The runaway sisters
The action begins when word reaches the Gardiner household that Lydia, under the care of the Forsters, has run away with Wickham. While one group searches London for the couple, Elizabeth and Mrs. Gardiner head for Scotland in case the runaways went to Gretna Green.
Lizzy wants to search a little farther, so she leaves her Aunt a note and, taking the footman, boards the mail coach. There is an accident and the footman injures his ankle. Nevertheless the pair must walk two or three miles to the nearest inn.
Since all of the walking wounded went to the same inn, there is no room or help to be had. By chance, Mr. Darcy has stopped t the same inn to change his horses. He takes Lizzy and the footman to Broadmeadow, his Scottish estate, where he discovers that Lizzy has been injured.

Avid Reader
I have not read anything by Elizabeth Ann West for quite some time. I saw where she had two other novels this year,,but I didn't see them on Amazon. I have to say that Mr. Bennett really took the cake in this book. Mr. Gardenier cared more about finding Lydia than he did. Wickham seduced Lydia and Georgina and both continued to think that they were in love. Jane soon realized that Bingley had no backbone or spine and changed dramatically in the book. She and Colonel Fitzwilliam became fast friends in spite of his mother's objections. Darcy stayed true to the course with Elizabeth in spite of Lydia, her head injury, and her fear of riding in carriages. Well done!
Liszt Tipsy?
One of the great things about the Jane Austen novels is the latitude they offer for further or additional development. In this book Darcy and Elizabeth meet--differently. And it is fun and games from that time forward. For a light-hearted romp, I can recommend The Whiskey Wedding without reservation.

The book got off to a slow start for me. I thought I might not finish it. However, it improved. Some of the characters became likeable. The social customs in London were eye opening. There was a little history, a little mystery, and a little romance.
Sweet!
Another great read from my favorite JAF writer. She really goes the extra mile to get all the little details right. And who doesn't love them some Darcy!
When I read i can picture Colin Firth with that partly nervous but soft expression.
