in insipid bimbo mode. Her back story made me want to care about her. Her behavior made me roll my eyes and want to slap someone.

Creditworthy? Not for me. Will I check out the next book? Maybe. The parts that made me laugh had me thinking, "More like this!" So, maybe.

I don't know why so many people liked this book. I was ready to throw it out of the window several times and debated about finishing the thing. FAIL

Amazing!!!!

I find Elle to be an amazing author! The story was cute, there was definitely some hot sex scenes and it had me laughing out loud!!! It held my attention and I didn't want to turn it off! I definitely recommend this book!!

Loved it!

I absolutely enjoyed this story. The performance kept my attention through the entire reading from beginning to end, non-stop. I found myself misty eyed and laughing out loud several times. I appreciate a story that can grab my emotions and keep me hanging on to the end.

Just OK

You can tell Karina Halle was a former travel writer. This book is so (overly) descriptive about every place in New Zealand I feel like if I ever want to go to New Zealand, I will take a copy of this book with me for reference. As for the love story- It was average at best unfortunately. I loved Josh but I didn't find Gemma very likeable. I was hooked after Chapter One and couldn't wait to see where the story went. However, it was long and dragged out and not very rewarding in the end. Disappointed with this one. I'm hoping for a better story with the spin off- Racing the Sun.

"Will You Destroy Something Before You Have A Chance To Lose It?

I have been a fan of Karina Halle's writing since taking a chance on her first book in the EIT series....I fell in love with her style of writing and how well developed her characters and story lines were....but with that said.....WSMS just did not make me sit up and want to devour every page because I couldn't wait to see what was on the next page.

Her experience as a travel writer was evident as I felt I was backpacking my way through New Zealand and found myself googling some of the sights....now I have New Zealand on my vacay bucket list!

Josh and Gemma.....hmmmm....there were some beautifully written moments shared by these 2 young adults and then there were times when I wanted to toss them off the side of those cliffs they were hiking on.

I'm don't consider myself a prude but the opening sentence of WSMS was an instant turnoff....I know sex sells but,

A beautiful second chance romance! I loved Blair and Garrett's story! You will fall in love with most of the characters in this series! Knickers and Gram are back too and providing laughs along with Grandma Ruby!

Oh, my goodness! This story!!!

This was a great book! The ice queen and the supposed player, the twisty turn of events throughout this story was absolutely crazy! I couldn't put it down. I laughed so hard at the unbelievably funny parts, and smiled so big at all of the a-ha and gotcha moments. Like I said at the beginning, it was great!

Listening to the audio book, Shannon McManus was the perfect voice for this story. she brought every single character - male and female - to life. I could feel the irritations, the emotions, and the attitude of each key player in this book. Awesome job. I will definitely add her to my list of narrators to look for.

This would make a great movie!

I loved this story of Garrett and Blaire. There were so many things going on that I could easily watch this as a movie. The narrator did a superb job portraying the characters.

Little bit unbelievable

Performance great! Character Blaire is a little hard to believe. Suppose to be strong independent hard women with major trust issues and no tolerance for cheaters or lies. Based off that I find it hard to believe that such a person would easily dismiss red flag behaviors and blindly trust everything a boyfriend would say based off his low sex drive with her. Even having her stay business like in relationship did not make it enough to be believable.

If that aspect was fixed I would have loved it. Various parts of book were funny and overall story was okay. The one part just messed it up for me.

So Good!!!

Luke and Lily have a love that is breathtaking. After both having had difficult past, Luke losing his girlfriend in a tragic accident; and Lily's fiancée cheating on her with her sister, they both deserved the love they gave each other. Luke only has eyes for Lilly and she is the love of his life. Nothing can tear them apart until past pain comes back and causes Luke to become unrecognizable. Grief causes him to do and say things he doesn't mean, but will it be too late to undo the damage he has caused?

Lily has been through so much and wants to protect her heart. She is beyond hurt and angry and she pushes Luke away again and again. She feels like she has to do this to protect him because only bad things come from her. Her stubbornness knows no bounds but it is no match for fate.

I could not put this book down! Sandi pulled me in and I felt every raw emotion each character felt. My anxiety level was through the roof wanting things to be alright between Luke and Lily. I love how the story ended and we were all able to see the upside of love!

The narrators really brought this story to life and I loved listening to this book!

Yes I would. This book has the right amount of Love and comic relief.

Although not the main character, the niece was one of my favorites. She is smart beyond her years and so brutally honest it made me laugh out loud.

I loved the way their voices meshed. They give great presence to the story.

Not a Fan...

Alec just don't get that you don't lie to your significant other. Nat was a victim of his deceit that reads like a bad Harlequin plot. I don't imagine I have been mad with a hero of a book as I was with Alec right now. The way the characters also punch each other all over the place was ridiculous. Isn't Jameyson's step mother too young to be around him all the time? Also much as this is a rockstar novel there is not much about the music industry in the book. This is just an average read for me. The plot was too jumpy and scanty for me. Too many innuendoes which makes this book tedious.

Screaming Walls

I wasn't really convinced by the summary of the book, but I was pleasantly surprised by the recording. I especially enjoyed the banter between Zoe and Ethan. It seemed very real. I'm not sure I bought the whole psychic designer bit... (I don't think the plot needed that.) Overall, it was a fun listen. I liked the interaction with the disheveled neighbor at Casa de Oro in particular. Great narrator. Fun characters, but not my favorite JAK novel.

Book 1 & 2 are not the same narrator !!

Where does Truth or Dare rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

I like both stories in the series 1.Light in Shadow 2.Truth or Dare. What I didn't like was that the narrator on book 1 was different from book 2. The character's voices completely changed and so the portrayal was off. Especially Arcadia and Ethan's Characters were changed. Arcadia sounded like she was 20 instead of a sophisticated woman as portrayed in book 1.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Zoey and Ethan are both strong and interesting characters.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Amanda Cobb?

My main complaint is that there are 2 books in this series and Joyce Bean narrated the first 1st book and created the characters in my mind by her performance then Amanda Cobb narrated the 2nd book and changed the character portrayal completely.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Loved the story

Loved the story, hated the reader. Amanda Cobb did a really poor job. I don't enjoy listening to this title the way I should. Audible should have used the reader on the original CD Joyce Bean. Bean is excellent.

Good closure

This book is a sequel to Light and Dark. I wish that the same narrator had read both of them. In this performance, Ethan isn't laconic and low key, as he always appeared to me in the books. And, the primary female characters, Zoe and Arcadia, were just too perky.
